Brilliant meal! Beautiful, outstanding tasting and original food. Came with the family. Devoured the Pacifica, Monterey Bay and other sushi rolls. The poke salad was perfectly balanced. The gyoza were crisp and tasty. Terrific service from Sedona and others. We loved it!!

We look forward to this place every time we are in Honolulu. The most delicious vegan sushi! The vibe is immaculate. Definitely get the Brussels!

Food was incredible the flavors were exotic and similar to sushi, but I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. The presentation of the food was stunning and it made for a perfect girls night out! We had a very friendly waiter and if you ask theywill take a Polaroid if you to sign and put on their wall. Parking was convenient although if the restaurant was busier street parking might be difficult. Overall I will be returning to try more items on the menu!

One of my favorite restaurants on the island. Everything we ordered from the rolls to dessert was incredible. The poke salad was refreshing and the point reyes roll was a great combination of sweet and salty. Not to mention, the restaurant itself was very elegant. Highly recommend whether you're plant-based/ vegan or not.

First time at a vegan restaurant and oh my lord... sooo good. Their ramen had so many yummy toppings and was so flavorful. The Pacifica roll, The Wedge, and Paradise Cove are my absolute favorites. The crispy tempura veggies inside the rolls are so crispy and yummy. Our waiter told us to squeeze lemon on the Pacifica so don't forget to do that if you order it. ORDER THE UBE CHEESECAKE. When our waiter brought it out, our table was speechless. It was so stunning and tasted incredible. It was definitely one of the most memorable dessert experiences. So happy to have found such a great date spot with friendly service and a relaxing vibe. This place is definitely going into my regular rotation.

What a find. Oh wow! Thrilled to discover they even have branches in the Bay Area; we'll definitely be checking those out. This was our first proper sushi experience, and it absolutely delivered. The Wedges were the standout: crispy on the outside with a delicious sushi-style filling inside. We also loved The Point Reyes--a classic-style roll with mushrooms, aioli, and pineapple that worked well. The cucumber roll tasted great with the dip and the veg gyoza was excellent. We also tried their ramen; this was the one miss for us--the smoky flavor in the vegan version didn't quite land for us, though our daughter happily ate the noodles and a bit of the broth. The garlic edamame was a huge hit with our kid, and the Negima was outstanding (personal favorite)--bonus points for it being on the happy hour menu. Note: they had a 1.5 hour limit on the table. Ambience was great! Overall, an incredible vegan sushi experience with memorable dishes. Highly recommend!

The service was quick and friendly. It always weirds me out when servers don't write down orders but everything was correct. I really wanted to like the Kailua but the wasabi overpowered everything. I loved the crunch of the Ewa and Paradise Cove. The Leahi was not our favorite. I think the beets were just too earthy. The ramen was big enough to share. My favorite was the ube cheesecake.

Mostly everything I ordered was good. I ordered the Philadelphia and I can't remember the other sushi I ordered, but I also ordered Inari, miso, soup and vegetable tempura. The vegetable tempura tasted a little overcooked, but otherwise it was good. It came with a green powder which I can only assume is maybe a wasabi powder. I wasn't sure what it was and it also came with shredded Daikon. My order also came with pickled ginger, a ball of wasabi and shoyu (soy sauce) packets. I didn't dine here, but my brother, since he picked up my order, said that it was a dark ambience and really cool looking.

Tane is possibly the best restaurant in Hawaiʻi. I have been coming here since it opened in 2019 and it is consistently good every single time. The mix of flavors is world class. Vegans won't even know it's vegan. I have been to Tokyo's top vegan sushi restaurant and I honestly think Tane is better. There is a reason it is award winning. My favorite roll is a tie between the wedge and half moon. The sweet potato is my favorite non speciality roll and the tempura and tofu are great appetizers. The best thing of all though is that my son with food allergies can eat almost everything here. The staff is so attentive and knowledgeable about the ingredients. It's the only restaurant on Oahu where he can eat most items. Although we have been several times our server tonight, Andrew, really made the experience so much better. He was such a sweetheart and double checked all the ingredients on everything to make sure it's safe for my son. They have a rotating dessert that will change each time you go, tonight was a yuzu chocolate cheesecake that you would never know is vegan. Ambiance is cozy and welcoming. Parking can be a challenge but it's worth it even if it means you have to take a taxi (but if you wait long enough you'll almost always find something in the small adjacent lot)

I was curious about this vegan sushi restaurant and it did not disappoint!! The ambiance was amazing, the decor was great, and the service was attentive We loved every roll we got (ewa, monterey). The tofu appetizer was a skip -- it was missing a kick of flavor.

The Good: Ample parking in a large parking lot. Very stylish interior and nice vibes. This looks like a place that I'd want to eat at. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Highly attentive and honest personal recommendations. The Bottom Line: Sushi and izakaya fare were not meant to be vegan. While this is a valiant attempt, unfortunately nothing we ate was worth writing home about, and zero inspiration to come back again. I am not against vegan food by any means, but Japanese food with fish/meat to begin with is by design very light on seasoning and sauces, meant to highlight the natural deliciousness of the protein. When that protein is replaced with a poor vegan substitute, the entire point of the dish is lost. What We Ate: 1. Gyoza - Standard vegetable dumplings. Not bad, but you could get something just as good or better from the frozen foods aisle at Don Quijote. 2. Shizen Shiitake - Shiitake mushroom and shredded tofu stuffed in a deep-fried tempura shell. The sweet soy/teriyaki sauce was the only flavor and much too sweet for my liking. I feel like this could've been good with salt. I love shiitake and tempura, so I'm both saddened and surprised that this was a miss. 3. Crispy Cauli Bites - Deep fried panko crusted cauliflower. Basic bar food that you could find at even a regular American restaurant/bar. Perfectly fried and nicely done, but the (beautifully plated into yin yang symbol) barbecue/buffalo ranch sauce was wholly uninspired and tasted like it was squeezed out of some Walmart store brand bottles. 4. Negima - An attempt at yakitori chicken/negima skewers using marinated soy protein. The soy protein had an unwelcome chewiness reminiscent of mochi and again the teriyaki sauce was just unpleasantly sweet. This actually reminded us of mitarashi dango, and might have been good if billed as a dessert, but was just a sad, sad, failed attempt at a copycat chicken skewer. 5. The Wedge - Specialty roll with spicy tofu tempura and again the same sickeningly sweet teriyaki sauce. It just tasted like a heavy batter tempura with all the deep fried guilt but none of the delicious reward. 6. Monterey - Specialty roll with a king oyster mushroom, spicy aioli, and habanero peppers. Again, no flavor and not spicy at all. Could have been good with some salt and a spicy kick, which is what I was expecting but did not get. 7. Lilikoi "cheese"cake - Beautiful plating with a healthy portions of blueberries, strawberries, and pineapple, and the crust was perfectly delicious. The "cheese" cake part, however, was not so great. Left us with an unpleasant mouthfeel and a flavor that left us scratching our heads as to where we'd tasted something like this before--definitely something edible but not food. Some ideas that popped into our heads were paste or sugarless gummy vitamins... All in all, this was fusion food at its worst. Certainly more American than Japanese. Criminal lack of flavor other than treacly teriyaki that could have been solved with matcha salt, regular shoyu, wasabi, togarashi, or any number of naturally vegan traditional Japanese seasonings. I came in with an open mind wanting to like this place, and figured if anything I would feel light and healthy after a vegan meal. However, the only thing that felt light at the end was my wallet after the $65/person bill, as all the tempura-ed and deep fried tofu/veggies left me feeling heavy, bloated, and yet somehow completely unsatiated. There are cuisines more suited to the meat-replacement treatment, and good vegan/vegetarian restaurants out there. This, unfortunately, was not one of them.

Beautiful decor. Delicious food. This is not your average vegan food. The flavor combinations were so good. We left full. They can accommodate some allergies. It's close to work and it takes all my willpower not to order take out daily.

Is there a parking lot at the restaurant? Is there free parking along the street?

There's a parking lot just after the restaurant and street parking. Parking lot is free for sure, I believe street parking may be as well.

They have shared parking lot with the surrounding establishments which was fairly open since it was so late (I think they were the only one open by that time). We were able to get seated fairly quickly (bar seating style, not individual tables, although they have a few of those as well). This spot is decently small but they seem to fit everyone in fairly efficiently. Upon seating we were given menus and waters after. The waiters are decently attentive since we were seated right by their kitchen/back of house opening. We got: * Chicken Karaage: 10/10, I would heavily recommend this. The chicken was juicy and lightly crispy. What MADE this dish was actually the egg sauce on top. It acts as the aioli but clearly much more homemade and heathier, with egg white pieces and the sauce made of egg yolk etc. We ordered this twice bc it smacked. * Taco Rice: 7/10, okay so... I'm not even going to lie when I say that I was a bit tipsy already when I agreed on ordering this. I THOUGHT this was a TAKO (octopus) rice. NOT a TACO (Mexican) rice. It tasted like I was eating taco bell, which wasn't bad per se but just felt weird being in an izakaya. * Beef Tongue: 9/10. I would recommend this as well. The beef tongue was tender and flavorful. They didn't go overboard with the sauce on top to let the meat shine through. * Seared Aburi: 8/10. The person I was with order it. It was good, no strong feelings about it. It was cool to watch them sear it though. It was on the fishy-er side tho, compared to other forms of sashimi (likely due to the skin still present). * Hot Sake: I would recommend this if you don't enjoy drinking. While its hot/warm, it helps it go down a lot more! Honestly I enjoyed the fried chicken so much I would actually come back just to eat that and maybe try some of their other dishes. Plus the izakaya experience definitely felt really authentic as it was bustling when we visited.

The kitchen is clearly talented. But everything else? A real disappointment. The server was cold and unfriendly the entire visit. The larger tables of four around us were getting great, attentive service -- smiles, check-ins, the works. But when she dropped food at our table? Not even a word. It felt pretty obvious that since the bigger tables had an automatic 20% tip guaranteed, our table just wasn't worth the effort to her. And that's exactly the problem with sneaking an auto-gratuity in fine print at the bottom of the menu -- it creates exactly this kind of situation. If the service had been genuinely good, I would have happily tipped 20% on my own. But to have it quietly tacked on after being largely ignored? That feels sneaky and disrespectful. This place used to be a go-to for me. Today really dropped the ball. Be upfront about the tip policy and treat every table like it matters -- because to the customer, it always does.

Located on the ground floor of the Romer House hotel, which itself had been recently gutted and remodeled in recent years, along Nāhua Street, 855 Aloha proudly establishes itself as a restaurant that has its roots engrained with a sense of nostalgia from a time when things moved a little slower, even in Hawai'i where things have always moved a little slower, so diners can gather, stay a little longer, which upon my visit I happily did so. Named for Hawaii's once-ubiquitous payphone number, 855 Aloha is a celebration of local history and a bit of an homage to the humble payphone, where a handful of change could connect people back to the mainland. What brought me here was the fact that on a previous journey to the Hawaiian islands, I stayed at the Romer House and thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the hotel, but never got around to visiting their main restaurant on the ground floor lobby. Upon a recent visit to Waikīkī, with the rain coming down in droves, I made it my mission to finally make it one of Waikīkī's most intriguing restaurants. Not having reservations for 855 Aloha was not a problem, as I made sure to call in advance and they said they were taking walk-ins this evening. Being sat in one of their large booths made me appreciate solo dining, and take in the ambiance of a dimly lit dining room. Beyond the cocktail and beverage section of the menu, the dinner menu at 855 Aloha is separated into categories including Sushi Rolls, otherwise known as Roll Call; Salads, otherwise known as Fresh Talk; Shareable Pupus and Appetizers, otherwise known as Party Line; Large Plates, otherwise known as Main Line; Sides, otherwise known as What's Your Extension; and Desserts, otherwise known as Sweet Talk. To start my meal I ordered their Hello Goodbye cocktail which featured Tequila Blanco, Mezcal, Housemade Ginger Syrup, Honey and Lemon. A sultry cocktail that was deep in texture and flavor, this was a nice start to my meal. To eat with my cocktail, I ordered their Cali Roll which was filled with Snow Crab, Avocado, Cucumber and Sesame. This was your traditional sushi roll elevated in an only-in-Hawaii sense of mind. Since I was famished for food, I knew I wanted something hearty, and their Chinatown Chili Crisp Chicken which was served with Gai Lan vegetables, as well as Charred Lemon, and topped with Cilantro. To pair with my entrée, I ordered their Furikake Rice. As I sipped on my cocktail I enjoyed my Cali Roll piece by piece and knew that the food at 855 Aloha was truly elevated and I knew for the rest of my evening I was in for a real treat. My chicken entrée and bowl of steamed rice topped with furikake seaweed and sesame seeds would come out next and I would not be disappointed as it was juicy and flavorful with every bite. The chicken entrée was not the largest dish so sharing this one entrée seems doubtful the side of steamed rice definitely fills up any diner. I didn't think I had any room for dessert but changed my mind when I reviewed their menu, and their Chocolate Haupia Pie topped with Toasted Coconut and Whipped Cream was simply too good to ignore. My total bill for this visit to 855 Aloha was $90.06 that included tax and was before grtuity was added in, which was higher than most, but well worth the price tag. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to 855 Aloha, as it represented the true diverse cultures of Hawaii, thanks to the energy and kindness of the Japanese hospitality that this restaurant represents. Seeing my fellow diners, both large parties and couples enjoy themselves, in such a place where people were clearly bonding over their meal and drinks in such a laid back yet still dynamic social environment was a real treat. "I got it, I got it, I got it...for a good time, for a good time call...855 Aloha!

The front desk recommended 855 Aloha while at check in. He gave me a dining card where if I dined…read moreat certain restaurants, I would receive 15% off. As it was my first night in Hawaii and we didn't have dinner yet, sure why not try it? While waiting to be seated, I had asked the staff at 855 Aloha if the 15% discount would apply for guests at the hotel, and quite oddly, she said she didn't know. Upon being seated, I asked our server and strangely, she also didn't know and said she would ask someone. Sort of made me confused and gaslighted that I'm being told two different things. As it's our first time dining at 855 Ahola, we tried a few entrees and I would say that it's flavorful and delicious; much better than I would have expected. $12 for sparkling water, a little pricier but the food was good. I did enjoy my late meal / dinner. My only complaint would be that when the bill arrived, no discount was applied. I had told three servers that I was a guest at the hotel, had my key card and ID as well. The server came back and she applied 10% off. At that point, I just paid for the bill and left a 20% tip for gratuity. Being in Hawaii, especially after a long flight and it being our first meal which happens to be very late and it's dinner, would have liked for the hotel to have just honored the 15% discount without having to ask about it so many times. 15% discount won't break my wallet but it's more about the principle and fairness -- it is actually listed on the website as well. It made me feel like 855 Aloha wasn't very honest. The food itself was good but I would probably just skip this one next time.

We ordered a bit too much food and spent a little under $200 for two people after tax and tip. Some dishes we ordered: 1. Spicy tuna and salmon with garlic roll ($26.50) - massive roll and quite heavy...this was the last dish to come out and we were STUFFED by then. It's good, but I would have preferred to start the meal with this roll, not end with it. 2. Atsuage natto ($9.50) - ordered to hit my protein macros. It's literally fried tofu topped with a generous serving of natto. 3. Eggplant in dashi sauce ($6.50) - light appetizer, and seemed fairly healthy. 4. Miso chilean sea bass ($30) - very flaky and fresh. I was already getting full by this point after our apps and nigiri came out. 5. The nigiri and rolls were all fresh and ranged in pricing. We each got 3 pieces of nigiri and split a couple small rolls in addition to the aforementioned spicy tuna and salmon. Service was decent. We sat at the counter and the chefs were all very nice.

Best service, even when we showed up right before last call. Thank you!…read more Most places don't look too happy when you walk in right before last call. We are always looking for a quick night cap after UH games and Bozu has both good drinks and quality sushi and sashimi.
