    Monterey Roll
    Elyse W.

Something different and everything was good (corn ribs just too spicy for me)! They use lots of tofu and mushrooms as a substitute; rolls better than apps. Their rolls look like regular fish rolls from afar and flavor combos go well w/each other (Monterey roll had mushrooms flavored similar to spicy ahi). Be prepared that this is a lighter dinner (due to veggies) so costs could add up when getting multiple dishes.

Freaking amazing! Great food and service to go along with it. Everything we tried, we loved to. Spicy Ewa roll was our favorite.

We were treated to dinner at Tane by friends and a lovely experience it was. I had the "Manila Dunes" and I loved the mix of textures from the crunchy bit inside the roll to the chip on top. My partner had the "Point Reyes" and enjoyed the "just right hit" of spiciness. Service was pretty much on point with continual water fills but one strange move by a certain server who decided to rearrange all plates vertically in the center of the table, as if, we were sharing. We consequently had to reset the table because we had each made our own choice. We shared the lilokoi "cheesecake" for dessert. The presentation was lovely with a variety of fruits but the lilokoi flavor was not pronounced. All in all, a lovely evening in a beautifully designed interior.

Food was incredible the flavors were exotic and similar to sushi, but I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. The presentation of the food was stunning and it made for a perfect girls night out! We had a very friendly waiter and if you ask theywill take a Polaroid if you to sign and put on their wall. Parking was convenient although if the restaurant was busier street parking might be difficult. Overall I will be returning to try more items on the menu!

Brilliant meal! Beautiful, outstanding tasting and original food. Came with the family. Devoured the Pacifica, Monterey Bay and other sushi rolls. The poke salad was perfectly balanced. The gyoza were crisp and tasty. Terrific service from Sedona and others. We loved it!!

We look forward to this place every time we are in Honolulu. The most delicious vegan sushi! The vibe is immaculate. Definitely get the Brussels!

First time at a vegan restaurant and oh my lord... sooo good. Their ramen had so many yummy toppings and was so flavorful. The Pacifica roll, The Wedge, and Paradise Cove are my absolute favorites. The crispy tempura veggies inside the rolls are so crispy and yummy. Our waiter told us to squeeze lemon on the Pacifica so don't forget to do that if you order it. ORDER THE UBE CHEESECAKE. When our waiter brought it out, our table was speechless. It was so stunning and tasted incredible. It was definitely one of the most memorable dessert experiences. So happy to have found such a great date spot with friendly service and a relaxing vibe. This place is definitely going into my regular rotation.

What a find. Oh wow! Thrilled to discover they even have branches in the Bay Area; we'll definitely be checking those out. This was our first proper sushi experience, and it absolutely delivered. The Wedges were the standout: crispy on the outside with a delicious sushi-style filling inside. We also loved The Point Reyes--a classic-style roll with mushrooms, aioli, and pineapple that worked well. The cucumber roll tasted great with the dip and the veg gyoza was excellent. We also tried their ramen; this was the one miss for us--the smoky flavor in the vegan version didn't quite land for us, though our daughter happily ate the noodles and a bit of the broth. The garlic edamame was a huge hit with our kid, and the Negima was outstanding (personal favorite)--bonus points for it being on the happy hour menu. Note: they had a 1.5 hour limit on the table. Ambience was great! Overall, an incredible vegan sushi experience with memorable dishes. Highly recommend!

Tane is possibly the best restaurant in Hawaiʻi. I have been coming here since it opened in 2019 and it is consistently good every single time. The mix of flavors is world class. Vegans won't even know it's vegan. I have been to Tokyo's top vegan sushi restaurant and I honestly think Tane is better. There is a reason it is award winning. My favorite roll is a tie between the wedge and half moon. The sweet potato is my favorite non speciality roll and the tempura and tofu are great appetizers. The best thing of all though is that my son with food allergies can eat almost everything here. The staff is so attentive and knowledgeable about the ingredients. It's the only restaurant on Oahu where he can eat most items. Although we have been several times our server tonight, Andrew, really made the experience so much better. He was such a sweetheart and double checked all the ingredients on everything to make sure it's safe for my son. They have a rotating dessert that will change each time you go, tonight was a yuzu chocolate cheesecake that you would never know is vegan. Ambiance is cozy and welcoming. Parking can be a challenge but it's worth it even if it means you have to take a taxi (but if you wait long enough you'll almost always find something in the small adjacent lot)

The service was quick and friendly. It always weirds me out when servers don't write down orders but everything was correct. I really wanted to like the Kailua but the wasabi overpowered everything. I loved the crunch of the Ewa and Paradise Cove. The Leahi was not our favorite. I think the beets were just too earthy. The ramen was big enough to share. My favorite was the ube cheesecake.

By far the BEST Vegan Sushi spot Ive Ever been too. Great service Ambiance was chic and cozy Def make reservation to gurantee seating, this place is popular and so worth it. We wanna to try everything and wow the variety and presentation of each dish and taste profile was so incredible you didnt even think of to compare to a real sushi but just Great tasting food that made you wanna keep trying other items on the menu. HAPPY HOUR: 4:30-5:30p AND 8:30-Close 4 of us, we ordered: Garlic edamame Da Bao Agedashi tofu x2 Nigiri sampler Manoa HandRoll similar ingredients as Monterey Roll Philadelphia roll Ginger spritz mocktail Specialty roll: X2 Leahi Roll... BEST BEET sushi Point Reyes roll ... Yum Monterey roll ...Smokey GOOD And still wish we had enuf room to try others. But definitely will come back to try the whole menu. A MUST when in Oahu especially for Vegan lovers

    Philadelphia, Inari and ?
    Rochelle J.

Mostly everything I ordered was good. I ordered the Philadelphia and I can't remember the other sushi I ordered, but I also ordered Inari, miso, soup and vegetable tempura. The vegetable tempura tasted a little overcooked, but otherwise it was good. It came with a green powder which I can only assume is maybe a wasabi powder. I wasn't sure what it was and it also came with shredded Daikon. My order also came with pickled ginger, a ball of wasabi and shoyu (soy sauce) packets. I didn't dine here, but my brother, since he picked up my order, said that it was a dark ambience and really cool looking.

Barbers roll with sake shot reward for whoever gets the spicy piece!
    Alana K.

Incredible vegan dining on the island -- a rare find! Service was cordial but perhaps a little scattered (returning to the table to confirm the order we'd just placed, bringing tableware they'd already dropped off for us, forgetting our water -- minor things like that). The mai tai was unusual but palatable. The food was amazing! Still thinking about that Da Bao (Soy musubi patties, steamed buns, pickled carrots, daikon, jalapeños, cucumbers, cilantro, scallions, plum wine sauce) and how I'd like to eat it every day. The specialty rolls were works of art that were equally beautiful and had exquisite taste and texture. Manila Dune (Tempura pumpkin, spiced burdock, shredded tofu, avocado crema, chili, renkon chips) was dense but flavorful. Barbers (Smoked beets, spinach, avocado, soy strip, asparagus, rice crackers, seaweed pearls, spicy aioli, suspense) was intriguing as a little game of sushi roulette (hence the final ingredient). Whoever gets the spicy piece also gets the accompanying shot of sake. I was grateful my husband ended up getting that one because it was hot for him which means it would have been very hot for me. My only complaint with either of these specialty rolls is that each piece was quite large and therefor difficult to eat. I had to do the unconscionable thing and nibble away at it to comfortably eat it without it feeling like a choking hazard. Futo maki roll (Age tofu, spinach, shiitake, kanpyo, inari, pickled radish) was no less delicious for its simplicity. Quality was excellent, and everything on the menu sounded like something we wanted to try. We were so impressed by our meal we almost returned the following (our last) night. Lucky for us they have a restaurant in LA which I intend to visit next time I'm in town which is far more frequently than I'm in Honolulu. But would I consider flying to Oahu again for Tane Izakaya? Yes, yes I would.

Is there a parking lot at the restaurant? Is there free parking along the street?

There's a parking lot just after the restaurant and street parking. Parking lot is free for sure, I believe street parking may be as well.

I made a duplicate reservation by mistake. How do I cancel the second reservation?

You won't be fined for a no-show in the system, so just call them directly and let them know. Optionally, you should be able to go to ONE of the reservations and cancel it online directly. Assuming you do actually have two overlapping separate…

    Is it BYOB?

Not really, they have a full bar service.

    Do they deliver?

I don't think so, but not certain. Sorry, I'm no help!

How do you confirm your reservation?

Someone calls you?! Most times a message has to be left for a reservation. Is not easy to contact them.

Why don't you offer gift certificates? Very disappointed 😣

They have gift cards now, as of July😁

    How does takeout work?

I've never had takeaway from them as I think the food coming out super fresh is the way to go.

Hi:) Is this restaurant MSG free?

I'm just a customer but im 99% sure its msg free.

    Bring your own booze?

    No. They have a bar.

    Do they offer brown rice?

    No, just sushi rice

Are they doing any sort of reservation system yet like their sister restaurant in SF?

    Yes! They do take reservations.

Taco rice (5/5): Imagine salsa, ground beef, cheese, rice in hot stone bowl; amazing combo and apparently a well known Okinawan dish. Shark fin cartilage w/ ume sauce (5/5): Unique, crunchy, refreshing cucumber/cartilage dish. Chicken kaarage (4/5): Awesome fried chicken just wished it was larger portions as I feel like its gotten smaller over the years. Inside, it's really small and there isn't that much seating so I would only recommend going here with a small group or just a pair of people. They immediately asked if we had a reservation (we did not) but there were able to seat us in less than 10 minutes. Looks like it would be good to make reservations in advance just in case! As we were seated, we looked over the three menus on the table. It felt slightly overwhelming to look at, especially with not knowing what some items exactly were (but, thank goodness for Google results and pictures on Yelp!). Our server took our orders relatively quick and we were also handed our drinks in a matter of minutes. It was cool to see them make our drinks in front of us! I will say, as someone who usually goes for drinks that don't taste like alcohol at all, the drinks we both got were a little less sweet than I'm used to but that was ok! They were very easy to drink and it didn't burn the throat. Very smooth! The food was absolutely to die for though!! Their food was legitimately the best food I've had at an izakaya on island. We ordered the beef tongue, chicken karaage, and gyoza - each packing a punch of flavor with each bite. I was most surprised about the beef tongue because of how easy it was to eat since I'm used to beef tongue being on the chewier end and lacking some flavor, yet their beef tongue was very tender and had just enough of that umami goodness. The karaage was crispy and not oily at all! The tartar sauce on top only complimented the crispy texture. The gyoza was pretty decent and is pretty similar to gyoza I've tried at other places. It's still good but didn't have that "wow!" factor that I experienced with the other two dishes. 11/10 would *definitely* come back here again for the food.

Inside is smallish with the usual izakaya bar style set up and decor with the dark wood and dark tones, but maybe more toned down than a true izakaya. Comfortable, plain, and simple. Menu is pretty confusing and not the clearest, but it's mainly their fresh fish and seafood that are the main attractions. You just gotta figure out what they are cause it's only listed in Japanese and Romanized Japanese. They do have some interesting choices though after a thorough search. Started with Spicy Tuna Roll was very good. Nicely seasoned and prepared sushi rice, neatly rolled with fresh chunks of tuna. $11.50. Spicy Konnyaku was decent. A little light on the seasoning, but not too bad. $4.50. The Chicken Cartilage Karaage was a surprise! Crispy, crunchy, and nicely seasoned. So good. We ordered it twice! $8.50. OH! Toro (Premium Fatty Tuna), 4 pieces sashimi, $42.00. Fresh, melt in your mouth, and nicely presented. Aburi OH! Toro nigiri had a nice char/smoky flavor - equally as good as the sashimi. $13.50. The A5 Mizayaki Beef Sushi with Foie Gras nigiri was amazing! Fresh, melt in your mouth A5 with rich, unctuous Foie gras that was nicely charred and seasoned. $14.00. Grilled Beef Tongue was excellent. Thick cut, tender, nicely seasoned and prepared. Onions garnish went very well adding a nice punch. $14.50. The Uni Shiso Cucumber wrapped with Hirame was a unique combination. Fresh, firm hirame; rich, oceanic uni; bright, herbaceous Shiso; crunchy cucumber. $35.00 - 4 pieces. The Uni Truffle Butter Egg Yolk Rice was okay. It wasn't as rich or as decadent as I'd imagined, especially with uni, egg yolk, and butter noted. A bit too much rice compared to the amount of uni to be able to fully enjoy the richness. Perhaps less rice? Which might lead to a lower price than the $29.00? Corn Karaage was okay. Flavor was one note. It was just corn with miso paste and coated with starch and deep fried to temp. Some seasoning would go a long way. $6.50 for 5 short pieces. Hamachi Carpaccio was good. Fresh fish, flavorful soy-vinegar sauce with complementing toppings (olive oil, sea grapes, grape tomato, onion slices, and Tobikko). $21.00. New Zealand King Salmon Nigiri was very good! Melt in your mouth with a smooth and buttery texture. The Deep Fried Octopus was okay. Slightly toothsome, nicely battered and fried, but very light on the seasoning. Needed the salt to balance the tart ponzu. Overall, a solid meal with fresh, quality ingredients, and everything was nicely prepared and beautifully presented. Decent sake selection, but only two beer choices. The menu had many fish selections, but if you don't know what they are in romanized Japanese, you'll need to search it, which took a bit of time for the decision-maker. Staff was very friendly and attentive in the beginning, but it got busy and it became less. It's a bit pricey, which was expected and known. Uosan feels more of a sashimi restaurant than an izakaya, but that won't stop me from coming back to try more sashimi!

My fiance won a gift card actually 2 of them (from his coworker whom could not get a reservation secured), we knew we had to make the trip over before they officially close. We had multiple dishes, but staff made Kauai prawns and tomato miso black cod dishes on the house since they ran out the Hokkaido scallops. We ordered the short ribs, lobster appetizer, hamachi crudo and lastly sashimi moriawase to finish food palate. Lukki lemon dessert was great way to end to night. Ordered the Milk tea bouquet cocktail while my better half had water ( either way the food coma knock him out cold the rest of the night lol). To be honest, it was difficult to determine which dish was the best because the staff kept quality there despite it being busy every night since they announce the closure. Sashimi moriawase, fish was so fresh, reminded me of my time spent in Hokkaido and Sapporo. Short ribs was soft and rich in flavor. Both me and my fiance liked the lukki lemon dessert, like lemon meringue pie but broken down version. If you have a chance to dine here before closing and got a reservation, definitely will have a lovely dining experience and your stomach will be full by end of the night.

The staff were friendly and very helpful with giving us recommendations. We ordered 3 appetizers and 2 entrees, and honestly it was too much food for us. We had leftovers for breakfast the next day! - For appetizers we got: Ulu Tots, Japanese Eggplant, and Corn Beignets. The Corn Beignets was the best. - For entree we got: Tomato Miso Black Cod and the Short Rib. Both were delicious and worth a try. Sad to see that this restaurant appears to be closing.

This restaurant will always hold a special place in our hearts…read more We first visited in 2025 during a trip to Oahu that ended with our engagement. We were staying at the Romer House and didn't have dinner plans, so we wandered into 855-Aloha. While we were looking over the menu, Matteo (the General Manager at the time) came over, welcomed us, and encouraged us to stay despite the wait. He then walked behind the bar, poured us two complimentary glasses of champagne, and invited us to relax while we waited for our table. That simple gesture set the tone for an incredible evening and was our first glimpse of the genuine hospitality this restaurant is known for. After that trip, we started planning our wedding and decided there was no better place than Oahu for a destination wedding. When it came time to plan our rehearsal dinner, 855-Aloha was one of the first places we reached out to. A few months later, while visiting Waikiki with my parents, we stopped in to show them the restaurant where we celebrated our engagement. Tanden, the Events Manager at the time, greeted us and, to our surprise, remembered me by name. He gave my parents a tour of the space and insisted we stay for a drink. Moments like that made us feel like more than just another reservation--they made us feel genuinely valued. Booking our rehearsal dinner here was an easy decision. Throughout the planning process, there was quite a bit of turnover within the events team. Every coordinator we worked with was warm, accommodating, and wonderful, with one exception. When we explored the possibility of extending our evening with a welcome party at Lei Stand after dinner, we found the experience with Samantha Molzer frustrating. The conversations felt unusually rigid, and instead of collaborating on options, we often felt reminded of policies and qualifications. Ultimately, we decided to host our welcome party across the street at Green Lady Cocktail Room, where the process felt more flexible and better suited to what we were looking for. (Ultimately the unreasonably firm quote she had given us did not make any sense. After our rehearsal dinner we still wandered over to the lei stand for a drink before heading over to our welcome party at another location and there were all of 4 guests in the entire bar. They probably would have profited greatly from hosting us!) Thankfully, Lisa stepped in to coordinate our event, and she and the entire team absolutely knocked it out of the park. Our rehearsal dinner was everything we had hoped for and more. The service was attentive, the food was fantastic, and every detail was thoughtfully executed. What stood out most, though, was the team's kindness. I had gotten sick a few days into our trip and still wasn't feeling well enough to eat much on the night of our rehearsal. I asked one of the servers if there happened to be any soup on the menu. They apologized that there wasn't, but then told me they had everything needed to make fresh miso soup from scratch if I didn't mind waiting a few minutes. Within minutes, they brought me a warm bowl of homemade miso soup. It was such a small gesture, but one I'll never forget. That level of care and hospitality is exactly what makes people return to a restaurant time and time again. Thank you to Lisa and the entire team for helping make such an important milestone in our lives even more special. We'll always look back on 855-Aloha with incredibly fond memories.

As it was my first night in Hawaii and we didn't have dinner yet, sure why not try it? While waiting to be seated, I had asked the staff at 855 Aloha if the 15% discount would apply for guests at the hotel, and quite oddly, she said she didn't know. Upon being seated, I asked our server and strangely, she also didn't know and said she would ask someone. Sort of made me confused and gaslighted that I'm being told two different things. As it's our first time dining at 855 Ahola, we tried a few entrees and I would say that it's flavorful and delicious; much better than I would have expected. $12 for sparkling water, a little pricier but the food was good. I did enjoy my late meal / dinner. My only complaint would be that when the bill arrived, no discount was applied. I had told three servers that I was a guest at the hotel, had my key card and ID as well. The server came back and she applied 10% off. At that point, I just paid for the bill and left a 20% tip for gratuity. Being in Hawaii, especially after a long flight and it being our first meal which happens to be very late and it's dinner, would have liked for the hotel to have just honored the 15% discount without having to ask about it so many times. 15% discount won't break my wallet but it's more about the principle and fairness -- it is actually listed on the website as well. It made me feel like 855 Aloha wasn't very honest. The food itself was good but I would probably just skip this one next time.

We ordered a bit too much food and spent a little under $200 for two people after tax and tip. Some dishes we ordered: 1. Spicy tuna and salmon with garlic roll ($26.50) - massive roll and quite heavy...this was the last dish to come out and we were STUFFED by then. It's good, but I would have preferred to start the meal with this roll, not end with it. 2. Atsuage natto ($9.50) - ordered to hit my protein macros. It's literally fried tofu topped with a generous serving of natto. 3. Eggplant in dashi sauce ($6.50) - light appetizer, and seemed fairly healthy. 4. Miso chilean sea bass ($30) - very flaky and fresh. I was already getting full by this point after our apps and nigiri came out. 5. The nigiri and rolls were all fresh and ranged in pricing. We each got 3 pieces of nigiri and split a couple small rolls in addition to the aforementioned spicy tuna and salmon. Service was decent. We sat at the counter and the chefs were all very nice.
