    Corn Fritters and Chicken Bom-Bom
    Angie T.

Holy cow! I feel really sad for the other lunch goers who are waiting in line at the Cosi and other food trucks and leaving this truck wide open for my impatient curiosity to approach because they have nooo idea of what they're missing out on. I've just taken my first bites of my lunch and I am completely blown away the the quality of food for a food truck. And what a great deal too! Two choices for only $9. You don't get much better than that in the lunch price range in the DC metro area. I tried my hand at the Corn Fritters and Chicken Bom-Bom. Let's start with the fact that these things are deliciously crispy including the garlic fries. So yum! The corn fritters are sweet and have a great creamy sauce on top and the chicken bom-bom were so flavorful. Like I said I just took my first bites and I couldn't help but share with my Yelp community how incredible this experience is. Next time this truck is in your hood, go eat there.

If you are a fan of fried food, this is the spot hands down! I don't write reviews for food trucks because it's usually just mediocre, but when I do find a good one, I like to make it known ;) 3 tapas for 10 bucks and it was so worth it! the portions were huge and everything was delicious. I had the corn fritters, pork sliders, garlic fries, and chicken w/ rice. Everything had so much flavor and I could seriously munch on those corn fritters all day.

I stumbled upon this truck while strolling to Harris Teeter to grab lunch. I initially wanted a small bite to eat..soup maybe. So I see this Tapas truck...hmmm tapas mean small right?!? Lol I stopped. I got the pulled pork sliders and let me tell you they were delish. You get two tapas items for 9bucks. The sliders came with these amazingly season fries. I think it was pesto sauce. The platter was also accompanied by yellow rice and a sauce. Everything was delish and my order didn't take long at all. That's great service when you're buying from a food truck and standing in the cold weather. I hope my pics do the food justice. I really enjoyed the fries, sliders, and rice. Overall I was very pleased with my transaction. If i could I would've given 4.5 stars!! Missing a half star because it is mobile. If i return and the service is great, I will update to a 5 star for sure.

It was election day 2012. I was walking to the White House when I came upon this truck. 3 items for $9, and it's a LOT of food. I got the fried shrimp with garlic fries, and chicken braised in wine with saffron rice. Everything was amazing! The fried shrimp was so crunchy with a coating that was semi sweet and sour. The garlic fries were also very crispy and wasn't shy on the garlic. The braised chicken was the perfect headliner to go with the saffron rice and balanced out the other fried foods with its home cooked coq au vin likeness. This just might be my favorite food truck. I went by The White House to see the facade of what was at stake on that day, even tho the Pres wasn't there.

Shrimp Pil Pil $9 (3/5 NOMs)

Shrimp Pil Pil $9 (3/5 NOMs) Tasting some tapas on wheals from DC's Spanish food truck. Thinking its tapas I was surprise with the portion, which is a good surprise since tapas are too expensive and too small. Not enough to fill up multiple friends, but enough to share so you can try other nomnom tapas. Nice layer of crispy shrimp with a sweet smokey red sauce on top of garlic fries. Shrimp was very light and not overly too breaded so you can still taste the original flavors, but at the time seem a bit bland. Fries were not as garlicky was we hoped for, more of regular fries really. Be careful its hot, they serve it quickly and fresh.

First time I saw this food truck in Rosslyn. The pork sliders were absolutely amazing, and I've tried many variations of pulled pork and these were just on point. Lean but still very moist. No big pieces of fat laying in it like other pulled porks. The BBQ and aioli combination was delicious. Garlic fries were also very good -- didn't need any ketchup. Only draw back was that it took way too long to order and receive my food. Took about 25 minutes. The food more than made up for it, though.

Yummy. Got shrimp and pork with rice and garlic fries. The fries were so good. Everything very tasty and fresh.

Shrimp Pil-Pil, Chicken Morris, and Veggie Tapas with Garlic Fries

(3.5 stars) I really enjoyed this food truck. It was a nice change of pace from the seemingly ubiquitous gyro and taco trucks. I didn't have any issues with the food being cold as other reviewers did. For $10, you get three tapas, which turns out to be a surprisingly large amount of food. I ordered the shrimp pil-pil, chicken morris, and veggie tapas which came with garlic fries. The shrimp pil-pil was essentially mini fried shimp served in a spicy sauce. I was surprised how many shrimp it came with and how great they were. I wasn't crazy about the sauce... it was good but didn't have any kick to it. I felt the same about the chicken morris. The chicken itself was really good and I enjoyed the sauce but it felt just a bit lacking in spice. The veggie tapas was my least favorite, not that it was bad, just I wasn't crazy about it. I appreciated the complexity of its ingredients but I didnt feel the need to finish it. I really loved the garlic fries though. It was nice to get some fries that weren't just cooked and then had some seasoning thrown on them at the end.

I happened upon the Tapas Truck at Rock the Core Cider Festival and was on the verge of trying it after seeing the options (Rabas, Chicken Morris, Shrimp Pil-Pil and a few others) but absolutely knew I had to get it once I saw someone eating the calamari sticks with garlic fries. The prices were decent - anywhere from $8-$10 - average for any food truck. The service was wonderful - they are so friendly and work fast so that the food is out to you within minutes. And the food was beyond amazing. Every component of the Rabas (calamari sticks with a smoky tomato sauce, over a "basket" of garlic fries that are seasoned perfectly) was cooked to perfection. Oftentimes you'll come across garlic fries that are completely covered in garlic bits and nothing else, but these had a mix of spices and the garlic was subtle but still present enough to really enhance the overall taste. The consistency of the tomato sauce was great as well. It wasn't runny, it wasn't too chunky, and it spread evenly over the calamari and top of the fries - a really nice flavor addition to both. Another added plus to the Tapas Truck was the presentation of their food. They don't put their food in the standard paper food tray like a lot of food trucks, but rather in a newspaper printed paper cone (with a fork so you're not having to fish out the rest of your fries). It's a nice touch that really differentiates them from the rest of the market. Can't wait to go back and try something else!

Excellent concept, healthy food and a mix and match Spanish tapas menu, this is a superb choice for lunch. The lines can be long - but the food is better than average--and the service is fast and efficient. Hard to know what to recommend - shrimp, chorizo, empanadas, sliders - everything has been hot and flavorful. Most come with saffron rice and fries. Some come with a salad. Take your pick 2 tapas for $9 or 3 tapas for $12.

Delicious rice, good aoili sauce and corn fritters (left), Spanish torte was good (right) , but small. Fries were dry.
    Aarti B.

Okay - mixed bag of goods. Went there twice, enjoyed the flavorful rice, mushrooms, and aoili sauce, but the fries were a bit dry. The torta was very small and the corn fritters were alright. Good customer service, but nothing too special. Fun to try, but won't be coming back.

The restaurant was relatively busy, the bar was not. After finishing my first glass of wine, I waited 15 minutes for the bartender to return, but he never did. There aren't a lot of places in this city doing that, and certainly not at a location like this. If you want a great deal at one of the best spots in town, this is it. The food is outstanding across the board. I'd say they have the single best seafood tower in all of DC. Fiola Mare used to hold that title for me, but they went all crudo, so Del Mar wins now. If you want exotic Mediterranean seafood, this is where you go. They also have Ibérico ham that they hand slice the way you get it in Spain, which is worth ordering by itself. The tapas are great too. The garlic shrimp is outstanding, and those little stuffed peppers with cod inside are divine. Then there's the steak. It's expensive, no way around it, but the strip is hands down the best steak I've ever had in the Washington area. Not exaggerating. You sit out on the water and it genuinely feels like you're in another country. My one complaint is parking. It's expensive as heck around the Wharf and really hard to find. Fifty dollars is extreme in my opinion, especially when you have to hunt for a spot to pay that much. But here's the trick: come for happy hour at three and parking is wide open, because nobody's there yet. The nightmare starts in the evening. Honestly, you could make a business selling your parking spot to the people who've been circling that lot for an hour. That's the reality down there. Come early, park easy, eat well, pay less. Best happy hour in DC.

There is something very special that goes into tapas because its suppose to satisfy you based on good taste over quantity. Large shrimp in a generous skillet of olive oil and slow cooked garlic slices and a iberico mac and cheese are some examples of how they elevate classics we are familiar with. We really liked that they learned into garlic and spice. We found dried Aji Caballero in our meal, great attention to source country. They have a very robust and generous drinks menu. Loved watching others not dining alone and embracing that share quality of the menu design. Perhaps it is not the best tapas I had, I would have liked to see a balance with lighter citrus flavors but maybe that was an ordering issue. At some point, since the menu heavily leans towards rich and decadent, its better to plan around that. After striking out at two other spots, we landed at Barcelona Wine Bar, and honestly, it ended up being a pretty good save. As expected on a Thursday night, there was a wait for indoor seating, so we did what any reasonable adults would do: grabbed a drink at the bar and waited it out. I started with a Sauvignon Blanc while my friend ordered an espresso martini made with tequila, which was surprisingly delicious. Since we'd already survived happy hour elsewhere and had plans to continue the evening, we responsibly switched to water during dinner. Hydration is self-care, ladies and gentlemen. For food, we ordered the garlic shrimp, crispy mushrooms, chicken thigh, patatas bravas, and branzino. The stars of the evening were definitely the garlic shrimp and the patatas bravas. The chicken thigh was also flavorful and well-prepared. The crispy mushrooms, however, didn't quite do it for us. The flavor itself was good, but there was so much breading that we felt like we were eating the concept of a mushroom rather than an actual mushroom. Now for the plot twist. Everything came out fairly quickly except for the branzino. After waiting about 30 minutes, our server kindly informed us that it would be another 30 minutes before the fish arrived. At that point, we collectively decided that while we enjoy seafood, we do not enjoy it enough to wait an hour for it. So, we politely waved the white flag and called it a night. The service throughout the evening was genuinely good. The hostess was friendly, our server was attentive and communicative, and the bartender was cool despite operating under what appeared to be combat-level crowd conditions. It was packed, so ordering required decisiveness and a strong sense of purpose. The restaurant itself isn't huge, but it's a great size with a lively atmosphere and plenty of outdoor seating--which I'm sure is wonderful during the approximately three weeks of the year when DC weather is actually pleasant. Would I return? Absolutely. I'd just skip the mushrooms, order strategically, and maybe avoid arriving after spending several hours participating in Happy Hour Olympics beforehand. As I always say: I'm not difficult to please. I just have standards.

Started off with the "Taste of Spain" which included Pan con tomate, Aged manchego, Jamón Ibérico de bellota, and Boquerones con naranja. Since I couldn't eat the latter two, the server said they could double the first two, which was so appreciated. For my first course, I chose the Escalivada (fire-roasted eggplant, red pepper, labne yogurt, fresh herbs, olive oil, served with focaccia) and Croquetas de setas (creamy mushroom croquettes with truffle aioli). The Escalivada was tasty, but more on the tangy side; the bread was more crostini-like than focaccia. The Croquetas were so good: creamy, savory, umami inside and crunchy outside. Next, I got the Zanahorias (spiced baby carrots, sweet and sour reduction, orange honey yogurt, mojo verde, Marcona almonds) and Patatas bravas (crispy potatoes, salsa brava, pimentón, garlic aioli). When I tell you those carrots had me dreaming about them later, I'm not kidding- all of the different flavor combos paired with the perfectly cooked carrots were amazing. The Patatas bravas was pretty classic- crispy potatoes with creamy aioli and tangy tomato sauce. Finally, for dessert, I had the Tarta de naranja (orange olive oil cake, citrus-honey yogurt), and my friend had the Tarta vasca de chocolate (Basque chocolate cheesecake, macerated strawberries, chantilly cream). Both were tasty, but the Tarta de naranja was so good: perfectly dense cake, refreshing citrus, and great contrast with the yogurt. For my drink, I got the Forget-Me-Not refrescante (butterfly pea flower, thyme, honey, lime, ginger beer). Very interesting drink, not sure I'd order again but it was good. Service was great, super willing to accommodate my vegetarian dietary restrictions. Ambiance is really nice, very modern and elegant. We shared 4 tapas which were surprisingly quite large and ended up being plenty for the both of us. We did patatas bravas, mushroom croquettes, fried manchego, and calamari. The tapas were good/average but nothing to rave about. Our bill came to about $120 which is probably about standard now but felt overpriced for what we got. The coup de grâce was the Cheesecake desset. It was warm and a combo of airy and dense. The granny smith apples on the side were tart and pallet clensing. So good! We also received shirtbread cookies and a chocolate cookie thing that were delicious! The prices are on the expensive side, but definitely worth it. Great place for sharung and date night.
