I haven't been to Tapester's Grill in a couple of years because of a bad experience. We went today because my son wanted to support a local business, especially after last week's awful weather. Glad he talked me into it. Unlike my previous experience, the service seemed more customer oriented this time. The brunch burger, huevos ranchero and sticky bun were fantastic. Everything was delicious and came out quickly despite the restaurant being busy with dine-in and take-out orders. I saw a FB review from a couple of months ago stating that the restaurant's food had no flavor. My son suggests that the reviewer and his dining companion(s) get tested for coronavirus. read more

My parents and I came here for brunch this morning, and we were not disappointed! The staff treated us incredibly well the whole time we were there - helping us with our drinks, ordering, and even taking pictures for us at the end. We all really enjoyed our food. The breakfast tacos were delicious. My mom prefers her bacon more crispy than it came out, but I was very happy with the consistency for mine. The gravy that came with the biscuits and gravy was superb! I'm not normally a gravy fan but I had to "try" the gravy several times because it was so good. Let me start with this: their hash browns are LEGIT. Crispy, flavorful, definitely hits the spot. Tapester's is a casual restaurant & we stopped by for brunch. We were pleased with our overall experience. You find our own table and order at the counter & take a number sign to place on your table & they bring your dishes to you when ready. My honey biscuit chicken sandwich was quite good, except the biscuit was pretty dry to where I just got rid of half the biscuit. My wife was very happy with her huevos rancheros. Delicious and never disappoints! Highly recommend! The drive thru and dining in are both great options!

We get a large grouo to-go order here at least once a month and it's consistently pretty good and overall they are good about getting our order right. My favorite menu item is their fried chicken sandwich (add Buffalo)- it's surprisingly tender for how thick it is. and I've never had it but several friends love their mac n cheese. It's standard American food fare but it's a reliable crowd pleaser. read more

Just a bit disappointing. My family ordered burgers for everyone, and although the beef was juicy and the toppings all complimented each other, the wheat buns didn't seem to be fully risen/cooked. The fries are salted well but on the soggier side, and my chai latte, which I asked for with less ice, was about 80% ice. My guy and I came for brunch today. I ordered two eggs that came with bacon, hash browns, toast and a side of gravy. My guy ordered the chicken fried chicken. Food was bland and counter help is snarky. Hash browns are just greasy and gray, toast must be done on a griddle or flat top, because it was limp and moist/like it had been steamed. Bacon was good. Breading on chicken tasted like it had no seasoning, but the actual chicken had some flavor. Gravy was the consistency of a watery gruel and matched the gray of the hash browns. Only giving two stars because the desserts in the case we did not try look like they may taste good. read more

This is my second visit and I have to say the people who work here are some of the nicest and friendliest people I've encountered since we've moved here. Both times it was different employees but both times they were so pleasant to talk to and really made you feel welcomed. It really makes this feel like a neighborhood gem that I'll keep coming back too! I tried the mushroom Swiss burger which was huge but so good. The meat is juicy and well seasoned and doesn't taste oily at all. The bun isn't your typical burger bun but it was soft on the inside and slightly harder on the outside. My husband also enjoyed his simple burger. He got two patties instead of one but he said next time he'll only get one since this was a lot of meat We also got sweet potato fries which were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. They weren't as salted as most fries so if you like salty fries you might want to ask for extra salt. I appreciate them telling us it comes with brown sugar on it but they can make it without brown sugar if we'd like. Once again we really enjoyed our meal and will be back again very soon! read more

My husband and I came here hoping for a brunch spot with good sandwiches. We got so much more than we came for. The vibes of the restaurant were so nice and had a good indoor area and lots of outdoor seating. My husbands eyes lit up at their beer selection. They also have mimosas and "bromosas" which we thought was a fun concept. When it came to the menu everything sounded so good we had a difficult time deciding- for good reason! As we approached the counter to order I saw the Huevos Rancheros and knew we had to order them in addition to our chicken sandwiches haha! I don't regret my order for a second. The crispy chicken was a great size, well breaded and fried, and the bun selection really did the sandwich justice. It was light, well textured and slightly sweet- almost like a roll. The fries were DIVINE. I'm extremely picky about the fries a restaurant serves with their burgers and sandwiches and these are the first I've found in a long time that were both delightfully crispy AND well seasoned and shaped. The only thing to be aware of is that if you want extras on your sandwich (ie: lettuce, tomato etc) it is a bit extra. The huevos rancheros were also so good. The black beans and pico were a great addition to the grilled chicken and egg (made to order- I got over easy) and it was tucked into a pepper. It was a beautiful and wonderfully flavorful dish. The hashbrowns it came with were sliced in a unique way but were still very well cooked. The grilled chicken came much like the crispy chicken sandwich but was just a bit thinner cut of chicken. It came with a delicious sauce as well as ketchup. We loved our experience at Tapester's and are 100% returning for their egg's Benedict and much more! The one who truly made our experience was Jude. He was so helpful and enthusiastic in his recommendations and it's clear that he really loves Tapester's. He truly elevated our experience from good to wonderful!! Relying on my fellow Yelper's glowing reviews, the wife and I decided to have a go at this cozy little spot for brunch. I wanted to like it...I really did...but things did not go according to plan... I ordered the fried chicken on a biscuit with gravy and hash browns and the wife ordered the breakfast taco brunch special for that day. The biscuit was hysterically large!!! Almost comically large!! I was soooo anxious and excited to tuck into this monster I was salivating Pavlovian style! I cut off a piece of the fried chicken and in high hopes, applied to the mouth. A sea of yumminess washed over my tongue as the chicken was excellently spiced, crispy, and moist. I was happy for about 4.825 seconds...before the saltiness completely obliterated the flavor of the chicken, biscuit, and gravy. I was gutted. I wanted so hard for this to be good...but as I continued...all you could taste was salt. I went through 3 glasses of water and was barely able to finish half. I don't know if it was just an off day...but my God it was like a chicken flavored salt lick. The wife's tacos also looked delectable. Sadly these too suffered a case of mistaken identity. Basically, they were over stuffed with beans and potatoes and somewhere, hiding among this sea of starch, was some beef. Apparently, the salt that found its way to my chicken was missing from these tacos because they were quite bland. The servers were great!!! Not kidding. They were very nice and accommodating. It was my first time here for lunch. I ordered a salmon (asked for it to be blackened) with mushrooms, spinach and squash. The food comes out in less than 10 mins. The food looks good but almost half way through my fish... it's raw. When told the front desk that the meat is raw, he said he will take care of it. He brings the food... 5 mins later and had fried the same fish I was eating with even less vegetables than before.... in a different plate. Waste of money! No apologies or anything. Spoiler alert, this is a mom and pop business and it shows. Enough of the cookie cutter grill and brunch places I want to try something a little different, a little creative, a little non-franchised. Here we are folks, nothing fancy, well kept interior as far as cleanliness (you'd swear you were in a skyscraper restroom for a minute) to the little comfortable patio out in the back. It's not the easiest place to find because it doesn't jump out at you with it's ominous black sign but it's there, just slow down a lil bit and you'll see it on a corner cap. Parking can be tight during peak hours. You'll recognize the owner right off of the bat, when you see a little what looks to be an 11-year-old girl, just look for the resemblance in the face of the man behind the counter that pops up now and then, yea, there he is, that's him. He'll go table to table when time permits and ask if everything is ok. Back up a little bit, I ordered the eggs benedict and I have to warn you that if you want traditional "E B" then you probably should ask for it at the counter. Oh, by the way, it's counter service, order, pay, take your number and find your table. The E B came on what appeared to be their "signature" wheat biscuit. It was ok but threw me off when I was looking for that crunchiness of an English Muffin but none to less the gentleman offered to take it back to the kitchen and get it changed to traditional, no qualms about it. He came back with it, he shoots, he scores! The Hollandaise sauce was on cue along with the hash brown and a dab of fresh fruit to support. We ended up ordering the Brunch Mojito which was only $4 but you kind of.....get the size that you pay for, it's not really that bad but be prepared to get about 3 in order to get your relaxed effect that you might be looking for on a Sunday brunch. I did not try the sticky buns which I should have but I hear they were a coveted treasure here, that's next time, next visit. Bookmark it, try it and move on, depending on how much you liked this place you at least have something in the Meyerland area to try without being in an overcrowded shopping center experience. read more

I fell in love with this place! From the food, to the spotlessness, to the friendliness of everyone who works there! This is a Bellaire/Meyerland gem! It's located at the tail end or the beginning (depending on which way your driving) of a shopping strip somewhat adjacent to Beth Yesheren (synagogue). Apparently they are good for ordering food to go because they have a little drive through window on the side. The high school/college age girls working behind the counter were as delightful as can be. I'm assuming the owner, Jon introduced himself to us. He explained the menu and how some of the meats are cooked. He hyped up their Sunday brunch, which sounds delicious! I'll have to come back and try. The menu offers, soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches and lot of sides and appetizers to choose from! I ordered the chicken (grilled) salad. Magnificent. The chicken alone was soooooo tasty!! It was too hot (summertime) to sit outside on the inviting patio, but never mind that because inside is was nice and we were able to chat with the employees. My grandmother even marveled at how clean and pretty the kitchen doors were (we were sitting close to them). Ha! Other side notes - They have TVs, alcoholic drinks, Katz's coffee. I don't understand how this place got such high reviews. I came here on a Saturday for lunch with friends. Everyone ordered something different. We were really looking forward to getting their "stickee" buns but they were sold out by 11 am. I ordered the mac & cheese ($5). It wasn't anything special and very small portion. One friend had the lamb burger ($10), fries (not includes so cost an extra $2), and iced coffee ($3). She said it wasn't good; flavorless, dry lamb; bitter coffee. Another friend had the bratwurst hot dog (~$9) and said it was way too salty; bun was over toasted (kinda like a crouton texture); small for the amount paid; grilled peppers were good though. Another friend had the veggie burger ($10) and fries ($2). He said it was the worst veggie burger he had ever had. Stale wheat bun; patty itself was ok, but the bun ruined it. Another friend had the fried jalapeño burger ($10) and fries ($2). She said it was disappointing; fried jalapeños had no flavor; bun was ok. She asked for no pickles and onions but they was still on her burger. She liked the fries. Bathroom doesn't have paper towels. Only nice thing was their outdoor patio in the back. This was my second time here and everything was delicious. They are able to create a vegan/vegetarian option although not on the menu. I had 2 black bean tacos, with grilled onions, lettuce, picó, and avocado with fries. The cashier helped me and everything was fresh and very good! Great portions and I was only able to eat half. My friend had the Beechnut Breakfast and enjoyed hers , but didn't care for the biscuit and gravy. My girlfriend and I decided to try something new in the Bellaire/Meyerland area. Well did a little soul searching on Yelp and looked up burgers. Well tell you what I took a leap of faith on this place and I don't regret one bit! This place is hidden away in a plaza and is a Resturant sit down place. It does have a drive through and cozzy feel to it. They have a few tv's and look to serve anything from coffee to wine to beer. Right from the start we were greeted from a polite staff. Already read several reviews and noticed a lot if folks got either breakfast for there sandwhiches/burgers. I went ahead and ordered the Patty Melt. Now this ONLY a Sunday brunch item but they specially made it for me (VERY MUCH APPRECIATED). All I can say is WOW. The hash browns brought this saltiness to the burger while the Bacon had this hint of flavor in it while you ate it. All at which the over medium egg just hits you with flavor. The onion and Texas Toast was delicious. Very good burger with lots of flavor. The only critque I could give is id like to retry this burger with little bit of dressing and a little more bacon (yeah I said it...don't judge me!). My girlfriend ordered the bacon cheeseburger and it was good but no Patty Melt! IMO. Price for the burgers were not bad especially if you don't order the 8 dollar chilli cheese fries.
