This is an awesome place for cheap and yummy fill-your-belly Hawaiian comfort food. Their happy house is from 5-8. We were able to feed three people with three alcoholic drinks and leave with a tab that just tipped $50 (including tips!!) We ordered Mandos, kimchi fried rice, pork belly bowl, and sliders. We stopped in at 2:00 and it was a nice atmosphere. However it was also happy hour and several large groups of very loud people were seated next to us. We couldn't hear each other. First night in Hawaii and this place hit the spot. Although they were out of the cider we wanted, our waiter was quick to point out who that was his issue and he was really sorry about that. We went with the Loco Moco fries and the Garlic Soy Fried Chicken. The Loco Moco Fries were great - crispy coated fried and the loco moco burger had that great carmelized grill flavor. The chicken was like a mochiko chicken, with a nice crispy texture that was not overwhelmed by the garlic soy sauce. This place is fantastic! A real gem. We had arrived to grab a bite and some brews. The server told us that they were out of the catch of the day and chicken. That about obliterated much of what we thought we might get, and one of our party was angling for us to blow the joint. Thankfully, he did not prevail. Right around this time, I thought to ask about the Happy Hour menu; I recalled that Happy Hour started around 5. (It was shortly after 5 by this time.) We all ogled the Happy Hour menu, and were able to come up with some good options. I couldn't decided between the Kimchi Fried Rice and the Pork Belly Baos. Well, with the Happy Hour menu I could easily get both! A small order of the rice and one bao. OMG, the fried rice is fantastic. I even had some leftover (it was the small portion, mind you; I have no idea how much would be in a full order), and took it home for a snack later. My sister got the beef sliders, and raved about them. My dad got the kimchi burger, and loved the combination of kimchi with a burger. And, oh, they have a fine selection of beers on tap. I got one of the Aloha IPAs (can't remember which), and my sister got the Gose. Both were quite good. Great place, great find. read more

Stumbled upon this place near our resort and wow was it good. We went for Happy Hour and definitely left feeling like it was one of three best meals I had on the Island. This was probably secretly my favorite spot. It reminded me of home. A tap house with great food and good prices. Most of the afternoon is happy hour so you can very easily get a few small bites with some great beer for a good price. My wife shamed me for my first beer being one from California. I would say the tap list is not bad for a place that probably gets hammered with import costs. The food we had was really nice. We ordered too much, but it was ok. I enjoyed the heck out of this place. I would say the parking lot is an absolute nightmare, but the people, food, and beer were amazing. read more

Food size portions are horrible . $ 19 for fish sliders for a peice of fish that didn't even cover the bread. Service was horrible. Should have left after two other tables left. Had high hopes for this place but what a mess. After we sat at the bar the "bartender" asked me if I wanted ice in my cocktail I ordered. Ah, yeah dude it's hot and humid and I just walked here - I'd love some ice in my whiskey Coke. Now, that should have been my queue to get outta there fast. But we ordered some apps off the happy hour menu after the "bartender" said "go ahead and quick fire me your order". He didn't read it back just said "got it". That should have been another red flag he was in over his head. So we ordered 4 or 5 small plates off happy hour menu. He completely forgot one order, shorted us items in two others. No one ever asked if all was good or if we need anything. The food was fine but if you visit don't sit at the bar and if you have a guy ask you if you want ice in your drink get out. As an alternative, try Napali Brewing instead. They have competent service, great food and beverage. read more

We stopped here for some appetizers and drinks after a hike. We got the wings, kalua pork sliders, fries, and shrimp. The beers on tap were awesome and paired perfectly. The sliders were tasty, buns crispy on the inside, which I enjoy, and just enough meat and aioli. The wings were crispy and flavorful. The fries were beer battered and crispy. The shrimp was fresh. These were some great appetizers and it held us off way past dinner time. The beers were fresh and enjoyable. The ambiance is chill and all the windows were open to let in the nice breeze. Went there today for lunch. The beer my husband wanted they didn't have and I asked for a chocolate martini which the bartender (and our server) said he couldn't make but he could make an expresso martini for me. When he brought it 10 minutes later he put coconut in it which I can't have. He remade it and 20 minutes had past since we walked in and only 2 other people in the restaurant that were just leaving. Meanwhile people came into the bar and were served long before us. We were so disappointed in the service after reading how efficient the staff was. I needed a fork which I had to get up and get myself. French fries were really good but we'll never go back. There was a server there when we got there but the bartender waited on us .... Very cool pub/restaurant. We were able to sit at the bar and visit with the bartender Roger who had a great personality for this line of work. We will definitely be back to see him again later this week. The happy hour prices were a bonus, we really like the kimchi rice. Not so much on the loco mocohere though. Very tough review to write. I live on island not too far from Taps and Hops and had read the really good reviews. Decided to stop by recently for a beer and some Happy Hour food. The tough part of this review is - the staff was awesome, the overall vibe was good, bar had a TV with sports on, beer was excellent and the food was good. So - what was the reason to not give 5 ? As I entered a woman was in front of me - as she started to walk in she jumped to the side. A couple in the bar had two MASSIVE Rottweilers. They were blocking one of the doors into the place and you couldn't get to any bar seats without trying to get past them. The owner laughed when the lady jumped and said "don't worry - they are nice". I don't care if your dogs are nice - they don't belong in the restaurant. Instead of sitting in the bar as planned, I took a table in the restaurant. When I commented about the dogs to an employee they rolled their eyes and said "yeah - they're regulars". If management is fine allowing these dogs to be regulars in the bar - I won't be back. It's a shame - it looks like a bar I could see myself becoming a regular at - but not if that couple and their nice dogs will likely be there. Pets should be left at home - they don't need to go everywhere with you. Bummer. read more
