This restaurant is located inside the Valero Convenience Store right next to Sonic that sits in front of Albertsons grocery store on the Sycamore School Rd/ McCart intersection. What happened was I was running errands on a Saturday and I suddenly thought, I want a Chile rellano, that's what I'm craving. I was aware of Taqueria El Arquito but had never tried it. Even though it is located inside a convenience store I was confident because every time I have stopped in it's always bright and clean. All of the food service workers were wearing gloves and face masks. My Chile Rellano was okay. The rice had potatoes in it. I was like, is this on purpose? Is this a thing? I really liked the fajita beef tacos. The beef is kinda shredded or chopped up than whole. The trompo tacos had good flavor. If you get the mi special, it comes with rice and beans. You also get a pepper, sauteed onions, raw onions and cilantro, and two sauces. I didn't care for the rice and beans, but I enjoyed the tacos and everything it comes with. They have agua frescas. At first I was strongly recommending this place but after the second day being at this location I refuse to go back. My first visit here was pretty good it's a shop inside a gas station and they have a small spot to sell food. Ordered the trompo special with 10 tacos and it comes with slices of pineapple,lemon, onions, cucumbers,cilantro, chopped onions and a Serrano pepper. All that for $20.20 which is a bit steep even though their website is priced at $11.99 to order and the sign up front is different and it's priced at $15. I was praising how good the food was and all those sides that came extra were damn good. It was soo good that the very next day I went back to order more and that's when it hit the fan. These jerk offs disrespected me and I was discriminated by my own kind. When I ordered food the older guy just gave me a bad vibe when I asked for the same order and the guy didn't even give me a chance to tip(which is ok because I wasn't going to) we got our order and we ate there I noticed he gave me a fraction of what was given the day before because the tacos had little meat and I was given only a few sides unlike the day before. I figured it's close to closing time and he probably ran out since it's 30mins before they close. I let it slide but then my bro ordered a big order to take home but he spoke to the older guy in Spanish and I noticed his attitude was different he was all smiling and talking to my bro and he even gave my bro a chance to tip(he didn't) so when the food was made we left and I said hey he acted different with you when you spoke Spanish so he said the same thing so I said man he didn't give me much on our tacos and even the pineapple was gone. Please hire someone that speaks English!! I like the food but the employees can't even count the money and change properly either. This is an on-going issue. It took the third person to come up to the counter just to take my order. But most importantly they overcharge in cost! I'm a restaurant owner myself as well as an entrepreneur. The previous menu posts on Yelp are old and the prices are completely different. I understand inflation and especially in the food industry, but I want the consumers to be aware. Each of the tacos (including breakfast) are the 4inch tortilla size. They are $2.79 each. But here's the kicker....for every "tiny, 1 ounce" salsa they charge u $1.03. The salsa does not come with your taco purchase!! The man said for every six tacos they will give the customer two salsas. I purchased a total of five and received zero. So I asked for 5 salsa and was charged the extra fee. No problem because I wanted them with my order. So in conclusion, when you purchase a 4inch tiny taco and a 1 ounce salsa for your tiny taco, you are basically paying $1.00 per inch. Crazy right? I was in the mood for a milanesa torta and this place came up on my Yelp search. I ordered the milanesa sandwich and felt I had to try to trompo because it looked too good to pass up. I have been back twice since. This review covers all of my visits. I am giving a five star review purely for the food. I also had given a five star review to Dona Suzy, another gas station taco shop. This review in some ways compares both of them. Please note, again, this is a gas station taco shop. Please do not come expecting fancy Mexican food. Do not come expecting a great place to sit and eat (although they have a high table for eating there). This is purely a review of the food for the price. - Milanesa torta - this is excellent and I have been back for it. My one knock on Dona Suzy was that the way they cook the milanesa on the flattop, the breading tastes a little burnt (and that the ones I make are better :-)). That is not the case here. While my milanesa happens to be better, this one is extremely good and makes for an excellent sandwich. As I said, I've been back already for it and I will be back again. Trompo taco - the trompo is excellent. I normally love me some al pastor. I did not know the difference and have since been educated that the meat is the same but the preparation of al pastor is different. Trompo doesn't have the pineapple sweetness of al pastor, but it is very, very flavorful. Trompo burrito - this is a good burrito. I personally think the Dona Suzy burrito is better, but El Arquito is the second best burrito I've had in the DFW area (and I have tried more burrito joints than I probably should). I assume they are open on Sunday. Dona Suzy is not. If I am feeling a little hungover or just in the mood for a Sunday burrito, I will not hesitate to come to El Arquito to give it a try. I don't think I have tried their chicken or carne asada. My kids would prefer it, but I have only tried this when I've been at work so I have not shared with them (with the exception of the milanesa... I shared that and they loved it). read more

I ordered the Mi Special, which comes with three tacos of your choice, rice, beans and fixin's. The green sauce is smooth and mild, with bright flavors that really complement the juicy meat, while the red sauce has a nice kick to it. You can get a big order of tacos for cheap, a bit over one dollar per taco. They also serve breakfast until 11AM, and it seems they're open quite late as well.
