I have been about 8 times to Taqueria Limon and had really good experiences. The food is really good, they have an awesome salsa bar with pickled carrots and everything. The whole place is immaculate and the staff are friendly and helpful. There are always families there and it appears to be loved by lots of people. This has been a new find go-to place for us and had no plans to change this until unfortunately, last night when I found a 4" piece of thick wire in my burrito. It didn't cut me or anything but it was shocking to find something like this in my food. How the heck did it get there? I know that mistakes are made in kitchens and all but it was just weird... kind of a big oversight. It looked like a piece of the mesh from a strainer, maybe stainless steel. I brought it to the counter and mentioned that they should know about it. The staff person was empathetic and apologized and asked if I wanted my money back which I did not request. I had already eaten 3/4 of the burrito and was just really bummed out that this could have happened at one of the very few places that we actually really like going to. We left without eating anything else and don't feel like we can go back. One good thing that comes from this about this is that it was me and not someone's kid or an elderly person or someone looking for a frivolous lawsuit who might have gotten the wire in their food. If it was in my wife's food, this review would be considerably more venomous. I am unharmed and harbor no resentment toward this place. I just want it to be known that this happened and hopefully the kitchen staff will be more diligent. It may seem like the worst is that they have lost just a couple of customers but we genuinely liked going here and it's a bit depressing that we just can't see going back. Another good thing that could happen due to this is perhaps management may take this as a time to reflect on kitchen practices. Excellent burritos! I just tried this place today for the first time and it was delicious. I got a super burrito with a tomato tortilla and shredded chicken and it was amazing. Seriously I love burritos so I have a pretty high standard when it comes to Mexican food. The price of the burrito is reasonable but the flavor is king. The melted cheese and sour cream are perfectly mixed with the chicken and yummy rice. This might soon by my go-to Mexican place. I highly recommend trying their burritos. read more

Update from my previous review. They're food is delicious and I'm beyond impressed with their customer service. I had a disappointing experience previously and the owner promptly sent me a message through yelp apologizing for their error. He asked me to give them another try and he would personally ensure that the order would be made correctly this time. I am so happy I tried them again. Just had it for dinner tonight and everything was delicious! Burritos were loaded with everything I asked for, meat was tender and flavorful, salsas were delicious. I love the tacos because they're not just plain meat in a tortilla. They come with cilantros, salsa, and grilled onions on top. They're amazing! Repeated visits prove quality is more poor than when first opened. The last 3 visits I have been unimpressed with the quality of food received. The last trip, for example, was a steak burrito with a constant flow of grease everywhere. This spot is our go to Mexican spot because it's right across the street from where we live. It's probably one of the better Mexican spots we've eaten in contra costa. It took my family and I a while to find something good out here since we came from the east bay where taco trucks and Mexican spots are everywhere but definitely not disappointed. Their carnitas are smackin. I always get that here which is surprising since I usually choose steak. I order street tacos and platters from here quite often as I live just across the street and have never had an issue. Today though I ordered their Breakfast Burritos and they were awful. I ordered a bacon breakfast burrito. I got a chorizo instead that had chorizo, some potatoes, and a lot, and I mean a lot, of gooey cheese. No scrambled eggs at all. The tortilla was also a bit stale. After 2 bites I had to throw it away. Complete waste of money and I'll never order it again. read more

I'm picky about my Mexican food and it takes a lot to get 5 stars for it but this place did it. Been twice to make sure it wasn't a fluke ... had one of the Best burritos ever. Shredded chicken was tender and all white meat. Perfect proportions of everything else (I got the loads one). And it was big portions too. Their chips are yummy not greasy. Came to Taqueria Limon on my lunch break one day when I was craving tacos. When I came in there was a good amount of people there eating their food (always a good sign when the restaurant is heavily populated in a week day at lunch time). I ordered an Al Pastor Super Taco (Cheese, onions, cilantro, sour cream, guacamole & Salsa) $3.49 and a Steak Regular Taco (Onions, cilantro & salsa) $1.99. My tacos were sooooo good! I love that they weren't stingy with the meat or the onions, cilantro, sour cream, cheese& guacamole. This is what makes a taco good in my book. Everything was delicious I especially enjoyed the Xxtra hot salsa! I LOVE spicy salsa and theirs was really flavorful. The woman who took my order was nice and she double checked my receipt to make sure she had my order correct. My total was $5.96. My order came out fast and was packed very nicely (I ordered my food to go). I received chips in the bag too! Which I wasn't expecting (next time I'm grabbing extra salsa!) The bottom line is that the food is mostly good, but this place is once again getting our orders wrong, so what difference does good food make?! The last time we ordered we specifically asked for shredded, NOT grilled chicken, but what did we get?--grilled, once again! We have ordered chile verde a couple of times and instead received carnitas in our enchiladas. Unfortunately I am allergic to canola oil so I could never try their food because that is what they use to cook. But my husband and children LOVE this place. My kids ask me to take them there at least twice a week. Hopefully they will consider cooking with Sunflower oil one day, which is way healthier any way, so I can also try their food. read more

Well I just found my new favorite taqueria in Martinez! Authentic taqueria right here, reminded me of the Mexican food I grew up eating. The al pastor super burrito was . Jesus, this has to be the worst place ever. First time, we went in and placed our order. It looked good with its big salsa bar; there were a lot of people & a large menu touting lots of delicious meat dishes along with vegetarian & vegan items, so it seemed so promising! We waited forever but sadly they had actually forgotten our order. Strike one. We finally got our food home & my "taco" was literally two corn tortillas, not even heated on a grill - they tasted & looked like they were straight out of a package - flat & piled with tasteless beans, way too much lettuce, with sour cream, tomato, guacamole, about 1/4 teaspoon of salsa and...wait for it...bell pepper. My hubby had camarones/shrimp a la diablo. The sauce was like a sweet barbecue sauce & also was not good. Strike two. The second time we went in & ordered & the food was just not good. I had chile relleno & my husband had carne asada. His was tasteless & tough & mine just not good. Have had much better elsewhere. I don't even want to say strike three here as just because we didn't like the food is not really entirely fair. The strike three came when we decided to try them a final time when my daughter was here & we told her they offered many vegan items. We ordered vegan & vegetarian burritos while my husband had a pork dish. His was good. Yay! We also ordered some pico de gallo with chips. It was very tasty. Yay!! But our burritos were not marked so we cut them open to see which was vegan & which was vegetarian (included cheese & sour cream along with a flour tortilla). These were hopelessly mixed up; no cheese on the vegetarian with minimal sour cream & guacamole & the vegan with an overwhelming amount of sour cream that was almost gross. If you can't eat dairy then the item is a complete waste. What was a bit disturbing were some items at the bottom of my vegetarian burrito that weren't included in the description...why were they there? Ugh. We won't ever go back. I only ate half of mine & when I came to those bits of old lettuce & meat (?) I just quit eating, LOL.
