This place was fab for happy hour. Loved the chips and the quesadilla. I'd skip the fish taco next time as it tasted too fishy for me. Happy hour drinks are very cheap- reminds me of 2006 New York!! Will be heading back for happy hour soon.

One of the few places in the city that has refried beans, their chips are great and I enjoy their salsa. My go to is their steak quesadilla, it can be a little oily, but it's delicious and they give really great portions of steak. It's a neighborhood spot, so it's always busy, a spa quit restaurant with cute decor, and fresh made margaritas.

This place was such a great find when another reservation fell through! It was around Christmas, and the festive decorations added so much charm. The drinks were absolutely delicious and very affordable, especially for the area. I started with chips and guac (classic and tasty) and had a burritas for my main dish, which was fantastic. Our server was super kind and efficient, making the whole experience perfect from start to finish. I can't wait to go back!

A hole in the wall place. Their drinks were good! I stumbled in here one night and they are open late.

Tacos were great! Reminded me of the kinds you can get in California. Good flavor with some spice on the steak ones. Fast service, expensive but good guacamole. Ambiance was a little loud. But overall good place. Would go back.

Seriously WOW! Some of the best tacos I've had in NYC and partnered with the amazing prices, run don't walk and try this place out!! Chill sit-down taco place with such a great vibe. Good food with great prices and excellent table side service. Yummy drinks also. Small but worth the wait for inside or outdoor dining.

It's Thank You Thursday, so Taqueria... thanks for being you! A review about Taqueria is less like a review and more like a love letter. Like, I'm truly obsessed with this place. When I lived in JC I was a regular. My husband and I had Taqueria approximately once a week. And then we moved, and I was sad. I was strolling around Gramercy looking for a spot to eat and BAM, there was a Taqueria! I knew they had a location on St Marks, but thought that was their only in NYC. It was like an oasis in the middle of the city. I like nearly everything on the menu, but since it was my first visit in a few years I had to stick to my faves: -GUAC. Every order comes with the best complimentary chips and salsa, but adding on guac is a must. It's just incredible guacamole, nothing else to say. -Tacos tacos tacos! Tacos are pretty small, so my suggestion is at least two. I always go with one carnitas and one steak, and they never disappoint. The meat is so juicy and tender and the corn tortillas taste homemade. -Rice and beans! Sounds basic, but the rice and beans here are my favorite ever. I always think back to a sign at the JC location that says 'the beans are made with pork fat and love' and yes, yes they are. This location has a nice sized outdoor dining section, so it wasn't hard to snag an outdoor space on an unusually hot day. Service was on point. I didn't see the inside, but it looked like they had a nice bar area. I'm sad to live far from Taqueria, but happy to know that after a few year hiatus it's just as good as ever. When I'm in the JC / NYC area it'll be hard to avoid returning.

The hype was absolutely worth it. The adobada tacos were hands down the best tacos I've ever had. The homemade corn tortillas were fresh and flavorful, and the adobada was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed with flavor. I also tried the carne asada tacos, which were good but definitely overshadowed by the adobada. Each taco came topped with onions, cilantro, guacamole, and salsa. Just a heads-up--the salsa packs some serious heat! Overall, this place completely lived up to the hype. If you're in the area and don't mind waiting in line, it's absolutely worth it.

We had our usual list of spots in Midtown East, but this time we wanted something a little different. We ultimately landed on Mexican, however even then there were several spots to chose from. One of my colleagues found CdM, and since we had nothing to lose we decided to check it out. In terms of physical space at CdM, there is very little; this is actually a walk-up spot hence it is solely a takeout restaurant. The menu is pretty straightforward - lots of Mexican staples with a good variety to choose from. The burrito bowl looked good so I decided to go with that - I was given choice of protein (I chose pastor) and types of beans (I chose black). The bowl was really good - all the ingredients tasted fresh and they were generous with the portion. They added sour cream to the top of the bowl and it came with a side of salsa verde which I thought was a nice touch. We also ordered some bags of tortilla chips to share - these were my favorite kind as they were semi-thick and super crunchy. Overall, I had a solid experience at Cinco de Mayo. It definitely hit the Mexican craving spot and I would have no qualms returning for another meal.

The birria tacos were really good (or so my son said) but sadly the taquitos were terrible. They literally just had unseasoned shredded chicken (but serves me right for ordering something so basic). The energy was flat, and that lack of enthusiasm carried right into the food. The menu needs a complete overhaul. I'm not sure if it's trying to be "different," but the taco options were unappealing just from reading the descriptions. I managed to choose the two best-sounding items I could find, and honestly, they were so bland I don't even remember what they were. The setup and decor were basic. This spot could be a fun hangout, but it would take a better menu and staff who actually seem to care. It feels like just another restaurant that's lost sight of creating an actual experience for guests. The lack of vibe is obvious--if you don't want customers, just say so. I'm giving 2 stars out of respect for the fact that people have to work for a living.

I didn't see any but saw buckets for umbrellas. I opted not to leave it there since I didn't wanna forget or risk someone taking it. I took it upstairs with me. My friend had arrived and was seated. Apparently, they do offer sleeves because she got one. But the 3 people who were at the hostess booth failed to offer me one. The beautiful ambiance will get your attention immediately. It is a stunning space. The tableware was gorgeous as well. We waited for our last friend to arrive who was almost half an hour late before ordering (we thought she'd arrive sooner). Our server, Matias was gracious about it the whole time. What we ordered: Drinks: Passionfruit Margaritas & Mojito - we were happy with them. Tlayudas, Guacamole y Salsas - this was really good and a great option for the table to share. The homemade chips alone were excellent. Liked all the different dips. Guac could've used some cilantro and more acid/spice. Tán Ceviche - I loved this. Super fresh and great flavor. Could use a touch of acid. My entree was the Shrimp & Crab Enchiladas - This was pretty good. The sauce could've used some spice and some acid to cut through the richness. My friend ordered the Yellow Corn Soup as part of her meal and she did not like it. She said it was too sweet which I thought was strange. I tried a spoonful and I agreed with her. It needed a savory note and again, acid would've done wonders. Also, the crab was a bit fishy in this. She enjoyed her tamal though. I tried a touch of the sauce and it was delish. My other friend had the Quesabirria which she was also happy with. To sum up: Ambiance: 5/5 The space is undoubtedly gorgeous. Food: 4/5 Beautiful presentation on everything but each dish lacks an element or two to make it a home run. Staff: Wait staff 5/5. Downstairs staff (greeters/hostess) 4/5. Needs to be more on point like offering customers sleeves for umbrellas or pointing out the buckets to put them in. At some point through our entrees a group of 3 women were doing a 10-minute photo shoot by the stairway where our table was. Absolutely inappropriate behavior and a manager should've stopped it. Camera flashes all up in our faces while we're eating wasn't cool. Overall, still a great elevated Mexican cuisine option. The slight tweaks would make this a 5 star place for me. I'd return to try more things.

If you are someone who is looking at an aesthetic place, this is a top contender. Unfortunately, I would say this place is better looking than the food is good. The food was fine, appetizers were all fresh but lacked any real depth in flavor. I wasn't too thrilled with the bone marrow I had either (but the tortillas come in the cutest basket). Personally, if it wasn't for the drinks and the space, I cant say this place is worth it - you're not coming here for the food. Another little complaint I have is the women's restroom on the second floor - right by the door is a floor to ceiling mirror which I understand was included to make the space seem bigger, but my friends and I agreed that it is a little misleading - I kept wanting to walk into it thinking there was more space there and not wall. I would recommend maybe putting a decal on it to clearly show its mirror.
