Found behind La Moreliana Meat Market

Taqueria La Esperanza is a small food booth/ trailer found behind La Moreliana Meat Market with a parking. This place is open until 3 am and is CASH ONLY. On a rainy Wednesday night, around 11:40 pm, my husband and I decided to check out this little eatery since it is just down the street from our vacation rental that we were staying at during our Austin vacation. We ended up ordering: Chicken Taco, $2.50, tax included- Generous amount of tender and juicy chicken with minced onions, cilantro and shredded cheese. A really filling taco, that can be easily made into a second, which is what I did since this taco is made with 2 corn tortillas. Barbacoa Burrito, $6, tax included- Barbacoa beef, so tender and flavorful. This burrito is a pretty large size, enough to feed 2 people. This burrito has plenty of generous portions of beef, shredded lettuce, onions and shredded cheese, all wrapped in a large flour tortilla. ------------------ (Total= $8.50, tax included) Our food was made fresh to order, but with a short wait time. Although there is picnic style bench tables, with a covering, we took our order back to our vacation rental (the benches were wet from all the rain Austin was having that day). Taqueria La Esperanza has a pretty small and simple menu but the food was delicious. Wished I lived closer so that I could try all their food offerings.

We stopped here on our self-guided taco tour of Austin. We tried the carnitas and el pastor. Both were average. Not wonderful but not bad. The verde sauce was extremely spicy so definitely try it before using! Service was very friendly and quick. If you're looking for a quick average taco in Austin, this is your spot!

    New prices... well worth it!

Nothing to add except I'm back again. This place is so fantastic and its so impossible to go wrong here I just told him I wanted a quesadilla with whatever meat he chooses inside. I KNOW this is about to be amazing and I'm so excited! I'm literally doing my happy food dance in front of his truck.

Amazing spot! Cheap, fast, plentiful, and SUPER tasty. I ordered the carne guisada and the barbacoa. Both were excellent. The carne guisada was top-notch! I've been meaning to visit this place for a while because I live so close, and I'm very glad that I finally did. I'll certainly be going back soon! Btw- it's a cash only location.

Parking is horrible, I almost missed the place. Guy wasn't really friendly. It's OK, I would make the drive to Rosita's if you could.

Cheap, fast, and delicious. Will definitely be back. The only downside is that they don't take cards. Worth hitting the ATM for!

Filled with thick sliced Turkey, fresh avocado, greens, jalapeno aioli, all wrapped in a Spinach tortilla. It is light, fresh and wonderful. As hard as I try to eat healthy, I always get an order of sweet potato fries. Served with the same jalapeno aioli and curry mustard (all made from scratch) for dipping. They are simply out of this world. The trailer has an enormous hand fabricated smoker attached to the front of the trailer, and the BBQ that comes out of it is moist, flavorful and mouth watering. They make a pulled pork sandwich (no shortcuts here, it is smoked for about 16 hours), served on Texas Toast with a helping of BBQ sauce. Smokey, tender and tons of flavor. Their smoked wings are seasoned with salt and pepper only and flash fried to crisp the skin. Simple. Delicious. I broke down the other day and got the hand dipped corn dog with a side of stone ground mustard. It took me all of about 3 minutes to devour that bad boy. Like everything else Ive had, it was damn good. They offer several vegetarian/vegan options (salads, vegan corn dog etc.) as well, so they can cater to any group of people with different preferences. Lastly, the guys that work the truck are great. Food is always fresh, hot, fast and the service always friendly and helpful. If youre out on the east side and need a fix, night or day, F&S is where its at.

Soul and Fire used to be my choice of food, I always order the fried chicken sandwich because of how good and reasonably priced it is. But yesterday I found a fried June bug in my fries and I was not happy. I have probably been there 20 times and nothing like this has ever happened. Finding a bug in your food is never acceptable. Not to mention how moody the guy in the trailer was. He acted like it was a bad thing buying food from there. Look, it's your job to serve food, like it is mine. If you don't like it find another job!

The beef samosas were absolutely excellent crispy, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of our meal. Between the rolls, I preferred the shami kabab roll over the chicken tikka roll, though both were enjoyable. The mango lassi was decent, but not particularly memorable. The sweet lady behind the counter was incredibly kind, and it's clear that the people running this place are hardworking and passionate about what they do. We were visiting from Houston and took the food back to our hotel room for a late-night snack. We're so glad we decided to stop by! Mona's (a portmanteau of the parents names' first syllables) has a small menu of traditional offerings, from samosas, patties, parata rolls, and chutneys. The truck is helmed by Momma Mona but her twin sons run the operations and have crafted the recipes. I tried several items and it is absolutely ridiculous how delicious everything was. The samasos of potato (papa) were expertly crafted and reminded me of flautas de papa when they are done right. Crispy, flavorful, and "light" ... just perfect. The parata rolls, made from an egg based recipe, was expertly crafted; the shami kabab was filled with beef. Paired with the mint chutney, it was a great balance. The sauces were on point and varied in heat level, but nothing excessive. Sameer (sp?) explained that the sauces are a bit on the milder side to accomodate the taste palate but the spiciest version had some punch. Last but not least was the beef patty which was a stellar, absolutely phenomenal flaky pastry with their signature shredded spicy chicken. It rivaled some of the best bakery offerings I've had, the flakiness left me laughing out loud from the quality. Whenever I venture into another culture's cuisine, I can certainly tell if I like it or not, but not how rooted the dishes are. I appreciated Sameer's discussion of his families food; his mom has been in the industry for years and finally decided to venture out with her twin sons. I'm glad they did. The craziest realization was that there was likely so many drunk patrons who stumble out of Shangrila at 2:10AM likely have no idea they had some of the best Pakistani food you can find. *Shout out to Joe from Taano Beverages for the rec; he's neighbors with Mona's. Always lovely to see small business genuinely support other small businesses.
