I take back all the sh*t I've been talking about Mexican food in ATX; finally a restaurant woth some pretty tasty Mexican food that really reminds me of home (not El Paso). Their drowned taquitos are exceptional and truly hella better version than those popular ones on El Paso. Crunchy, drowned in either a spicy green or red sauce or both and loads of cheese - hell yes! Their menudo is spicy and plenty, serve hot to cure your cruda. Their burritos are massive, enough for 2. We had the Menchaca and it had brisket machacado, beans and cheese. All those flavors melded together forming this exquisite and savory filling wrapped in this giant, homemade tortilla. Their micheladas are cold and perfect way to quench your thirst. Still have tried their brunch but dying to. Unfortunately, they only serve brunch the first sunday of every month. Gonna be the first in line next month!

One of my favorite places to go to when in South Austin! ANYTHING on the menu is delicious so you can't go wrong with anything you order! We had the gorditas, asada fries and their famous rolled tacos! We paired it with red beers (micheladas)! The service and vibe is amazing as well!

Tried out El Perrito with my wife and a friend, and honestly, it was a fun and tasty surprise--especially for a hot dog spot inside a Mexican joint. We ordered the loaded fries and loaded nachos to start things off, and both came out looking like total crowd-pleasers. Flavor-wise, they hit the spot--cheesy, spicy, and fully loaded. The only knock for me was that they got soggy pretty quickly, which made them tough to enjoy by the end. Now, onto the hot dogs--which are the real draw here. I went with the Dogstin and so did my buddy, while my wife had the Chuco Chili Dog. All of them had a unique twist--definitely not your standard ballpark dogs. The buns were soft, toppings were creative, and the balance of flavor and heat was solid. Also worth mentioning: this place is super friendly on the wallet. You get a full, flavorful meal without breaking the bank. Service was quick, and the vibe was laid-back--great for a casual bite with friends. Would come back, but maybe skip the fries and nachos unless they find a way to keep them crisp. Still, a cool little spot doing something different, and doing it well.

This is exactly what I've been looking for a way to satisfy my El Paso cravings! The rolled tacos in sauce were absolute perfection, and the crinkle-cut fries were delicious and a very generous amount. The horchata was a sweet, homemade surprise that tied everything together. The restaurant has a cozy, easy setup where you order at the counter, and they bring the food to your table no long waits for a server. The space is kept clean, with great music and a couple of TV screens adding to the place. My only complaint, but is it even a complaint! I just wish they weren't so far south! But every time I'm in the area, this will definitely be a must-stop.

Great place for some cheap margs and delicious El Paso style food! You order at the bar and your food comes out pretty quickly. They have lots of different fun drink options and great weekday food and drink deals including a taco Tuesday deal on the rolled tacos and tequila shots. The rolled tacos in the salsa and the fries were my favorite! Followed closely by the crispy tacos and flautas. The spicy red salsa that comes with the flautas was perfection. A band called Madisons is playing here every Tuesday in June 2025 and it's a great time! Highly recommend for south Austin peeps and I'd say worth it for a trip down here for the north peeps!

I've been looking for shredded beef tacos and taquitos since moving here in 2012! They use Anaheim peppers for their relleno! Poblano peppers don't cut it! My new favorite restaurant in Austin!

Saw this place come up in my IG feed and immediately knew I had to surprise my significant other with a taste of his hometown comfort food. I rarely ever venture south or to this area of town, but the drive was well worth it. The food was simple, but delicious. Definitely worth the drive and the calories.

Tried the menudo here and it was really good--El Paso style, served with bread instead of tortillas. Honestly, some of the best menudo I've had! The place also serves hot dogs, and I'm definitely coming back to try one. Worth the visit. Have a 3 cause it was solid. May go up if it hits next time.

This place is so delicious! I ordered the ELP Tacos and the ELP fries and everything lived up to my expectation! I also ordered the Red Beer (My first time having one) and it was so GOOD! I paired it with the Beer SOL. I normally drink Micheladas and the taste was very comparable. I would recommend this place to anyone especially if you are from EL Paso. The customer service was great! It was my first time here and everyone was welcoming, kind and helpful when I was ordering. I went on a Sunday evening and there was no line the food came out very quickly. I will be going back again especially when I have family come in from Out of Town.

My first time eating El Paso style tacos. Tasty and definitely different than any tacos I've ever eaten in Austin. Everything is made fresh and they even make their own taco shells. This establishment grew from a food truck to where they are now in a brick and mortar and it's understandable why it's survived.

Cauntos Tacos was recommended to me by my BF, and we decided to go all in with the "1 of Each Kind"…read moremenu option. Boy, am I glad we did this--it was the perfect way to try a little bit of everything and compare favorites side by side. Sauderos - One of my top choices. Great texture and flavor with a nice richness to it. That said, carnitas and longaniza still edged it out for me. Cachete - Almost felt like a milder cousin to the carnitas. I personally preferred the milkier flavor profile of the carnitas, but this was still delicious and incredibly satisfying. Buche - Softer and mushier than I would typically like in a meat filling, but the flavor itself was undeniably good. Texture held it back a bit for me. Carnitas - A classic milkiness that's genuinely hard to beat. Rich, comforting, and probably one of my favorite carnitas I've had so far. Definitely a standout. Longaniza - I've never really been a chorizo person... until now. This completely changed my mind. Deep red color, intensely meaty flavor, rich without being overwhelming--easily one of my favorites of the bunch. Champiñones - More flavorful and spicier than I expected. The mushrooms had a pleasantly chewy texture instead of turning mushy, which I appreciated a lot. Great mushroom flavor overall. Revuelta - Not actually on the menu, but something we personally requested. Delicious combination of meats, though tasting everything back-to-back made this one come across a bit saltier. Still, the pairing worked really well and made for a satisfying bite. The sauces deserve a mention too. The green sauce packed noticeably more heat and leaned herbaceous, while the red sauce had a beautiful smokiness that completely won both my best friend and me over. Service was honestly one of the fastest and most efficient I've seen from a food truck. Everything moved quickly and smoothly despite the steady flow of people. My only real downside had nothing to do with the food itself--I hated standing outside at 8 PM dealing with bugs while eating, but that's more the nature of the setup than the fault of the truck. Overall, I was genuinely impressed by the meat quality and how distinct each taco felt from the next. Carnitas and longaniza were the clear winners for me, but there honestly wasn't a bad taco in the lineup.

5 Stars - So Good, Worth the Hype…read more We finally tried Cuantos Tacos and wow... it absolutely lived up to the hype. Food: The tacos were incredible--fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. You can taste the quality right away. Everything was seasoned perfectly, and the tortillas tasted fresh and authentic. We tried a few different tacos and honestly didn't have a single miss. Simple menu, but done really, really well. Service: Service was friendly and efficient. Even with a line, things moved quickly and the staff were welcoming and patient. You can tell they know what they're doing and take pride in the food. Ambiance: It has that fun Austin food-truck vibe--casual, lively, and a little busy, but in a good way. It feels like one of those places locals love and keep coming back to. Overall: Easy five stars. Amazing tacos, great service, and a cool atmosphere. Definitely a spot we'll be coming back to again and again.

I ordered 2 steak tacos and horchata, both very delicious. The horchata is milky and sweet but not crazy sweet, and topped off with cinnamon. The steak tacos came out pretty hot, fresh from the grill. I got them on corn tortillas and I'm glad I did: idk if they make them in house but somebody in some house is making these because they definitely aren't store bought, and if they are I want to know where! I tried the orange habanero and creamy serrano salsas. The habanero was spicy off the bat, while the serrano had more of a lingering burn. Both paired well with the steak. They have a little bar, too, though I did not imbibe this time. Seems like they have a decent selection of agave spirits, and even Campari behind the bar (iykyk).
