I've been hearing about this place and my husband and I finally tried it. They brought out some homemade chips and salsa while we were waiting for our food, they were so good. We decided to share everything so we could try mote items. We got a carnitas Gordita, carnitas torte, a fish taco, and a couple lengua tacos and a large horchata and it was only $25! . Went in today had the asada fries and and burrito. The burrito was terrific. Would go again for the burrito. I saw reviews on here pumping the asada fries but unfortunately they fell a little flat. It was a small portion with minimal toppings. The fries missed but would go back to try other menu items. The burrito was very good so I'm sure they have other stellar menu items. read more

This place is a small hidden gem located in Mission Hills! You need to check it out! Best Mexican food in Lompoc. My favorite dishes are the torta de asada, super burrito de asada, and MENUDO! Menudo is only available on the weekends but it is so good! Francisco, the owner, is very nice and he always makes sure his food tastes the best it can. 3rd generation San Diegan who has slowly migrated north. I've eaten at a lot of "shacks" over the years. This place is tucked away from the main part of Lompoc, but is close to our new house. In my experience, a place that looks like this (unassuming part of a small, older strip mall) ends up being quite bad or quite good. I'm happy to report that Taqueria La Mision (TLM) is quite good. Let's get the one negative out of the way - my sope had lettuce and not cabbage. I know places that do lettuce but my favorite has always been King Taco in Los Angeles, and they do a mean al pastor sope with shredded cabbage and cotija cheese. I can forgive TLM though because the sope itself was awesome. Obviously home/hand made and freshly cooked. Melts in your mouth - in contrast to King Taco which sometimes is on the tough side. The other bellwether for a place like this is the carne asada. TLM's is fantastic. Nothing else needs to be said, they do it right. After we ate I talked with the cook (who I assume is the owner, and his kids worked there on this Saturday). He was making salsa. By hand. From scratch. Roasted peppers and other spices in the blender for the smoky red salsa (which is mild). He had another pot of tomatillos, jalapeños, and other bits that would be for the verde (spicier). We just moved here and this place will be in the regular rotation. Highly recommended. read more

We also had a sope de al pastor and it was spot on (todo fresco y hecho a mano). Rice & beans were simple, yet delicious. Chorizo con huevo was good. Definitely try the birria if you're traveling or around the area on a weekend (you might get lucky on weekdays). I have been wanting to come here for a while. I live way on the other side of town so I usually just stick to my regular haunts. I am so glad I did. My daughter and son in law invited me to join them cause they tried this place last week and loved it. I was not disappointed . I had the carne asada torta. The roll was delicious. It was slightly grilled on the outside and soft on the inside. The meat was moist and generous. The flavor was spot on. My S-I-L had the same thing as I did and he thought it was really good too. OMG! I can't say enough wonderful things about the food here! The people are nice too :) I've tried a few things and have loved everything, but the Huevos Rancheros is out of this world! If I weren't in a public place, I'd lick the plate! Even thinking about it now as I type this review, I want to go again this weekend for breakfast! Food was ok. When i looked them up on the internet i checked out their menu it seemed ok so i called, the women/ girl was super unprofessional it kind of bothered her that i called. I still ordered my food but when i was finished ordering she hung up with out even telling me the total. When i picked it up it came up 16 dollars over the menu price of the whole order. She tells me nope that's old prices I recommended for them to update it and she just told me to go on instagram for prices. Im sorry but umm not everyone has social media. Discovered this phenomenal place while visiting for a swim meet. This is an awesome authentic Mexican Food restaurant!! Let's begin with this is a smaller place with one cook, who happens to be the owner and maybe 2 workers who are his children, so if you expect super fast when it it full. Patience is a virtue but the food is so worth every second you wait for it. We love this place so much, we decided to go a send day for lunch and invite 15 of our friends. We were greeted immediately upon arrival and as soon as we sat down, we were given chips(homemade corn tortilla chips) and salsa that was a bit spicy but roasted chili and fresh! My daughter and I ordered carnitas plate and 3 ceviche tostadas! Delicious! They serve homemade corn tortillas and they are mouth watering! The carnitas was fresh with fresh guacamole and pick de Gallo, rice was authentic like my grandmas with beans. The ceviche was mouth watering and probably the best ceviche we have had on the coast. The reviews are all true this place is a gem. Ice cold drinks and the interior restaurant is super clean. The tacos dorados and fish tacos were really good but the stars were definitely the asada tacos with fresh tortillas and the sopes. Wow! Most definitely will be coming back often. My first time eating here. A friend at work recommended the posole here so I figured I had to try at least once. I believe they only have posole here on the weekends and they open at 9:00 a.m. in the morning. This appears to be a family run business, the young son is the one who rung up my order. The posole here is phenomenal. The broth taste of chilies and a pork and is not too spicy or over the top. The chunks of pork are large but they are not dry and extremely flavorful. Too many times I try pazole and the pork just seems overcooked and dry, not here though. Lots of hominy throughout. The side is cabbage, chopped onion, two wedges of lemon and a red chili oil that had a little bit of a bite but not over the top. I ordered mine with corn tortillas which I found out, after I bit into one, were made in-house. This bowl of posole and an ice cold beer was the perfect start to super bowl Sunday. Anyone who comes here would be well served to order the posole. I will definitely be coming here again. read more
