    Chiles Rellenos

i literally never leave reviews but this just blew me. don't get the chile rellenos worst i've ever seen. cheese not even melted and sauce was watery. just take it off the menu. at least the rice and beans and tortillas was solid so i could have something to eat. service was nice but lord i just paid 20 dollars of a small side of rice and beans. not feeling well now also. so unfortunate.

Amazing family owned taqueria! Great portion sizes, reasonable prices for the quality of fresh ingredients and meats. The person at the counter was kind and courteous. The chefs were efficient and asked if the food was to my liking and were very kind. Good amount of space to dine in. Quick service! Definitely a must stop when visiting or even if you're a local.

Ok not only is this a mom and pop place that I want to support, but the food is really very good!!!! We walked in and service was immediate although they were fairly busy. We didn't know what we wanted because we hadn't seen a menu before for this place. I loved in San Diego so I'm used to taco shops... this is a very traditional street taco shop style... food and price and flavor! I asked a few questions.... got very good answers. We were offered a few samples as they could tell my parents aren't familiar with the style. I ordered a carne asada Street taco for $1.50. I ordered a ceviche tostada for $4. I'm freaking love ceviche and this is the first place I've seen it here. I azked a lot of questions and liked what I heard. Mom got a burrito supreme. Dad got a huaranche. We also decided to get some homemade flan after she left us try it!! Total bill was around $20. Food came out quickly but you could tell all of the ingredients were fresh! All of them... the fresh ingredients were fresh, the meat was freshly cooked... just very appetizing! The street taco was a classic street taco and had great flavor. I will order with cotija and avocado next time! The ceviche came as I ordered it with the flying saucers on the side and a separate bowl of the shrimp mixture. I squeezed four lime pieces into it because I like a lot of citrus in my ceviche. This was awesome. Although they used the tiny shrimp which I normally hate --- it worked. The veggies were all fresh and chilled. With a little tapatio this meal was complete. They serve red and green salsa which are both good. The burrito was huge. Truly bigger than I expected. Mom said it was fantastic... I'd never heard of the huaranche before... but it looked exactly like the picture which is a good thing. Dad loved it and he can be picky with being impressed. All in all I will definitely be back! A big thank you to Dan at Gresham Toyota for recommending that we visit! A hidden gem I want to support. To those writing reviews complaining about the street taco size.... uh know what you're ordering lol they make street tacos exactly right...

there's a LOT of five star reviews (michael G, Joshua C, William L etc) so I better pile on. the decor of this small place was underwhelming (basic dining area, order at the counter) but I wasn't there for the atmosphere. I'm a san diego transplant and I have been hunting for decent authentic mexican food in the gresham area for years. In case you Chipotle diners are wondering what Mexican food is like, please come to Tacqueria Santa Cruz. I ordered an Horchata (sweet rice drink), a chicken Huarache (wuh-rah-chee) and a couple tacos (the little street style tacos/ al carbon): a Lengua and a carni asada. the Hurarache is a "sandal sole" of corn masa filled with meat of your choice, beans lettuce tomato and cheese. super tasty. you can fork and knife it or you can pick it up, pizza style, if you are in a hurry. it's like a sope (little round masa boat) but wider and longer...but sope is a little harder to find in town. the little tacos were spectacular- meat was moist and tender. Lengua (tongue) can be tough at some places but TSC's lengua was just as tender as the carni asada. the red sauce was mild but had great flavor with a little bite of habanero on the back end which I enjoyed on the way home. I'll return soon.... next time - I'll try the Huarache Supreme and a couple more tacos. maybe some rolled tacos - TSC calls them Taquitos. after my Huarache and my tacos, I was full but not staggering. give them a shot, you won't be disappointed!

A gem in a place where it's hard to find "real" Mexican food. Delicious and authentic. Family who runs it are wonderful.

I like the chicken enchiladas. The people are nice. The parking is limited, but I have been able to squeeze in every time.

We visited a high school friend of my wife and Yelp helped us pick a good place to eat a late…read morelunch...a neighborhood mexican restaurant with a unique menu featuring Birrias, goat or beef? They are also heavy on seafood so there are plenty of choices available. The lunch menu is just a shorter version of the dinner menu. There is a full bar with specialty cocktails. I ordered up sparking water to was down the guacamole and salsa with freshly cooked tortilla chips. M ordered up a mango margarita, it had a full rim of salt and spices, looks good. My Linner was a baja taco, one shrimp, one fish, M ordered the shrimp and cheese taco. I had to ask that the shrimp in our tacos would be shell off, our server confirmed, shell less. I asked because most of the photos on the menu show the shrimp with head, without head but all with shell on...I prefer not to fuss with peeling the just cooked hot shrimp. The guac was really fresh and good, the chips a bit over cooked. Then the drinks arrived and the entree's followed shortly there after Plain and simple three various taco's with some tasty refried & whole beans with your standard orange Spanish rice....hum. I guess it's a toss up on the rice, a unique almost Spanish rice with a flavor twist or the comfortable, household, everyday orange Spanish rice that won't scare anyone away. The taco's were great, fat with plenty of the larger shrimp (with no shell) cabbage and other stuff to fill the tortilla. We all enjoyed our meal and I would certainly entertain a return visit if we lived closer. By all means it's a great place to try what you like and maybe add something you wouldn't normally order to enjoy something new. Great Service! Thank you, Martin-foodguy
