This might be as good as it gets..... Carne Asada tacos were on point! My teenager got the taco combo plate and said the meal was well worth our time and $. She even made me order another combo to go to take home ..... which her brother promptly ate! I had the hurache and it tasted amazing. I haven't had a good meal like that in a while at a taco shop. The gentlemen working the counter were fast and friendly. I think we might have to make a trip out to Gresham more often because the food here is just that good! I've ran into some people who have said that I have to try this place. I ordered a pretty large order for my family. We tried the carne asada plate, chicken tacos and burritos. The tacos and burritos were a good size. The carne asada plate was a little smaller then I'm used to getting but it was good and my boys were full. They gave me tons and tons of red sauce which is always a bonus in my book. The gentleman who took our order was incredibly polite!! I've eaten here twice in the last couple of weeks, tried it based on Yelp ranking and this is the best Mexican food I have had in Oregon. It's a tiny restaurant, but the staff is friendly and attentive. I had the supreme burrito both times, delicious! $7.00 My wife had the 2 tacos w/rice & beans $6.00 Salsas range from very hot to pretty hot but staff is happy to get you something mild if that's what you want. The tinga was wonderful, the two included sauces both red and green delightfully spicy with wonderful flavor and the best surprise? Have tried a few times. Friendly service, not exactly quick but not terribly slow and everyone has always provided good service so can't complain. I feel like the food has a lot of potential to be great, but the meat always seems to be on the dry side...not exactly freshly made. Also, it would be nice if they offered chips and salsa. Coming from Southern California we expected to have a difficult time finding good Mexican food. It's pretty hard to believe we ended up finding the best tacos we have ever had. Outstanding, traditional tacos for an incredible price. Tinga de pollo was our favorite by far but all their offerings are delicious. My only complaint is they have a loud door chime that blasts me in the ear on the way out. We will be regulars here as long as we are in the area. read more

Authentic Mexican home made food with fast friendly service in a casual but very clean restaurant. I had their scrumptious tacos - these are the small tender corn tortillas filled with your choice of meat and topped with finely diced onions and fresh cilantro plus a wedge of lime and your choice of red or green sauce. It's rare I write a bad review but I don't understand how this place gets such good reviews. When I specifically go somewhere based on their 4+ star reviews I expect it to be good. Taqueria Santa Cruz is mediocre at best. The Al Pastor was bland and their red sauce tastes like watered down ketchup and the steak fajitas were salty. If you want good Mexican food - do NOT come here. Gresham has several excellent Mexican places and this place only fantasizes about making that list. read more

Recommended by a local and we weren't disappointed. Food was excellent and quickly prepared. Super Burrito with Carne Asada had nice flavor and was very large. Easily a meal for anyone. All four salsas on the table were very nice, with the red providing a nice kick. Wife had four tacos (at $1.25 per), and took one home "for later" (something she rarely does unless the food is really good). I love being able to help out small businesses.
