The service was fast, you order at the counter and they bring you your food. Now, let's talk about the totopos--hands down the best chips I've ever had in my life! Their version of chips and salsa is a must-try and perfectly complements the tacos. Don't be afraid to try the frijoles dip and the queso, I swear, these are a must. Plus, you can't beat the location right across the water. It's a beautiful spot to enjoy your meal, and free parking after 6 PM is the cherry on top. This place has so many great reviews I had my hopes high. The food itself was not bad. They have a few interesting things on the menu like the popular grasshopper tacos which were crunchy, tangy and great! Though my complaint was the service. They have the QR code to scan on each table which in turn they deliver straight to you. I placed my order online and watched as 45 minutes worth of customers coming and going got served, ate and left. My family and I complained and were repeatedly told that our food was coming.. finally I showed them how upset I was just to find out they forgot and skipped my order. One of the best places in Miami to have a meal. First of all the food is amazing. The best blue corn tortilla chips anywhere in this world I've eaten. Tacos amazing - the pastor, the fish, & the shrimp are my go to's. Great beers to drink, or have the horchata if you want something a little sweet and refreshing to sip on. Next, the location. You are steps from the beach. Eat on the terrace surrounded by palm trees. Close your eyes and you can literally imagine you're anywhere you want. But why leave Miami, it's perfect here. Finally; the service. They care about your experience. They want to know you enjoyed yourself, the food, the whole experience. This is one of the best spots in Miami to have a real experience. Wow great tacos and an almost Key West vibe facing a quiet Atlantic view. Blur your eyes sightly and you would swear this is the beach in 1952 (grandma where are you). It is not over-run with hipsters at all. The food, ambience and service are fantastic. First the food: the set-up is a wide variety of taquitos (little tacos one at a time almost like tapas) with unusual ingredients and off-the-charts fantastic, They even home-made their own blue corn chips and 3 kids of salsa (ask for extra and try to smuggle home their "secret sauce" mango salsa). The chips are chewy and crunchy, like phyllo bread. Ambience was beautiful with the ocean and open-air veranda. Food is EXCELLENT!! I'm not usually terribly big on tacos... but the tacos and the food in general is always very very good. My absolute favorite is the Barbacoa - braised brisket with cumin, chiles, and negra modelo - the meat is so soft and tender it falls apart and melts in your mouth and is full of flavor absolutely delicious. If you're not in the mood for tacos ask to add the Barbacoa to their side of quinoa - red quinoa, charred corn, jicama, spring onions, and cactus vinaigrette - they go so well together and the quinoa is very good and quite filling. Taquiza has the best Mexican food I have eaten ever, and I've been to Mexico. They have numerous options for tacos, my favorite being the fried fish taco, but others including brisket, shrimp, cricket(yes the insect), pulled pork, and more. The tacos are spectacular, but their "Totopos" are truly where they shine. The Totopos are thick, black, fried corn chips. Frankly, they're extraordinary. They can be ordered with queso and guacamole, which only elevate the Totopos. Other than the food, which speaks for itself, the vibe is immaculate. On a nice day, sitting outside is gorgeous, even now when you can't see the beach because of the construction, the weather is still an incentive to sit outside. However, on a less nice day, the tables inside are still solid. It's not a full service restaurant, so you do have to order at a counter, but they bring the food to your table, and everyone is very helpful. Had me "totopos" that food dipping was the boom. Soft on the inside crispy on the outside and mind you the two sauce that comes along with it is mouthwatering. Guacamole and that spicy red sauce. This one is just as good! and the added bonus is this location has better parking as well as air conditioned indoor seating and a full bar! We started off with a michelada and the only thing I regret is not asking what kind of beer it came with, because I got Tecate. But oh well, still very tasty. The meat was perfectly seasoned, very tender and with some of that red sauce on top and cilantro and onion...it's game over. Unfortunately, the tacos are very small, so after two bites it really is game over. The al pastor was also very good. The achiote marinate complemented the grilled pineapple in every bite. Overall the service was great, food was decent but it's still a little on the high side for what you're actually getting. Maybe a good idea is to do double the tortilla specialty if the taco is $5 each . The seasonings on the meat was really good . Super disappointed this used to be my favorite authentic taco bar . The guacamole tasted like an avocado that has turned soft and brown on the inside . It may have been pre packaged guac honestly. The quesadilla was not awful but it was not the same as they use to be unfortunately I understand no bar during quarantine however they renovated the inside and I don't believe they will have a bar at all from now on . We did not order tacos to go because they only do that in 3 to an order . One of the things I liked most about Taquiza was being able to try one of each taco . I have a love hate relationship with this place. I bring everyone here when the visit because the food is good, the totopos are so unique and delicious with the queso (when they don't run out). The restaurant is mismanaged. I arrived at open today and not only were the pit of queso at the beginning of the day (second time this has happened when i've tried to go recently) but it took 24 minutes for our order of totopos chips and guacamole. Obviously you weren't ready to open at 12. You order food at the counter and are asked for a 15-20% tip when ordering. First why am i paying that percentage in a restaurant that isn't full service ?
