I have lived in Round Rock for 2 years and Tarka has been easily one of my favorite places to eat. The portions use to be nice size cuts and when you paid the up charge for extra, you would receive such. Today I purchased a Lamb Tikka Masala w/ extra shrimp. What I received was tiny cuts of lamb and 4 baby shrimp. Tasted amazing as always but they to get these portions corrected. read more

Wow! First time here. The aroma from outside brought me in. I am semi familiar with Indian cuisine but not an expert. One of the cashiers came out and assisted me and another family with the menu. So very helpful! I learned a lot about each dish. I got the garlic nan bread. It's a huge basket, I was expecting like 1 or 2 pieces! Very generous portions! Then it was recommended to have the Tinka Masala. I got mine medium heat with lamb. Oh goodness! Was so fresh and delicious! The portions can feed 2 people easily. They have a mobile app now. This is important as they're a completely cashless restaurant now. I ordered for pickup after working nearby. It takes about 20 minutes from order to food, give or take, but it's made fresh vs premade like some other faster places. I'll take the trade off of time for quality, especially for Indian style food. The food is always well spiced - I like heat - and their menu is clear on what can be ordered to different heat levels. Came to Austin for a rock climbing experience and tried this place for dinner. Very yummy and quick service. Had the chicken curry and it was a good portion and very yummy. The restaurant was nice had booths, and window seats we enjoyed for the setting sun. The naan bread was also amazing. Would definitely come back if we lived closer. read more

I took one star for their portion size/price decrease. I get they raised prices but why they decreased portions at the same time... Food taste is still good and service is nice. My sister ordered in San Antonio and the sticky tamarind wings were so good we stopped and found a Tarka in Round Rock. I got the sticky tamarind wings again and my goodness they were so good! Waaaaaaay spicier than in San Antonio and WAAAAAAY spicier than my niece's order. The heat and flavor were great. My mom and sister got coconut curry one chicken the other lamb and it was great! Words cannot express how delightful it is to have food that is comforting to the soul! The chicken tikka masala is flavorful and buttery. The naan has a great garlic taste to it, it's not over powering but still holding its own next to the cilantro which adds a nice contrast. Overall a great four pieces to eat, especially for all the garlic lovers! The rice, I cannot rave enough about the rice, I'm not sure if it's the seasoning it's boiled in or maybe the type of rice but on its own the rice is just as delicious as the chicken tikka masala. Overall a harmonious dish when paired with one another, a great restaurant that's been able to make each dish stand independently on its own. I ordered the Tikka Masala Curry Bowl with Chicken and my buddy ordered Tikka Masala Curry Bowl with Lamb. It seemed like he got a lot more protein in his than I did with my chicken. Needless to say the food was very delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. They even had to deal with a rude customer who cut in line in front of us and the customer continued to be especially rude to the staff. However, the staff were professional and still managed to keep their composure with the rude customer. Parking is a breeze a because there is plenty of parking in the shopping center. The price does seem a little high for a counter-service fast casual, but it's really good food. I would say, the portions seem a little small for the price, too. This place is good when you want Indian food and you need to be fast - although, the prices could be matched at a sit-down table service Indian restaurant, and the portions would likely be larger there. So... could you get more for less elsewhere? Yes. But is it good for what it is? Upon my multiple trips there, it's been consistently great. Wife and I went to Tarka in Round Rock today. We ordered a large Mulligatawney Soup, two orders of veggie samosas, an order of garlic naan, two orders of mild chicken korma, a strawberry lassi, and a fountain drink. The staff was very friendly and repeated our order to make sure it was correct. Our food was delivered to our table quickly and too heat hot to eat right away. The spice level was perfect for people who have a low tolerance for spicy food. The portions were very generous. Wife was thrilled because there was enough left over for her to have a large helping of chicken korma, a heaping helping of rice, and a couple pieces of naan for lunch at work tomorrow. To-go boxes were provided for free. We could have gotten away with one order of samosas since an order of samosas has two pieces. Thank goodness I didn't order double garlic naan! One order was plenty. I wish there was a Tarka in Killeen as Round Rock and Cedar Park are a long way from Lampasas where we live. read more

One of the better places I have been to for Indian food in Austin. The Garlic Nan is well seasoned, very soft and chewy, perfect to complement any dish! The coconut curry is spicy and flavorful! Tasty and modern! Had chicken and lam biriyani for dinner the other night. I had the kids bowl - chicken and my partner had the full lamb portion. We both opted for medium level spice. However, the chicken was created more modestly. We also got a side of roti. Over all the rice to meat ratio is a bit high. 4:1 is what I would estimate. The flavors are there. I also got the mango lemonade with my kids meal and it was delicious, very tangy but mango heavy. I added a bit of water and it was perfect. Their craft sodas are delicious! Tonight, I ordered over $50.00 worth of food for curbside pickup. In order to do this, I was required to download yet another app to my phone. Although I need another app on my phone like I need another whole in my head, I downloaded it anyway. When I pulled up curbside, I thought "oh joy, how lucky, my order is ready" as the app indicated my order was ready. Accordingly, I sit in car and I wait, wait and wait some more but guess what, no food. Therefore, I go into the restaurant and there my food is under the heat lamp. But, that's not all folks; when I went into the establishment, I had to wait in line behind another customer picking up a to-go order but had yet to pay. This may not be a big deal to some BUT I specifically indicated curbside and input the make and model of my vehicle, my license plate type and phone number on the order as required and downloaded an app just to be inconvenienced by going into the establishment, and I already paid before I went in the establishment to boot. I had a specific reason for NOT wanting to pick up inside as I have an immune compromised person at home. That's the last time I shall spend any money here. read more

We just ordered here for Uber eats tonight for dinner. Their to go order was packed well, full sizes, everything in there and was pretty prompt. We haven't been inside yet so can't comment on the ambiance. However, I am giving this a 3 star review. I found the food to be a little disappointing. I moved here from Tampa with a lot of great Indian food options and have been on the look for a new place here. I found their Tikki Masala to be too tomato flavored, almost burnt, and didn't taste a lot of the other aromatics that makes Tikki masala so addicting. It was very dark and very tomato. I wouldn't order it again. I found the chicken biryanis to also be so-so. The flavor was underwhelming and it truly did not come with enough yogurt sauce. The garlic naan was also subpar - did not look authentically cooked in the tandoor and was very texture like to frozen naan heated up. The samosa chaat was the best thing we got tonight, it was pretty good and well rounded. I do still prefer traditional samosas. One of our go to meals from this place has always been the Chicken Biryani (we ask them to make it spicy) and it has never disappointed us. Including the Biryani, we also ordered the Chicken Tikka masala so we could dip the garlic naan in the tikka sauce. Yum. Chicken Saag and Ras Malai. The Chicken Saag was not much on the creamy side, but still had a good flavor to it. The Ras Malai on the other hand was kinda disappointing due to the size of it. This small casual Indan restaurant has remarkably good food. This was my first visit and I am a novice when ordering Indian food. I ate their Chicken Tikka Masala with Jasmine rice. I requested they season t mildly, which they did. Even though it was close to closing, there was a full dining room and many delivery drivers coming in to pick up orders.
