We tried the mango ceviche and the Himalayan combo platter, all was fresh and delicious!

This is kind of a hidden gem in the strip center. I was going to go to Rosa's and saw this one peeking around the corner and decided to stop in here instead. Glad I did. They have some typical Tex mex stuff but also some more Latin America type dishes. Coffee was excellent. Service was excellent and I like the way the place feels. It's nice has a full bar and some TVs. Not much street exposure I think so it was pretty empty when I came. I hope word spreads as this is a neat little place. And I will come back to support them.

When we visit DFW, Ricky and Reesa always take us somewhere new to eat. This trip was Taro Kitchen, for Mexican food. Start with a trio of dips and thin, crispy chips. All you need to do is look at the pics to see how good the food is. Ricky's Carne Asada was excellent. Reesa said her chicken was wonderful. My Tacos Al Carbon were absolutely mouthwatering. Taro Kitchen hit a home run tonight and we will definitely be back. Thanks for a great meal!

Went here for Lunch with the family. Had the Queso blanco and Flautas for an appetizer. Both tasty, but the guacamole that came with the Flautas was really good. We had a Wedge salad, Burruchanga, and First Class chicken, all great!

We got a marketing text notification that one of the restaurants near us was reopening. We had known it as Taco Cielo and had visited a few times there. The makeover looks great and the theme has certainly gone from a short order seat yourself place to a finer dining atmosphere with lounging tables and bar. Limited patio seating (4-5 4 top tables) I took my two girls there 11 and 14 for an impromptu dinner, arriving about 6:15 on a Saturday. It was very slow when we got there but looked like more folks were heading in by the time we left about an hour later. Makes sense since it's more of an adult lounge/bar/restaurant place now. I didn't try any adult beverages but they had a nice list looked like on their laminated drink list the server gave us. I will get into more details but long story short: prices went up, place looks nicer, silver and settings much nicer, BUT the actual food that came out was just maybe a tad bit more sophisticated than Cielo but and I would not say it's a fantastic value. Flavors ok so I can say it's worth a visit to see what you think, but I will lay out my thoughts on the food. The Owner's Plate caught my eye. Ribeye with enchilada, squared potatos and pico for $29. It looks fair enough in the photo but the photo covers up the 1/4 inch ribeye sadly. Potatos not much different than short order cooked side. Initially the enchilada didn't make it on the plate and so our waitress had to bring it out on a separate plate. That photo is pretty accurate unfortunately. It looks like it was reheated and topped with microwaved carne. There were flavors here and there but just not fulfilling to me and curious if the owner really likes that plate. For the second most expensive item on the menu I'd say it needs work. My older daughter ordered the shrimp enchiladas and she reported that they were good but not great. I think what turned her off it a bit was the cheese skin that was on it when it was delivered to our table. It does come with cilantro rice on the side as well as what I thought was a tasty side salad. To me $17 about a dollar or two high but I will concede prices are up on everything including food. The youngest one of us had the best deal of the night though. Her kids quesadillas came out and they were pretty good. Normally $5 but you have to add a couple dollars to get chicken. But kids meal under $10 I'd say a score. Collectively we thought the guacamole seemed fresh made but lacked a little bit of zest and seasoning, and felt like they could have crushed up the avocado a bit more as it came out quite chunky. Might just be personal preference though. My wife was en route from a funeral in Louisiana so we decided to order one of her favorites, a ceviche!!! I ordered one and then when it came out I realized that it was not the right kind my wife would like. This one was tuna and the other one was shrimp. I do like tuna so I decided to keep it and take home to try the next day. Flavor good and it's mixed with mango and has that nice sharp twang that makes ceviche good even the day after. I'd order it again at $15. They brought another one out for us wrapped up and so we paid our bill and headed out. Only to find out later that night that they had put another tuna in there and not the shrimp (Booooo!). I did want to mention that they do have these large, plantain chips that they gave us with the ceviche. I'm a fan of that for sure. Mistakes aside, Overall it was a $93 bill and I'm comfortable with a 3 star. Paid $110 cash to cover. The food doesn't match the atmosphere and perhaps that will change so we'll come back and give another chance soon or maybe just lounge and have drinks there. Opening weekend so plenty of grace from us. Right now it's Cielo food with a new remodel....

The Guatemalan Breakfast along with complementary chips and three kinds of salsa.

My new favorite Latin (not Mexican) restaurant in Denton County! I've gone four times at different times of the day and night so far. Not only has the food been good, it's been some of the best I've ever had. The tacos, steaks, the Guatemalan Breakfast plate, and this morning, the Chef's Breakfast Sandwich, have all been incredible. Usually I'm a beer and whiskey drinker but this morning I tried the watermelon margarita (don't judge) made with fresh watermelon, and again, stupendous. Breakfast for two, with drinks, came to just over $50 -- not bad considering you'd spend at least that much at Old West for plain, old eggs and coffee and no adult beverages. Also, every customer gets complementary chips that come with three kinds of salsa. Service is great. Last night, the dining room was packed and some singles mixer group had bought out the bar but we never felt neglected or rushed. The restaurant inside is very nice, with a spacious bar area and a slim patio out front if you want to dine al fresco.

Five stars for excellent service. Phenomenal staff. Loved that the chef was so involved and accommodating. He takes pride in his work and really wants you to love the experience. Overall the food is good, they've got a huge menu that encompasses all things Mexican/Hispanic. We tried crab cakes and oysters which were both a hit. The carne asada was served with rice beans chorizo and we subbed potatoes for veggies. The drink selection has a lot of variety along with the classics and there are fresh fruit if you want something muddled. The ambiance is great with an open layout with tvs, a bar, and plenty of seating. Overall toro is great little gem that provides some unique variety from the usual cycle of other cocinas in the area.

Very best Latin food. The taro chips only are here. The specials are gourmet and well cooked. Try some large margaritas and watch sports too.

I agree with another reviewer who said this place is a hidden gem in Highland Village. Went there for brunch and it was INCREDIBLE. We also really love their basic cuisine like nachos and quesadillas, so good and so not basic with their special Latin flare and flavors. The quality is incredible, the service is good, the ambience is sweet. Don't sleep on this place. Going back asap for Happy Hour.

Service is what makes this restaurant great to visit. So friendly and hospitable. Food is good and consistent and it is a great option to have in our area. Have visited a couple of times and my dishes have been consistent. Comfortable and cozy seating.

Really good place. We had the chicken burrachango. It was really good. They had a nice bar setup. So my wife and I ate there. I would definitely go back and try again.

The experience was consistent with the same friendly, personal, amicable service that I received it each visit. The food was on par with what I've come to expect. And at Rustico, although the menu had few choices, one could tell that the quality represented there was consistent. Instead of trying to do too many things well, the restaurant has a few really good choices. At the table of six where I was sitting, we had burgers, steak, lamb chops, and I had Seabass. Plenty of different vegetables for sides and everyone satisfied. Not particularly stuffed, which isn't a bad thing. The location didn't seem conducive to big parties and even finding seating for our group of six seemed intrusive to the flow in the restaurant. Grace, our server, did a fantastic job of greeting our table, ensuring that we were well informed about the specials, and also ensured that we didn't miss the opportunity to order some happy hour drinks and appetizers before 6 o'clock rolled around. The only things that I would change would be having accommodations to suit larger parties, and possibly offering some specials that weren't just derivatives of menu items, but were truly special items. Verdict: Go check it out... multiple times. The value of the food and service combine for a well-rounded dining experience.

I made my reservation on Resy. A couple of days later I get a call from the restaurant saying they needed a $25 deposit over the phone, in case we cancel. I have dined at a lot of restaurants but never have I made a deposit upfront, they would just have a card on file and charge it if there is a no show. The lady on the phone (Chelsea) said we would only have 90 minutes at our table, which is standard for most restaurants. Nevertheless we paid $25 and kept our reservation, since Valentine's Day is busy time I figured this was the reason for all of this. Upon our arrival we were seated right away, and as soon as we sat down the hostess let us know that they would need our table by 5:45pm, because that is when the next reservation would be there. Right off the bat I felt rushed. I hated the table we were sat in, because we were so close in proximity to other people. Tycoon is very pretty inside, but if you are not seated in one of their spacious booths, the other tables are so close together, you will definitely hear other people's conversations. Let's talk about the food, I ordered the Lavender Lemonade as my cocktail and that was really good. For our appetizer we had the Deviled eggs, and I was excited because I love Deviled Eggs, but these were just okay. I didn't love how over stuffed they were, I just felt like it was too much. For my entree I had the Chicken Parmesan which I thoroughly enjoyed. I thought my meal was flavorful and the pasta was perfectly cooked. My husband had the sea bass and he loved his food. To end the night we shared their Dessert Trio and that was delicious, aside from the Creme Brûlée because that had no taste. Their service was good. Our waiter was nice and attentive. I definitely didn't feel rushed by him, but the same hostess stood near waiting for me to take my last bite of pasta so she could take the plate from the table. We were watching the time the whole time to make sure we got out of there on time. Overall I was disappointed. I get that Valentine's Day is busy day for restaurants but I don't want to be rushed through a dinner that should be enjoyable.

A short time later, the other bartender came to check if I was ready to order. The menu has "somewhat" improved. Gone is the messy and expensive Seafood Boil. In addition to the regular menu, there was a Wednesday Dinner Special and the Bar Top Bites menus. Of the three items on the Dinner Special menu, only the Cheesecake Basque dessert was on the regular menu, priced the same. Believing the portion size would be appropriate, I decided on The Hottie Calzone from the Bar Top Bites menu. The calzone took about 16 minutes. The server almost served my food to the customer who sat next to me. When the bartender came to check on me, she mentioned the calzone was missing the marinara on the side, and immediately went to the kitchen to grab it. The calzone was smaller than expected. Nor was it as stuffed as hoped. Considering its price was about half of their equivalent 12-inch two-topping pizza, it should have been expected. Because the jalapeño was not overpowering, the combination of the pepperoni, mozzarella, and the peppers was enjoyable. Although I still had an appetite, I passed on dessert. Many of the dessert items were served with caramel ice cream. Not a flavor top on my list. Also, my dining experience was not entirely pleasant. A nearby customer and the manager had a somewhat lengthy discussion about paying for an ice cube. Although it ended before I finished my meal, I was not in the mood to stay longer. In other words, you'd never catch a glimpse of it by simply driving through town (thank goodness for Google maps!) and even many of the locals are unaware of its existence. We did manage to find it though, with hopes that the food would be worth the effort it took to get there. My husband and I both started with caesar salads. Other than being a little heavy on the dressing, they tasted ok. The pecan crusted salmon and mac & cheese were next for me. The coating on the salmon tasted like the same stuff a Thanksgiving sweet potato casserole is topped with. Unfortunately, that's the one thing I never touch because I'm just not a fan of the flavors. Unlike the salmon and salad, there was nothing objectionable about the mac & cheese. My husband ordered a filet that arrived really cold and underdone. It was closer to mooing than medium rare like he requested! Even after they took it back to the kitchen to cook it some more, it came back pretty raw. The chocolate cake we had for dessert was probably the best part of the meal. It was so rich and decadent that we didn't even miss the raspberry sauce (I assumed they purposefully left it out since we got it to go). Considering that the management here has opened and closed so many different restaurants in this same spot, you would think that they would be experts by now at running a successful establishment. But for some reason, they continue to put out the kind of lackluster food that can be found for a lower price at a major chain. At least they can boast having a beautiful view if nothing else.

The food here is not as expensive as I'd heard, and it was delicious. Try the smoked chicken and jalapeño cheddar sausage - nothing was dried out, all of it was fresh. The green beans were sautéed with garlic, and the elote was seasoned really well. The star of the plate was the smoky, rich flavor of the barbecue sauce. The bartender may have been having an off night; the martini was icy but oddly bland, and the old fashioned was OK but not great.
