Simply came here for a drink before heading out to LGA via the 7 Train and SBS. Wanted to see how the options were in and around Grand Central as I hadn't explored this in some time. They have a decent number of draft beers and you can grab it for to-go, which is a plus. You can also charge your phone or laptop sitting near the barstool seats away from the bar. My family and I had a really uncomfortable experience here that completely ruined what should've been a simple meal. We were seated by a host with no mention of any "5-minute ordering policy." Right after being seated, I stepped away briefly to use the bathroom. My family was waiting for me to return so we could order together. Within under 10 minutes of us being seated and closer to 5 minutes an employee who claimed to be the manager approached our table and began yelling and making a scene at my family, stating that if we didn't order within 5 minutes we had to leave. His tone was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. What made this interaction especially concerning was that: * The restaurant was not busy * There was plenty of open seating * No other tables were approached, rushed, or warned in this manner Despite explaining the situation, the manager did not apologize and continued to be dismissive rather than de-escalate. Because our table was the only group treated this way, the interaction felt targeted and uncomfortable, and it raised real concerns for us about profiling or selective enforcement of rules. Regardless of intent, that perception matters especially when guests are treated differently without explanation. Policies aside, there is no justification for yelling at customers, particularly when the policy was never communicated and the restaurant was not under pressure. We left feeling embarrassed, disrespected, and unwelcome. This was a clear failure in basic customer service and management. read more

I went here for happy hour drinks with two colleagues of mine where the drinks are 50% off. Just know that there's no reservations needed here as it's all first come first serve so it's all just walk-in. It's hh from 4 to 7pm and all day on sat/ sun. It isn't a bar so it didn't have that kind of feel to it. More like a small restaurant/ cafe vibe and they serve lunch and dinner along with alcoholic drinks. We got a sandwich, because of the namesake and it was quite small and pretty bland. The charcuterie board was standard, nothing great, but not bad. The service here was SLOW. THIS PLACE IS DANGEROUS. Avoid their hot liquids, and avoid injury and a trip to the hospital! My elderly father got a first degree burn from the soup. He had to go to the hospital. He has large burns and blisters on his tongue and torso. This place is very hazardous, particularly for vulnerable groups like the elderly. I enjoyed the Ham and Cheese Croissant even though it was dry without any dressing. I could have used mustard. I was so hungry I didn't ask. When I was sitting in the comfortable dining area I noticed that men were drinking beer at the bar at 10am in the morning. I haven't seen that in a long time. One gray beard turned and gave me a smile. I was busy eating and didn't like the way he looked at me. I thought to myself "turn around buddy and drink your beer, nothing for you here!" The homeless are everywhere just as they always have been in this food court. The way this Tartinery has their seating set up it keeps the space private. It's blocked off for their customers to enter. They also keep an eye on it. I really like the atmosphere and cool vibe at their restaurants. I'm going to try the other location on Park Avenue. The atmosphere is welcoming, they play great music, and it's dog-friendly, which was a big plus for me! During my visit, I accidentally spilled my coffee, and the waiter was so kind and quick to clean it up. She even offered me a replacement, which I really appreciated. The whole staff was very friendly and attentive. A special mention to the cashier at the front--she was professional, kind, and added to the overall positive experience. The vaccine checker gave me a hard time about having my 'Doughnut Plant' bag, from a donut store nearby. He allowed me to have it when I told him we were waiting for our food. On our second visit, as we were ordering, we asked if we could bring food from another place since one of us wanted a burger. He said no and that it's against the department of health regulations. Had a quick breakfast with family at Tartinery in GCS before some events planned for the day. Great food. Great service. Convenient and quick? Great location. Later on in the day I realized I had lost something valuable somewhere in GCS. We visited Tartinery to see if they had had something turned in. The Manager took the time to find and watch with my wife the security footage of our visit to see of I had dropped what i had lost, possibly while eating. We did not find what we were looking for but we are certain we did not leave it or lose it at Tartinery. Thanks to the courtesy and professionalism of the Tartinery Manager, we were able to rule out that part of our journey as to where we lost our valuable item. Today I was in the lower ground floor of Grand Central Station looking for lunch. Now there are slim pickings. Having eaten at Tartinery in Soho, I decided to get a sandwich. The ham and cheese ficelle ($7.08) looked fresh even though it seemed quite small. The bread was quite tender and the ham and cheese filling. No butter was spread on the bread and neither was there any mustard. I would have preferred to have some salad greens in between also. As standing to eat around round bar type tables is the new norm now in the station with few chairs I was fortunate to find one and was able to enjoy my lunch nicely. Tartinery also offers croissants, muffins and cookies for commuters with assorted hot and cold drinks. There is also an area attached to this eatery where one can enjoy a meal. read more

Ambience - for Grand Central's food court on a Sunday morning it was actually nice, as it wasn't crowded at 9:30am and not too noisy. The service left a lot to be desired, as our waitress gave us quite the stink eye when we requested a different table in a corner when she tried to seat us extremely close/next to another party.
