This place was a huge disappointment. The service was terrible. The waiter did not explain the menu even though he asked if we had been here before and we said no. The portions are small for the price. The Argentine slider had the smallest slice of tri tip I had ever seen. It was also tough and hard to chew. So maybe it was a good thing it was small. IDK. The sliders are all served on cold dry, ciabatta buns. Maybe had they been toasted and buttered they would've worked better. The berry salad was like a garnish. My husband and I stopped here on our way up to Monterey. This place is located off the park in the cute downtown area of Paso Robles. They had just begun dinner service and we were seated immediately. The menu is smaller portions where you can combine 2, 3, 4 selections. So fun! Customizable and lots of options! We started with the grilled Brie. Delicious but plated with honey all over the board and it had already dripped down to the bottom of the board when it was placed on our table. Honey ended up everywhere. Not sure if this is a common occurrence and it wasn't important but felt worth mentioning. You've been warned that this dish is messy. I selected a trio plate. Everything was delicious and I don't remember the exact items my husband and I ordered but I suppose my only comment is that the salad and sandwich were a lot of different very strong flavors which was a bit overwhelming at times. Taste! is a solid place for lunch and group meals because it's very causal and has a good variety of burgers, sandwiches and other American/pub fare. The food is good. I ordered the Pork Bahn Mi, Pork Cuban and Argentinian Tri-Trip and all were a good mixture of different flavors. Even though the two pork sandwiches were similar, in terms of pork, they both had a good mixture of flavors. The fries are are a nice treat too. The food is good and so is the atmosphere and service. This was our first time eating at TASTE! and before visiting we had heard mixed reviews about the food. I can confidentially say that we will not be coming here to eat again (had to give it a chance at least once, right?). Our server was nice enough but I can't overlook the terrible food quality. We ordered fries, half shoestring/half sweet potato, and they were the best part of the meal by far. We ordered three sliders each, and a bacon mac and cheese, and the sliders were just so basic, and had no flavor at all. Its like they threw it together with microwaveable meat and ciabatta mini rolls they got from Costco or Albertsons. Each slider is majority just the bread and spring mix; and almost no sauce even though it says it comes with sauce/aioli. By the time we were done, our entire plates were covered with spring mix. Would recommend they use different breads for different sliders, use more sauce/aioli if it says it comes with some, and rethink their overall food quality and freshness. This place is extremely disappointing - I would highly recommend not going here if you are looking for a place to eat. read more

This place was recommended by locals in the area, so while my partner and I were here exploring Paso Robles, we gave it a try. I really like the concept getting a few different bites as a single entrée. I think this is a great idea and gives folks the opportunity to try different things. Overall the food was decent for where were were and what it was. I would probably give it 3.5 stars for that. Why this has dropped to a solid three (or possibly even lower), is that the service just wasn't there. We walked in to no wait and a lot of open tables, but I am not sure that the server wasn't told, or was on break, but it took quite some time before we were acknowledged. Parking seems accessible in downtown Paso, but as I did not drive, I cannot speak to it from personal experience. Lovely Paso location. Nice staff. Warm welcome. Nice seating. Comfortable temperature. Clean. Nice environment. Bathrooms clean. Menu has many options. I didn't read the entire thing but it was extremely wide range. It was strange to me--no focus or specialty. The waitress asked if we'd been there and then explained something about choosing things and small amounts...I don't know what that was about but it was just so non-cohesive. Dining with no direction? I was unable to get past the major smell. From the moment I sat down, it was abundantly clear that they serve burnt Brussels sprouts. I love Brussels sprouts--steamed. I don't like when I burn them as they become bitter. Whenever I'm at a restaurant that does this blackened Brussels sprout thing, all I can do is think that the reason 'blackened salmon, or blackened Brussels sprouts even got into any menu must stem from someone burning things and trying to call it a culinary direction rather than a wasteful mishap. Does anyone enjoy how they reek up a dining room? whatever the case may be, the burnt Brussels sprout program that some restaurants do should be stopped. I've been to a couple places that do this and it's just too much. Since it was lunch, we didnt have a cocktail, although a mimosa would have been the only thing i could think of. I know it would , offset that strong burnt cruciferous stench from my senses . I had a steak salad which had a good amount of nicely sliced medallions of steak on some salad mix. The steak was edible, but not fabulous. The few bites I ate did not have any fat so that's nice. They have chimichuri sauce which made the steak more worth eating. It covered the lackluster 'taste'. I ate a couple pieces but to me it seemed like low grade, low quality meat. It wasn't rotten or gross-Nothing bad, but I don't like to eat meat unless it's worth doing. My dining partner had something that she enjoyed. Two things. It was something to do with their "duo or trio' concept where the diner selects a couple or three things from the list of choices. she offered me a bite of it and I politely had some. Might have been Brussels sprouts in some thick cheese sauce? Or maybe it was macaroni and cheese. Dessert was a great way to move past the lunch plates. I ordered the flourless chocolate cake and my friend had apple something? We took it to go. The waitress brought these nicely packaged with the utensil packs. There were plenty of people here so it's not bad place. My son came home from school and happily ate all the steak and also liked the cake. I won't bother to go back. Searching for a good place to satisfy a party of five which included my two kids (9 & 12), my wife, and my mom on the Saturday night before Christmas, was no easy task. Arriving with no reservations around 5pm, other places were booked but we managed to get a quote of 45min to wait for a table. So glad we ended up here at TASTE!! The restaurant interior is smaller than I expected, but well arranged. They have a great wine and beer list, for those who partake. We started with the Grilled Brie appetizer, which was plentiful and tasty, through and through. It easily lasted our table all the way until our dinner came out. Tons of creamy brie cheese, with accoutrements like apple, roasted garlic, dates, fig jam, honey, and baguette . Mainly, I really love the format of the menu, whereby you choose two, three, or four items from an extensive menu comprised of varieties of sliders, mac and cheeses, Brussels sprouts, salads, and soups & sides. Literally everything sounded delicious which made it hard to choose. I went for the four-item combo to try as much as I could. Spoiler alert: I was completely stuffed by the end of my meal. Every single thing I tasted was amazing! I had two sliders, the "Vaquero Burger" and the "Swimmin' Up Stream". I also had the "Hail to the Kale" salad, and "Em's So Sweet Potato Fries." Every bite was amazing thus I was obligated to finish the whole plate. Thankfully my youngest couldn't finish her mac & cheese and I got to try it, which was on par with my own items: flavorful and fulfilling. Finally, our server was top-notch! She was on it for everything. She and the team of expeditors got everything out quickly and accurately. Also drink refills were never needed to be asked for, they offered before we reached the bottom of our glasses. This place was recommended by our Airbnb and it was an absolute dream. The menu is split between options of twos, threes, or fours with options for sliders, Mac and cheese, salads, or sides. Loved this hip place located across from the Paso Robles Park right near the Movie Theater. Sliders galore! Menus shows them and ways to combine your favorites. We both did a trio- 2 sliders and Brussels sprouts which are a "gotta get"! I had an Eve Burger which was fig jam and a goat cheese called chèvre. It was so good - sweet with the fig jam. My other choice was just opposite, a spicier burger called a Verquero Burger, chipotle aioli, jack cheese and some chorizo sausage included. It'll wake you up! My Brussels sprouts choice was Italian yumminess- cooked perfectly with Parmesan, bacon and lemon ceasar dressing! Very good. When a menu needs to be explained to the patron, you already missed the mark. The table next to us asked the waitress the same question about how this works. Anyway the food was good. Everything has a sauce or aoli on it. Even the fries. The sliders. The chicken. I am not an aoli guy so get it on the side or leave it off.
