I was so incredibly happy to discover this adorable and delicious Korean restaurant in my neighborhood. The hot stone bibimbap was incredibly tasty, as was the soondubu my boyfriend ordered. Will definitely return! The decor is super adorable too, low lighting (makes it kind of hard to read the menus, but definitely not a deal breaker), candles, interesting furniture and wall hangings, and a tv playing k-pop videos. So I've tried this place 2 times now. The first time the food wasn't very good, it didn't taste fresh, something seemed really off about the smell, the taste. The delivery time wasn't so bad. It was just completely underwhelming. I decided to give it a second try thinking that maybe it was an off day for them. This was a mistake. I ordered bibimbap, chicken wings, and mandu around 7 PM and the food finally get there close to 9. The chicken wings were just... regular chicken wings... I guess I expected like korean fried chicken, or at least something a little crispy. Instead I got soggy chicken wings that I could've made myself from a frozen bag purchased at a grocery store. On the plus side they were at least somewhat spicy. The mandu were okay, kind of soggy again, not a particularly great flavor. Came with a little soy sauce packet taped to it. I'm sitting here with the bibimbap in front of me considering throwing it out. The vegetables are droopy, and probably on the verge of going bad, the lettuce is discolored, there's kind of a strange musty smell coming from it which is disconcerting to say the least. The meat is also droopy and somehow soggy. I have no fucking clue how this happens. Maybe it was left sitting out. If this is what authentic Korean food is, I feel sorry for Koreans. I don't think it is though, I've eaten at plenty of places that were far better than this one. For reference, I've eaten at numerous Korean places in Annandale, VA (Kogiya is incredible) which is apparently the place to go for good Korean food if you're in the DC area, and I'm pretty sure 232 just has awful food. Maybe the food is better if you eat there instead of ordering out, but I doubt it. read more

I'm a huge fan of Cafe 232. The staff are so friendly, and they make a mean eggsalad sandwich. As a coffee junkie, I frequent this place 4-5/week for an ice coffee and I do say, they make a really good ice coffee. Cold brewed, not hot brew that's watered down by ice. I have yet to try to new Korean restaurant downstairs, perhaps this evening? It's also a great place to sit and do some work, lot's of table space. They also just added some tables/chairs outside which is exciting. All in all, I am a full supporter of this new addition to the block! read more

We walked into the cafe to get some coffee. The cafe part of Taste Korea is really cute and well made. They have a wooden sign over their counter which says "Cafe 232" and it's a stunner. The restaurant is in the basement but we didn't like the ambience there so requested our food to be delivered in the cafe upstairs. We ordered the BiBim bowl and it was quiet authentic. A little up there in the price but could be tried if you're looking for a change of cuisine. However it is a cold bowl so not the most ideal for cold weather! read more

Today was my first time at this restaurant and I can't wait to go back. Everything my friend and I ordered was delicious! We were surprised by the sampler they put out at the table-the kale, kimchi, and peppers and onion were our favorite out of the 5 options. My friend's fried Mandu was flavorful and crispy, the citrus ginger dressing on the salad was so tasty, and the BiBimBap was totally new for me, and really delicious! When it first arrived, I was a bit disappointed that some of the the ingredients were warm (rice, egg, and chicken), and some were cool (the carrots, some of thr other veggies), but after the first bite, it no longer bothered me, and I think I actually liked it that way. Each ingredient was packed with flavor, and I enjoyed combining them to make different tasty bites . I didn't even use the hot sauce that comes with it because I found it to be so good just the way it was! Absolutely delicious, nice decor, great service...cant wait to go back! read more

Be aware that their cafe upstairs has wifi but it does NOT work so if you're looking to do work it's not going to happen here. This place is SO COLD. I am currently sitting here wearing a heavy sweater, vest, and a thick scarf and I am still freezing. I can only write about the cafe portion of 232, because I haven't tried their restaurant. I ordered a hot chocolate and it tasted like Hershey's chocolate syrup mixed with cocoa powder and hot water. On a Tuesday night, this place is pretty quiet with people coming to just work or read quietly. The barista seemed nice, and my order was made quickly. So I had an interesting experience here. My bf and I came here on a Saturday night for dinner. We were really hoping that the restaurant would be not crowded and boy did we get our wish. The restaurant was pretty much empty. I think there was one other couple in there. It was a bit strange for a restaurant to be that empty on a Saturday night but better for us. Our waiter's English was not very good which made asking him questions about the menu very difficult and his responses even more difficult to understand. We somehow managed to get our orders in. Although the restaurant was pretty much empty, one other couple had enetered now the count is up to 6 people in the restaurant, the food still took a while to come and didn't come all at once. The waiter came up with one dish for our table and a dish for another people and one of us had to sit there with no food and wait a while. A couple co workers brought me here for lunch because we were on the road. I've never heard of this place prior to them bringing me here. There is a café upstairs and the restaurant in downstairs. I really liked that. It gave the place a "hidden gem" kind of feel. Other than that, there was nothing fabulous about this place. I ordered a dish with egg in it. It's mediocre Korean food. Soon dubu tasted watered down and like something out of a package. The seafood in it was nothing but a bit of mussels you get in those frozen packs. I wish they'd play something else other than k-pop. I don't know if playing k-pop will draw people in. If anything choose another genre of Korean music and not music listened to by kids. This was the worst delivery experience I have ever had. I placed my order at 6:09pm. At 7:21, I called the restaurant, as there was no sign of my food. They said that they had cooked my food an hour ago and that it was sitting there, because they didn't have anyone to deliver it. They said they will reheat my food(!) and send it out once a delivery person comes back, but that will likely not happen for quite some time. Will never order from here again. read more

I worked on my computer here today, for maybe 4 hours, and it was nice. The staff there were super pleasant and I was comfortable in air conditioning and wifi. A lot of other people were doing the same, but it was totally big enough for everyone. Most importantly, the waffles are unreal and come with delicious jam, whipped cream, and syrup on the side. Waffles are my favorite food and these were one of the best I've had. So that is crazy. And very great coffee. read more

I've been going to this place for years until I moved. Recently I visited my old neighborhood and are there. I'm Korean. Korean food in New York generally is never to my satisfaction so I have low expectation of Korean restaurants. Here's what I think. Food at 232, I have to say, has been much better. I think the food is becoming more authentic. The only thing I and my American husband got mad was the service. The servers were not rude or anything but they 1) don't know how to serve drinks. When we ordered soju (4 adults), they basically brought us 1 glass. So we were like can we have more and he thought we were ordering more bottles of soju. And I was like, who orders bottles of soju at once? Then they tried to serve appetizer, main dish and everything all at once. Servers were definitely not Korean but I think at least have some basic training to serve korean food? Do they not care because there's not many korean people going there? Maybe then need to focus on more to spread and represent Korean culture? read more

The internet is reliable, the staff are very good, everything reasonably priced, it's usually pretty empty, and outlets readily available. I love having a Korean restaurant in the neighborhood! I have come here a bunch of times and the service is always great. The food is also delicious and authentically Korean (coming from somebody who lived in Korea). They also have speedy delivery. My only complaint is Banchan portions are a lot smaller than in Korean town (only 3 small dishes). But they will replenish them if you ask. I totally recommend this spot! read more

The food was actually good but the service was poor at the end. I had left my leftovers on the table and when I went back not even 5 minutes later it was thrown out! I was highly upset and just left.
