The jelly was pretty gross in my opinion, I hated how the texture was inconsistent and some of the pieces had some plasticy thing on it which I'm not sure what it was and I spit it out. Tastea has recently added strawberry matcha to their menu! They've remained one of my favorite boba shops despite the hundreds of new shops opening up all over the area, so I'm super happy that they added this and it's so so good. It's made with real matcha powder, oat milk by default, and uses fresh strawberries. None of that pre made matcha mix or artificial fruit syrup here. The matcha doesn't have that underlying earthy taste either. I highly recommend using the Tastea app to place and customize your order. They also do frequent promos! Recent in-app specials include free sample sizes of new drinks that come in these cute tiny cups, BOGO drinks, free toppings, etc. I've also noticed that they sweeten their drinks quite heavily, so I would recommend ordering at 50% or lower. Ordered a Thai tea at 75% in the past and it was way too sweet it felt like it left a sticky film on the tongue. You can also sweeten with Stevia instead. I love that they have this option, you can convince yourself that you're having a "healthier" drink! Service at this location is quick and friendly. Apple Maps gives somewhat of confusing directions, but it's in the same area as Five Guys and Vitamin Shoppe. read more

I absolutely love Tastea! Their honey boba is uniquely green and so chewy + bouncy with yummy honey flavor. Can't wait for the holiday boba when they add red pearls to the mix, adds a nice festive touch. My first in person experience with Tastea was at the Newark location. I had an almond milk tea with honey boba and couldn't get over the fact that adding addicting cheese foam only cost 30 cents at the time, say wha?! Sadly, almond milk tea is discontinued now so I've tried a couple other drinks. Subbing almond milk in a classic black milk tea isn't the same but I found horchata milk tea to be a better option. They top it off with sea salt foam & cinnamon cereal! Check out Horchata Crunch smoothie-- perfectly blended to cool you off. Once October hits, I get pumpkin pie milk tea which also has foam plus a dash of nutmeg. It doesn't really taste like pumpkin, more like autumn spices. What's great about Tastea is all the free customizations like oat milk, almond milk, default non-dairy, plus Stevia sweetener. Their milk teas are creamy enough for me that I choose no added sugar. Honey boba adds sweetness too. My first Tastea drink was a Lychee Peachee specialtea: peach black tea with lychee bits and added rainbow jelly. Very refreshing. There's something about Summer that makes me forgo milk teas until cold weather comes round. When it's chilly, grab yourself a steaming cup of hot boba milk tea! I like coming here for their jasmine green milk tea and boba. I like that their service and quality are always consistent. Drinks are usually ready within 5 minutes after ordering. I was seriously craving some honeydew milk tea and Tastea is the only place nearby that has it. Thus I made the drive to Tastea order some on their self-order kiosk, which is convenient. I got myself a 20 oz honeydew milk tea (no sweetness) with oat milk (extra $0.85 charge). I find it a bit odd that the whole milk substitute is free but oat or almond is an extra charge. Anyways, I was expecting more honeydew flavor but it honestly just tastes of milk tea with the slightest hint of honeydew. Kind of disappointed considering the price too. This place is one of my favorite boba places in the Bay Area. I got the Mango all the way and it was sooo good. It is on the sweeter side so I always get 75% sweetness. I have come here like 2 times, and there is never a long line so you can order your drink fast. There is also online order thru the app. There is only like 2 people working so your drink might or might not come as fast depending on how busy they are, but it is not too bad of a wait. I had the Oh La La Smoothie, and it was okay. I really like the hot thai milk tea sample. It was pretty good. My friend had the chamango and said that it was good too. Overall, it is a nice boba shop. The people working there are nice, and there is pretty of parking outside too. They constantly have fun promos like their Lunar New Year scratchers, green and red Christmas boba, or their Instagram giveaways. It's very interactive and well-promoted boba franchise. there werent any customers waiting when we visited and they made our drinks pretty quick (less than 3min). i havent been to tastea in years, but i remember thinking most of their drinks taste pretty similar. this time i got the bootea shaker (6.5/10) which is mango, peach, and pineapple black tea. if they didnt say what was in the drink, i wouldnt have known bc i couldnt particularly taste any specific fruit, it just tasted fruity and sweet. the drink wasnt life changing or anything, but it wasnt bad either. i do wish it had a stronger tea taste though. read more

This Tastea location is in Sunnyvale. This is a semi busy plaza and parking may be hit or miss. They are a bit hidden away, so it may be easily missed. Not much service, I ordered through the app for service and the drinks took a little while before it was ready. At this particular location, I tried their Chamango Slushy Freeze, Strawberry Banana Smoothie with boba, and Vietnamese Coffee with boba. The Chamango was decent, but it would probably had been better with boba. The strawberry banana was bit tart. This was quite sweet (see a trend?) You are able to switch the tea in the drinks, which is nice. We ordered the drinks with light sugar and thought it was still quite sweet. Tastea is one of my fave boba shops. I typically go to the SJ locations but since I was around Sunnyvale, I thought I'd stop by. I have tried majority of their artisan specialteas and they're all pretty good. Unfortunately, one of my faves, Tootea Fruitea, was removed from the menu!! I was so sad to find out since that's what I originally stopped by for. Their online website shows it is still on the menu but when you try to place an online order, it is not listed on there. So I thought I could try and order it online but the cashier said it was no longer on the menu :( Maybe they should update the website's menu so it's not misleading.. This is probably my 6th visit here since my initial review. As always I bought my favorite, "The Unknown" w/no sugar, longan bits and rainbow jelly. I was quite disappointed as even though I ordered no sugar, my drink was surprisingly too sweet like a syrup was added. To my experience, I know that the rainbow jelly is usually not sweetened but maybe perhaps the longan? I think next time I'll ask if these are pre-sweetened and I think the order was misread as I used the app this time to place the order instead or placing order in person. As for the app, it's very intuitive and easy to place order. Your purchases also earn points that can be redeemed towards a drink in the future. I recently visited Tastea for the first time, and I'd come back. The staff were kind and helpful in answering my questions. As others have mentioned, the drinks are sweet. I usually get 1/2 sweet, but I would get 25% sweet next time. The green boba kind of freaks me out, but it tastes fine. The horchata milk tea is topped with cinnamon toast crunch, which is fun. There's one thing and one thing only that I ever get from here. It's the Avocado Avalanche. There's other Tastea places that I live much closer to, but I refuse to order from the other places because of one principle. The staff told me over a year ago that they offer kids drinks and that I can order a 20oz and they will split this into two smaller cups. Tastea in Sunnyvale is located in a busy plaza but tucked in a corner next to the Five Guys store. Easy to miss it. Lots of parking available. I usually order off the app. It's pretty convenient and the order is usually ready very quickly (less than 5 min) They have hot options available for a lot of their drinks. Haven't tried their cold drinks yet. A lot of their drinks also have option to select stevia instead of sugar. Hot matcha white rabbit: this is a white chocolate matcha latte. The white chocolate as well as the matcha cones through. You can opt to get it topped with whipped cream. Got it with honey boba. No stevia or sweetness modification option Horchata milk tea: got it hot with honey boba add on. It comes topped with cinnamon cereal. Very yum. Option to select stevia as well as sweetness level. As a semi health nut, I really appreciate that they have stevia as an option which I've never seen anywhere else! We got the matcha thai tea, mango raspberry smoothie, and taro smoothie. All 3 were solid - although the mango drink was a tad bit too sweet despite me requesting no sugar. Would definitely recommend toning down on the sweetness whatever drink you get. The smallest of the few south bay locations that I've been to and most important thing to note is that THEY DON'T SERVE FOOD here (ie: no chicken, no shrimp, no fries - you get the point). This location however does have a huge parking lot, so you never have to worry about parking. They always have their signature green honey boba - I've been to some San Jose locations where they claim its still honey boba, but it's regular and not green. My go to is always a Peace Me Sweetea with honey boba and 25% sweet. In the summer, you can never go wrong with the Watermelon Slush! Always order online through the app - so much easier and you get pick it up in a reasonable amount of time. There are some seats indoors and a few seats outdoors shared with Pizza My Heart and Five Guys in the plaza. Otherwise, no complaints about this location. Glad that we're getting a few more Tasteas in the area. Only wishing they served food here and the prices were cheaper. read more

We got the Amazing Strawburst and it tasted more like candy than fruit. Which is uncharacteristic because Tastea normally does fruit teas well. I will say their promo of the tiger sugar milk tea and horchata milk tea have piqued my interest this time around! I chose the horchata milk tea with crème brûlée because I couldn't pass up the Cinnamon Toast Crunch sprinkled on top! The only button I clicked was "add to cart," nothing else. I went back to double check my order, but I NEVER submitted it. I ended up ordering on my friend's phone instead because it was quicker. Anyhoo... got our drinks, we're good. I get home, checked my email, and I get a notification that I got charged for my drink (even though I never made the final call to pay for it).. this is NOT OKAY... but whatever, now I know. I'm not blaming tastea, it's not their fault. There's always a risk when you order through a website or app vs when you order in person. Been here a few times and my favorite of the lot is jasmine milk tea. That drink gives off a subtle taste of the flower, at the same time being very flavorful. I've also tried peach me sweetea, which was also good but very sweet. As for the toppings, apart from the usual bells and whistles, they have green boba which is pretty unique. The shop is not too big but there's about 3-4 tables to sit inside. There's also some seating outside which is part of the strip mall. Tastea has always been a top choice for me whether I'm in socal or NorCal as I feel like it's pretty consistent from location to location and there are plenty of options from milk teas, to fruit teas, to smoothies, and even alternatives if you want to be a little healthier. I think the sunnyvale location is no exception. I'm glad I don't live too far from here as it's convenient to pick up whenever I have a craving for tastea. I've only done pick-up from ordering through the app so I can't speak too much in the in-store experience, but each time I've come here, my drinks were made by the promised time which speaks to the staff's efficiency and time management. My go-to is the matcha milk tea, half sweet which I've gotten here multiple times - both single serving and the partea jug (great for sharing). As always, I'm a fan of tastea's boba - consistency is just right and the sweetness for honey boba is there but not too overpowering for me. I've also had their oolong milk tea as a sample promo through the app which was good, but I probably would've adjusted sweetness as I prefer my drinks in general to be less sweet.
