Pork Ribs the Naked Truth Main with Collard Greens Side 6oz
    Barb J.

Get the ribs! Hands down, the pork ribs are my favorite item on the menu. You can purchase the "Naked Truth" combo to try them. It comes with red beans and rice plus an additional 6 oz. side. For my extra side, I ordered the collard greens. They are delicious and seasoned perfectly. If you enjoy a little heat in your greens, then you'll definitely like these. It's not pictured, but I also tried the sofrito stuffed chicken and the jollof rice. After the ribs, these two are my next favorite dishes! This was my first time trying them and they did not disappoint! The jollof rice is super flavorful and the sofrito chicken was juicy and scrumptious! If you are looking for a dinner option or just a late-night meal, order from Tasty Buds. Thank you to Andre and staff for a delicious dinner!

This was some of the best Caribbean food I have ever had! We decided to try this place out at 11pm and it definitely didn't disappoint. Really good flavor and great service. Don't let the weird location bother you. Highly recommend.

Update: tried the jollof rice and it is bomb! Also tried the yams and jerk chicken. Honestly, this place can do no wrong with whatever they have on the menu.

Great fusion food, feel good food. Great change of pace from the normal food options. Get that jerk plate, and the creamy chicken is bangin.

For dinner I ordered the tri-tip sando. It was excellent but the chimichurri was a bit too strong so I wasn't able to taste much of anything else...the hubs liked it more than I did. The hubs ordered the Pig burger. Two patties...one beef and one pork with bacon jam, white cheddar and bread/butter pickles. The patties were cooked perfectly and the sweet bacon jam was a perfect addition (I'll be ordering this next visit) Both sandwiches came with thin sliced fries. We sat at the bar and Sean was again our server...very attentive and friendly!

The online descriptions appear to be heavily embellished (likely AI-generated), promising far more than what arrives at the table. The steak was noticeably low quality, and the cioppino, advertised with fresh bread, fish, and pasta, tasted like watered-down Campbell's soup concentrate. To make matters worse, the bathroom was filthy. While our waiter was genuinely nice, the food was a huge disappointment. For the price, it was frustrating and disheartening to pay premium rates for such a poor experience. We cannot recommend this place and will not be returning.

Cute little place in Oceanside, right past CVS, by Flying Pig. We never really walk out that far…read morefrom the pier area (and it's not really THAT far), but decided to go out a bit just to check it out. Scanned the QR code on the big banner from the outside and checked out their menu. Saw lumpia and thought it was a Filipino spot). Saw they had a happy hour menu and decided to check it out before our movie. The vibe we really cute and played reggae music. It was a relaxing, chill atmosphere with lots of tvs. The server, Jaz was really nice, friendly and very hospitable. She spoke of their Guamanian food, heritage and community. They've been in the current spot for the last 7 or 8 months, so fairly new, but were down the street for many years before that. We ordered 2 different kinds of BBQ chicken wings. Two orders of the sweet chili glazed (Pine Doni) and one of the other which was like a honey bbq glazed style. All were supposed to have 6 wings, but the honey BBQ one had 5 (?). The sweet chili was our fave of the two. Their chicken empanadas were huge, and served 3 per dish, were delicious and crispy, with an aioli like sauce with a wonderful kick. The spam roll was a masubi-like and was good (husband said it was the best he's ever had). The side of mac salad had great flavor! Jaz brought us some red rice to try on the house and it was really good! It reminded me of Vietnamese chicken rice, with chicken broth infused into the rice, making it really tasty and savory. First time having Guamanian food and we're stoked we tried it! All in all, great food and awesome service! If you've never tried it before...put it on your list! You won't regret it!

We started off with the chicken kelaguen which had the perfect amount of flavor and tanginess with the red rice staple. I do wish I got more rice in the chicken to rice ratio, but it was good regardless. Shortly after we got our empanadas (the whole reason I wanted to go here). I had been craving them for weeks and it didn't disappoint. The filling was the delicious and the crust was perfectly crunchy. We then shared the Guam bomb which was a pretty decently sized plate. I appreciated how crunchy the fries were, especially since the amount of sauce on top could have easily made them soggy very quickly. I do wish there was a little more meat but it tasted yummy nonetheless. Our absolute favorite part of the meal was desert. The banana donuts! It came with 4 which was perfectly paired with strawberry ice cream. Overall, super duper happy with another visit to this amazing spot! Hopefully we'll catch them at PIFA San Diego this year

Surprising! My son was visiting and he seems to always crave GC as he now lives in another state…read more He says they are different. Better where he lives. I guess we'll have to check it out. I wasn't expecting much to begin with, so maybe that's why I am surprised. Price was still a bargain considering the selection of rather tasty food (it was all pretty good); and, the fact that you can do just what I did, have a bite or two of just about everything before you get full. Then, you can go back for more . . . again. And don't forget to grab a plate of desserts so you can taste those too. A rather sketchy customer crowd, but it is a buffet. Please don't forget to leave the table servers a buck or two. They seemed to be putting in a pretty good effort. Dicks

BUT this one ain't it! There were a handful of items that were decently edible like mashed potatoes and gravy. The salad bar was also alright. It's difficult to mess up chopped lettuce mix because it only requires opening a bag or container and pouring the contents into the bin. Fried chicken was fine as long as you are able to get a piece or two. I noticed if you come in later in the evening, the food is not replenished so you are stuck with bottom of the bin caked on dry remnants. Here are the highlights: the server bringing the drinks and busing tables was doing her best to be happy and welcoming. One of the cooks was very courteous and also did her best to anticipate customer needs. They get two thumbs up! Now for the fun part: The clam chowder was too salty and had an aftertaste of old dirty towel, promising a fitting end to my evening with a bad tummy ache. The cook making the steak didn't seem to care about communicating a single word with the customers. Her sole purpose was to repeatedly flip something that looked like meat and point to a bin full of burned protein hockey pucks. I noticed how the line of hungry patrons grew with eager anticipation as she stopped flipping and started attempting to slice. As each diner finally walked away with something on their plate, she was free to disappear in the back to probably make more clam chowder. I watched a couple seated near me with steak on their plate. Husband was breaking a sweat trying to slice a piece while his wife was busy trying to gracefully eject something inedible from her mouth. Now on to the pinnacle of the meal - dessert time. There wasn't much left, so I chose a slice of pecan pie. It looked promising, like something you could pick up at the local grocery store, but that's where any similarity ends. It tasted old and stale, like it was made from expired corn syrup found at the bottom of the moldy basement. The soft serve ice cream machine was screaming like an exit door alarm every time someone pulled the arm to coax out some frozen ice milk. Then I spotted the highlight of the evening. I didn't think it was possible to mess up jello, but heck you learn something new everyday. I captured that masterpiece in a photo. Sadly, the owner of this location really needs to put many improvements in place. People do enjoy going to buffets and truly miss Souplantation and HomeTown Buffet. Golden Corral has the potential to fill this gap. It is in a good location anchored by Target with lots of parking to serve a busy neighborhood in oceanside. It also has a few employees who still care to do a good job. So please take the good location and good staff and make this Golden Corral a worthy business for hungry patrons looking to spend money at a place with quality food and variety.
