Not bad and also not great. Ordered their Cheesey soup in a mild spicy level, comes with a iced green tea and it was all just ok. You order from the qr code so not much interaction with their staff, which is fine. One of the things I really liked about this location is that its a good amount of space with lots of tables and it was busy as it was lunch time however it wasnt to ok loud inside.
This is one of my favorite soup spots in the east Bay Area. We get seated right away every visit and order off the QR code located at the tables. We usually come during lunch hours but also came during dinner a few times too. I ordered the veggie soup & add a side of ramen and side of fish cake. I feel so good after eating here, the food is delicious and nutritious. During lunch they serve green tea which is a nice sweet contrast to the savory soups. the soups come out super hot so eat with caution. We love coming here a few times a year, definitely a fave of ours. all the customers seems to enjoy their meals and everyone is eating + having good conversations with family & friends. Overall, very chill vibe with hearty soup options! our tab price is roughly about $45-$50 for 2 people. looking forward to our next visit here, yummm.
Loved the Tasty Pot location in Elk Grove so we had excited the same level of quality and service as well at Tasty Pot in Newark. Boy, was I wrong. Located inside in a busy plaza in Newark, parking at the store front is very limited. But parking is available in the lot, just a quick walk. This location is a little dirty, seats and table aren't cleaned. Sauces are not wiped down or filled. It's unappealing because no one bothered to clean it up and refill the sauces. The staff were nice and polite but they were not very attentive. I had to get up many times for things like having my water refilled, asking for napkins and adding another item. Wished they were more aware and attentive versus chatting among themselves at the front counter. The food was decent but not so great. Although, Newark location is much closer for me, I would hold off on eating at Tasty Pot in Newark and eat it when I'm back in Elk Grove (which is two hours away). Disappointed; won't be returning.
Love Tasty Pot! This location is convenient and pretty consistent throughout the years. I recently revisited on a Saturday around 1:00pm and it was packed with a short wait. You order via your phone which is nice and convenient, although I wish they were a bit more thorough on what's included in each pot. Although I know my order, my husband isn't a huge fan of fish ball, fish cake, tofu, etc, so it'd be easier to pick if the info was listed. Our order came out fairly quickly, maybe about 10-15 minutes. Food was good portion per usual and soup was delicious. It was hard to get service though and flag down employees for more soup so we ended up not getting more. Overall, will be back. I enjoy their food and consistency. Service is alright but fast.
I've been eating at this restaurant for almost ten years. In the beginning, the cabbage used to be cooked very soft, and they even served fresh raw seafood. But now, most of the dishes are undercooked and too tough, and the seafood isn't as good as before. Because some customers complained that the seafood was too raw, others who don't know how to cook it properly often end up with stomach issues after eating. Overall, I always order the Japanese seafood hot pot with rice, and the soup base is still excellent, with generous and good-quality ingredients. The only real problem is that the cabbage is just way too hard! On the bright side, the sauce is great, and they even serve complimentary green tea during lunch. The service is good, the environment is clean, and the prices are reasonable. My favorite place for individual hot pot hands down. Other individual pot places simply don't compare because the broth and seasonings at Tasty Pot are the most flavorful of them all. They definitely have the best beef pot. The availability and variety of toppings is abundant, anything you can think of they likely offer. There's also a decent drink menu so you can order boba to enjoy with your meal. I believe they offer free iced tea with lunch but I usually come during dinner so I've only gotten it a few times. However, I remember the complimentary tea being good! The drinks you can order off the menu are yummy too. Service is always attentive and quick, and most importantly consistent. I know I can expect my order to come out exactly how I like it every time. Also Tasty Pot offers a rewards system if you put down your phone number. I'm a regular but I find even when I don't dine here as much I still accumulate enough points for a free pot fairly often. This is my reliable go to restaurant when I want to have a satisfying, comforting hot meal. The best!!
Came here on a Sunday around 12:30 with a party of 7. They were busy which is good thing and had to wait about 30 minutes. Although the wait was longer than we all liked it was worth it. The food came out fairly quickly and we were eating in no time. Very well priced for the quality and my whole group enjoyed it. I personally got the beef hot soup and ordered it mild. Although it was mild it had a decent kick and more than I would like. Next time I would order it no spice as that's my preference. Highly recommend this place and looking forward to my next visit!
Had lunch at Tasty Pot with my family. There were a couple of unexpected things. The tea was sweet, which wasn't what I was expecting. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's something to be aware of if you prefer unsweetened tea. We also ordered the stinky tofu, but the waitress told us it wasn't fried. We decided to cancel that order, which was a bit disappointing. I appreciated the waitress letting us know, though. The hot pot itself was fine, and the service was decent. It was an okay meal, but the tea and the tofu were a bit unusual.
We go here 1 time a month, their service is always nice, fast, and tasty. With that being said the only thing that made me write a review is the beef. This is the 1st time we seen it RED and it is fully cooked. To the STORE: please if you are dyeing it red color so it look fresher once cooked PLEASE stop. It looks so crazy and raw and we never had this problem until today. Attached is a picture of the meat in my soup boiling for 30 mins. Its too crazy once I noticed the color.
Food - 4/5 we used to frequent tasty pot chains a lot in the old days but haven't been to one much in the past 1-2years. Went with my usual order of Thai soup pot but found the soup to be a little less rich in flavors this time. Service - 3/5 I have never been to a place where they out of the blue, turned up volume of music and blast loud in middle of our eating and chatting. I wonder if it's because the store closes in 20mins time and they just wanted to get patrons to finish up and leave but I can tell you for sure it was really uncomfortable eating in that condition. I was so tempted to ask them to lower the volume but refrained from doing so. Ambience 3/5 parts of the floor was slippery and greasy. Had to walk super slow to avoid slip.
This is a classic if you want to eat something tasty and warm while in this cold weather. I simply cannot resist the taste of a nice boiling hot pot in rainy weather. The miso hot pot (medium) has a nice kick, which is spicy and savory. Lots of goodies in there. Service was prompt and ambiance is casual.

It was getting cold so we came here to celebrate my friend's birthday. We were seated quickly since they were not too busy when we visited. I got Beef Hot Soup. At first, I thought it needed to be more beef. However, I was surprised that the portion size was generous when I started eating it. The meat was tender, and the broth was tasteful and flavorful. I also appreciate the staff going around to refill your broth. It took a while to refill our water cups, though. Even though the dish was big, I found it light, and I managed to finish the bowl and had no leftovers (success for me). Overall, I enjoyed my visit to Tasty Pot. The parking was limited in that area, but many parking spots were nearby. The inside of the restaurant was spacious and had a lot of tables; it was cozy. I'll definitely be back. read more

I'm so glad their cheesy milk pot is finally soo much better. It used to be too watery (when they first opened). I ordered: 1. #3 cheesy milk soup ($17.99) there's a mountain of cheese on top of the pot! I was so excited for that because I love milky cheese. The milk soup base was good and this pot is loaded with pork, imitation crab, meatball, corn, etc. I was worried the pork wasn't going to be enough, but they were definitely generous with the portion. Ambiance: Clean and nice decor Service: Fast. They come around to check if you want to add more soup base. Parking: Parking lot Overall, this spot never disappoints. Love me some tasty pot on a cold day!! I love this style of hot pot when my family is too lazy to shell out $ to buy all the hot pot fixings to DIY at home. Tasty Pot gives so many toppings, which helps to keep the meal exciting. I like to get an extra side of meat and share among my group for that extra dose of protein. If you can't eat spicy, stick with mild or even no spice because you will get hot and sweaty from the soup oil! read more

They really loaded my bowl at this location! Compared to other locations I found this one to offer a generous amount of meat which was great! My Sichuan mild was pretty spicy but loved it. Hotter than hot Cheetos. Very busy but arrive was fast and gentleman with glasses was friendly and helpful. The complimentary ice tea was on the sweeter side which wasn't expected so just keep that in mind. Lots of seating available and bathroom was clean. Glad there's a boba shop a couple doors down for a quick easy dessert option! read more

Been to the other locations and what I like the most is the food are consistent. I always end up ordering the seafood miso one as I love seafood a lot. I can never finish the whole order so I get to take some home. The concept of serving the soup on a pot on a fire is pretty cool. It's memorable. Food I've had has been consistently great. Heads up: spicy soup is spicy. Last visit the order came with iced tea. I don't remember my other visits getting iced tea but it didn't matter since I don't drink tea. Service is not amazing but staff are always polite. The place can be busy so meal hours and weekends have wait time. read more

Hits the spot if you want a single serving hotpot style of food and soup. I think it's a great meal in a cold weather type of day. Food was pretty good, nothing to complain about, however I do think the soup lack a bit of flavor. You can choose rice or vermicelli and order everything on a QR code menu which I like as it's fast and quick. Still have to pay after through service unseated of the app which I find a bit weird and inconvenient. There are 3 sauces with one condiments to use for dipping. Soy garlic, satay, and soybean are the sauces and chili salt is the condiment. I mixed them all and find that's the best way to eat it. Pretty loud with everyone packed close to one another but still a good eating experience overall. read more

My 2 cents... really could've been better... Tasty pot used to be one of the place I would think of when I would want a tasty bowl of hot pot. But on my recent experience, I just felt like it could've been better... We were seated quickly but that was pretty much the service. When we got to the table, there was no mention that I should scan the QR code on the corner of the table, or that it was the only way to order food. I noticed that they raised prices by quite a bit over the past year. But the restaurant uses a lot of plastic disposable, kind of strange for a sit down restaurant. The water cups were plastic, the spare bowls were plastic, the sauce cups were plastic. Not a great feeling when you're going to a sit-down and paying more money for less. But the service is very prompt, they seem to have figured out how to efficiently do their operations. The food arrived very quickly, it took less than 5minutes from the time we ordered! I was impressed! But when I tried to eat my bowl, I realized the hot pot was somewhat cold, luke warm at best. Not what I wanted in a "hot" pot, where I'd expect the bowl to be near boiling when it comes out. They do give you quite a bit of food, so I can't complain there, but I feel like the restaurant cut corners where it could (like on the ordering menu system (lots of spelling errors), on the plastic cups and bowls, on the type of service they provide, and on the quality of their ingredients). The soup base tasted like it was made completely from a powder. Overall, the dinner felt a lot like a chinese fast food restaurant experience, so I can't recommend. Hoping the owner sees this and invests more into the restaurant food quality and experience. It felt like they got stuck in the pandemic grab and go mentality and kept it that way. read more

Tasty Pot in Newark is my go-to spot for Taiwanese hot pot. The portions are generous, the broths are rich and flavorful, and they don't skimp on the ingredients. We came here for a Yelp event. The place has decent decor, and the staff is super friendly. We came on a Wednesday night, and it was pretty full. Once seated, you can order by scanning a code placed on the table with your phone. The menu has a lot of non-vegetarian options, but it is not very customizable--there is only one vegetarian option. We got the vegetarian hotpot and two drinks: matcha tea and Thai tea. The service wasn't super quick, but we didn't have to wait long either. The food was flavorful, and we got soup refills as well. We love to go here at least once a month. The food is excellent. We order # 1 ( beef soup) mild. Plus an extra beef or lamb on the side to share or the xiaolongbao dumplings. We signed up for points so we get a free soup every couple of months. The service is great, they are kind and friendly. Same with the ambiance. I introduced this place to my friends and they now start to come here . We hope this hot pot stays here for a long time. read more
This was the first time I ever set foot into a hot pot restaurant and boy was that a great experience. The wait stuff are very friendly, keep smiling and explained how one should eat a hot pot. Me and my friend ordered the lamb hot pot, and I ordered the seafood and veggie hot pot and the whole experience of cooking your food in the broth, eating it while it is simmering hot was great. I'm usually not a fan of individual hot pots, mostly because I'm a huge fan of the broth, and places typically don't give me enough. Despite this, Tasty Pot has locked me in. My friend and I ordered the Beef Pot (medium spice), Taiwanese Spicy (medium spice), and a side of the fish ball with roe. The Taiwanese spicy is slightly larger than the beef and about $3 more. I was worried that the Taiwanese was going to be too spicy, but it ended up being the perfect level for me. Both came with your choice of vermicelli noodles or rice. I chose vermicelli noodles, and instantly regretted it. The Taiwanese spicy already came with ramen noodles, and it was difficult to cook the vermicelli noodles since the pot was filled with items and didn't have a ton of broth. I was shocked with the amount of food each pot came with. Both were filled to the brim. The fish ball with roe is always one of my go-to items at hot pot, but I wished they put it in the broth vs giving it to us on the side. This would help them warm up better/faster. Between the two, I preferred the Taiwanese spicy whereas my friend preferred the beef. Honestly, it seems like you can't go wrong. I can't wait to come back and eat here again! read more

A good place to go if you wanna have a warm soup with many ingredients in it. We tried the lamb flavor and beef flavor. Both was good. My bf ordered a rice bowl to go with it since he was still a little hungry just eating the vermicelli. But overall good food. Umami flavor. And have many ingredients to try. The service was fast. Came here around 6:15 pm on a Monday and it was not too busy. The restaurant became more busy though by the time we left. Come earlier on weekends as sometimes there is a wait. Every time I eat here, the hot pot is great and flavors are consistent. Mild spice still has great flavor and there are so many things packed into the hot pot. You can make your own sauce to dip your meat and vegetables. This is my go-to spot for Taiwanese hot pot. read more

This was a 3 star experience for me, but my family and friends all rated 4 or 5 stars. So I will give them 4 stars today. Quality/Quantity - We got the following in all different spice levels; BTW mild is actually fairly spicy. The steps: Select Entree/Pot, choose your spice level, choose rice or vermicelli, lastly add additional ingredients if you want. Beef Hot Soup - I think I would have enjoyed this more. Curry Flavor Hot Soup - Light curry flavor. Kimchi Dumpling Hot Soup - My guest's order. Japanese Miso Hot soup - I think I would have also enjoyed this over my dish also. Seafood Lobster Hot soup - My dish, I was not wowed by it. I think I ordered the wrong one... Many of the ingredients in the dish I did not enjoy. My dish also had way too much Napa cabbage. Also 4 different types of sauces on the table - Chili Oil, Satay, Soybean, and Garlic Soy. Milk Creme Black Tea with Boba - My daughter really enjoyed this. It was flavorful and sweet. Milk Tea with Boba - Basic, tasted exactly how it is supposed to anywhere else. Atmosphere - Open 7 days a week from 11am or 11:30am to 9:30pm or 10:30pm, my picture for specific hours and days. Small parking lot, but plenty of parking in the other lots if you do not mind walking a little. Service - Good. Membership, loyalty program. Price - $219 + tip. Craving some hot pot so my girlfriend introduced me to this place. The employees were very friendly and helpful, and the service was fast. My friend ordered the Taiwanese spicy soup and I ordered the lamp soup. Both were very delicious and the flavors were amazing. The restaurant was well Organized and clean. I decided to go here during a heat wave, haha I haven't been here yet, but the food was so good. I like the stinky tofu hot pot. It comes with stinky tofu, clams, lettuce, beef, and quail eggs. The soup base is also very delicious! So here, you order everything online. You don't get a dedicated server, but they are fast with their service. Someone checks on all tables to see if you need more water, napkins, soup base, etc. The place itself is very clean. I think they have a mural of angel wings in the front where you can get some nice Instagram pictures. Like I said I went here during a heat wave, but they kept the temperature inside the building nice and cool. Overall 5 out of 5 stars. I love this spot and would definitely come back! read more

The first thing I noticed upon sitting was the smell of the restaurant. Many hot pot places smell like the food (as expected), and while you could also smell the food, there was an undertone of perfume or some type of fragrance. It was subtle, but it made the place come across as clean. Service was quick, and they made sure to check in with us every few minutes (asking if we wanted broth refills). They were also very attentive whenever we needed something (napkins, water, etc.). Now, to the fun stuff: the food. The garlic soy is delicious, but their soup is so yummy, the sauce wasn't necessary. Definitely take small bites and sips because the soup was piping hot! The fish fillet with the melted cheese was a really nice combo though. read more

TIP: download the app for freebies and discounts Tasty pot lunch specials comes with a drink like LA melting pot. WHAT WE ORDERED Vegetable hotpot Szechuan beef hotpot Vegetable hotpot was very good, I didn't want to eat beef or lamb so veg was the only other option. Then I heard about the kimchi hotpot w pork. I'm gunna get that next time. My bf really like the Szechuan beef pot, the beef was A LOT. In he kept eating and there's still more beef lol. Newark goes all out for beef hot pots fyi. You cannot go wrong with this place! The service is quick and prompt and portions are filling! You order on your phone here and I believe that just makes it much more efficient. The decor is colorful, bright and clean. The drinks are refreshing and would definitely recommend on a hot day. I LOVE Tasty Pot!!!! I especially like this location because the flavor has never disappointed me. Every hot pot spot near Fremont has had its ups and downs, but this Newark location is always so good. I order a Beef hot soup with a side of quail eggs and rice, spice level very spicy. This was my first time ordering very spicy, with the knowledge that asking for more soup can help tame the spice, and I don't think I'm ever going back to medium spice! It's SO good!! The flavor of the soup is so intense and YUM! The only thing that I wish would change is the addition of more veggies. While I appreciate the numerous sides that are included in the hot pot, I could always use a little more napa cabbage or even bokchoy! The service is okay. The Newark tasty pot is pretty busy every time I go, so it's a bit harder to flag down any staff to come help you out. We lived in East Bay for maybe 3yrs before trying this place out. Everytime we drive by it, the place is packed, so we finally decided to try it out...that was 2015 . Ever since this is our favorite Tasty Pot branch...it's a win also because it's right beside iTea (which closed down and replaced by another boba place). You know the place is good because it's always busy...staff are generally nice and very helpful. We're a family of 6 so we've tried a lot from their menu, and we haven't been disappointed. Each one of us have our own favorite...and this place is the family's standard when we go to other Tasty Pot branches lol! we used to often this place until we moved to Tracy, and we miss it a lot...we go to Milpitas, Dublin, Concord, and Stockton and every time the family has some quirk about the other branches, and asks why it's not the same as Newark. 1 less star because parking is usually hard to find and wait is usually long...but those aren't really issues if you love the place read more

I split the Sichuan flavor hot soup with one friend. The broth was delicious (we chose medium spicy) and flavorful without feeling MSG or salt-loaded. It was so loaded with toppings that we had to refill broth once (free) to have enough for the items. From the website, Sichuan description: "*Medium to Flaming Spicy.* Napa, beef slices, fish filet, flam, aorta, imitation crabmeat, tempura, fish ball, beef ball, zucchini, enoki mushroom, black mushroom, potato slices, frozen tofu, fried tofu puff, fried tofu skin, potato noodle, & scallions." You get a huge variety of toppings that add up to a lot of food even for just the standard order. I don't see how a single person can finish one hot pot unless they take food home. When they refilled our broth, I could see that the broth had cloudy, milky color from cooking for a long time. It was so delicious! The Napa cabbage was the perfect level of tender crisp, we didn't get any "cold" items in our soup. All items were the right temperature and cooked evenly, so we didn't feel rushed to eat quickly (which I've had to do at Boiling Point). I'm a fish ball fiend and ordered extra fish balls, but it ended up being too much food for the both of us. The house satay sauce is amazing, the fermented soybean sauce is on the sweet side which I'm not used to. The servers were super nice and attentive. If there was anything we needed, they helped us right away, and then made sure to top off broth or drinks for all the other tables while they were on the floor. I was able to enjoy dinner with a friend and chat leisurely without feeling rushed by the staff. I enjoyed the food and service here so much, I'll be coming back with my husband. Highly recommend for people new to hot pot that don't want to feel overwhelmed with choosing toppings. I think it's a way better value eating here than at all-you-can-eat places that are restrictive on the "expensive" toppings or that you would have to eat excessively to get your "money's worth." The only drawbacks were that the side vermicelli order was tiny, and fish ball side order was about $5 and came with like 5 or 6 pieces. Tasty Pot has everything you'd want in a restaurant -- great service, amazing food, and a comfortable atmosphere. I've been going here for a few years now with my cousins and it's easily one of my go-to comfort spot. I usually order their Beef Hot Soup and it's an absolute must-try! The broth is rich and flavorful with just the right amount of spice (I usually order mild). The restaurant itself is cozy and welcoming, making it an ideal spot to enjoy a comforting dish. Aside from their food I would like to highly emphasize their service! The staff is amazing. I recently misplaced my retainers and their staff members, April and John, helped me search for them. Can I order veggie pot in a soup base other than thai or mild? I prefer the other soup bases, but prefer veggie pot (it is ok if soup base is meat based)
Their broths are either meat of veggie based. Just let the server knows what kind of broth you'd like. Same when replenishing your pot. Let them know that you want veggie. Otherwise, the servers will serve you meat-based broth.
I know when it comes to the sauces there is a garlic soy sauce, sha cha sauce, chili oil. Does anyone know what the other sauce is? I've asked my waiter and he told me it was soybean chili sauce, but i still cant fond it in stores
You should be able to find soybean chili sauces in any Asian market like Ranch99 or H-Mart. Hope that answers your question!
Is there a veggie broth? I see the veggie pot but is the broth used also vegetarian based?
Yes, spoke to the Newark CA Tasty Pot, they answer: " it is vegetarian based soup ".
Does the lamb pot taste similar to Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot? Is it good and worth getting?
Not the same. But it's super tasty! Totally worth get it. A small tip: their spicy is super spicy. Medium is already too much for most people
What kind of sauces do they have? When I asked them, they were kinda clueless on telling me what it was. They said it was just "sauce" -_-"
The sauces on the table are soybean paste, chili oil, garlic soy sauce, and satay sauce.
