I love tasty pot so had to give this place a try. I've been trying to most tasty pot locations near me now. The service is pretty hands off- though you do get a fire lit for you. Parking seems to be packed if you're trying to park next to the restaurant. This is in downtown Palo Alto so there are designated places that you can park near the area. 2 hour limit for parking on the first 2 floors. I bought the stinky tofu with spicy level:medium. My goodness it was delicious. I've door dashed this establishment in the past but it taste a world of a difference if you dine in. You also get a complimentary black tea(no boba or milk) sweeten for dining in. The food tasted not that salty just the right amount. I mostly tasted the spices and aromatic herbs. Like the small clam shell. You get 2 half's of tofu in this pot. The dipping sauces that were provided at the table were: soybean chili sauce, satay, soy garlic, and chili salt. The toppings are pretty good overall, but the beef slice were really dry... loved the pork blood rice cakes though, surprisingly! I ordered mild and I didn't feel it was spicy at all. The portion was really large and was enough for two meals for me. The default included drink is a sweet tea that is good but too sweet for me. My hubby and I had our friday date lunch at this location and absolutely loved the Taichi Fillet hot spip (Flavor : Golden Chicken Soup Noodle) we ordered. Its piping hot served on top of a burner, loaded with all the veggies and tender fish. the broth was fantastic. savory, spicy and tangy. Served with a bowl of rice that pairs perfectly well w/ the hot soup. Would be perfect for winters or gloomy weathers. We also got the sichuan potstickers but we didnt like it at all. I do not recommend this dish. Service is meh, they forgot to get waters even after asking multiple times, we asked for no mushroom but they forgot to convey that to chef and later replaced it with correct bowl. Rest is fine. My boyf n I are die hard TP lovers but this meal was a little underwhelming:( They took off the cheesy milk soup which was my go to and favorite option :( I was heartbroken. I also like that they don't force extra tips on you with a big group. Food's taste is ok, nothing particularly memorable. Portion is on the smaller side but price is also fairly reasonable. The bad: I think there's some fundamental flaws to the pot design. The fire power is just too weak. The pot takes forever to heat up, some of the ingredients took forever to get cooked (yes the pot came not ready to eat). The only dish at our table that was genuinely enjoyed was the sizzling beef plate with udon. I love a personal hot pot. We ordered three: fish fillet with spicy tomato broth, fish fillet with golden broth (not spicy), and Taiwanese supreme substituted with nonspicy beef soup. I had both the fish fillet with golden (not spicy) and the Taiwanese supreme. I thought the supreme one was more my lane, with a stronger flavor profile. The fish soup was milder, as expected. Depends on what you feel like, and you can always swap out the soup. I did find that the dishes that came didn't quite match the photos - the menu photos show much larger portions of ingredients. The blood for example were two tiny rectangles (like mini Kit Kat bar sized) rather than sizable squares. The pork intestine - I think I saw two pieces. There was plenty of the beef slices though. Good, friendly, fast service but there may be a language barrier with some staff. You can get 3% cashback through Chowbus; you get prompted when ordering through their web menu. I appreciated the free sweet iced tea. No alcohol yet (they said next week they'd have it). I think the now closed Cafe Ophelia in South Bay remains my favorite for personal hot pot and boba drinks. The service was great, the people were very friendly, fast, and attentive. The food also came out fast and delicious. Hot pot on a hot day at the hot new Tasty Pot! We came in during their soft opening during which they're offering a 10% discount for all patrons. The promotion seemed to draw some crowds and fortunately parking is super convenient here - there's street parking right outside or a couple public parking lots just around the corner. As we walked in, we were greeted by the staff and ushered to a free booth. We were given their relatively simple menu of hot pot soup and topping options and were able to place our order directly with the staff. What seemed to be lacking was the variety of drinks but we were mainly here for the hot pots anyway so it wasn't a big deal. They apparently also have an online ordering system tied to the QR code located at your table. We ended up getting a Taiwanese supreme hot pot and the Sichuan flavor hot pot with sides of vermicelli for both. Despite each of the hot pots already made with a variation of carbs, we also had the option to add a side of rice or vermicelli. You also can customize the spice level for the added heat. We ended up getting both soups with the medium heat and it was plenty spicy for us! As we waited for our food, we soaked up the ambiance of the well-lit, nicely ventilated, and music-enriched room. With a TV available, patrons were also able to catch up on whatever is showing at the time (it was on Fox News the whole meal). The booths and tables were all clean and comfortable for small parties. When the food came, it was a tower of a meal, all engulfed in steam from its extremely high temperature. We snapped our pics, soaked our vermicelli in the soup, and let it cool a bit before we dug in. After a few minutes, the soup was finally cool enough for sipping and pairing with the carbs. Each bowl came with a variety of protein (fish/beef balls, seafood) as well as vegetables (cabbage, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, tofu). It was a lot of food! They seem to just be getting their staff up to speed on dining service as waters weren't offered and provided until requested. To be fair, it was close to their opening time just before the peak lunch rush so they may just be behind a bit. The prices are slightly higher than some but they do give quite a bit of food with each bowl. Also being one the peninsula makes it difficult to be competitive with higher rent and spenders in the area. But given the food quality, taste, quantity, and speed of preparation, it does still seem fair. Overall, Tasty Pot has a solid brand with shops located all over (some internationally) with a few locations in the Bay Area, each serving quality personal sized hot pots that are sure to make your stomach full due to the amount of food and tingle due to the heat of their spice. This location is convenient with parking and accessibility to other sweet and drink shops nearby. My usual is the beef pot with rice. I don't eat much seafood and this one only has a few clams that I pick out. The rest of the pot is meat plus veggies and tofu, and some fish cakes (which I generally like). I used to get mild spicy but I recently tried medium spicy and think this one tastes better. It's not super spicy but still has a nice kick to it! I like the chili bean paste (doubanjiang) they have on the table. I always pair it with the contents of the soup. Inject this stuff into my veins please thx. Service is good. At lunch time they give you free sweetened ice tea which is nice and refreshing! I don't think they give free tea for dinner. They have their own custom flair from changing soup broths to removing certain ingredients. Came in for lunch with a friend on a Tuesday. It's at the soft opening stage so not too many people and we were quickly seated. Service still needs work as servers took a long time to come back for our orders. The Taiwanese Supreme spicy Hot Soup was tasty and had a ton of ingredients. My friend also enjoyed her Sichuan pot. Midway through, the servers added more soup base for us. I ended up taking home a whole bowl back so this is definitely at least two meals worth of food. read more
