We've been coming here for dim sum for years but had never tried their dinner service before. Today's experience was so unique that, for the first time in my life, I felt like I had stepped into Parasite. Upon arrival, the staff were friendly and attentive as usual. However, the waitress who took our order seemed to struggle with English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. She spoke Mandarin with a Cantonese accent, so I switched to Cantonese, but communication was still difficult. She avoided eye contact, seemed distracted, had trouble with her iPad, and wasn't particularly attentive. When I asked whether they had seafood, she simply pointed me to a page with very few options. Oh well--I figured one seafood-free dinner wouldn't hurt. Then came the eye-opening part. A nearby table brought their own bottle of Moutai, and suddenly the service transformed. The waitress appeared with special tea cups that looked noticeably better than everyone else's. Her voice suddenly shifted into a high-pitched, almost anime-style girl voice as she enthusiastically pitched dishes..: "Boss, do you want lobster? Boss, Whole steamed fish?" The sales effort was relentless, even though the customer declined every suggestion. Her high-pitched "Oh my gosh!" voice that felt completely different from how she had been speaking moments earlier. The contrast was so dramatic that my partner still imitates it at home whenever he wants to be funny. Meanwhile, I sat there wondering where all these off-menu recommendations had been hiding. Apparently, the enthusiasm to sell premium dishes depends less on what's available and more on who's sitting at the table. Nothing says "customer service" quite like deciding someone's spending power before they've even ordered. When she made a tiny mistake, her reaction felt oddly theatrical. Rather than calmly fixing the issue, she became excessively apologetic and submissive in a way that felt disproportionate to the situation. It was uncomfortable to watch and came across as performative rather than professional. The restaurant feels geared toward mass-market dining rather than refinement. The portions are generous, which creates a sense of value, especially in expensive Irvine. That said, the ingredients felt average. Some vegetables were overly chewy, and the ribs contained so many small bones that they could easily chip a tooth if you're not careful. Because of the waitress's over-the-top attention toward that table, many diners started watching the scene unfold like free entertainment. Thankfully, the other servers were warm, professional, and equally friendly to everyone. Isn't that the whole point of hospitality--to treat every customer with the same level of respect? As a final touch, their chairs were spaced so far apart that getting out of our corner seat felt like an obstacle course. Perhaps the problem was that I left my Krug at home :) Overall: great entertainment, questionable hospitality, mediocre salty food, oily seating, and enough tiny bones to make every bite feel like a dental liability. read more

A bit of a trek for us on the UCI side of Irvine in "traffic" but well worth the drive as we can't get this style of food in many places in Irvine with this taste! Definitely a must try. Our party of 8 went there early on a Sunday morning. I was told I had dinner there but I have no recollection of being there a couple of years ago. So right off the bat you know the ambiance must not be anything special. And it isn't. We were brought there for a Hong Kong style of breakfast. I do not care for the macaroni/ham soup (that I associate with sickness, specifically colds). But I did order milk tea (which I was told would be sweet-I know that) So we did have congee (which I call jook) and the bread that comes with it. I love you tao so I was happy with that choice. There was also French toast, won ton, satay, Choy sum, omelette with spam and other things that I can't recall. Food was okay. Nothing special. This meal hit exactly the way I wanted it to. I was craving beef chow fun and pineapple buns so I ordered delivery and oh my gosh this was the best way to end 2025. The beef chow fun had the perfect smokey charred flavor and there was so much beef. The noodles were chewy and not greasy at all and the veggies were perfectly crisp. I have no notes or critiques. The pineapple bun was also delicious. It was so fluffy with a crispy crust. It wasn't the best I've ever had but it satisfied my craving and I have no problems ordering it again. Reliable "old-school" Chinese food like the kind we had growing up in California! I think that's because it's a Hong Kong style restaurant which was more of the food that I was exposed to in my earlier days )I'm not sure if it's the most authentic but we always see a lot of Asian people in the restaurant, which makes me think it's probably pretty acceptable quality. Ruby is a wonderful server. She always remembers us and what we like and is super friendly. We always get black bean fish filet and green beans with pork. Tonight we tried fish congee- so yummy. We had a great dining experience here! The Cantonese food was delicious and authentic. We especially loved the lobster with glass noodles in a clay pot. The lobster was fresh and flavorful, and the noodles absorbed all the rich sauce perfectly. The portion was generous and everything was served hot and fresh. My husband and ai came here with our 13yo & 10yo boys for dinner after driving down from out of town. We arrived around 730pm on a Thursday night, and the restaurant was about 1/3 occupied. It's a big restaurant with many tables that can be put together to accomodate large groups. The AC was on cold and it's very bright inside unlike some restaurants where the lighting is so dim. We were seated immediately and given the menus. A staff came by right after asking to take drink orders. Then another staff came by to take food orders when we barely flipped through the main menu and 2 side menus. We were asked 3x if we were ready to order before we done looking through the menu. I was taken back and somewhat annoyed as I felt rushed. But we finally look through the main menu and order the following: 1. Beef Chow Fun: More noodles than beef. Smaller noodles used compared to other restaurants that ises larger noodles. Good flavor and not oily. Beef is tender. 2. Roasted Duck (half): Very tender, moist and flavorful, not too salty. Came with a small dish of sweet and sour sauce pair with. I wish the skin was crispier though. 3. HK Style Stir Fried Spare Ribs: This dish came out last and took the longest. It was very delish. The spare ribs were very tender and the taste is sweet and tangy, more on the sweeter side, with lots of pineapple, bell peppers and onions. The ribs were cut up too small so we bit into the bones easily. My 10yo son gave up on eating it as it hurt his teeth. 4. Stir fried string beans: A very good dish with salted minced pork. Need to eat with rice or else will be too salty to eat on own. String beans not crunchy as I would like as it a little soft but I would order this dish again. Food came pretty quick but the last dish took longest. We also could not order rice ahead as they wanted us to order rice once the food came out. The overall service is good as they are quick to take away your dirty plates and refilled water as meeded w/o us asking. We would definitely return in the future to try other items as we came towards end of day so a cod dish we wanted was not available. Note: Picture on menu may not be actual dish as there was a string bean & mushroom with fried tofu I wanted to order, but was told that the dish has mushrooms only. Came here because other people in my party are familiar with "Delicious Food Corner" in other locations such as Rowland Heights. They're a big fan of it there, but this location? Absolutely trash. There's no rice included in your entrees - extra charge, of course. But how does that many sense for dishes that actually require rice?? Like if you get a curry dish, are you supposed to just drink it? No. Of course not. The roast duck here is the absolute worst duck I've ever had. Devoid of flavor, lacks meat, and just all bones. Clay pot rice - takes forever to come out and super skimpy with toppings. Rice lacked that char/burn on the sides that make it clay pot rice. Braised pork with preserved vegetables - pork wasn't braised for long enough and was tough. This is supposed to be so braised that it melts into your mouth. Noodle dishes - most of these lacked the proper wok hei needed to achieve the flavors. They probably would taste a lot better if I took them home and threw them in a wok, but why would I do such a thing? Overall, nothing here was tasty - and severely overpriced, even for Irvine. read more
