I have gotten carryout from Tasty Thai a few times. The good: The Panang Curry. I ordered it medium and it was a typical medium for Thai food, which is pretty good heat. The consistency is very thin--like water--which initially turned me off. However, the flavor was very good. I would order this again, but would definitely order twice the amount of rice, otherwise you're left eating half the curry with a spoon like soup. A added bonus is that on Monday, the curries are on special buy one get a second for $1. The bad. The Pad Thai. I ordered it medium also, and it tasted like nothing. I would have actually thrown it away, but my husband poured the extra Panang Curry on top of it so it would taste like something. We also ordered an appetizer (egg rolls or spring rolls) with peanut sauce, and I did not like the sauce. It was thicker and sweeter than typical peanut sauce. Overall, I much prefer Thai Place in Westport or Overland Park for good Thai food. However, Tasty Thai is close to home, and I'll probably continue to get curry for carryout every once in a while. read more

I'm a huge Thai food lover so Tasty Thai has been a great local place to indulge in some delicious Thai cuisine. It's a small place, but they are pretty good to get people taken care of in a timely fashion. My whole family enjoys our trips out as there is something for everyone, even the less adventurous in the group. The best time was when we were running late for a movie and they bumped up our order to help us not only enjoy their yummy food, but get us in and out quickly so we weren't late. After reading so many good reviews we decided to try this out tonight. I ordered yellow curry and paid extra for 'jumbo' shrimp. I grew up on the Gulf Coast, worked shrimp boats for a season as a young man. What they added would have to puff itself up to fit into a medium shrimp category. Misleading! Curry was nice tasting but very thin. My wife's dish came out ten minutes after mine and was wrong. Even the correction was not a good tasting dish. Slow \ less attentive service. The story of the family's background on the front of the menu is charming, as is the quaint dining room. They have several unique offerings that I love - including duck pad thai. We have been here a few years ago and before loved how fresh the food tasted. Sunday's visit was not so great. The Pad Thai was good, but cold. The Hawaiian Rice was the same, good but cold. Both were good portions worth the money. The General Chicken was not so good. The chicken definitely had a freezer taste. Not worth the money. Loved the Egg Rolls and the Spring Rolls were huge, but not my thing. We also got the Mango Sticky Rice for dessert and it was tasty. Service was fast and I didn't have to do dishes! Great food and great service. My wife had Broccoli Stir Fry with chicken and I had Pad Ki Mao. Both meals were hot, fresh, and tasty. Unique flavors and aromas. We have never had Thai food before but we were knocked out by this and can't wait to come back. The amount of food we had was very reasonably priced as well. Love the Rama Chicken and Garlic Chicken. Wife orders shrimp pad thai and almost every time it comes out of the bag chicken pad thai. Numerous errors on call in orders. The restaurant is located in a strip mall, some might pass by it because it's behind a very large Red Robin and Starbucks. Very subtle sign, nothing that really stands outs. First glance there are silly signs with a small man who is holding up signs with specials that they are offering. More inspection of the outer establishment draws one's curiosity. Inside it is rather small, but closed space seems to crack open with the beams of sun shining through their curtains. Around the walls are portraits of elephants draped in jewelry and wood carving of elephants accompanying them. Small tables where placed throughout the restaurant, kindly inviting you with face-to-face conversation. Bringing a date, friends or family defiantly will bring out this experience. As soon as I stepped through the door I was greeted with smiling faces. As soon as I sit down my glass is filled with water and she asks if I'm doing well. The only people who were in there was an elderly couple, but it was 2:00pm on a Monday so I didn't expect it to be busy. The very essence of Taiwanese culture filled the room, with the oil painted pictures along the wall, and the smell of stir-fry and spices from the kitchen. Within minutes I was gifted a small bowl of a beef broth tasting soup, with light, refreshing bean sprouts, and small seasoned chunks of tofu. The soup was very hearty and teased my pallet of what is in-store for me. I ordered off the Lunch-Specials menu- by the way, they are much cheaper than the dinner courses- which i ordered the Pad Thai, which is sauteed noodles paired with light been sprouts and chopped peanuts. It came to me on a oval dish, pilled high with noodles that were sauteed with medium hot spices. The waiter gave me both a spring roll and a pork dumpling because she knew I never ate their before, which I thought was especially nice. The dumpling was cooked not too much to where the edges were jagged and crunchy, but more of a nice bread doughy substance. The pork was very good, which left me wanting more. The spring roll was chicken with small chunks of sweet carrot and refreshing celery. The spices weren't too potent neither dull at all, it defiantly wrapped up flavors quite nicely and didn't have you reaching for a glass of cold water. There was quite alot of food for the price of the meal so I was forced to take it home in a doggie bag to enjoy later. All-in-all my experience was quite pleasant, not only with the friendly service and cultural atmosphere, but with the well thought-out menu, and the artfully crafted food. To pass by this establishment is to pass by an adventure, specifically made for your pallet. With few dollars you can grab yourself a mighty plate of noodles at Tasty Thai, and I highly recommend that you do. read more

I've been to the one in the northland, and I picked up takeout from here. Same quality. Always reliable. Nothing special, but hits the spot.

We ordered food to go and they had messed up our order as in gave us an item we didn't order instead of the one we ordered. We thought no big deal we will just call them and notify them of their error and get things sorted out. We ordered 4 soups, 3 Panang & 1 Red curry. We were missing the red curry. We also were missing the fried squid we ordered. We bimbap tasted poorly done. The fried rice is giving everybody an upset stomach. To make matters worse we call them to explain the situation and the guy on the phone that took our order kept asking what we were missing in the soups telling us to check what vegetables are inside like we were lying. The craziest thing too is the guy had the audacity to say "no tip no tip" when I picked up the to go order. I would not recommend this to anyone and if I could I would give negative stars! read more

This location of Tasty Thai is convenient for me. I have had much better Thai food, but this is good. I find their spice level to be high, so I usually order some variation of mild. I love the Vietnamese spring rolls here. I love Vietnamese spring rolls anywhere, but these are exceptionally to my liking - so fresh. Weird that I like these rolls at a Thai place. I have been earing here since they opened over a year ago. My kids are 12.17 they love it as well. Everything is good I don't care for the tiger cried beef salad though. The basil fried rice, pad ki mao, spicy eggplant, all the curries, soups,everything is AWESOME. We like spice or not depends on the mood and the calamari is great. Sometimes I just have appetizers. I could eat it everyday and not ever get tired of it and they still have service which a lot of places lack anymore. Better than Olive Garden, all the fast food joints and a contender with Indian food in town which we used to really like. Having spent over twenty years being fed by my surrogate Thai grandmother Susie from Willy Cafe (aka Thai Paradise), I've come to appreciate and have a disciplined palate for authentic Thai cuisine. I can't say I've eaten at all purported Thai restaurants in the KC metro, but after Susie's and Willy's retirement, my countless pursuits have failed to find but one (Thai House), other than retreats to San Fran. A common theme is found among most Thai restaurants, attributed mostly to the Westernization of a lot of ethnic restaurants, especially Chinese and Mexican... "more sugar, less spice". Tasty Thai is no different, catering to the western palate instead of allowing people to grow to appreciate the unadulterated authenticity of the culinary blissful experience of Thai food - the perfect blend of spice and heat. That's not to say some dishes at Tasty Thai aren't representative in name and appearance, but mostly watery curries and sugary sauces and soups, yet for those that enjoy Americanized Chinese food of starch, sugar, and soy, I have no doubt you'll appreciate the non--traditional Thai version of Tasty Thai's menu. read more

Tasty Thai was my favorite place to go over in Platte Woods area so I was excited when they came to Liberty with their 2nd site. I always order The Spicy Green Bean with chicken. It's delicious. They changed from long green beans to shorter, fatter ones and I was disappointed for a bit-but the dish is great. Our servers are always friendly and our favorites know our order when we sit down(Thai Friday is a tradition!). Tiger cried beef for an appetizer is always a good choice. I love this place. Friendly staff. Great food. If you like it hot you will have to ask for it. Take it easy with the hot sauce.

The food is good so that is why they get a two but the service is horrible. They were more concerned about taking care of their take-out customers than the people actually eating in the restaurant. When the check came we tried to give the server our CC right away and he would not take it and said he would be back to pick it up. Never came back. We had to get in line with carry-out people for him to actually take our payment. I normally go to the one on Prairie View road (owned by same people) and have always had great service. We happened to be in Liberty for the night and decided to go to this one. Won't be going back to this location. read more
