Great service, delicious food and awesome vibes. They have indoor seating and super cute, social distancing outdoor seating. I have never had a bad experience with Taters. I live in Salem and I will make the drive to Dallas just for this amazing breakfast spot. So fast to deliver the food and its hot and satisfies everyone! Veggie benedict, add mushrooms, Chefs Kiss!! Heard great things about this place so we tried it, but it was just OK. Our party tried: strawberry french toast with scrambled eggs and sausage links, the Monte Cristo breakfast sandwich, the country Benedict and the 1/2 and 1/2 (biscuits and hash browns covered in gravy). The place itself is clean and quaint. The service was good. The prices were fine. The food came out and LOOKED great but unfortunately it was lacking flavor. The French toast could have used some spices in the egg dip. Cinnamon at an absolute minimum. The sausage gravy had no flavor at all and the Monte Cristo was just a stacked sandwich book ended with the French toast. It lacked both the signature batter dipped, crispy, fried texture and the quintessential raspberry jam that MAKES a Monte Cristo. The biscuits were so crumbly they had to be eaten with a spoon, even though they were topped with gravy. The place wasn't bad, but it's not worth going back. read more

I headed here on a recommendation. It was a nice little country drive. It felt like a family atmosphere. Prices were less than Annette's. The food seemed almost exactly like Annette's with the same producer of gravy and biscuits. Everything was freshly prepared. I love thick bacon! I can't find anything to take points away, I truly enjoyed the experience and will be back. Always great, fast & friendly service and tasty home style meals at Taters! The prices are also the best in town for restaurant dining and they offer a little something for everyone. Breakfast is especially good for the price and they never skimp on the portions or keeping your coffee cup full. Outdoor seating in the spring and summer is also really pleasant since the dining room is a bit small and tends to fill up fast during peak times. Being new to town I needed a good place to have lunch. This place totally filled the need. I had the hamburger with sweet potato fries. They were cooked to perfection. The food was ok. Not amazing (we ordered the French toast with strawberries and whip... it is a menu option) they gave and charged us for an extra slice each that we did not order and they charged extra for the strawberries that where included in the name of the menu item.... when i asked the waitress she did lower my bill by $2 (they charged $4 in strawberies just for our two orders) and it was extra for the 3rd slice of french toast we did not ask for... they did keep my coffee full and it is a cute place. read more

Wonderful hometown vibe, food is outstanding! Staff are quick and polite, very considerate, you can tell they care about giving the best dining experience! The owner (Rachel) is very down to earth and cares deeply about the community, offering a free thanksgiving feast on thanksgiving, and because of the Coronavirus, has been giving free soup to all the elderly people to help them the best she can. Love this place. Came for a late breakfast on a Sunday morning. It looked busy but still had some tables open. Was told to sit anywhere and we chose outside. They came right away for drink orders and we got those pretty quick. I ordered Veggie Benedict and it was delicious! Fresh veggies and cooked just right. Kids had pancakes and waffles and they scarfed it down. The tables outside were very cute and had a little garden. The people sitting next to us were friendly and chatted with my kids. Sure they were locals. Service was great. Very attentive. Thanked us for coming in and trying them out. I was apprehensive due to the reviews but we are from out of state and I'm glad we tried this place!! read more

Original Post: 10/02/15 - My girlfriend and I went in for breakfast. It was around 9am. There were about 5 people in the restaurant. We sat on the patio and we're the only ones on the patio that morning. Waitress took 10 minutes to bring menus and ask about drinks. My girlfriend then asked about one of the menu items and what it contained. The waitress said she would check on it with the cook and be back. We waited and waited. We sat and watched the waitress conversing with a Co worker while cleaning out the til. In the 15 minutes we waited for a response to the question, she never came back. We walked about before ordering breakfast. It wasn't even busy that morning. And if they don't want to take the extra time to serve the people on the patio, don't have patio seating. We will never return to this place. If I could rate it a 0, I would. Updated 04/15/17 - I went in here to try and give it another try and the customer service and waiting has improved greatly. I have been here another 3 times since the bad review, and the food is consistently great no matter what I have had - I would recommend this place. read more

After a couple days of camping in Kings Valley, my boyfriend and I both agreed we really needed a good breakfast before setting out on a road trip for the next two days. Taters happened to be right on our path back to Salem. I was not impressed by the coffee, and I was so hoping for some good coffee. It was brewed at about half the strength I normally like it, which is saying something as I don't like dark coffee. This was unfortunate. Our meals were alright. My French toast was a little on the soggy side, a bad pet peeve of mine. I had ordered the patty of sausage rather than my usual bacon, this turned out to be my mistake. It was so very oily I had to quarantine it to a edge of my plate and scoot the remaining meal over so it wouldn't get soaked. Yuk. The German sausage combo meal my boyfriend ordered was ok, but he said it really should have been on the dinner menu. It was much too heavy a meal for breakfast. Since it was Sunday morning, the place was packed. This didn't stop our waitress from doing a good job of keeping the coffee coming and attending the table though. Eh, not saying I won't return, but I'm usually not in Dallas and Taters didn't make enough of an impression to be the sole reason of a return trip. read more

Nice family run restaurant with reasonable prices and good selection of breakfast (served all day) and lunch items. Food was fresh tasting and large portions. We liked the lentil & bacon soup, the chicken breast sandwich on home bread with lettuce and tomato. I had the biscuits and gravy. Could have ordered the 1/2 order cause the full size is very filling. Tasted just like the kind your mom would make for you. My family and I got food togo from Taters cafe and it was delicious! My daughter got their Belgian waffles, they actually put the strawberries and whip cream in different containers! Which means no soggy waffles or flat whip cream! The pork fritter I ordered was delicious and so were the potato cakes. I am so sad to be leaving this review as this was one of my all time favorite places to eat but the way I was treated on my last trip in is unacceptable. I made a call in pick up order as I was on a time limit. When I got there I waited almost ten minutes to even be acknowledged even though there was a young man and woman in the kitchen that could clearly see me..after some awkward eye contact the young man finally said oh can I help you? I said yes I have a to go order to which he replied "oh, let me go find someone". I was in a hurry but trying to remain patient so ok. A woman came out (who took my order over the phone) and proceeded to cash me out but inform me that they did not have potato cakes, part of my order. Uhm the name of the restaurant is Taters how do you run out of that item? But ok. Still trying to remain patient and calm as the woman was very polite and kind. Throughout this whole process I am the only customer in the restaurant, it is not busy. I see the young man eating even... Then when the woman who cashed me out asked the kitchen staff if my to go order was ready they appeared to be confused. My order was never made. I was given a weak excuse about shift changes. I used to be a general manager for a much busier restaurant, I know how these things work and did not appreciate the weak excuses and lack of apology. At this point it had been about 45 min since I had called in my simple order. I was rudely informed that it wouldn't take long to make. I am now running late for an appointment and asked for a refund. So sad and disappointed because this food is yummy!! But I will not be back. read more

We drove in from Salem to work on a local project in Dallas. Had car issues, so had to drop the car off for a couple hours at Les Schwab Tires just up the street. Had a nice breakfast here while we waited. Overall very good experience. Staff was amazing! Will be coming back for sure for the duration of our project. Small town local feel. read more
