On New Year's day, my husband and I decided to walk around in the snow and were grateful to find that Tatte was open. We were freezing and hungry so we ordered breakfast. The black sesame latte was something I had never tried anywhere before, I got it hot and it was absolutely incredible. Such a unique flavor that worked perfectly. I also ordered their salmon breakfast sandwich, and I only have good things to say. The salmon was fresh, all of the accompaniments were perfect. It was my first time at Tatte! A few friends recommended I try it while visiting the area. As a first-timer, I asked what the cashier recommended, and she said most people go for the sandwiches. After some deliberation, I went for the smoked salmon, avocado and egg sandwich! I had just come off a red-eye flight and man... that thing HIT THE SPOT! It was probably the best smoked salmon sandwich I have had. The bread was so FLUFFY and soft, and the eggs were buttery, which paired really well with the avocado and the spread they used. I would highly recommend! It was the perfect size, and I was satisfied after having it. Seating was self serve, as you just take the Number placard to any table you find available. They serve you the food when it is ready. The service was pretty quick (~10-15 min), given that it was pretty busy on a Monday morning. You can grab a cup of water at their self-serve station. They also had wifi with a pretty strong connection (big plus in my book). Overall, I would go back for certain! We had a gift card and the wife bought a Smoked salmon, avocado and egg sandwich from Tatte in Belmont. This place is right in the heart of Waverly Square, and is very busy on a weekend. The place is clean, open and bright. They have huge displays of ready made pastries to go with lattes and coffees etc. They also serve sandwiches. The Smoked salmon, avocado and egg sandwich that my wife ordered was very good. You can tell nothing is pre-made or mass produced. The eggs are real scrambled eggs, not like the precooked rounded eggs in a McDonald's breakfast sandwich. There is great care in not just the ingredients, but the presentation of the sandwich as well. However, due to the presentation, we did have to re-orient the contents to form a sandwich we could actually pick up and eat like a sandwich. Tatte reminds me of a more current Dean and Delucca. With a clean cozy vibe and pastry filled displays. The staff is friendly and the food is amazing. Food is always very good. However, for a second time, I did not receive my delivery order. When I order through the Tatte website and the order is not delivered, no one takes responsibility. The delivery service says to call the restaurant. The restaurant directs me to the delivery service. After multiple phone calls, I was able to get a refund from the restaurant. However, it is not a pleasant experience. I feel like I should only order directly through a delivery service. At least that way, someone takes responsibility for the order. I've been to quite a few Tatte locations around the Boston area and also in DC, so it was exciting to learn about this new location in Belmont. It's near Waverley and the commuter rail stop, an area that has sorely needed a quality cafe. I stopped by on a weekday afternoon when the place wasn't too busy. To me it's a decent sized Tatte (larger than the Brookline or Beacon Hill locations but smaller than the huge Newton Centre one), with plenty of room in front of the counter and tables at either end. It looks like there will eventually be chairs along the windows too, like at the Harvard Square location. The Tall Man and I loaded up on pastries and drinks for a midday pick me up with the parents. Everything looked beautiful and comparable to other Tatte locations. The pain au chocolat and kouign amann were less flaky than I've had elsewhere, and the apricot danish was a bit less generous with less fruit, but they still satisfied. The gluten free walnut brownie was spot on (very fudgy and delectable). (Note that while Tatte has gluten friendly items, they are not a GF facility so there's a lot of cross contamination. Still, you can ask for them to put GF items separately.) My hot chocolate with almond milk hit the spot -- chocolatey but not too sweet. The Tall Man enjoyed his flat white (8 oz). I'd like to come back for some lunch sometime. This will likely become one of my go to spots in the neighborhood, with it being more convenient and less crowded than other Tatte's. I hope it gets good business without getting overrun like some of their other locations! (This is me selfishly feeling hopeful; clearly I'm not the business owner.) read more

Brand new location in Belmont, MA just opened this week! There are variety of food options, from grab and go pastries, to sit-down style breakfast & lunches. They offer a variety of coffees and other drinks as well. I definitely recommend looking through the menu before you come as there's a lot to choose from. There are plenty of tables all around however it was quite busy so it took a few minutes to find an open one. They give you a number and bring your items to you if you decide to eat here so that's pretty cool! It's like a causal, sit-down establishment if you will. I like this aesthetic of this place. They have a cool Belmont sign but it's behind a pole so you can't get a good photo...RIP. My only complaint, haha. There is a parking lot behind the building and free 1-hour street parking surrounding, so it wasn't too difficult finding a spot even on a busy Saturday afternoon. Definitely one of the larger Tatte locations I've been to. It's new to Belmont and has a large glass display of treats, pastries, drinks, sandwiches, etc. I love the bright lights inside, and I'm a huge fan of their floor to ceiling windows along the entire front of the store since they really brighten up the place with all the natural light, in addition to giving it an airy and inviting coffee shop-esc feel. The only thing about this location is that it's pretty hard to find a seat here. Of course by nature of being a popular spot, this stuff happens. But it really is tough finding a place to sit. They've got tables with chairs around the perimeter as well as standing tables with no chairs if you wanted to just stand at the big windows to look out towards the street. The seats are pretty crammed close to eachother as it is so they definitely are providing as much seating as they could. :) They have friendly staff, provide quick service, and offer lots of Matcha, chai, coffee, and tea options (as well as Tatte Juices for the non coffee drinkers). I got the mint lemonade and it's pretty good! For sure it's a different spin on your classic lemonade seeing that it has small mint leaves floating around in the bottle, but it's still refreshing that's for sure! But overall I like the location in Belmont, and it's now my favorite coffee and pastry place, even over the new new one/s. I've always found a seat, even in the very crowded ones. Regardless, as others note the quality of the coffee, pastries, and the lunch are excellent, and likely worth the price. It's not cheap, but the pricing is fair and clear. Portion size: 5/5 Filled me up perfectly, even after giving some to my partner. Service: 5/5 Long line, quick service! Went around lunch time and the line wrapped around the entrance, but had my order taken fairly quickly. This new location opened up walking distance to my house -- dangerously close!! I was able to avoid them initially but now I'm there weekly. Hot House Latte and the Turkey BLAT. Quite the combo. It's a nice location and the staff are friendly. The food is good and the coffee, very good. It was pretty busy when we went, but the overwhelming impression is that it's just not so clean. The tables aren't cleared when someone leaves. If someone working there notices, they will take things away. If not it's like...whatever. Tables aren't wiped clean between customers, but to be honest, that seems to be the norm these days. It's also a pressure to find somewhere to sit and it's busy, so you might not actually find anywhere. On the whole, it's an okay Tatte, but not necessarily one I'd want to rush back to. read more

6 stars please. I've seen these around the area whenever I'm working. well today. The Belmont location was the only place close enough to where I was working to get a sandwich. I ordered the BLAT, Bacon comma lettuce comma avocado and turkey. Oh my god, it was absolutely delicious. It normally came on rye bread but I ordered it on a piece of challah. As I walked out of my sandwich. I noticed they had tuna fish on the menu. I can go into Anaphylactic shock if I come in contact with tuna or any of its by products. So I went up to one of the servers and said I screwed up. I forgot to tell you. I have a severe allergy to tuna. I said I said can you guarantee me? This sandwich was prepared with no tuna products in close proximity? They said no and graciously offered to make me another sandwich following proper protocols. Like I said, the sandwich was absolutely delicious. but the sixth star is for how they treated me when I told them about my allergy.. From items missing from to go orders, to sloppily prepared food, to staff of varying levels of "want to" this location has been frustrating at best and inedible at worst. Having one in Belmont and one in Newton much closer to where I live now is a godsend! They recently added seasonal items and they are delicious! My boyfriend who is a coffee snob LOVES their coffee and i love having their teas, it's a plus that they serve them hot or iced! The pastries taste like heaven and the staff is super friendly! Their almond croissant is one of the best in the greater Boston area and their green & nutty salad is one of my faves. While the food is fine, the level of apathy of the service here is terrible and getting worse. The order taker employees are miserable and annoyed for simply having to come to work. I informed the person who served my food that there was a mistake, they took it back and simply brought it back without the fixes saying they don't have it right now. We went to eat brunch here today and we were very disappointed by the fact that they are no accommodating to pregnant person. My wife wanted to eat the Shakshuka and some pastries so we asked to see if they can do a fully cooked eggs instead poached eggs. Apparently they do not customize eggs orders for shakshuka. We also requested to see if they can remove the eggs instead and they refused to do so. From this, we have concluded that Tatte is NOT friendly with pregnant customers so we will not be coming here anymore. read more

First time in this Tatte, just once in the Wellesley location which I loved. Belmont is a much smaller location and I ordered take out but I saw people looking for seating with their food in hand. So sad! Seats were being taken by 'take out' customers, as I was directed to take one, but in my case seating was necessary for the wait. I hope they figure that out! I must mention that parking was available in back, a bit of a walk for me but the day was pleasant! My sandwich was absolutely delicious, very fresh and perfectly seasoned! I would definitely order the salmon and egg again, but I'll be in to 'take out' something different next time! The cashier was very courteous, but I explained I do not tip counter, take out cashiers; just my own general tipping rule. Tipping has gotten way out of control, in my opinion. I always get annoyed with the tipping percentages pop up at the register, it's annoying and embarrassing as I only pray that her employer pays her fairly and there is no dependency on tips in her position. Sad! Great to have a tatte around and their suburb expansion is nice but the variability at tattes is just downright ridiculous now. Went to the charesltown tatte last week and had an amazing salad and pasta the week before. Excited about ordering the same thing with people visiting from out of town and it was a complete and utter let down. Much smaller portion, poorly grilled haloumi that felt like it was sitting out for a week, lamb meatballs stale not heated up. But the price is the same. Seating feels very crammed and the space just looks old not like a new It's the sad part of their expansion, consistency is very poor at a lot of their sites as they stretch themselves thing and sadly this is one is looking like one of the subpar locations. Third time here. Walk in today and every available table has crumbs on it crumbs on floor crumbs on seats and tables dirty. If I was the manager here I would make sure tables were clean! And floors were swept! Told the manager who gave me a dirty look and came over and wiped the seat of crumbs with half falling on floor. Didn't even bother cleaning the dirty table. There's a restaurant in Marina bay Quincy called port 305. So clean EVERY SINGLE TIME with chairs at an angle so everything looks uniform This place needs new management. read more

Love the location and vibe of Tatte in Belmont. Was hoping to love the food because the staff is wonderful and it is a lovely place to hang out. Unfortunately, I haven't liked any of the food offerings, but I am willing to try one more time. The croissants are an air-blown tragedy. Tasteless, no crusty outside, yucky for dipping. The coffee is sub-par -- mochas so sweet it was difficult to drink (yes, I realize it is supposed to be sweet, but it tastes like bad, canned Hershey choc syrup. Reg coffee is bitter, lukewarm warm and bulk tasting. So many food choices, but nothing sophisticated or high end in terms of finesse. At least this location is not as chaotic as Tatte in Harvard Square. Great to have a parking lot, but very confusing on what spots are "legal." Too many B&B Towing signs -- a known local predator company -- to confuse what is allowed. Sad because Belmont could really use a spacious, airy and well-lit hangout like this one. read more
