A classy pub, Tavern On Main delivered in pub fare with an upscale feel. Our waitress was very friendly and offered suggestions for drinks when we asked. I was pleased to find they had Hell or High Watermelon on tap. My dad ordered the Mexican Shephard's pie he said he'd order again. My mom and I ordered burgers which were so good. The tater tot option for the sides were delicious! It was fried, cheesy and full of tater tots. And my husband ordered pasta with sausage. We would be happy to come back again! Our food was absolutely wonderful as was our server Kathryn. Kathryn was very attentive made sure our drinks were full. She was very personable and gave us recommendations . The GM even came over to see how our food was and even had a conversation with us instead of just walking away. Both are an asset to the business. We will be back!!! So I accidentally showed up on their soft opening, it was one of the best things I've done. Tavern on Main has become my local go to place. I got here at least once a week and have not had a bad meal yet. My husband talks to everyone about the scotch eggs, it's sausage with hard boiled eggs in the center. It is served with a chipotle maple dip, which is excellent! I cannot get enough of the insalade di mare. It's a cold seafood styled salad. They have an amazing beer selection which hard to find in South County. If you sit at the bar, Hope is always kind and greets you with a smile. If you sit at a table ask to be placed in Margaret's section. They have specials like 1/2 off pasta on Monday, my favorite... Giving Tuesday (5% of your tab is donated to a local charity) and Wine Wednesday. Please do yourself a favor and check this place out!! read more

Went last night, place was freezing but the fans were on. Most patrons were wearing their coats. Empty tables were piled with used glasses and dishes, yet the manager seemed to enjoy sitting down and chatting with folks,his unfinished meal was at a back booth where fresh silverware were being wrapped in napkins.... Tater tots were round cheese balls that were fried in old oil, underdone yet the darkest brown...couldn't tell the sauces apart,and I've had ranch before-it's not that....By the time we got silverware food was cold, won't be going back. read more

Sooo good! Just had my second visit to this new restaurant. Last time, I had the lobster lettuce wraps app while sitting at the bar. It was enough for a nice light lunch. Today I brought my daughter for an early dinner. She had a burger and I had fried chicken & waffle with sausage gravy. They came with a choice of side and we chose the tater tots. OMG! Deep fried tater goodness. Our mains were excellent as well. Our service from Malia and the rest of the staff was wonderful. We didn't try any of the beers or cocktails but Malia did suggest some of the specialty sodas. So glad she did! I had a chocolate cream soda made in CT and my daughter had the root beer on tap. Both were fun treats for us. Kudos to the entire staff in the front of the house for excellent service and to the staff in the back of the house for the amazing food. Go! We had dinner at one of the sidewalk tables. The service was attentive and the food was tasty. I had the Mexican shepherd's pie and my wife had the crab cake sandwich and fries. I had a little bit of the crab cake, which was a grade up from the usual homogenized crabmeat that you get at some places. We're picky about French fries, and these were good, properly cooked, hot, and without any nasty coatings. TotM has a half-price special on wine by the bottle on Wednesdays, so we paid around $19. read more

First, the service was great! Our server was attentive and friendly, which I appreciated. Second, I really enjoyed the beet salad (no canned beets!) and wished I order a full order for my meal. We had a superb dinner here on Friday. Seated just before 6:00pm we were able to have "happy hour" crab cakes and chicken spring rolls. We followed this with chicken parmigiana and beet salad - delicious! But best of all, our server, Lainie, so nice and personable, guided us through the menu. As we were leaving, we left we chatted about our next stop, the movies. The following morning, I realized I had lost my wallet. I raced back to the movie theatre scouring every inch around our seats to no avail. Feeling despondent, I returned to the car only to hear a voicemail from Kevin the general manager, saying they had it! When I retrieved it he handed all the praise and quick thinking to Lainie who knew where we were headed and informed him that we were "in the system" as frequent diners so they were able to find me! I highly recommend this place! I am so happy there is finally a great restaurant in here! My fiancé and I split the chicken and waffles the first time we went. The host recommended it and we gave it a try. Not only did our server give us separate plates, they split the meal and gave it to us on separate plates without us asking. Great service. The next time we went, the host recognized us... to me, that's bonus points. We decided to get half priced apps because we were there during the special. The cheese board is SO good! Paired with a glass of wine and it's even better. The sides / spreads are to die for... I need the pesto in a bottle for at home!! We're headed there again tonight. I'm not sure what I'm missing here compared to all the good reviews but we didn't have a very good experience here. The bartenders were having a good time talking to eachother and not paying attention to their guests (we asked for a beer and never got it from the bartender, had to ask the bus boy to get the bartender 15 minutes later). Never got a glass which we had wanted. Ordered chicken fingers which were awful (right out of a bag in the freezer, way too overcooked, and drenched in bottled sauce). Not good. We wanted to stay and have dinner but decided we'd better leave. Hopefully Tavern on Main will get better! read more

Maybe it's summer, maybe it was an off night but our experience on a Tuesday night was disappointing. A few weeks before we looked up hours online, drove over and they weren't open. So we decided next time to call ahead. We called 4 times, no answer. 5th time was put on hold and hung up after 12 min. Came in at 7 and was told no reservation till 8 - so we took it, went home and came back. Our waitress left us waiting for 30 min intervals, forgot drinks when asked and we had to ask for place settings twice. She blamed the wait on the short staffed kitchen. We ordered at 8:30 and were served at 9:30. Despite having 4 tables show up after us - we were the last to be served. The food was just ok. Benches get really hard after that long a wait. read more

Then my family brought me to Tavern on Main to see what the new place was all about and I was blown away! Though it is not place to get those famous stuffies I got when I was young, they have an amazing menu and tons of delicious drink options! I treated myself to the Mexican Shepards Pie and WOW, was it good! Service was perfect too - wish I could remember our server's name! This is a must try local spot if you are in the area. we wanted to like it-but it was barely rates the one star review. The young servers were pleasant but it took over an hour for our food to arrive. When it did arrive, the food was awful- fried cauliflower was swimming in sauce, pesto flat bread was burned, seafood pot pie was bitter and had a large, burned piece of puff pastry on top. I could go on but I won't. Unfortunately this is not the first time we have experienced this here but we have not been here in a year so we hoped it was better. It was not. I also want to shout out to our bartender. She was attentive, funny and even with her mask on you could see her smile.
