I was always a huge fan of Tavolàta in Seattle where I lived for years, so was very excited they opened one in Sp'kane. Hubs and I went for the first time for Restaurant Week. I made a reservation only a couple of days in advance, and they were able to accommodate us. Walking into the restaurant, I was pretty wowed. Their large space in the old city hall building across from Riverfront Park has been beautifully renovated, with high ceilings, exposed red brick, and exquisite lighting. They can accommodate parties large and small. We were greeted very warmly and immediately shown to our table. We opted to sit on the patio on a lovely evening and people watch. The least enjoyable part of our meal was the wait for our server team. We were seated over 20 minutes before they said hello or received menus or water. These days with the service industry difficulties I am trying to be understanding, and we were not starving nor did the wait ultimately dilute our very pleasant and romantic evening. Once our duo server team were available to wait on us things got moving. We had cocktails and the restaurant week three-course meals ($33 per person, drinks not included). I ordered the roasted beet salad, rigatoni, and panna cotta, while hubs got the grilled focaccia, tonarelli, and dark chocolate cake. We both agree I had the better meal. The beet salad was beautifully presented, fresh, and wonderful. These supermodel beets were glistening, I'm not kidding. The sausage rigatoni was rich but oh-so-delicious, with a nice little kick. It was a hearty portion and I didn't need to eat so much of it but I did oh well not sorry. Finally, the panna cotta was made with a cream base rather than the traditional ricotta base, but I was still impressed with the smoothness and flavor. Hubs's dinner was also good, just not necessarily with as much wow. All in all it was a truly decadent meal on a gorgeous evening with my favorite dinner date. We look forward to returning for happy hour with friends or another date night dinner. read more

Great greeting. Sat down at a nice table. Service started off great. Then what happened to our server? No idea. Finally she returns with a smile and curious about our drink order. Came back MOMENTS later. We want to eat but can't place our food order, because our server is MIA. Finally we are greeted by her again as if her first time at our table. We finally placed our order. I am excited to try (@24 bucks) their spicy pork sausage rigatoni; not spicy. My other three friends thrilled to get their food, it's their anniversary. We were all happy to finally eat. But; the singing in our palettes never arrived. We all felt let down. It wasn't an overall bad experience but the food seemed to lack flavor and left us not wanting to return. Pasta seemed a bit chewy even for al dente. The sauce and the spicy sausage lacked flavor. Their highly overpriced drinks clearly watered down. I've traveled and lived in many major cities and had lots of different variations of Italian/pasta, this was by far the worst. Kudos does go to their table bread, their oil and vinegar is probably the best, does cost you $5 for a small square. read more

Visited Tavolata downtown before a show. The food was excellent, as was the service. Karrissa, our server, pointed us towards the happy hour menu. The meals are exactly like the dinner hour menu in size but much cheaper. We had the potato gnocchi and rigatoni. The appetizers we sampled were the grain shed baguette, marinated olives and bruschetta. Everything was lovely. We ordered a bottle of sangiovese and dessert was superb. The bill was $124.00, an outstanding value for the food and service. We dined on the patio looking at Riverfront Park. The perfect start to an evening. read more

We went with a group of folks. Service was a little slow but you know "COVID" excuse. Food was top notch. Even the appetizers were on point. Pappardelle is by far my favorite and they killed it. No Tiramisu on the dessert menu :( The John Candy (old fashion) was on point, I'll be making those at home with the chocolate bitters. What an addition. The vibe was great, not really somewhere you would take the kids. More of a business class or classy joint. There were no tshirts and shorts type of groups in there so bring your dress pants. A friend and I went for a girls night out and decided to hit Tavolàta-- and we were not disappointed! Such a fun, modern vibe while still being classy. Excellent service from start to finish; our server, Ellie, had quite the wealth of knowledge and was an absolute delight. We were sent out a free appetizer as an apology for our dishes taking too long in the kitchen (I ordered the Rigatoni and a friend got the Gnocchi). We were pretty surprised seeing as it really hadn't been that long since we ordered, but it does speak to the level of attention and detail from the restaurant. The food was delicious when it came out and if you like sweet wines, try the Moscato! Overall it was an incredible experience and both my friend and I would happily visit again! read more

Happy hour was awesome. Definitely ask for more bread with the burrata though. The osso buco was delicious and the polenta was perfect. My girlfriend also got the rigatoni which was delicious. We will definitely be returning to this place even if it isn't happy hour. read more

I came here on a Friday night with some friends. It was very busy, but they seated us right away at the bar for cocktails while we waited on a table to be free. It didn't take long at all. I had a couple of old fashioneds and they were the best I've had in Spokane. We ordered the Croquettes as an appetizer and I highly recommend them. Then came dinner: I got the Tonnerelli. Large portion size and very simple, yet very flavorful. Overall, great food and friendly staff. I'd recommend making a reservation but it's not necessary if you don't mind waiting in the bar. read more

Happy hour is the go to! Was happy to finally try out this newer gem downtown! Have heard very mixed reviews but I knew I had to give it a shot, and I'm glad I did! Let me start out by saying they offer reservations which is really nice! However, if you're looking to take advantage of happy hour, then a reservation is not going to help you. Happy hour was great. It's bar only and the environment is pretty dang cute and cozy. The staff was nice and mostly attentive. Food was very tasty and the happy hour prices was a cherry on top! I gave 3 stars just with the downfall that service was slow even though it wasn't that busy, and we didn't like the lemon zeppole dessert, and we were looked and and talked to like we were crazy by the staff which wasn't very nice, but at least they took it off our bill. I wouldn't go again if I wasn't going for happy hour in my opinion, but still enjoyed the new experience! read more

I've ate here for years. This business has always tried to be cashless. I've always paid my bill and expect no change, which is fine. Until yesterday when there was no signage and I was not informed until after I finished my mail and laid United States currency out to pay for my meal that I was told "it's no good here". Seriously cashless restaurant, I can not return nor advise anyone else to dine there. When I asked why this policy was put into place the server replied "Our owners live in operate in Seattle". I think it is wrong for a business to operate in America and not accept United States currency. read more

Spectacular Italian restaurant- by far the best in Boise. All ingredients are made from scratch from the pastas to the sausages to the sauces which I love. It's a very energetic vibe with the exposed kitchen and bright open concept. Elegant and beautiful while still being inviting and not pretentious at all. Especially loved watching the pasta gal work her magic- there's such great people watching in general! All the pastas we tried were amazing, especially love the potato gnocchi and paccheri. We also ordered the scallops; literally the best seafood dish I've ever had in Boise (originally from Seattle and miss good seafood so I really appreciate this). 10/10!!! read more

I was in Spokane for my daughters birthday and decided to try Italian food. This was the place to go. The rigatoni in the papa Della were excellent probably some of the best I've had. I even went so far as to ask the waitress to give a good comment to the cook, which, by the way, I never do when I come back to Spokane I will definitely come here again the staff there it was excellent I wish I could remember the staff ladies name but she was just excellent excellent read more

I really enjoyed the ambience of Tavolata. We asked to sit in the bar area instead of the main dining room as it just seemed more lively and festive but both areas were inviting with a contemporary, cool vibe. Our server was wonderful and the food was extremely tasty as were the cocktails. We had the pappardelle and clams for main entrees and the salumi board to start. Extra bonus was dining during happy hour and enjoying some of our tasty dishes at lower prices. I will come back again, no question! read more

I went to Tavolàta with a group of 9 friends. We had a reservation and our table was ready for us, but those who arrived first had to wait for the whole group to arrive before we would get any water or be able to order drinks. But our server promised we would get Happy Hour prices and we did. Five of us wanted Sangria so we ordered a carafe, which was $28 during Happy Hour instead of $38. It was refreshing and delicious, but they filled the carafe with ice first, leaving us with maybe 15 oz of sangria to share. In my opinion, Happy Hour should be lower prices for normal sizes, it should be a special deal. We came to find out Happy Hour appetizers are also smaller servings. We ordered croquettes which were delicious, olives which were yummy but over filled with oil so our table became a mess, and focaccia bread which was also delicious and messy. We had one person in our group who needs a gluten free menu, and we were told when the reservation was made that they had gluten free options. When it was time to order, she found out they only have one gluten free pasta. She could have ordered a non-pasta meal, but the meat entrees were significantly more expensive, and she was hopeful about the gluten free pasta options. We also have one person in our group who can't stomach cheese. She asked the server for a recommendation with a tomato sauce, but he told her every meal's sauce has a cheese ingredient to bind it, so she ordered the Tavolata Salad and asked them to leave the cheese off and she ordered fried zucchini. The salad arrived with a heap of cheese on top, which they quickly whisked away and remade. The salad itself had a very spicy dressing, uncomfortably spicy, which seems unusual for a house salad and she barely ate it. The zucchini came in a bowl and seemed to be sautéed instead of fried, it was soft and oily, not crispy. Overall, the menu lists each meal's main ingredients, but not how they are prepared. I went for the lemon ricotta ravioli which I had high hopes for. I usually feel pasta dishes are overpriced and this was no exception. The portion size was small compared to the other meals, probably intentional because it is rich, but I really wished I had ordered something else when the small, under-filled and oily ravioli arrived. I tasted a hint of lemon, but the taste of oil overpowered everything else. I found myself looking for salt, and while another ravioli eater agreed about the need for salt, a third loved hers, but she was also sharing the huge chicken dinner with another friend. The chicken was cooked beautifully and was delicious! It came with a small side of maybe cous cous? I did notice the discrepancy in the portion sizing between all of the meals. Two desserts were ordered: tiramisu which was as you would expect, and the olive oil cake was definitely something more special with rhubarb compote and strawberry gelato. Both were delicious. The entire meal took over two hours, which was a bit long for my taste but I was in good company. The most awkward part was when a friend tried to pay with cash and was told they don't take cash, which seems unusual to me but few people carry it anymore. I feel the small print on the front door did not stand out nearly enough to warn us that cash was not accepted here, and some would say a business cannot refuse cash, but I myself don't know the rules about that. You should know before you come that this restaurant is very expensive, there is no free salad or bread with your meal, they are each extra. I'm not sure I want to spend this much again, I don't think I got my money's worth. read more

Do not go. Food took 45 minutes to come out. Butternut squash ravioli were anemic. They tasted like they had been filled with raw canned pumpkin. There were 6 in a $25 order. Potato gnocchi were not as listed on the menu (I was later told they forgot to change out the menus). The gnocchi were tough. Service was terrible. No check-back after dropping our overpriced and dour food. Waitress was forgetful in other ways that I can forgive. Worse, I messaged the restaurant chain via their website to express concern and have not heard anything after about 2 weeks. Won't go again. Won't go to any restaurants managed by Ethan Stowell. I've been going to Tavolata for years in Seattle so was excited for it to expand to Spokane. As always, the food was fantastic! We go for happy hour since the prices are much cheaper for the same portions. As told by our server, they are slowly ruling out happy hour in the main dining room and only offering it in the bar area. However, she still let us order off the happy hour menu which was very nice. My go to is the rigatoni, but the pappardelle is also delicious. The cocktails on the menu change (which is nice), as does the food menu, but most of the staples are kept. We also shared the Tavolata salad which was a nice take on an Italian salad. Spokane was really lacking in the Italian department so we'll be back for sure! read more

I love this place, but last time we went they were out of everything. The carbonation for soda was out, they gave us a free salad then said they credited us but all they did was credit us for the salad we never ordered. Wonderful food, but not a good pick for those who have mobility issues. Like most places on Spokane Falls Boulevard, there is no on-street parking, so one has to hike. Inside the restaurant, there were several stairs down into the dining room (the bar area was not being used due to staffing shortage issues.) The host was using a computerized seating chart app which, when we requested a change of tables different than the one that had been chosen for us, he was unable to figure out how to change it. The chairs and booth-backs are wood, which made a prolonged stay uncomfortable. We loved the happy-hour food and drinks, but as someone who likes fine dining but is older and has trouble walking, I'd not want to make a second visit. read more

Really great experience. The Papparedelle was very good, cooked perfectly. The kids added a bit more of salt, but I thought the seasoning was right on. The Calamarata Nero was one of the best pastas I've ever had. Loved the sourness in the sauce and again the noodles were perfectly Al dente. The halibut was superb and even my daughter who doesn't have an affinity for fish loved it. The only detractor from the meal was the spaghetti we ordered for the kids - very undercooked and we sent it back only to get the same undercooked pasta. Zeppole's we're not very good - undercooked and not light. Could have had more lemon flavor and the chocolate ganache didn't compliment it well. read more

Wow, this place is awesome. I have had Carpaccio at many places across the US and none can compare. For the main course I had the black pasta with calamari. Again, just over the top with flavor and texture. Nice selection of cocktails and wine. For desert I had the apple straddle type with ice cream, you have to have it ! I travel to Spokane every other week and usually try a different restaurant each visit. When I Yelped restaurants nearby my hotel, Tavolata showed up on the search. I'm so glad I tried this restaurant and was wondering how I missed this place before. The pasta here is amazing! You can definitely taste it's freshly made. I have been here twice now. I would prefer that there was more attention paid to staggering the starters and mains as the tables are quite small and as such does not leave much space for drinks, food, plates, etc. I tend to feel a bit rushed because of this. Pasta is 2/5. Got the rigatoni and Linguine Nero. No development of flavor, very basic, they DID put salt. Going here is the same as going to Safeway and buying uncooked pasta and a jar of sauce, cooking it at home and pouring the sauce on top (that may even taste better than this place, unfortunately).
