Pasta is 2/5. Got the rigatoni and Linguine Nero. No development of flavor, very basic, they DID put salt. Going here is the same as going to Safeway and buying uncooked pasta and a jar of sauce, cooking it at home and pouring the sauce on top (that may even taste better than this place, unfortunately). We took my girlfriends mother here for her 68th birthday. She wanted good Italian food. This place would be great if you wanted grease soaked Americanized dishes with very basic flavors, not good Italian food (we didn't). They have done a completely different take on Italian so just don't go expecting Italian. It would also be great if you wanted to listen to hardcore rap music like NWA and Ice Cube along with several others I didn't recognize dropping N-bombs and F-bombs and telling all about their bit€#€s, H@€s and makin' mo money with drugs (we didn't and by the looks and comments of all the patrons, they didn't either), this continued all night setting an interesting atmosphere. At $38-45 per entree and $30 for a medium bowl of pasta I would expect quality and only two of us had upset stomachs from the grease so not too bad, third didn't eat their Gnoche due to poor flavor. On the plus side my $11, 3x3" Tiramisu was Walmart quality at a minimum. After spending hundreds on dinner all I can say is at least we had each other's company. I will say that my drink was made well and the interior looks nice. It's more of a bar lounge hang out style design. read more

Linguine Nero and Gnocchi alla Roma, Tavolata salad and focaccia. All wonderful except the bread. The salad is fresh and light. Linguine is toothy, earthy and rich (I am surprised at the mixed reviews- there is nothing not to like about this dish). Not what I expected and very delicious. Gnocchi - bright sauce and the gnocchi pillowy with good amount of yummy cheese, I am glad my husband ordered to so I could taste. Good service, crowd, lighting, noise level and background music! Lipstick on a pig. First and foremost my dad and i both got food poisoning after eating here last night. Mr. Jack was a terrible server. The food was bland. Our food took forever and the worst part (after the food poisoning) was that we watched every single cook eat the food while cooking it. Had my daughters birthday in the private dining room. There were 15 of us. The servers were so friendly and on top of everything! The food was incredible as always. Definitely should give them a try! You won't be disappointed! read more

The food is decent to good. Too bad the attitude and service don't match. I have never in all my years of fine dining been pressured and rushed through a meal like at this restaurant. I understand turnover and I am not insensitive to it but these folks are way over the top. Arrogant, act as though you should be thrilled to dine with them but the rushing is way rude. Desert menus literally plopped down prior to half way through out entree's. They wanted to practically snatch the check out of my hand before I had a chance to even sign it. Server with a sullen and bad attitude. Don't bother with this place. They're high on themselves but their arrogance will bring them down. read more

Food wasn't good and was super expensive. None of the people I went with really liked their food. It was just like a regular restaurant I didn't feel like the experience was anything magical. This place is a high end joke, maybe in Seattle it may be good but the new eatery in Spokane is way way over priced and definitely not gourmet as advertised, anything but!,,,,,in addition you may comfort yourself by the decor........wrong!!!......hard wood benches to torture you behind as well as wood chairs too. Very plain in and out, very low quality food....we ordered four different courses, none but the fish were good. A NEVER again place, that is for sure. read more

I've made better pasta at home and we paid $250 for such a disappointing dinner. The filling in my ravioli was cold so I had to send the plate back for them to heat up. Wow!! We went there for restaurant week and am so thrilled we found our new favorite restaurant! Italian food has never been my favorite but this place was superb! I had the beet salad and omg it was so excellent!! Perfect recipe, with the feta and pistachios and the very light but flavorful sherry vinegar. I will go back there just for that beet salad. I ordered the Tonnorelli which was unbelievably good (and I don't particularly like pasta). The chocolate desert was a little too chocolaty for me, but husband liked it. Service was excellent, decor was modern and comfortable. I plan to go here just for the beet salad once a week, and will use this as a place to take out-of-towners and for special occasions. Food had amazing flavor. Servers were very nice. I'm guessing it's because it's so newly opened. We ordered a bread appetizer, it came after our dinner arrived. And it was literally a loaf of bread, not warmed, with butter & dipping sauce. Delicious bread from Grain Shed. But waitress made it sound like the kitchen was behind...it's bread. I think she forgot. House red wine was delicious! Everything is ala carte. Very cool vibe, think it'd be more fun to sit in the lounge. Little spendy for what you get. But all good flavor! read more

We went for our first trip to Tavolata and had high expectaitions. Food was decent. Husband raved about the red sauce on his GF pasta. We split the melon dish, interesting dressing. Liked it. l had the black cod it was good. Desserts were ok, nothing special. Now for the "atmosphere". It was HOT in there. Probably 80. Yes, it's been hot in Spokane but I don't remember this building being so hot. Hint: this is NOT Seattle and you need to have that AC on! And then there's the service. We were seated at the time of our reservation. The hostess got us settled. And we sat, and sat. Finally the waitress came over to us AFTER the table next to us was seated and she was chit chatting with them. At that time it wasnt particularily busy. We appeared to be an afterthought which carried on for the rest of our dinner. We chose not to have drinks and opted for water. Having, in another life, waited tables you keep that water glass full. She did not. The hotess brought by another container of water for us. The waitress did not. She occasionally would swing by on her trip to the table next to us to visit somemore, but we just were not a priority for her. We did tell her we were gluten free and funny thing she apparently didn't file that in her head. The dish I had did have pasta in it, I skipped eating the pasta and the dessert I had also had an item with gluten. We also waited a looong time for the bill. I am a good tipper for decent service. Wasn't this time. Will we go back? Maybe but they need to step up their service and atmosphere. Spokane has many, many good places to eat and for the moment this place isn't on my "good" place list. read more

Had a date night at the much raved about Ethan Stowells restaurant . As a chef & Maitre d' instructor, it's always challenging to receive poor reviews, so I'm struggling with this higher end restaurant! I always look forward to in-house Italian bread, crusty outside & chewy firm interior, it's the only time I eat it. This bread was a doughy brown whole wheat for sandwich slices, just did not fit with the meal. Homemade pasta is always a treat but this was 'Molto al dente' in all courses. Entrées arrived 5 minutes after beginning our appetizers, so sent them back to kitchen. We had only just opened the wine! Chef apologetically sent out a complimentary dish of broccolini?? which was not on menu & stems where woody & old. Service was friendly but very disconnected & had to ask several times for same items, it became tiresome! Service requires serious training!! Surprisingly It was not a busy night for holiday weekend. Burrata with pickled carrots was excellent Pork belly dish was dry! How can pork belly be dry? English pea ravioli, fresh peas where crunchy and ravioli again needed a little more cooking time, (should be firm enough to bite without feeling a crunch). Personally the bland sliced potatoes in this dish served no purpose! Casarecce pasta with prawn was misleading as it appeared to only have 'one' & it seemed chopped up! I thought the pasta was tasty but my date was put off with the large amount & no abundance of prawns. Chocolate torte, w/ house cherry compote, arrived with a 'canned' style strawberry sauce (I'm allergic to strawberries) & torte was very dry & seemed old to me. I had to quickly walk up to server & request the check to leave & get home! Will not return, check was close to $300 incl nice bottle wine, which was best part of meal. They discounted the meal which was appropriate but at this level everything should be en pointe. Sadly very disappointing, scale of 1-10, it's a 4 for me. Service 2. read more

I'm not from Washington, and I'm a fresh 21 year old, so finding new food spots has been really fun. This place was no exception. Ellie helped us discover new wine that we enjoyed, and she introduced us to our current favorite moscato. So we decided to try it. Service was well below what I have come to expect from a restaurant that has such high ratings...apps came before our 2 glasses of wine... main course came before second glass of wine. Wine was very good and the happy hour prices made us feel better about the average food. I ordered the pappardelle, was not disappointed- seasoned well and the happy hour portion was sufficient. The risotto was good and made my wife happy. The rigatoni was undercooked and underwhelming. The sausage was the best part of the dish. The staff seemed to be more interested in each other than the patrons. The atmosphere was great and the music matched really well- something lots of restaurants can't claim. I think more emphasis training staff on high-end service is needed. In the end, we liked the happy hour prices for the food we got, had better service ordering pizza, price to value was below expectations. Look for other options. read more

Just delicious! The pastas are all so tasty and they make them in house and cook it perfectly al dente. If you like seafood, this is a great spot for that too. The pasta with prawns is my favorite. Ask for it extra spicy if you nasty ;) Super cool cocktails and an ENORMOUS bar, so even if you don't see something on the menu you want, they can make you something great. Huge amaro selection, wine list is amazing too. The staff are all super friendly and knowledgeable about what they're offering and go out of their way to make it a special experience. Great place for a special dinner or just a quick tasty meal at the bar. The best experience I had here food-wise was with a group of friends where we ordered a bunch of different dishes and split everything as they cooked it. It was a ton of food and so exciting when new stuff would come to the table, and everything paired together super well. I also highly recommend going to one of their "feasts" with a farm or winery, or classes for pasta or cocktails, huge family style events with food that's different from the regular menu. They post when they're having them on Instagram and their website and they're usually much cheaper than similar events I've been to. They have an insane happy hour in their bar area 4-6. Drinks are discounted, but so is food. Full size enormous pastas, same as the regular menu, for $14. You can bring kids into the lounge for happy hour too. Definitely try this spot!! read more
