The tofu soup here is still yummy, but honestly, the quality has hella gone down since my last visit. We ordered the Original Tofu Soup (non-spicy) for around $24. The soup itself was tasty and the portion is definitely big enough to share between two people, but I still don't think it justifies a $23+ price tag for a single bowl. We also got the BBQ Beef Plate (around $30-$34) and it wasn't that great. The meat didn't have that nice, crispy char you want--it just looked kind of wet, and the onions could have definitely been cooked better. I was also pretty disappointed with the banchan this time around. Unfortunately, there was no fish cake/tofu banchan, which is usually my favorite. Service was just OK. A couple of heads-ups if you go: they really don't like it when you use Amex. Also, they will definitely skimp on giving you to-go boxes if they think you're going to pack up the leftover banchan (which I always do because I refuse to let good food go to waste!). Two of us ordered: -raw marinated crab, beef tofu soup $32.01 not sure freshness of the crab -bbq beef and vegetables bibimbap $26.97 Unfortunately, not the best meal. Words cannot describe the amazing experience I had here. It's a very unassuming restaurant on the outside but it's filled with love and comfort. My friend and I came for cold noodles on a hot day and the staff immediately started helping us. They pulled us two extra chairs just so we had a place to put our purses. When our food came out, they helped show us the best way to eat it and how they like to do it. The restaurant is clean, but tables are a little close to each other. The food is top notch. We had an order of BBQ beef that we loved by our daughters. Wow ?! How havent I been to this SGD Tofu House before ?! A friend recommended since it's one of her favorite Korean spots in South Bay so of course I had to check it out. The banchan also stood out to me which was a surprise since most places' banchans are good, but not AMAZING. Less banchans than some other places but that's okies! SGD Tofu House in Santa Clara is solid, but it's not quite as good as the the Palo Alto location. The seafood tofu soup is the highlight with its nice broth and addictive spice, though the protein count could definitely be higher. I also really enjoyed the seafood pancake, it's crispy without being greasy, and the galbi is flavorful, even if the portion is a bit on the small side. The main reason I still prefer the Palo Alto spot comes down to the details: the banchan here doesn't include fish cake, which is a major miss for me. Between the missing sides and the stingier protein portions in the soup, Palo Alto is the better bet if you have the choice. This has always been a favorite spot of mine. On colder days, or when I feel like I need something warm and comforting, I come here for the tofu soup. I like mine extra spicy and the workers always laugh at my request - tickled that someone would want it at level 10 - but make it as spicy as I want. It can depend on the days/times, most the wait for seating doesn't take that long. It seems like most people still grab to go orders instead of eating at the restaurant. The service is quick and we've usually been able to get whatever we needed with ease. The servers have been efficient and attentive - refilling waters and banchan dishes when asked. Another word they only nice to their own people, Korean customers We sat down and waited for someone to come to take our order. Came after us were other Korean customers. Other tables came after us already had water, their orders taken and they had banchan. We had nothing Finally we placed our order, still NO water. Table behind us had their water refilled. Comparing this place to Milpitas SGD. In Milpitas, each person gets their own set of side dishes. But here, if you order 2 soups, they give you 1 container of sides and was told it is enough for 2. In Milpitas, this is just 1 set for each tofu stew order. Also, the fish roe tofu stew is all broken up. The fish row looks like it is crushed and then added in. With the colder weather, it was quite full on a Saturday night, around 7pm there were more than 4 groups waiting in line. Lots of Doordash orders too. I came specifically for the soondubu (soft tofu soup). Ordered mine with spice level #3 out of 10. There's more than 10 different soondubu options (seafood, dumpling, mushroom, etc). I chose the kimchi and pork one and no notes at all-- seriously, it was so warm and filling! The banchan were pretty good too and the servers came by often to refill. I've seen some reviews saying that service was slow, my case was more that the restaurant was just busy but whenever we asked for something, they did their best and came ASAP. My only downside would be the price, it's more than $20 for the soondubu. I totally understand quality, but this felt like a big surge in price.
