Came here on a Thursday afternoon in the summer and it was empty, shockingly! I intended to order the beef gyu-don but they didn't have it so they suggested the chicken karaage. They told me it was a rice bowl with seaweed salad and when I got it, it was just chicken. As someone who struggled to find good boba (I guess y'all call it "Bubble Tea" but whatever lmao) in Boston, this place came in clutch tbh and since it's open late and also checks out my love for EDM and talking shit with friends it was a happy medium for me honestly. Their top ten was perfect for my indecisive self and service was fast, nice, and affordable. It's also in the heart of Chinatown which was convenient and nice to explore as well. One of my top places for bubble tea in Boston! The options are numerous, ranging from milk teas, regular teas and smoothies. Admittedly, I have only had the tropical twister tea from here but it's only because I had it once and instantly fell in love. The combination of mango, pineapple, passion fruit and lychee jelly is super refreshing, especially in the summer! I have been going here for years and don't plan on stopping. My only qualm about this place is it is ALWAYS packed no matter what time of day. That goes to show how popular this place is, but be prepared to wait awhile for your drink and deal with the hectic pace of the place. And if you're lucky enough to swipe one of their high tables or one of their 2 long tables, they have games such as Jenga to make for a good time. Coming from the Bay Area I wasn't sure how Tea Do would compare but it was actually pretty good. I got a black milk tea with boba and lychee jelly -- made the mistake of not doing half and half for toppings so it was a topping heavy, but still really good! The boba was decent, not amazing but certainly not bad. The black tea was strong but also not astringent at all. It was a little sweet, but that could have been b/c of the toppings. I got a small tea because it was my first time and it was a little pricey, about $5 for not much tea. I do expect it though given it's in a major city. From the menu, Tea Do reminded me of a place back home that sold food and bubble tea, so I wanted to give it a try. I ordered the takoyaki and two gyudon bowls for pickup. When I got there my order was ready, and I also ordered the Thai Coconut Smoothie. The takoyaki tasted good, though it was smaller than I expected . Then again, it is $4.25 and at least it wasn't like the flat takoyaki they would have at all you can eat sushi places. So for the price I thought it wasn't bad at all. Gyudon bowls were delicious. They have an option to add shrimp tempura onto it for $2 more, which I did. My smoothie was tasty, but I they had over filled it and it got a little messy, and it had dropped from the sides. It's surprisingly difficult to find a good avocado smoothie at boba shops that aren't just made with powder but Tea Do makes a great one! I unknowingly walked in more of curiosity than knowing what to expect. Once inside, I was surprised that they had seating and a good amount of it. One side of the place was covered in school aged children just out of class and the other side had some high tops with couples, shoppers and touristy looking people sitting around enjoying teas, smoothies and coffee. I looked over the menu and inquired about their Thai Tea to see if it was authentic or full of sugar. The staff was quick with answers and all the right ones?? This usually doesn't happen in a Bubble Tea type place. The process of ordering goes like this. 1. Go up to the counter and order your beverages. 2. Pay while you are at the counter. 3. Receive a receipt with a number on it. 4. Watch them prepare your beverage in full view and hopefully you ordered one that they shake. They have a wonderful machine that shakes the beverage and another that seals the top, airtight which comes in very handy for travel. 5. They call your number and you receive your beverage with airtight seal. 6. Tell the servers Thank You, 7. Take a straw, they have two sizes, one regular and the other large to accommodate Boba if you have chosen to have some in your drink (I always choose the Boba, Bubbles, Pearls) both straws have a pointy side to stab though the airtight seal for easy non spill drink enjoyment. My Thai Tea was one of the best I've had. This place is Top Notch!!! I give Tea Do Contemporary Tea House a Solid 5 Stars. read more

There is always a line for this place, especially on the weekends. One weekend after dim sum at China Pearl across the street, my friend and I finally decided to try out this place. As expected on a Sunday afternoon, there was a long line, but it moved pretty quick. The shop is small, but they have a fair amount of seating with some small tables. I ordered the Taro Bubble Milk Tea and the Takoyaki Squid Balls. Their bubble tea was top notch, I can see why they always have a line. The Takoyaki came as 6 pieces and was amazing! Tea Do is my favorite bubble tea chain in the Boston area! Their teas are consistent and don't have an added flowery flavor as you'd find at some shops. The Chinatown location is also convenient in that it has the most seating of all the boba shops in Chinatown. I really love their black milk tea and Thai tea. That being said you should be warned that it can get quite packed and quite loud in Tea Do. It's a fun gathering place but sometimes it can feel too much. This place was a quick stop for my girlfriend and I after dinner before we went home. We were originally just going to grab a quick bubble tea and go home, but they have jenga on the table for you to play! We ended up staying for 30 minutes playing jenga. It was a perfect end to the night. She and I shared a green tea with grass jelly. Although we had it at 30% sweetness, it was REALLY REALLY sweet. Next time I would ask them if they can make it even less sweet than what we had because our drink was way too overpoweringly sweet. Aside from that, I would give this place a 5 star. The Vietnamese iced coffee was good, not too sweet and had a good flavor. I prefer it with the condensed milk which they don't do here, but still solid. The coffee milk tea was a little too sweet for Me and had an odd aftertaste. I probably wouldn't get it again. I came to Tea Do on a day that they were SLAMMED! It was so packed that there was almost a line out the door. With that said, they moved the line efficiently, and it did not take forever to get our order. They also make some great tea drinks and will alter the sweetness level to your preference. So I'm hoping folks come here for the 'hang out' vibes and not for the drinks because I can't say anything good about Tea Do's beverages. I ordered a Jasmine Milk Tea and found it incredibly watered down and the tea base hardly distinguishable. If they can't even get a simple drink like this correct, I don't have confidence for their other drinks. If you're looking for a good quality drink with quality and real, natural ingredients, do yourself a favor and stay away from Tea Do. The artificial flavor pump syrups and the absence of real fruit in sight should tell you something. Located in the heart of chinatown, walked in the shop surprised on how packed it was filled with a bunch of young students. The shop is pretty small. I wouldn't suggest to come here as a big group. I opted with a matcha latte boba. Overall it was a lil too sweet for my liking and the boba itself didn't have much flavor and consistency wasn't my preferred taste. It's good but not my favorite. I'm so happy there's a place in Chinatown that offers bubble tea past 10pm. They make the drinks so quickly and they're so good because you can customize the sweetness levels and the amount of ice you want. The prices are also really good for their sizes so I always enjoy coming here after going to the bars, haha. Though because it's probably one of the few bubble yea places that are opened past 10pm.. it can get super crowded in a small space. We decided to give this boba place another try because of their stellar reviews. But we were disappointed. Even drinks with little sugar were way too sweet for us. We ordered honey jasmine green tea, black milk tea, and strawberry milk tea. The boba and aloe were decent. If you want actual tea that tastes good, go to Kung Fu or chatime. I ordered a Thai milk tea with boba something pretty simple and it was really good. I also got a shrimp tempura onigiri and if you get this you have to eat it with the sauce it makes the world of a difference. And I believe this house is included. All include a picture of my boba but I was so hungry that I didn't take a picture of the onigiri. The only con of this place that I saw was it was a little bit too loud. The bubble tea is good - there are lots of options, including some specialty drinks. I'd recommend getting lychee pop for an extra 50 cents if you want to up your boba experience! The only critique I have is that they advertise WiFi here, but I couldn't log in despite trying multiple times. tl;dr great choice for boba in Boston, can get crowded/loud but prices and selection are very reasonable. Late hours are a huge plus. Definitely visit! I have been to Tea Do numerous times over the past few years, and it is my go-to boba shop in Boston. They have a large selection of both hot and cold teas as well as types of boba, my favorite of which is the mango jelly. The milk teas are also not overly sweet - if you have been, I'd say the regular sugar level at Tea Do tastes like 70% that of KFT. The regular boba itself has a good texture and flavor, not being too hard/chewy and not being completely flavorless. Other boba places are usually too strong or too bland, but I really enjoy what Tea Do is up to. The staff at Tea Do are also incredibly nice and accommodating. It can sometimes appear hectic behind the counter with so many drinks being prepared, but I have never been given subpar or even mildly unfriendly treatment. Good job guys! Tea Do is typically loud and crowded at most hours, but if you wait long enough you can certainly find a seat (see pictures). They have lots of board and classic games available to play, which are especially good for relaxing for an hour or two when you have the time. I would not recommend Tea Do as a place to have anything more than a super casual conversation (i.e. do not have an interview here like you may at a Starbucks). Overall, *definitely* go to Tea Do for a good visit that will not disappoint, and explore the rest of the area while you're at it for some good variety - there are boba shops up and down the street! read more
