Underwhelming. My mom and I love English tea service and have been to quite a few tea houses. This is a GREAT place for a child's first tea but I can't recommend for adults. This tea room is *ok* but could improve in some specific ways: 1. They make you select which tea you will have in advance- most tea houses show you a menu on site and allow you to select. Most tea rooms also have an extensive list WITH DESCRIPTIONS OF EACH TEA- not the case here. 2. The sandwiches are good and a generous size- everything else is meager. It's tea so all portions should be small, but we were served 1 scone and the desserts were all tiny macaron sized with no duplicates so you couldn't have the same ones as your party. If you google "afternoon tea" and look at how the tea towers are usually set up, they look bountiful and FULL. 3. Service was meh. College town means college students- not super attentive and had to ask for CREAM AND SUGAR AT A TEA HOUSE... so odd. Overall- I'd recommend offering 2 scones, increasing the desserts to more interesting selections, and allowing guests to choose their tea at the table. We came here as something fun and unusual to do with my niece... we did the queen tea for the adults and the kids tea for my niece.. The food was all good, I think we had a new waitress, she was not very knowledgeable on what she was serving and rarely came by to check on us. It was a very strange tea party. We also asked for a different drink for my niece and we're told sure no problem and then never got it.. asked about 20minutes later and never received it. We got up to pay, and left and the waitress never mentioned it. All in all it was an odd lunch. The food and tea were good, honestly would have enjoyed it more I think had we taken it all to go. The tea selections were excellent. The taste and quality of of the teas were also very good. The finger foods were tasty and could, actually, really fill you up! I regretted eating a snack before going since I did not eat breakfast and my friends and I didn't get there until 2pm for a late lunch. We had 6 people and plenty of left overs. I made reservations for 10 people on a Sunday to celebrate my sister getting married. This was our first time here. This place is super cute. Small but classy. Unfortunately, only 7 people showed up. They let us know that they prepared us for 10 people so they would have to either charge us 15% per person of who didn't show or charge us full price and we can take the food home. So keep this in mind if you make reservations. We ordered the High Tea which is $30 per person. They have a variety of teas from caffeinated to decaffeinated. They also have some seasonal teas as well. The table was set outside beautifully under some trees and a small fountain in the back. This definitely set the mood. There were other tables outside and dining on the inside. After ordering our teas, they brought out some warm scones. They were fresh and delicious. It was served with jam and some type of cream. Then they brought the food. The first tier contained a variety of fruits, the second tier was pastries and the third was finger food. They also brought out a plate of curried chicken sandwiches. All of the food were simple and delicious. We also got out teas in between getting our foods. The teas were to my liking however I wish that they had labeled them. I gave 4 stars because we didn't know that each person would received two pots. This is not something they mentioned. It wouldve been nice to know instead of us asking. I absolutely love tea list. Their tea is good, their food is good, the outdoor seating area is immaculate, it all encapsulates the tea party that five-year-old me dreamed of. I went for my birthday and got the Afternoon Tea Service, and had such a wonderful time. Not cheap by any means - you are definitely paying for the experience - but in my opinion so worth it. The little sandwiches were delicious, the scone was amazing, the pastries at the end were wonderful, and the tea was just perfect. We also called ahead to ensure the menu was set for one vegetarian guest (me!) and one vegan guest. They were beyond accommodating, and I was a really big fan of the vegetarian sandwich substitutes. Service was a bit slow, but no one in my party felt it was a problem at all, especially since it let us really enjoy and relax into the conversation, food, and drink. Tealist used to be my favorite hidden gem in Davis. I revisited again after a year and have never been more disappointed. The old owner was very nice to us and would constantly check if we were enjoying our service. Found out there was a new owner at my most recent visit. I ordered the High Tea and was saddened when my table wasn't set with a white linen like before, instead it was a napkin that did not cover a third of the table. My sister-in-laws have been coming here for years and had nothing but great things to say about this place. They always loved coming here. After today's experience with one server, we will not go back. How unfortunate. If we didn't interact with the server who had a "vibes" tattoo on her forearm, my experience would have been perfect and we would continue our afternoon tea visits here. We had a lovely set up on a Sunday morning at 11:30 AM. My sister in laws made reservations months in advance to celebrate my bridal shower. They set up a beautiful table for 13 and had everything ready by the time we got there. Our initial server, which I can't remember her name, was super friendly and attentive. We were not a needy group since we knew what we wanted and they already brought us everything! The sandwiches, Pastries, and fruit were super tasty. Fruit was fresh. Pastries were delicate and not overly sweet. Sandwiches were refreshing and tasted delicious. Our favorite teas were the Long Island Strawberry and their specialty mango. We planned on buying teas after we settled the bill but one server was just plain rude. We are not sure if the vibez server was rude was because we paid, so there was no "need" to provide service. Her attitude was not acceptable. We kindly asked her to take a photo of us all (13 of us) at the end. She agreed. Now, if she were busy, she could have gotten another server or informed us that she would be with us soon. We were not in a rush nor were we demanding. From the start, she looked annoyed. Within 2 minutes, she tells us that if we aren't ready, we should come get her when everyone is ready in a very condescending tone. Mind you we were just trying to all squeeze into a corner. My family and I were taken back by her comment and asked her if she had something to do. And she said yeah, I have to go grab things. I replied, then you can go and we will ask another server. She then said well if you're ready, I'll take the picture. Takes the photos. She leaves with a rude tone after we said thank you. I believe she intentionally took all the photos without me in it. You can't miss me. I'm the only one in white LOL. Good thing I checked before leaving. I get it, you are busy. But if you are busy, you need to inform that person. Don't agree to something that you don't want to do nor do you have time for. You don't take it out on the customer, especially when we were being kind and patient the entire service. There was no need for any attitude, eye rolls, or an annoyed face. I've been a server so I understand but seriously... attitude over a photo... AND it's not even 1:30 PM. I think you should just go home. Anyways, we found our initial server and she KINDLY took our photos with NO ISSUE! It was a good time. This spot is a hidden gem! There are very few places left serving tea and we thoroughly enjoyed our time! It's right in the heart of Davis but is hidden away and very cute! Was so excited to have a reservation @4pm on a Wednesday. I've been here before and had a wonderful experience that I would have totally recommend to people in the past. However, for my recent reservation the owner contacted me (same day) that the reservation I made would have to be moved up since the kitchen closes @3:30pm. And explained that it is mentioned on the website. However if that were true, then the owner needs to pay attention to the details and realize that her own website needs to be updated. I was truly looking forward to this experience and sharing it with someone that I love. And I wanted to give him this little treat since he always works so hard to make sure I am taken care of. But a reservation means you're being expected and if the kitchen closes at 3:30, wouldn't it make sense to make the food in advance for the reservation? The moving of time and not trying to accommodate for future customers, even though the business made the mistake. Honestly aggravated me. And for that, I unfortunately DON'T recommend people to come here. Since a reservation doesn't matter in this establishment. But this is America. You can all do what you think is best. I just don't want this to happen to someone else, who wants to have a beautiful tea experience with someone they love and the owner changes your reservation you made weeks in advance and does blogging to fix her own mistake. Tea List is in a secluded location but is still easy to find. This is a small store that has a few tables inside and more outside in their enclosed patio. I don't know where I should start!! This place is the absolute perfection in every kind of way. It was one of my close girlfriends' bridal shower. The bride's friends and family decorated the place with a class that matched the classiness of this place. I grew up in a country that was significantly influenced by British culture, which is something I adore. I love it! A week later, I am still in awe. The tea sets and the teapots were gorgeous and of outstanding quality. There were some matching sets, but since this was a huge party, the different teapots were getting passed around. Some pots kept the tea hot longer than others, but that's okay because everything else was perfection. The only thing that I wish I had the chance to ask for when I first arrived was milk and sugar :) Which came later, and that was the cherry on top of my Earl Grey tea. Part of the hors d'oeuvre was beef Wellington (I think I almost cried with happiness, hahaha) because I also can't remember when I last had some. This whole experience is bringing me tears of happiness and joy and nostalgia that I can't ever shake. Some tips for visitors: Please arrange for extra time to find parking, especially if there's a Farmer's Market I think there was a different area for the tea party, but note that the place is tucked in the back. Please, please, please be kind to the staff and servers; I saw how hard they work and how attentive they are, and even if they are not, please be kind to them. This place is too cute. I came here for a baby shower, and what a cute dainty place to have it at. The place itself is small, but plenty of outdoor seating available. Great if it's nice outdoors. We all got the afternoon tea package. Initially I thought that the food itself was not going to fill me up, but it did! I was surprised. Their scones were so delicious, it even came out warm. I went on a weekday in May. The weather was very warm but we got seated in the shade underneath the trees, which we found very comfortable. Service was attentive and tea and food were delicious. Selected the High Tea Service and the choices were spot on. One person in my group was pescatarian, and they were able to accommodate this. We were able to select our teas as we went along. Casual atmosphere. Like having tea on someone's patio. The shop is toward the back of a cluster of small businesses in downtown Davis. It was a little hard to find due to poor signage. I first discovered Tea List on Yelp several years ago. I've always wanted to try them out, but the timing was never right with my friends and family back then. Luckily, my husband agreed to have one of our dates at Tea List recently, so I was very excited to dine here. You can directly make your reservations on Yelp, so you don't have to worry about calling to make one. When your reservation date does get closer, however, they will call you to confirm your reservation AND see if you are ordering either the Queen's tea, High Tea, or Afternoon tea service. If you don't feel like ordering any of those, that's alright too! They just need to know ahead of time if you're ordering any of those services listed. Since my husband has never been to a tea house before, we decided to be "extra" and order both the Queen's tea and Afternoon tea services. I'm glad that we did though since he really enjoyed it. The Queen's tea has quite a bit of food. I couldn't finish everything, so I of course gave it to my husband. But the food (from the sandwiches, salad, cheese plate, and desserts) was very good! They offer a good variety of delicious teas. My husband liked the raspberry lemonade tea so much that we ended up purchasing some loose tea leaves to take home. The service was excellent! All of the staff that we engaged with were very friendly, helpful, and quite knowledgeable about their menu items. I came on a double date and we had a wonderful service. The food was delicious. Since we booked in advance, there was someone in the kitchen that timed it so that we had fresh from the oven scones on our table. They were insanely good! Loved that the tea was clearly brewed differently depending on temperature. They gave you your teapots with little timers so you knew the recommended brewing time, and placed cute little saucers on the table for the tea steeper to go once you were ready to take it out. It was shady, and just a bit hot, although it was probably over 100 degrees. The reason for only 3 stars is because of the desserts. The food was served with attention to detail (you get your own little tea timer), and was well presented with a good variety of sandwiches. The sandwiches were pretty tasty, which is why the desserts were such a disappointment. They just tasted mass produced, which belied the attractive presentation. Very disappointed in overall experience at last visit to Tea List. Tea List has been my go to spot since 2015. However, I'm not sure about returning. The service was really terrible from the moment arriving to get a reserved table and up until leaving. I just felt like staff was annoyed with any extra questions about teas, or even to walk over to the restroom due to staff needing to escort to public restroom. Staff were inpatient with simple requests for honey or even extra scones order. Portions were also much smaller with barely any fruit on the high tea order. They used to give cloth napkins for more of an elegant experience. But now they give tiny little paper napkins that don't help with anything. The setting is always lovely, and probably the only thing that is positive. read more

When we were seated to our table I noticed how cold it was in there. I asked the waitress if we could close the door and she said no. They say they turned on the heat I think?I was still cold with the door still open.Davis that day was 51 degrees out! This is my 2nd time here . I was here in 2021 for a party of 3 and it was so fantastic I decided to do it for my Birthdya celebration Let's start off with reservations! I reserved for 16 people and 13 showed up! Since we RSVP for 16 people they made enough food for 16! We had to pay the service for people who didn't know up. Me , personally , which was fine because I expected it and prepared for worst case scenario. The bill came with our service of high tea service $35 per person includes tax and gratitude! When I had initially rsvp, they asked for a card on file and in case we cannot make it they will charge for any missed appointments. They said it was 2 weeks before the event ( I booked a month ) . Which is UNDERSTANDABLE cause they get so BUSY and so PACKED! They will call and confirm with you within 48hours ! I know in previous reviews I read this was a big problem, but they don't understand they're a small guys and spots are limited. Just like if they were to make a hair appointment or dental appointment. The sandwiches were so good it was a lot! I didn't expect us to get full but we did and took some extra food home which was great! They were able to accommodate 2 people in my party due to being pregnant and I didn't know they couldn't have smoked salmon ( previously when you make your RSVP they ask for any dietary restrictions . ) there was different varies of tea Sandwiches and desserts . Everyone loved the sandwiches and desserts! The tea was really good. For my group we had 8 different tea pots with different teas that will share 5 cups per one big pot. So we did a variety and it was so good. The service was great! They answered all the questions we had. I hosted my baby shower tea party here last weekend and let me tell you... Dalia and her employee were amazing! My tea party was perfect! Beautiful weather and extremely intimate with my friends. I inquired with Dalia over email which she had quickly responded to me out of all the other places. I used my positive senses and continued to email her about my party size, date & time. I had to put a card hold for my party size which was perfectly fine with me. On top of all other questions she had responded promptly and gave me a quote over the phone. She also allowed me to bring my own decor which was just balloons, center pieces & gift bags. I was able to host with adults and kids at my table. The food was great! The tea was delicious! The outdoor seating + shade was awesome! (I had afternoon tea + children menu) They were covid friendly! Super safe with masks and gloves.
