Always excited to try any tea or boba place. Tea Monks is located close to Ruby's and Starbucks. I got the strawberry lychee flavored tea with a beef empanada. The tea is good and the empanada was delicious, the pastry is light and crispy, comes with some sort of red chimichurri. Great little pick me upper for more shopping. There's a "combo special" sign camouflaged with the menu. A non-blended drink & 2 empanadas for $10 which is a great deal because my order for a drink & empanada was $9.50. Would've been nice for the staff to offer the combo special knowing it would only be a few cents more. Fast service. Good drinks & food.

Pink Paradise beverage was extremely sweet for my taste! Customer service was very good, and the price was reasonable. Happy I was only sampling some else's drink Next time I will order something closer to my liking

Grabbed a few drinks on a quick trip to the outlets. There was no one at the counter when we arrived, so it took a couple of minutes to order our drinks. Here's what we got: Classic milk tea with boba - 8/10 - boba was good consistency but the tea one itself was a little bland Mango green tea - 8/10 - refreshing but nothing special Black tea - 8/10 - good flavor; very strong Not the best or the worst tea shop I've been to. If I was shopping and thirsty, I'd probably go back. There's no inside seating but you can find a few shared tables outside. There's a funky mural on the wall.

When I visited Carlsbad, I stopped by the outlet for shopping and a drink at Tea Monks. The store is tight and has no tables, but a few are outside. I had it in the car, so it didn't bother me. I ordered a matcha milk tea and added Boba; It was very delicious. I also like the Boba because it has just the right firmness. The staff were nice. It's a good place to quench your thirst while shopping at the outlet.

Conveniently located at the Carlsbad outlets. Got the mango green tea. Service was quick, drink was decent. Nothing crazy, but it's nice to have something refreshing to sip while shopping. Good for a quick cool down.

It was our first time checking this place out, and the service was great. There was a little bit of a line on a Saturday at 3pm. We ordered the small s'more and taro milk teas for $13.50 total. The taro was a little too sweet for us but other than that it was good!

The workers were nice and service was fast and they had a good looking menu. I ordered the Zen Thai tea which was fine, I've had bette Thai tea. But the boba in it was really mushy. If you're at the outlets and you are craving boba, this place is convenient but I won't remember this place as one of my favorites.

So happy I finally found a legit boba spot in the area! I use to live near convoy so I was spoiled with boba shops! After moving to Carlsbad I've had such a difficult time getting my boba fix! I ordered the Mango Moon Smoothie with lychee jelly, and it was chef's kiss! Super refreshing, not overly sweet, and the lychee jelly added the perfect texture. It really hit the spot--especially on a hot day. My friend got a classic Milk Tea with coffee jelly and loved the balance of creaminess and bold tea flavor. I love the huge variety of toppings--a variety of boba (tapioca pearls) and jelly flavors! Their menu is super diverse: milk teas, fruit teas, lemonades, smoothies... basically something for everyone. It'll be fun to mix and match to come up with my perfect drink! The staff was friendly, the shop was clean, and the drinks came out quickly. Definitely going to come back soon!

3.5 I was in the area for the weekend. My first visit we didn't know what to order. So we chose the Tiger Tea and Thai tea with boba We weren't really impressed. The tiger tea was ok and the boba in the Thai tea was hot thus quickly melting the ice and watering down the beverage. The next day we decided to give this place another try .. ordered the Coco melon lychee Mango green tea Mango lemonade w Aloe Found a drink that I would recommend here.... Coco Melon with lychee!!! It was actually refreshing and delicious!! Would order that again!!

After a long day at LEGOLAND, my partner was craving a smoothie, and I was craving boba. We found this spot down the road. Since it was close and the only spot open, we decided to try it out. Tip: Make sure you check in on Yelp for 1 free topping! Parking: This shop is located in an outdoor outlet. Free parking in their lot. We visited on a Saturday, and it was very busy. Parking can be difficult. Ambiance/Environment: They're located along side the outlet; on the outside. It's a small spot. No indoor seating, but they have limited outdoor seating. Service: Our cashier was nice, but not efficient. I checked in on Yelp for the 1 free topping. I ordered a drink with boba. I noticed it didn't reflect on the iPad while checking out. She said it won't show on the screen, but they'll add the boba. This was not the case. They forgot to add the boba. Partly my fault for not noticing and trusting the cashier's words. It wasn't until after I grabbed my drink, took a quick photo, and left - that I noticed they forgot to add the boba. At that point I was already in my car, so I accepted the L. Drinks: 1) I ordered the S'mores Milk Tea with boba (did not get boba) and easy ice. I felt the milk tea was more chocolatey. Unsure what part actually made it "s'mores." Despite no boba and lack of taste, it wasn't too sweet and decent. 2) My partner ordered the Muscle Up Choco Smoothie, no toppings - I didn't get to try his drink because he downed it, but he said he really liked it. Pricing: It's average $$ price for boba. They do have some fun drinks that sound interesting. I'd come back to try their other drinks. I'll make sure it's correct this time.

Was at the Carlsbad outlets doing some shopping and ran into this boba shop. I love trying new boba places and Tea Monks is one of the best. I tried their Thai Tea with boba and it was tasty and the boba was the perfect texture. Service was also very quick even with the long line. The drink flavors were good and strong but the boba is no bueno. The softest boba pearls I've ever tasted! And not in a good way. It should have some chew to it. I'd order a different topping next time to be on the safe side. read more

We got 3 cups of flavored fruit tea. All 3 were bitter even with 100% sugar. Im sure the tea was overbrewed. The tea lacked fruit flavor. Just wasted $18. Next time I'll go to Starbucks instead. read more

I had visited Carlsbad and went to the outlets and every time I passed it I would see a Thai tea sign so I decided to check it out, sadly there was no boba so I just got the Thai tea but it looked different compared to the photos I had seen and it was a bit watered down besides that I would say it's pretty good, but I probably wouldn't have it again. The service was pretty quick I would say, I didn't have to wait long. it's a small shop but there are tables outside for you to sit at. read more

My cousin went to the outlet mall and brought home a drink for me...my jaw dropped to the floor and my heart fluttered with joy seeing that it was a whole whopping 33oz jumbo size! I'd never seen a milk tea cup that large before. For it being a flavor I wouldn't normally order for myself, a mocha milk tea, it was not bad! I am definitely looking forward to checking this place out firsthand myself eventually and getting a jumbo size milk tea flavor of my choice. It actually took me two whole days to finish it but it kept well in the fridge, except for the declining boba texture of course. read more

Looks from the reviews that I just got a bad batch of drinks. The wait was almost 12 minutes for 2 drinks. On top of that, with all the options for toppings they ran out of boba. On toppp of that, the worker didn't get my cap on for my drink so I just had to be careful it didn't slosh over. Good thing it was a slush. Hoping for a better experience next time, that's all. read more

This is one solid boba spot thats's clean with fast service ! I ordered Strawberry Matcha and it was 10/10!! Very well made in line with my preferences. I think its awesome you can choose your sweetness level. I get mine 50% less sweet than usual and still it tasted awesome. Boba was so fresh and not at all chewy. I have tried other flavors too and they all are so good. Pick from the top 10 favorite drinks, and you can't go wrong ! Definitely coming back again and again !!! read more

Ordered a Taro Milk Tea w/ Honey Boba and paid $6+. My biggest issue was the taste! I am someone who prefers powdered taro to having more taro chunks/the root ground up and that is what they serve here, but the flavor was so so artificial and saccharine I honestly took a couple of sips and didn't want to keep drinking it. It's probably on par with something you'd get from Tapioca Express, only it's much much pricier. Small things that also bothered me: - a 24oz is the smallest size they offer! the large is 32oz. but no 12oz or 16oz - Honey boba is their standard boba and they don't offer regular boba or mini boba - the boba itself was not very good, overly squishy on the outside and very hard on the inside which makes me think it'd been sitting there for awhile. - I saw them pour the taro milk tea out from a jug! so they don't even mix/blend the taro milk tea for you. I'm desperate for a decent boba place near me in North County, but I don't think I'd come back here tbh. read more

We went to the mall to buy graduation gifts for kids. It was a hot day and we were surprised to see a new cute boba place opened up. We stopped by to check it out. This ain't it. The milk tea we ordered looked nothing like the picture in the little billboard outside the store. My wife ordered the Matcha Milk tea for me. No matcha taste. Whatsoever. Just tastes like a regular milk tea. It was a busy day. Could they have mixed my drink up with someone else's? Absolutely. Could they have left the matcha out of my tea? Of course. But first impressions will either make or break you. They sure picked a good spot though. No worries about one honest bad review. They'll still make money. read more

So excited that a boba tea spot opened in the Carlsbad outlets! I tried the taro milk tea (my usual boba tea go-to, and the flavor by which I rate a tea place lol) as well as the tiger milk tea. I really liked the taro. It had a particularly vibrant flavor and was very smooth and creamy, unlike some other places that sometimes have a gritty consistency due to the powder. The tiger milk tea (brown sugar) was super flavorful but a little too sweet for me at full sweetness; I'd size down on sweetness percentage next time. read more

If you are a boba drinker and like boba made with REAL ingredients (real fruit, real flavoring, etc) this is not the boba place for you. Everything is with powders and taste artificial. The only thing they have going for them is you can ask for less sweet. But my kid ordered a watermelon smoothie and it tasted like a Jolly Rancher candy. No real fruit in anything. Staff was nice enough but as for legit boba not a place I'd spend money on again. read more

I never leave a review but I love boba tea so much that I felt I had to leave this one. I got the classic black milk tea today with boba. It was honestly not good. The tea truly tasted like they made it this morning and it was sitting out all day. It also didn't taste high quality (literally tasted like Lipton tea mixed with regular milk) and the boba was chewy. I'm pretty disappointed. A $7 drink should be pretty darn spectacular in my opinion. Service was a bit slow. But it was run by a bunch of kids so I guess that's not a surprise. read more

We have been to Tea Monks a couple times since it opened & have had a great experience each time. The place is neat and inviting, staff is friendly, person taking the order even suggested us the tea with no sugar which we really appreciated. We had kids along & got the mango strawberry slushee for them, which they really enjoyed & with our big order the service was fast. This is now our go to boba place in north county. read more

After my wisdom teeth removal, I craved something sweet and decided to get a boba drink for myself. I could only remember receiving the best service and most delicious drink that I could describe as magical. I got some help with Kim in finding the perfect drink in the condition I was in, she was helpful and I now have discovered my favorite drink of all time. The zen thai is the best drink I have ever tried, with Kim'd recommendation of getting condensed milk on the side. read more

Employees worked in slow motion and drinking from a community cup of leftovers they over made inbetween doing a task. It's 2:00PM and the location sold out of boba already!!!! I asked for no sugar in my drink and it tasted like I was drinking sugar water and ended up throwing most of it away!! Should have gone to Häagen-Dazs next door. Will NOT be going back!!! read more

Maybe a bit above average in taste but I didn't like their dragon fruit coconut water boba drink. They sell the largest sized I've seen at 33 OZ, and will cost just a bit over $10. It's a popular spot at the outdoor outlets and drinks can take a bit of time depending on the line. read more

Wanted to love this place cause Carlsbad is in need of a good boba spot BUT it just didn't hit the spot. I don't recommend the Thai green tea thing they had. The peach green tea was actually not bad. The regular boba is not very flavorful. The Crystal boba was pretty good, we got half crystal boba and half aloe and they charge for both fyi even if you want half the amount. Overall I wanted to love it but will still be headed south to convoy for my boba I guess. read more

They messed my milk tea because the first one was warm only one little tiny ice on it and it's melted. I saw two girls who sat next to me outdoor got the same problem and they ask for another one. So i brave myself to ask another one perharps they put more ice on it. Right after i got a new one i can tell the looks much better even got syrup on the outer like the one on the picture. Glad i ask for another even if it taste better BUT they got NO BOBA in it. Just purely milk tea while i pay for honey boba on it. And the girls sat next to me after got the second drink the color looks different the the first one and again same issues got no boba in it. I gave 2 stars because they only have 2 person in it while the line not busy also they were nice. But would i come back and give it a try? I'm not sure. Not trying leave bad review but they can do better since people are interest with the boba on the shopping mall. read more

Ok there's quite a few problems I have with this place so here's a long list of my dislikes…read more -Extremely expensive with small portion sizes, not worth the price whatsoever. -They claim the juices are fresh but sit in their fridges for days. I scratched off an expiration date and found another label underneath! They just slapped a new one on to make it look fresh. -The soups are left out for at least a week and are heated at the beginning of the shifts. The heaters for the soups are turned off when the closer leaves. I was there at the opening time a few months ago and I guess one of the employees forgot to turn the heater on and I was served a cold soup. The soups are rotting and changing temperatures and they continue to serve it!!!!!! -The açaí used is not actually raw açaí berries but packets of frozen açaí which is extremely concerning for an "acai bowl and smoothie place". -As I was waiting by the counter for my bowl I heard the employees discussing a RAT ISSUE that they said had been persistent for multiple weeks!!! One of the employees told his coworker that A RAT HAD CRAWLED INTO THE REFRIGERATOR!! I'm not ashamed that I was eavesdropping on their conversation because this is ridiculous! Once the other worker noticed me listening they instantly stopped talking and started whispering to each other, then tried to pretend like had nothing happened. -Lastly, a majority of the employees are incredibly rude. When you ask for simple modifications some of them groan or complain. They expect tips for little to no effort and stare like you did something wrong even though they have a job to do. After one employee was rude to me when I asked to swap almond milk with water on my açaí bowl, I asked for her name. But after asking, she gave me a DIFFERENT EMPLOYEE'S name in order to cover herself!! (I printed a receipt and saw her real name). But, some of the employees were very nice and asked me how my day was going every time I ordered or continued conversation with me. Overall, this establishment has reached its last straw for me. I'm tired of dealing with the nonsense this place offers and am excited for it to be replaced with apartment homes in the near future. Hopefully this will bring in tourists to Carlsbad rather than waste the pretty lawn it sits on.

First off, they lacked any signage indicating "cash only," which left me standing in a seemingly endless line, only to find out I couldn't make a purchase with my card. To add to the frustration, the staff member who informed us of this was curt and dismissive, failing to even acknowledge our presence properly.
