I came here in the middle of a Saturday afternoon needing something to tide me over in between brunch and dinner. A boba and some popcorn chicken was just what I needed. The drinks and food were brought out at the same time. I had the grapefruit juice with mini boba--which was refreshing and tart. Though someone else in my group found it really off putting, especially after drinking a sweet milk tea. Overall the place was relatively quiet, service was nice, and it was clean and bright. Nom Nom Nom! Tea Spots has the best boba drinks I've yet to try. I am an avid boba-tea-searcher, and I like to try boba anywhere I can find it. The tapioca balls are cooked to the perfect texture, and I've loved every drink I've tried there! Milk teas, Green Teas, Thai Tea, Fruit Slush, they all taste wonderful! They are very flexible and can make you just about any drink flavor you can imagine; they also give milk tea samples if you wish to try a few flavors to decide from. They serve an assortment of delicious food to choose from. I've had their chicken & beef curry which was so good and so spicy. The nice thing is, they can adjust the level of spicy-ness for just about any dish to your taste. I've also tried their fried tofu, pot stickers, steamed dumplings, and mini egg rolls and all were amazingly priced and delicious. I personally hate fried food that is dripping with oil or feels like you're just eating breading; Tea Spots has some of the best fried food I've had. I saw an order of sweet potato fries put out today, that looks so fresh and not greasy at all. They definitely get 4 of their stars for just that alone! The cashier overcharged me. I asked how the Yelp check in deal worked and she informed me that the boba or jelly was free, not the whole drink. I used the Yelp deal but she overcharged me regardless of the deal. Maybe she is new because she seemed very confused. I had to point to the menu and the price before she understood that she had overcharged me. She charged me for an entirely different, more expensive drink. Make sure you double check that you're being charged for the right drink! I also specifically asked if they made the drink warm. When the cashier said yes, I ordered my drink warm. However, when the drink came out, it was cold. I hope she did not spit in my drink. There were only three people in front of me but the wait was like half an hour just to get my order in. The bathroom was dirty. The restaurant was not very wheelchair accessible. We had two people in wheelchairs in our party. I felt like we were in the way and had to move our tables close to the walls so we were not in the way. I ordered the coconut milk tea with coconut jelly. The drink itself was not bad and even enjoyable, but my overall experience was tainted by my negative experience with the cashier and overall cleanliness of the restaurant. This place is hit or miss. Sometimes it's good other times its really bad. I keep coming back for a couple reasons: 1.) NOT many Boba options in the neighborhood and 2.) when its good, it's worth a return visit. Prices are reasonable. I've ONLY had Boba tea here. Favorite Boba in San Gabriel Valley! This place is unassuming, but makes great boba. My favorites are the milk tea Honey Lavender or the Jasmine. There is an extensive menu and I plan to try new things once I have the courage to switch it up from my favorites! My boyfriend and I decided to walk around the area a little after 9pm on a Sunday evening in search of a "light" dinner. Not much was open, and this seemed like it would be a worthwhile exploration. We were right. Bright, clean, cute aesthetic with art (but not clutter) on the walls. The pop and hip-hop playing also lends itself in creating a hip atmosphere. They have a wide variety of Chinese food and the girl at the cash register was really helpful in helping me choose what to get. I got the shrimp dumpling soup (which was good, but could have withstood a little more *zing*). The portion was so large that I took home extra. My boyfriend got a sausage and rice plate that was also really good. The herbed egg that it came with was really tasty! It was kind of weird that our food orders did not come out at the same time, but I guess it gave me an opportunity to taste what he ordered. Their boba tea selection was pretty extensive, although they only had one option for a decaf drinker like me. Still, I was really happy with what I got: the Taro tea with mini boba. He got some sort of jasmine tea (also with mini boba) that also had really great flavor. We discovered that they have shaved ice and will definitely be back to eat there again. I love tea spots - it's almost like a second home as we're there nearly every week! We go mostly for their boba drinks but we have eaten there on several occasions as well. Their minced pork bowl is tasty and I also like their pot stickers and crispy chicken bite appetizers. It's usually pretty crowded, filled with many PCC students. The only downside is parking. I ordered the Black Tea with Mango which was pretty good, the wait wasn't too long for it. However I ordered the "Grilled or Crispy Fish", the lady at the register said it would take a while and I was fine with that. After waiting for over half an hour I was then told that it's not even on their menu, and that they don't regularly serve it. The server stated he would get the manager but I guess he didn't care enough to come out. I just wish they had told me this before they wasted my time. I was happy to discover another boba tea place in Pasadena, and no wonder I hadn't noticed it before because it is tucked back in an ugly strip mall flanked by fast food restaurants. But as I walked in it appeared to be a best kept secret amongst mostly Asian PCC students. The guy at the counter was friendly and quick to answer me when I asked if the Japanese miso ramen was VEGETARIAN. "Yes, it is," he said without any uncertainty. I also ordered a coconut boba tea and Gigi ordered a lychee slushy with boba as well. I was a little surprised at the total, which was just under $18, but everything added up correctly. Our order was to go. The teas were tasty with plenty of boba, but as we drove home my daughter began to question why there were two containers in the bag when we had only ordered one item. Uh oh, I thought, they screwed up our order! I hoped for the best until we got home and then we discovered the noodles were in one container and the broth was in another. This seemed to make sense until I opened the broth and discovered globs of fat floating on top and pieces of white meat which tasted like turkey. So much for the confidence I had in the guy at the counter and the hope I had for a new favorite tea place in Pasadena. I live right around the corner...this could've been one of my frequent spots. Unfortunately for them, after the horrible customer service (or lack of) I just experienced...I won't be coming back. I came late night recently. A customer in front of me in line took her sweet time to place her order that literally took at least 8 min, which obviously isn't the cashiers fault. Lines at Starbucks go faster when they're like 10 ppl deep. However, when it was finally my turn...the girl cashier just walks away with no acknowledgment I even exist as I'm ready to place my order. She walks around for a few minutes, then she picks up the phone. Comes back to the register and proceeds to take an order over the phone "sure..how can I help you?" to the phone...while I'm standing right in front of her face for like 10 min! That set me off! Pet peeve of mine when cashiers give random phone orders priority vs a customer already standing in line. After that, I just walked straight out...while smh. Not worth the 10+ min wait just to place an order plus the rudeness. They lost a customer...hopefully more after I post this review. read more

This used to be my study spot but it's gotten a bit too loud to really focus. Regardless I still recommend this place to my friends because it's open late and they have a huuuge variety of food and drinks to pick from for a boba shop. I like getting their fried fish balls or popcorn chicken paired with a refreshing milk tea. Recently ordered a hot latte and they have the most ingenious, adorable lid design. A small heart stopper with a little spot on the lid to place it while you drink. Plus it uses less plastic on the stopper than Starbucks or even coffee bean. Does feel a little weird to drink from at first but the quality is better than most And the matcha latte itself was good too!! This is my fav place to go for Taiwanese food and milk tea in Pasadena. I switched over from AU79, which is down the street. This place also has a much greater selection in terms of food and snacks. Tea Spots has a parking lot, but it can get full. I only come here for lunch. It's usually pretty empty during lunch, so service is quick. They have free wifi. There is plenty of seating and even couches. Today, I had cotton shaved ice (mango with condensed milk, grass jelly, and red bean). It was delish! The mango flavor was mellow. It wasn't too sweet with all the toppings on it. I didn't think there were any places other than Class 302 in Rowland Heights that served cotton shaved ice. It's on par with Class 302. The major difference is size. The portions are smaller here than at Class 302. The other day, I had the popcorn chicken rice plate. It was good. I was surprised they put in a tea egg and some extra ground pork. Good portion sizes. read more

There are a lot of options (drink menu is very very large) at fair prices (ours cost about $3+tax with Yelp check in for free boba) - but it doesn't seem like they do any of their drinks well. I asked for a sugar substitution/reduction and they don't offer that because most of their teas are pre-made. If you can, ask for less ice because our drinks tasted watered down within a few minutes. Tea Spots was once my go-to place for milk tea and drinks. Once situated closer to my home on Las Tunas Blvd, they sadly moved to their new location across the street from PCC. While I was saddened to have to drive so far just to drink boba, I believe this move allowed me to venture off and try other places. This may have really been a blessing in disguse though..... Tea Spots is really just an average-tasting tea & milk tea place that doesn't offer anything special, but what it lacks in taste, it makes up in sitting space as well as cool employees. It's a great place to hang out with friends becase their tables are larger, it's usually not crowded, and they're open LATE. It's even a decent place to study because they don't play music too loud and have wifi. However, if you are in the mood for some really good milk tea & good boba, I just can't recommend Tea Spots as a place to go. This is actually hard to publically state because I've had gone to Tea Spots for a couple of years, but now that I've tried other places' drinks, the comparison in tastes is night & day. Tea Spots, you've been a good place to hang out with friends, but sadly I cannot frequent you as much as I once did because your drinks just do not hit the spot like those of others. I live close by, so this is a spot I often come by. This place is really nice for students to sit down and study in a nice environment. They provide free WiFi if you purchase something. I have 3 complaints about this place. 1. parking lot was horrific 2. the food was pretty salty 3. I ran into someone from high school here (because the place is across from PCC) That being said, I liked the at place overall. The place is almost always busy, but they still manage to serve your food and drinks fast. The food is hot and fresh out of kitchen. The seasoned fries and chicken crisps were very yummy and plentiful. I also liked how you have the option have making things very spicy or mild. The you can a a huge cup of boba tea for $4 (it definitely beats Lollicup). The only thing we didn't like was that the iced coffee we got with boba was not as cold as it could have been.
