But this new shop pops up and it's ever so conveniently located across from our newborn's pediatricians office sooo basically we are always here. Bubble tea review only. Was finishing at &pizza with my son who loves bubble tea and since this place is just around the corner, we stopped by. Definitely not a place to stop for bubble tea. We got the taro milk tea and hot jasmine milk tea. The taro milk tea just tasted like slightly sweetened flavored water. The drink was ordered with less ice too so the fact it was so watered down was very surprising. My hot jasmine milk tea came out in the same cup as the regular cold drinks. Really? While I could taste the jasmine tea (hence the extra star), it was also just watery. Looking at the color of the drinks, you could see it just wasnt right. The other star was for the nice cashier. With other bubble tea places (with better drinks), jumbo jumbo has now fallen off my list of tea places. read more

Jumbo jumbo is one of my most frequently visited bubble tea places. I am set up to receive texts from them that offer special promotions, and you earn points every time you buy food or drinks there. I love their Taiwanese chicken and mango green tea with bubbles the menu is highly customizable and you can get multiple flavors in your drinks too. The service is good, but it is a small place that gets really crowded and there's generally only one or two people working at a time so it can take a while to be served if it's busy. The people who work there all appear to be very young, like in High school. There is an option to sit and eat there if you want and they bring your food to the table for you. It is a little pricy, about 7$ for a large drink and the chicken entree is about 13$ I think (don't hold me to that I'm going off memory) but it is super tasty so it's worth the splurge on occasion. My husband and I stopped here for a quick bubble tea and ended up getting those and a snack. I've had bubble tea from the Lotte, but this was my first time trying a new place. The staff was super friendly and let us try different flavors to help us decide. We got some chicken as a snack and each got different flavored bubble teas. I really enjoyed it, everything tasted fresh and was priced right. I thought they only had the bubble teas, so when I realized they had food, we thought we'd try it. Simple goodness! I had a bubble tea here at the beginning of March before COVID became a huge thing and it was great. It was a little too sweet for my liking but since they're happy to adjust the sweetness for you it will be no problem next time to let them know I like a little less sweet. I am torn about what review to give. I love this place but they have been having a lot of issues. Pro - Cute girls, decent tea, decent prices. Cons - They open at 10:30 yet struggle to get bubbles out anytime before 12/12:30. They also have a buy 10 get 1 free stamp card but if you get jumbo like me which is $5.83 every single day, my 11th "freebie" costs me $1.86 or something like that the difference from large to jumbo. I'm sorry but I come every single day rain, snow, sleet, or sun, I shouldn't have to pay for my freebie. The other issue is a jumbo tea w/bubbles is $5.83. Sometimes i ask for 1/2 bubbles 1/2 jelly and sometimes the price goes up to $6.80. For starters each topping is $.50 so at most for double they should charge $6.33. Somehow getting 1/2 jelly 1/2 bubbles equals triple the cost. They also have a bunch of stuff on their menu board tv that they don't carry. I get you have other stores but if the biggest sign in your store is for soup, maybe carry it? read more

I used to love coming to Jumbo Jumbo Cafe. Employees where always courteous and friendly. And the best part it was up the street where I used to live. Recently I ordered their strawberry shaved ice that I loved and instead of it having cut up strawberries and condense milk with strawberry syrup. I got just plain shaved ice, condense milk and little bit of strawberry syrup. When my husband asked the employees why did it look different they stated that it's always been that way and they have never made it any other way. I'm very disappointed in their service and food. Even though this Germantown location is closer to where I live, I would still choose to go to their Rockville cafe. This branch is ok if you just want to grab their popular Taiwanese fried chicken, but their menu has a lot fewer offerings and the service is extremely slow. We came on a Wednesday evening with only two other small groups in front of us and we had to wait 25 minutes for our food. We ordered the Taiwanese fried chicken combo and tried their new BBQ chicken bun (which I strongly advise against as it lacks moisture and flavor). Love love love this locaton! First, the interior decoration is just so cute and "chinese". I mean you travel to China, Vietnam, Asia, Japan... and you'll see pretty asian coffee shops like this, instead of just brick and steel, some tables and chairs. Their menu design is just so cute too! Second, the staff is so friendly. I like the cashier girl! She gave me samples like "grass jelly" and "pudding" to try and gave me information of promotion ahead of time. And the menu is limited on food but that's okay, because I just need their famous Taiwanese chicken! First time at this location. I have tried the popcorn chicken a few times at multiple yelp events and it was so good so it prompted me to check this place out because it is not too far from where I live. We also had a dollar off any item $5 or more that we got at Oktoberfest a couple weeks ago. The staff was really nice and greeted us on our way in. I told her it was our first time there and she was extremely helpful in explaining in menu and the bubble tea. I really liked that because she could have just stayed quiet and waited for us to choose something but instead she told us what the popular items were and went into detail about them and the differences. I think it's differently worth checking out. The bubble tea we got was really good. It was milk based and had hints of chai and thai tea. I do not know if I would go back there for a full meal but the chicken I like there they also have for an appetizer. read more

I really like Jumbo and most of my experiences there have been really great. I used to go to Jumbo all the time when I lived close by and the workers there were always very sweet and readily got the orders out. However, there was one time I was a little late to pick up my order and I felt like one worker was irritated, which made me uncomfortable, but is understandable. I also wouldn't say the bubble tea tastes authentic, but I do like it. Overall, good atmosphere and the food and drinks are usually good. read more

This place sucks really bad in Germantown, MD. So I tried the Taiwanese popcorn chicken people were craving about and it tasted like somebody pour the ramen noodle soup powder seasoning on the chicken. It was really gross! I heard Rockville location is better so I will definitely not come back. I came here twice and their food SUCKS! I tried their beef noodle soup. It was tasteless and the soup had no flavor! The bubble tea however is better but not great. Stick with Kung Fu Tea. Big time no no for this place. These people giving 5 stars are probably friends or family friends that rig the ratings and give them 5 stars. THIS PLACE SUCKS! Go to Rockville locations and compare! This is not Jumbo Jumbo. We finished our trip to Starbucks so we went to see how our other friends were doing to see when we could leave. I give a good star for the bubble teas, but for the food I don't recommend at all... Any fries food taste so oily and goey. My stomach felt sick after eating the fried tofu and Taiwanese chicken. They should dry it out first before serving it to the customer. Or change the oil. I don't know. Something in the oil that makes me sick. The staff are really nice and polite. This location isn't as good as the other two locations in Rockville. They don't have noodles yet. In addition, I love the ground pork with egg on rice at the Rockville locations but they don't make it as good here. They don't put enough sauce in the rice so it's kind of dry. You can't really go wrong with the fried taiwanese chicken but it still seemed a bit off. Maybe I went on a bad day. I always get the black milk tea with bubbles but their bubbles don't seem fully cooked (it's kind of hard in the middle). I decided to try their special-spicy chicken wings with ground pork on rice. The sauce on the chicken wings was kind of weird...it wasn't spicy.. It had some sort of sweetness to it and overall just drenched in sauce. Again, the ground pork on rice was really dry. This is my first review and I'm hoping this will help Jumbo Jumbo open their eyes and improve! After having some of the best bubble teas in Asia and Toronto I don't have any complaints when I come home and have bubble tea because I don't expect much. However, if my bubble tea don't have bubbles then that's a problem. I've been here on 4 occasions in the past 1.5 months and they have run out of bubbles. #1- I went on a Sunday morning around the time they opened at 11:00..."sorry the bubbles aren't ready yet" Ok...no big deal I get something else, Jelly I think it was. #2- The following week I went during the same time..."sorry bubbles not ready". At this point I started to ask questions. How can you not have bubbles ready? Don't you open at 11? Basically she said it takes them 1 hour to get the bubbles ready and they come in at 10:50am. If that's the case open at 12! Or maybe come in at 10 and start making the bubbles. I mean you specialize in BUBBLE TEA...you kinda need bubbles. It's like me going to Dunkin' Donuts and there are no donuts. So my husband gave it another shot yesterday which was a Thursday night at 8:15pm (I think they close at 10pm) And of course "Sorry we don't have any bubbles..." BIG Surprise. So I'm hoping by sharing this review maybe they will have bubbles ready during their advertised time of business. Until that happens I'll get my bubble tea from Mr K's. read more
