We were craving milk tea after a morning of kayaking, and this was the closest place to the lagoon. Ordered online, and the prices were a bit high for what we ordered, but it wasn't out of ordinary for a place like this in the Midwest. The person working was kind enough to call to confirm the order was placed correctly - I guess it wasn't expected that someone would intentionally order a milk tea without the boba?

Anyway, I ordered a taro milk tea and a Thai tea, both 75% sugar, and all I can really say is it was like drinking liquid sugar. It was probably the sweetest milk tea I've ever gotten. If you have a working tongue and want to keep it...

asked him if the combination I chose would be a strange mix, he kindly assured me people order the same thing as me all the time. We went on a slow day, the inside was very clean and the colors of the decor (and outside of the building) were bright and fun. I found this fitting, as going for a boba tea should never be a drab affair! Next time I'm in Skokie I'll definitely be popping by (no pun intended.)

Came here on a random week day during enough time in between lunch and dinner for the first time. Luckily was able to find parking. There is also no line inside and lots of tables open and semi, cleaned to be able to sit at. The menu is pretty extensive with lots of different options for add-ons or at N's which is great to see. The girl working was very patient and very nice What is weird is that where you order is? Also, the drink pick up is however, they have set it up so that you cannot see any drink being made One of the drinks we ordered was a lychee drink with no boba and unfortunately, you can tell that there is no fresh lychee or anything even coming out of a can. It is definitely some kind of a powder mix. When I think about the competition of Boba within the town of Skokie and neighboring towns, I really think they need to step up their ingredients in quality overall. However, I do think the pricing is slightly more affordable.

T. Rex lived at the very end of the Late Cretaceous period, which was about 90 to 66 million years ago. Tea Rex, however, seems to be alive and well and thriving in Skokie judging by the fan art on the walls. I stopped back into Tea Rex after a few (not million) years and was surprised to see how bright and lively the space was, with so many different iterations of the Dino on the walls. I tried my favorite taro smoothie with boba and it was delicious as always, cool and nutty, with nicely chewy boba. The place was empty when I arrived and my order was up fast. As I left, I saw other customers entering the lot. This is probably a dino-mite spot later in the day. Am I really going to end this review with a pun? You bet Jurassican!

Whenever I'm in the burbs, I usually swing by here to get my bubble tea fix. Miss the walk through window during the pandemic but the inside is cute and service is still very speedy. Love that my go-to taro milk tea is customizable in terms of sweetness (I usually go 25 or 50%)z The tapioca is always fresh here and not rubbery and super chewy (in a bad way) like other spots I've been to and the tapioca comes with the drink and is not an add-on charge. Definitely recommend if you're in the burbs, it's down the way from Old Orchard mall.

It really knows its identity as a bubble tea cafe... not trying to be something totally different - but rather, serving out consistent Bubble Tea. There are choices for milk teas, fruit blends, teas, etc with the requisite choices of boba (or none at all). We've finally been able to get inside the cafe, since we've only been on the outside window since the pandemic. The drinks are good and consistent and the pricing is fair. The interior is very cute and colorful and plastic. The decor (branding) is on point. The Rex is a great mascot! The location is kinda isolated. As if the rest of the adjacent strip mall was supposed to be developed, but never really happened. The parking lot seems to have the required minimum parking stalls, but is arranged so oddly that no spot is a "good parking spot".

I ordered the non-dairy iced milk tea with 100% sweetness and tapioca balls and non-dairy iced milk tea 100% sweetness with brown sugar and tapioca balls. I actually think their milk tea is pretty decent. I can definitely taste the black tea in it which is a good sign. The workers made our drinks relatively fast and were pleasant. The inside of the cafe was super cute and they also have WiFi !

We've been here a few times, and we're never disappointed. The drinks are great, lots of choices, and service is quick. The atmosphere is cheery and fun. We've been going to TeaRex for the last year and this is my all time favorite fruit bubble tea in the Chicagoland area. We ordered a grapefruit tea with lychee jelly and peach fruit tea with lychee jelly and tapioca. Super friendly owners, great and quick service, and the interior is adorable playing off the tearex theme.

My husband and I were out in the Skokie area when we had a craving for bubble tea. We searched on the Yelp app and found TeaRex Bubble Tea Cafe. I love the dinosaur theme. They had so many Tyrannosaurus Rex decorations all over the restaurant. We ordered the cookies and cream shake, ice coffee, and mango smoothie with boba. The drinks were made quickly and tasted very good. I loved being able to sit in the cafe and talk with our friend. When we are in the area, we will definitely come back to TeaRex Bubble Tea Cafe!

Cute bubble tea shop in the Skokie area with a T-rex theme that is prominently displayed all along the walls and furniture. The choice of drinks here definitely skews towards less adventurous options and is actually probably targeting the casual drinker with options familiar to the American palate. With that said, the drinks here are satisfying, prepared quickly, and reasonably priced. Parking isn't too difficult and the vibe makes it an enjoyable spot to enjoy a conversation.

We were excited to see a new cafe dedicated to bubble teas so close to home. For the first visit, we came one late Monday evening. It was fairly empty, so we were able to take in the bright yellow painted walls and cute decor throughout. It was definitely inviting to our daughter, who enjoyed looking at the full wall of drawings of their T-rex logo dressed in a variety ways. Very cute touch. There are a decent amount of tables, so you can enjoy your treat there, but it looks like most of the customers carry out. They offer fruit teas, milk teas, coffee, ice blended drinks, frappes and waffle desserts. This time, we opted for a mango fruit tea with strawberry popping boba. It was definitely tasty and satisfying. The staff was friendly and we were in and out quick. For the second visit, we went on a Friday late afternoon. We must have just caught the after school crowd because it was jam packed with high schoolers. So it was pretty loud and crowded in every inch of the place. There was a line to order and the staff looked to be overwhelmed scrabbling to get the orders out. We would hear them calling out names of the orders multiple times, but it was hard to hear them because the patrons were extremely loud. You actually couldn't even see the counter from afar because it was so packed. We ordered a mango with tapioca bubble team and a red velvet waffle with 2 scoops of ice cream. After navigating past the crowd with backpacks all over the floor, we luckily found a table, which we had to wipe down ourselves. We waited a several minutes for our waffle dessert. We couldn't hear the cashier call our names, but saw that he asked the counter crowd to move, so he could make eye contact with us and my hubby had to squeeze back to the front to get it. It was pretty disappointing to see a very flat and slightly burnt waffle with a squirt of whipped cream, strawberry and vanilla ice cream, and powered sugar thrown on it. The waffle was a bit on a crunchy side and with only a hint of a red velvet taste. There was nothing special about the ice cream. A few minutes later, I thought I heard our name and luckily I caught it because our bubble tea was sitting on the counter. My hubby had to grab a straw himself because the cashier was attending to others already. We didn't get any satisfaction from the waffle dessert, but finished every bite because it was on the pricey side of almost $9. We ate fast because we just wanted to get out of that crowd. So many people staring at us just waiting to grab our table. We took our bubble tea for the road. We hit another strike because the tea was overly sweet and the tapioca balls were tiny. We couldn't finish it. It was an overall disappointing trip the second time. We would like to give it another try, avoiding the after school crowd. We are hoping for a better experience and that crowd control won't impact the quality of their items every time. read more

Right after I tapped 5 stars, the country music started. Made me want to run out the door. But the cute succulents and dinosaur art work was so inviting I stayed. My daughter and I have a weekly date and this is the place! But then...wah wah...I put my straw into my tea and the cup ripped open and bubble tea spilled all over my pants, shirt, floor...everywhere. They would not replace it. $5 down the drain. She said I poked the straw too hard. I do not think so. I think it may be the cup. Now I have a dry cleaning bill and I need shower. read more

This place is adorable -- from the framed dinosaur illustrations to the winky face decal on the toilet... I found so many cute things and I'm giving them major props for the attention to detail. Very insta-friendly! I must say the location is a little off the beaten path, but it's nice to have another bubble tea spot in the area. I ordered a green tea bubble tea and although the matcha taste was there, I wish it was more concentrated. A little bit more tapioca also would've been nice! They have a rewards system, so I'll make sure to go back and try their waffle sundaes. read more

Anytime we come here is a great experience. The walk up window is great and has hand sanitizer and contactless payment with a menu off to the side wall. Appreciated the social distancing markers on the sidewalk. Any experience here is great always go for the mango pineapple with mango jelly! So delicious! read more

The young man at the register was extremely friendly, and the tea I got is delicious! I highly recommend strawberry fruit tea with mango boba- it's refreshing and sweet. I'm so happy that this place just opened up - we needed some more bubble tea/boba spots in the North Shore! So conveniently close to me and they have their own big parking lot so parking is always guaranteed. Tea-Rex is incredibly cute, bright and welcoming. The staff is amazing, helpful and funny - and already recognize us when we come in the door and we've only been back twice (in the span of a week and a half)! Wish there was a black tea base option, but everything has never disappointed and has tasted amazing! Love the taro milk tea, regular milk tea and thai tea. Thank you for the tea! read more

Tbh I was drawn to this café because of their cute bubble tea cups and the interior of the café which I find it to be adorably cute. I am usually a picky person on tapioca when it comes to bubble tea which this place is a good job. The tapioca wasn't disgusting taste nor rubbery. The drink in general is delicious and worth going. This place is so cute and so cheap! I stopped in here after seeing it on Instagram, as I'm always in search for a new bubble tea place. They have a good menu ranging from fruit tea, milk teas, slushes, and dessert waffles! I grabbed a classic milk tea with tapioca and a strawberry fruit tea and strawberry popping pearls. Me and my wife passed by there on a Saturday night and the super cute T-rex sign caught our attention. We had to go in and e didn't even know what the actual place was. This place is filled with cute pictures of the T-rexes (seriously, these drawings are freaking awesome). I got a Banana iced blended tea and she got one with Honeydew, both were great. Those tapioka things at the bottom are nice, too. We came back afternoon the next day and got a Strawberry-Banana and Taro. This is now our favorite place in Skokie. read more

My boyfriend and I went yesterday because we heard that there was a new milk tea place nearby. We went in without knowing what was good or what to order. The worker was very helpful and suggested drinks for us to order. We ordered the red guava fruit tea and the taro milk tea, which were both suggested by the worker. On a side note, we love boba and have high standards of boba drinks, but we were very disappointed by our drinks. The red guava fruit tea tasted like a combination of guava and medicine. It left a lingering bitter taste in your mouth.. I felt like I was drinking cough medicine. The taro milk tea tasted very watered down and needed a lot more taro flavoring. The service was great, but the drinks were very mediocre. Unfortunately I cannot find myself going back again.. read more

This place is highkey nice. Although, the atmosphere is kind of overbearing due to the colors and lights. The bubble tea tastes good, and I got a Strawberry Lychee Bubble Tea with Tapioca. It's a bit watery, but I think that's bc they use fresh ingredients? Not sure. $5~ for a regular size so price is fine. Definitely would come back again! :) read more

This is the perfect spot for a cute tea-Rex bubble tea! I also love the big straws they give you, because I have little arms and they're easy to maneuver. Oh, and grab one of the waffles while you're at it - we're all going to go extinct eventually, so go all in. read more

Went on Wed night for the first time. When we walked in we were greeted right away. The workers seem very nice and humble. We ordered and got our drinks in quite some time, but not too too long. As a bubbletea enthusiast, TeaRex was mediocre for me. The interior is cute and casual but probably just a hangout spot for school kids and parents with children; not much for high school or college students. The menu is pretty small and I am used to customizing my sweetness level, but I was not given the option here. I ordered the taro milk tea and my boyfriend ordered the coconut milk tea, and you can definitely taste the aritificial powder in it. The one great point about their drinks is their boba; it is probably from lollicup from their Grade A bubble section, which is the highest quality of boba one can get. read more

I changed my rating to 4 stars after my 2nd experience. My strawberry banana bubble tea was pretty good and my friend's mango lychee was also very tasty. However, his wife ordered a "hot" taro milk tea which didn't turn out so great. The worker did warn us that it doesn't come out very hot bc they only use the plastic cups so too much heat would melt it. So the tea was lukewarm (like leaving a drink out for too long). I wanted to like this place due to the high reviews but unfortunately was disappointed. The boba was not fresh and not flavorful. The drink itself was overly sugary and did not taste good. We tried the milk tea, a fruit tea and fruit slush and none of them were a hit. Unfortunately we will not return. read more

The place is cute and pretty bright inside with plenty of seats. I ordered taro milk tea and Thai iced tea. I thought it was OK. You could kind of tell they used powder which is why I didn't like it too much. I haven't tried the other flavors so I'm not sure if they use powder for just those flavors or all of them. Stumbled across TeaRex while looking for a new bubble place stop. Best decision we could have made. It opened yesterday! Aesthetic is on point with t-Rex themed photos and cups. We ordered mango and raspberry bubble tea and tried the red velvet waffles. All are excellent options. Staff are gracious and excited about the opening. Girlfriend picked me up a taro milk tea on her way home from work and I was completely disappointed. I should've listened to all the other reviews about the taro milk tea tasting watered down because that's exactly it. There's no milkiness or creaminess to it and it was also very grainy. I immediately got drawn into the design of this place. Their menu looks beautiful. So I really wanted to like this place. But sadly they had nothing my boyfriend could drink (regular black or green tea ...something with no sugar). Pretty low quality stuff here compared to LA. Visited my relatives who lived in this area and was pretty disappointed after them saying this was a really good bubble tea spot. I've tried some typical spots like Plentea and Sharetea and they were so good in terms of just pure flavor with their drinks. We got the honeydew smoothie with tapipca pearls and for some reason they charged us an ectra $0.40 for that flavor which I assumed was because they use fresh fruit for it than powder since it's like that where I used to get them back home. The drink itself was not that great. To be frank, Id say it wasn't really a honeydew fruit flavor but tasted kind of artificial idk I hadn't had honeydew in a while but it was significant enough to notice. I felt SUPER cheated off of (yeah yeah 40 cents) since it's like they charge you more for the "Fresh Fruit" when it's not really at least I didn't taste that. Did I mention that it was overly sweet and I didn't see an adjust your sweetness option in the menu. I was hoping the nice decor would translate to good boba. The decor and service are nice, but really when it's take out, the price was subpar especially with thay extra charge and the rather disappointing flavor. read more

Meh. I've experienced better. Pros: Good interior Super nice staff Super cute toys and dinosaur pictures REWARDS PROGRAM YES! Prices are pretty okay (For the large smoothie with the black tapioca pearls, it was give or take $5 which is like spare change, would drink this over coffee) Quick service too + Huge parking lot Cons: I live too far away (my poor estate planning) The mango "ice-blend" smoothie was pretty sweet tbh and I drink lots of sweet drinks, but I thought this was like the concentrated sweetness kind of thing, not nuanc-y, hear me fam? Tapioca could be better: too bland, too not-chewy, and a bit old tasting but that may be my bad luck. I haven't tried the teas myself (except the smoothie), but my co-worker has said it tastes more like a sweet milky drink than a tea from idk Kungfu milk tea in China town. read more

I cam here with my girlfriend because she was begging to try out the new Dinosaur cafe with the cute designs and fairly good review. I went and ordered a Taro ice blend with boba and a fruit tea (forgot which one). I made an account specifically to complain on how when I was chewing boba, there was a "string" feeling that was actually a strang of hair which was disgusting. How does hair get in from making boba? The drink tasted okay but pretty sweet but my gf seems to agree with her tea but she looked okay. Seriously, hair is gross. read more

It's always either a hit or miss for these places. Unfortunately, their taro milk tea tasted like taro flavored water with non of the milky taste to the drink. The tapioca was okay though, better than Liquid Fusion at least. But sadly this will have to be my go to place since it's like a 2 minute drive from where I live. I'll try more things like the waffles and such and I'll review those, but based on my experience with the taro milk tea (large) it was watered down ALOT. read more

This place is so cute, I love it! Definitely had to go in when I saw the adorable little T-Rex! I had the cookies n cream and it was amazing! Also-kuddos for the panda lid/wrapper! I personally love the sweetness of the drinks, but my friend was able to ask for hers to be less sweetened, so I'm not really sure why people are complaining about the sweetness-just ask! The tapiocas are chewy and have a nice texture as well. Can't wait to go back and try more! read more

I have been going here since it opened, and its so close to my school. The place is so cute and unique, and their drinks are one of a kind. Interior seems pretty bright though and service was quick since nobody else was really in the place; but wow. ACTUALLY don't order the Taro milk drink, seriously. I thought it can't be too watered down like what other people said, but my friend got this to-go with us and the taro was completely watered down. More watery than creamy. read more

Is it really that hard to make a drink and add extra ice without questioning why you need to add extra ice if that's the special request? It's requested because maybe we like our drinks to not be luke warm and prefer them cold. Then to make comments and being surprised an item was ordered ("chinese" burger). It was on the menu it sounded interesting we wanted to try it...after hearing the reaction it honestly made me second guess placing the order. Then to top it off when the drinks were ready our name was called...I asked if the food would be coming later and the attitude I received back being told that it takes longer threw me off completely. Yes I asked if the food would be coming later but I was asking to ensure that they knew we also had a food order. The attitude implying that I didn't understand that it'll take a bit long was not necessary. Needless to say if we ever come back our orders will be ONLY for drinks, we will NOT be ordering food and I will hope to not have much of any interaction with the staff at this location. It will strictly be pick up & go. Hopefully your team takes some time to work on their customer service skills cause it's lacking.
