Love that this place is open late night! I was able to get a drink late on Christmas Eve to satisfy my bubble tea craving! This place does get very crowded and noisy with lots of people at night. They also have board games if you want to go with friends to sit and play games while you wait or if you choose to stay in. The decor is pretty cute with the sofas and pictures. It's decent if you want to lounge around. My drink was the Earl Grey Milk Tea with Grass Jelly. It was made a little to sweet, but the tea taste was there and evident. Unfortunately, service is very slow. I was waiting about 15-20 minutes for 2 drinks. Not sure if it's normal to ask for less ice and just get less of the drink? Every time I come here, their line is almost out the door and it's not because it's super busy, it's just because they're so understaffed. The person who's usually working the cash register also has to work in the back as well to make the teas. Getting to order can sometimes takes up to 20 minutes when there's only about 7 people in front of you. It gets really frustrating at times which is why I have chosen 3/5 stars for this place. In terms of food, drinks, and atmosphere, I think they do a good job. I love their spiced fries and they have some honey mustard on the side and it goes really well with it. Their drinks are really sweet. I shared one with my sister who prefers her drinks a lot less sweeter and so we got 75% sweet but it was still realllllly sweet. I got the strawberry pomegranate milk tea with boba and I did not like it at all. The boba was good, but the milk tea itself had no flavor and tasted so strange. I've ordered the jasmine milk tea with extra sweetness and boba and it also tasted very bland. I've tried the rose garden fruit tea with lychee jelly and it was so good! It was fruity and wasn't too sweet. I definitely recommend this drink. Their decor is pretty nice, but it gets a little too crowded and can be a bit uncomfortable with everyone squished into a tiny place like that. I'm rarely in the area so I decided to explore and try new Boba. I've seen pictures of teasociety cups all over my Instagram so I figured I'd give it a shot. I wanted to try their roasted oolong milk tea. Lucky for me, they offered samples of two beverages by the cashier. Roasted oolong milk tea was one of the two options, so I poured myself a small cup. I was immediately overwhelmed by the amount of sugar and lack of tea they put into their beverage. I decided to order one of their top 10 beverages instead, roasted black tea aka bazinga(??) I thought roasted implies that there is supposedly stronger to taste. But my beverage was rather sweet and lacked tea taste. I didn't want to order less sugar because they would just serve diluted tea. There are plenty of chairs and tables in the common area, great place to hang out with friends. This place is located across the street from Silver Creek high school so I can picture it being super crowded during the academic year. Waiting at the establishment right now and it's been 15min for one jasmine milk tea with lychee jelly and I was the first to order before a crowd came in. All I can hear are the employees talking loud behind the curtains and telling each other to "try it" over and over again. I assume they are referring to some food or drink item but I suggest they service their customers first before clowning around in the back. One of my go to boba places with my cousin as it's walking distance from her house. It's located in a large plaza with other restaurants so they're always ample parking but we usually end up walking anyways. They have a large menu of drinks but for some reason I always find myself here during late nights so I'm always asking for caffeine free drinks. I think the only perk about this milk tea joint is that they stay open past midnight. Other than that, it's mediocre tea and an extremely high level of sugar intake. I would come here only if it's a last resort and I am having a late night craving, OR if one of my friends adamantly requests for it. This milk tea place is located in a busy plaza on Silver Creek Road. It is right next to what I deem is one of the best Pho place in San Jose (Pho Y #1). Parking can be difficult as the plaza is always packed. The line is usually really long (out the door kinda thing). The wait time can vary from 5 minutes to as long as 15 minutes. The restaurant can get pretty messy as people do not clean after themselves and the staffs are extremely busy trying to make drinks and kill the wait time. Lastly, I hate how there is always a herd of guys loitering around outside the place smoking and occasionally gambling. Overall, the loud borderline annoying ambiance and wait time, I think the restaurant itself would have gotten 3-stars.. . However, the milk tea here is filled with soOo much sugar and overdone with cream/milk that I cannot 'sugarcoat'. They deserve nothing more than 2-stars. I will say that I like the variety here. I always have a good experience at Teasociety! I go to both this location and the one in Milpitas and they're both equally great! Consistent for most of the time, and I'm never disappointed. I usually get the ceylon black milk tea with boba, but this time I got the Teasociety coffee for my long drive to LA. Teasociety coffee: 5/5 I really like this coffee, a lot more than the traditional Vietnamese coffee. This one is very strong, and it can also be pretty sweet. I just ask for it to be less sweet, and then it's like the perfect cup of iced coffee for me! I'd had plenty of their other drinks as well, and I like most of them. What I like about this place is that they're always experimenting and trying new combinations and coming up with new drinks, and even improving their already well-crafted regular drinks. My usual go to milk tea place but the service has been difficult lately. It's rare for me to mess up my order because my order is the same most places -- Oolong milk tea with lychee jelly. Yet the last few times i went, it seemed like the order would come out wrong (ie different topping) and it's always met with resistance. I ordered light ice and the employee said that's how they make light ice drinks. So a regular drink is all ice or what? It was nice that you could customize the milk and sweetness level. Ice and drink size was not really a customization feature on the menu. I ordered a Earl Gray tea with 10% sugar, no milk, and asked for no ice. Even though I enjoyed the tea, there were still a few issues I ran into on this visit an on a past visit. Last time I asked for light on the ice and they filled the iced up to the top. On this visit, I asked for no ice and they didn't give me any ice, but the cup was pretty empty at the top with a big gap. The line was super long out the door and they only had 1 register. They should considering having another register or a person helping with their order like at Starbucks. These guys always have two giant jugs of tea flavors to sample and once I tried the Assam Toffee, I was in love. I came here when it first opened and was disappointed in their quality of tea. The tea taste isn't strong, its actually quite diluted in my opinion. I stopped coming for about over a year or so until they released their valentines menu. The only drink I will come in for now is the Wanderlust. It's a matcha milk tea. After having such a great experience at the recently open Teasociety in Milpitas, I convinced my hubby to give this one another shot since the last time he went, he wasn't very impressed. (I hadn't gone with him that time so this was a first for me). This area of San Jose is always super crowded so parking and driving can be a pain. The store itself was super crowded with lots of groups chilling, talking, and playing games. However, the place did feel a bit tight and cramped, unlike the one in Milpitas which was much more open. Trying our usual kind of drinks, I got the jasmine milk tea with pudding and my hubby chose the Blazinga milk tea with pudding as well. The prices here are just a tad bit more expensive than the other location, but at least I could use my credit card. Taste wise, my jasmine tea tasted just like I expected, with a strong flavor of tea and a light sweetness from the milk. The egg pudding even had a wonderful nutty flavor. My hubby felt that his black tea was a bit too strong, but he still liked it. We both, however, wished we had more egg pudding though. My hubby certainly felt this visit was better than the first time he went, but we still think the other Teasociety is better. Came here at around 10:30PM and the sign wasn't even lit! It was pretty hard to find until we actually saw the door open and a giant group of teenagers hanging around the inside of the place. My aunt decided to give this place a try since it was nearby the place we were staying at, so we decided why not? Big mistake. I ordered the raspberry pomegranate with crystal boba in hopes I would be getting a fruity flavor, but instead I got something similar to watered down oolong tea with boba that wasn't even cooked well. My aunt decided to get the jasmine tea that she usually gets which is hard to mess up, but even that wasn't satisfying! After drinking about four or five sips, she decided to just toss the drink. It tasted like perfume and the tapioca boba wasn't good either! This place was definitely over-hyped, and I'm not sure why people would want to spend there time drinking something that doesn't even taste moderately good. I used to come here twice a week as it was across the street from where I worked but ever since I stopped for school, it hasn't really been on my list of places to go anymore besides the occasional milk tea hang with friends. To start, the interior is really nice so I do want to give them props for that. The TVs are also fairly nicely placed so that anyone can see them. Of course as many note, some of their furnitures( left side of the store) should probably be switched out to something that can be more easily cleaned as they show a lot of use(dirtiness). As for the milk teas they aren't really special persay but I do find that their consistency with the taste and sweetness to be great which a lot of others places seem to have difficulty with. Nonetheless, I do find that their saving grace is the fact they have snacks that you can get which really helps when your group wants boba AND food , so you don't have to compromise. Something I dislike though is the long waits regardless of it being busy or not which is sort of off putting. Cute decor and cute cups are what reel customers like myself in, but after trying out drinks and snacks, they definitely didn't make me want to come back. A long, long, long time ago, I had first tried their strawberry pomegranate. It was a recommendation from a friend and when trying new things, I just feel like strawberry is always a safe choice to make because there is very little room for error with that flavor. I was so wrong. So very wrong. It tasted soapy and bitter and I could barely take 2 sips of that thing. Much later, fast forward to 2 weeks ago, I found myself finally willing to try it again. I originally was only accompanying my friend who wanted their beignets, but as we were paying for the beignets, they had a sample on the counter for a dark roasted oolong, one with milk and one without. I went ahead to try it because heck, why not, it's just sitting there waiting to be tasted by someone. So I pour myself the one without milk and it was surprisingly pretty decent. So I decide to order myself one. We waited a while for our order because they forgot our beignets. I got my tea and it wasn't the same as the sample one... I asked for whatever "regular" sweetness was because I liked the sample one as is, but for some reason my drink just tasted like sugar water. Welp, I gave their drinks a fair try at this point! When we finally received our beignets, they came in many bite sized pieces in a little clear plastic togo box. Rather than hollow like normal beignets, these were doughy, pretty much like a donut hole. They were okay, nice to snack on because of its size, so even though its covered with powdered sugar, things won't get too messy since you can just pop them in your mouth. I'm not going to lie. I probably come here because I live a minute's drive away. Also, their cup is adorable. HA. Am I that superficial? *shrugs* I typically order black teas, so I've had the Earl Grey MT a few times and I've had the Assam Iced Tea. The Earl Grey here is slightly off to me. I think I'll stick to the Assam or maybe try more of their green teas. They do accept cards but you have to spend $8 minimum which I think is stupid because if I'm just ordering something for myself I have to have cash on me. They are now offering snacks and such but I've yet to try any of them. What I do like about this place is that if you're not happy with your drink, you are encouraged to let them know so they can rectify it for you. Where's my lychee at?? I always get their lychee green tea with boba & leave happy. Lately they have been decreasing the amount of lychee bits with each visit. During my most recent visit, I barely had 5 pieces!! Do you know what they told me when we complained about this? "Well, the lychee bits are free, we don't charge you so we can add as much as we want." Wth? Are you serious?? I walked out and didn't come back for awhile because I was so mad!! What saved them was an older man behind the counter. I explained what happened to him because I remember him being super nice during my previous visits. I guess the rating is pretty on point for this place although I have to say I am actually fairly impressed by their selection of unique teas. I got the genmaichai milk tea, and I guess next time I'll ask for it to be a little sweeter. He got the Blazinga milk tea and it was actually quite good. I didn't hate the pearls here either so I think overall this is a SOLID milk tea joint and I would recommend it if you're craving milk tea in general. Teasociety is located in the plaza with goodwill, Pho Y, and a lot of other small stores but there's not much else to do once you get your drinks. The vibe/decor is pretty good with a clear mustache theme and big tv screens blasting EDM, clearly appealing to the younger demographic. They let you completely customize your drink once you get to the cashier that comprises of the tea, milk, ice, toppings, & sweetness. In my opinion, its a good and bad thing in that you can have the exact drink you want but definitely slows down conversion. The end product though is where this place falls short. I ordered the recommended iced Amman milk tea, less sweet, with boba. The service is quite fast but the tea tasted exactly like the regular 99 cent milk tea served at Quickly's, but instead at $4. -_- The gf picked out the iced osmanthus milk tea with boba and the taste was not much better. Now, it could be just my experience or the drink that I ordered was off, but getting two mediocre drinks is a sign. Women Prefer Men With Heavy Stubble (it suggests maturity and manliness) I really hope a future significant other doesn't watch that video because the woman writing this is not a big fan of heavy stubble, much less a full grown stache. However, I will tolerate one printed on the side of a plastic cup containing boba and a really refreshing white grape oolong tea drink. Mmm. My friend and I were in the South Bay for the Rescue Conference in mid-October, and when it concluded, we decided to stop by Teasociety and see what landed it on a Yelp circulated list of boba places a few months ago. Here's what we got: white grape oolong tea - 3.65 boba - .45 lychee tea (comes w/ a small amount of lychee bits) - 3.75 lychee jelly - .45 powder puffs (beignets) - ? sweet potato waffle fries - ? ^ I'm sorry I didn't get prices for these, too, but the total was around $7 (I remember that only because it didn't meet the $8 minimum charge for credit cards, and I had to dig around for cash). Without having to modify the sweetness or anything, my white grape oolong tea was JUST PERFECT on that warm Saturday afternoon. The consistency of Teasociety's boba was also really good (I tend to prefer my boba on the chewier side). My friend's lychee tea, also not modified, was a bit too sweet for my liking, but still good. We had a little laugh over the snacks, though. The powder puffs probably won't hold up to anybody's standard for a beignet, but if you're looking for a small, fried puff of dough generously doused with powdered sugar, this'll hit the spot. I love waffle fries and I thought the sweet potato flavor definitely came through, though somewhat sparsely. My friend was the first to note that because these two items were fried either simultaneously, or at least in quick succession in the same oil, they seem to have traded tastes. We're good sports so it wasn't something to complain to the folks at the front counter about. Instead, we just kept laughing about the fact that the sweet potato fries had a sweet, dessert-like quality to them, while the powder puffs seemed savory. There was only one group of people at Teasociety when we walked in at around 4 PM, but it quickly filled up. I love that there are plenty of places to sit, and different types of seating (traditional chairs and tables in the middle and off to the left, but more couch-like seating with pillows off to the right). They have a number of different board games available to help you detach from your smartphone and pass the time actually engaging with the people around you. Most recently, I tried the Assam Tea Cream (black tea based). The tea tasted like roasted black tea with a slight bittersweet aftertaste. I was fairly surprised at the bittersweetness but after mixing it with the cream, it was bomb diggity. Definitely reminds me of Mountain Tea Cream where it is not as sweet and moreso bitter.
