So I'm here to update my former review of this place.. As stated previously, I've been to this restaurant numerous times and has always enjoyed my meal and ambiance of the restaurant. My former visit was not a great experience and I voiced my opinion of the service I received that evening. Well I've been to the restaurant at least twice since than and I must say they acknowledged what happened and given me and my guest nothing but the best experience possible in those two visits. Food was very good but BEWARE when ordering Orecchiette, it's not listed as a spicy dish but tastes too spicy to enjoy. I wish I had know before ordering that it is over powered by the taste of long-hot peppers. If that's your thing- enjoy!! read more

We had a company team dinner in the wine cellar; really nice atmosphere and good service. As this was a pre fixe; the served decent food (salad, 4 basic but tasty main courses and chocolate cream for dessert) . Me and my colleagues enjoyed the atmosphere and will be back for the bar/restaurant sometime. As the Newtown area does not have many acceptable options this is one of the 2-3 places to go. read more

Before Firepoint Grill opened around the corner, Teca was the most convenient place close to our place for a "nice" dinner out. When we first moved in, Teca came highly recommended by my family out in the 'burbs, so we decided to try their Newtown Square location for a special dinner after work on a Wednesday. Unlike their location in downtown West Chester, Teca NS is spacious, yet it still feels warm and intimate. As you enter, there is a large bar area that does get very full at happy hour times. I've dined/drank at Teca now several times, and my experiences have been 50/50. Half of the time, it's great. The other half, the service leaves something to be desired. Perhaps it depends on the day and who is your server. Our first visit (I wish I could remember our server's name) was great. He showed good knowledge of the menu and made good recommendations. On our second visit, our server was not even sure which dishes he was bringing to the table, and we were seated in the darkest corner of the dining room which put a damper on our evening. Happy hour is fine, and I've had a great business lunch at Teca (the arugula and shrimp salad is excellent), so it's a reliable location for a good meal, but I'm not over the moon to go back if other options are available. read more

I have never reviewed a restaurant on Yelp before but I felt the need tonight to review Teca in Newtown Square... Our service was incredibly slow and our server was very impatient and condescending we let that all go but when our dinner was served on a broken plate and we reached out to a manager we were treated very disrespectfully....when we ask to speak to an owner another manager treated us very poorly and told us he didn't care if we ever came back to his restaurant again... Believe me there are plenty of other better restaurants in the area.... The food was fair... nothing great but the service was terrible.... read more

- - - Unacceptable and Shocking Experience - - - We came here on Saturday night with my family and we were upset that we were seated in a corner next to a storage station where no table should be. The staff kept bumping into our table and my body, therefore I kindly asked to move to another table. We were then escorted to another table which we were satisfied with. However, the owner storms to the table and tell us the table is reserved and implied we need to leave. I was in shock at that point and asked him "do you really want us to leave?" and his response was "yes". As a military veteran who has served for this country, I felt that I was discriminated against by him. We were very upset and disrespected that we were refused service at this establishment. I should have read all of the Yelp reviews before coming to this place because we wasted our time to be insulted. Lastly, when Valet got my car, they left the car running unattended in the parking lot and never informed us that the car was there. I came here last week with my boyfriend jeffrey, and to preface let me just say that our standards (jeff and I) when it comes to food aren't super high. I also want to emphasize that italian food is my favorite food and jeff's as well. When I say this garbage they call food is overpriced, i should get the understatement of the year award. the chicken tastes like rubber, the fish tastes like cardboard, and the pasta tasted like my cat's litterbox. Cannot say enough good things about this place! We visited on Christmas Eve and we had such a great experience. The food was amazing. The drinks were insanely prompt, thanks to the GM behind the bar that was killing it on service bar. The food runner was so courteous, the managers were all over the place in such an impressive way. Our server was very sweet and attentive. It was amazing to watch a busy restaurant flow the way they did on such a busy night. It definitely made it an evening to remember. This place is a joke... All for show. Hostess was legitimately angry that she had to seat us. Pretty sure that's the extent of her job though... She basically sprinted to the table- to the point we weren't sure where she was. She put the menus down and walked away... No "enjoy" or "your server will be right with you." It wasn't busy. You're a hostess. Let's not get too excited. Smiling may help. Your job shouldn't be too stressful. You write names and walk. The waitress was in constant "up-sell" mode. My wife ordered wine by the glass, and the waitress said, "I'll pick out a medium-priced one for you." Not a huge deal, but we were now evaluating all social aspects of this place, and looked at the pricing to see what she would pick... She picked the most expensive, which was not shocking since her main objective was clear- get the check as high as possible. We ordered salads, and she said, "and what are you having for appetizers?" When we didn't want apps, she acted like she was shocked. Shouldn't be that strange of a concept... She also looked disgusted with us when we didn't order dessert. The check couldn't have come faster after declining dessert. She then basically waited about two feet away while I signed the check. The greediness was a turn-off. Just be pleasant, and I'll happily over tip you. Food was good, which is the only reason I gave this two stars instead of one... Overpriced, but good. As a nice topper, we were leaving and a 60 year-old lady was puking out of her car right in front of the entrance where the valet is... It may be the most unnecessary valet. Ever. Plenty of parking... and we walked further from the delightful hostess's stand to our seats than we did from our car to the entrance. read more

I live very close to Teca and went in with high expectations. There have been a lot of restaurants moving in and out of this location but Teca is definitely here to stay. The atmosphere is great with a open bar with a pizza oven and a separated dining area. The staff was professional and polite as well as the greeters and valet. For food, we ordered the grilled calamari and the salmon. The salmon was good but the grilled calamari stole the show. The only reason Teca is not receiving 5 stars is because the food was tasty but not out of this world. I would definitely recommend it to others despite this fact. read more

I went to Teca few months ago when they first opened and was not impressed But tonight they blow me away!!! First the hostess knew that I came few month ago and was not impressed!!! They had it in their computer!! The manager introduced himself and was honestly interested in our opinion and feedback We had the burata and prosciutto special, the best I ever had, then the pizza and steak were just perfect! Better - much better - but still very heavy-handed with the Olive oil on nearly every dish. The burrata of the day ($16 was truly outstanding - served with paper thin slices of speck and roasted peppers and beets (purple and gold). Gorgeous and delicious. The table-side filleted whole branzino (enough for 2 to share at $36) was perfectly cooked and served with roasted veggies (terrific) and potatoes. A side of broccoli-rabe was textbook - but again - drowning in garlic and olive oil. Service was perfection. Decor is beautiful. Love this place. read more

First time here- the site has been several restaurants including Alberto's and Newtown grill.. Well, this is the best it's ever been! I had the lamb shanks and side of escarole w beans- I'm usually a fish and salad person, but splurged ! Worth it! Falling off bones delicious - Wonderful ambiance - terrific wine cellar - a fantastic experience particularly for locals not wanting to venture too far in bad weather! I am writing a review about Teca Newtown Square due to how they handled my complaints after my daughters baptism reception last Sunday. I have been to Teca for many events and never knew this is how they handle business. I spoke to two managers regarding the Buffet and guest count. I was sure under 50 would be attending the reception and about 10 days before I had a total of 32 guests and 8 children that RSVP. The reception was from 3:30p to 6:30p and I was told that all guests can start arriving at 3:15p. Everyone got there in time and I showed up around 4p. The total guests that arrived that day was 23 adults and 6 children, and I understand my contract was for 32 adults in which I had to pay for the extra food I agreed on. No issue there and No complaints about the Hors d'oeuvres. I was told they were great. The floor manager asked if they can start the buffet at 4:15p, I agreed. The food was not out until 4:40p, which one of my guests had to leave and was unable to eat, leaving hungry. At 5:05p the servers started clearing all of the guests food off of there tables not even asking anyone or myself if they were finished. One of my guests told the server numerous times that she is not finished eating. When I came back to my table my full beer was gone and all tables were cleared, including people's desserts that I brought and paid for. At that moment I was so busy hosting my guests I didn't realize how early it was and that they only gave us 20-25 mins to eat. Around 5:30p, per restaurant manager, the buffet was taken down, again not asking me or anyone else if they would like to go up for more servings. All that extra food that was available for people to eat was taken and thrown away. I only had beer and wine for my guests and I believe there were no more than 8 drinks that went out that evening. Everyone thought the party was over at that point (5:30p), although I had the place until 6:30p. The kids had two options of either buttered pasta or chicken fingers. I was charged for 8 children but I caught the mistake and they corrected it to 6 children. My bill came to $3,568 dollars including tip. To add in the buffet menu, I had salad, bread, mixed vegetables, pasta, chicken and salmon. In which the salmon was dry and over cooked. After the event about 15 of my guests came over to my house to Celebrate and they all had a complaint and how rushed they felt. Basically like they were kicking us out of the restaurant. After $3,568, we were all still hungry and had to order food once we got to my house. I called two days later since mondays are closed. It took over a week for them to just call and tell me next time I have an event there they will make sure we don't feel rushed and the service will be better. They did not even offer anything in return. I am disappointed and will never go there again for any future events. I do not recommend. read more

Attended a bridal shower at Teca on Sunday. The room was nice and new, if a little bare. I liked that the bar was on the far end end of the space. The upstairs was beautifully done though. I'd read unfavorable reviews of the previous restaurants that had been located there, but I was pleasantly surprised by the food. The bruschetta that servers circulated was delicious. The servers also circulated pizza, which guests said was also good, but very difficult to eat while holding drinks and mingling. I don't think that's the best choice for circulating appetizers during a cocktail type hour. The fruit and cheese plate was nice. The roasted rosemary chicken was delicious, and everybody was raving about that. The Caesar salad was overdressed, and I skipped the gnocchi, though people said it was good. The servers were all really friendly and accommodating, with the exception of the hostess upstairs, who was pretty disinterested in helping anyone out, until a manager walked past the front area. Had another great dinner at teca last night. We sat out on the newly opened deck, which is really nice. They had heaters on so the temperature was perfect, and our waitress was friendly and very attentive. I've been to teca many times. The burrata is always good, salads are good, pizzas are great, and they have a nice wine list. Last night I tried the burger and fries, and teca didn't dissapoint! read more

Service a 2!!! We were rushed.... Not just rushed----pushy!!! Food a 4.5!!! Phenomenal! We told the waitress we wanted to enjoy our cocktails and appetizers before we ordered our entrees. We were denied! Same thing happened with dessert and coffee! She would not allow us to order appetizers without an entree order at the same time. Our food came out almost simultaneously! However, the food was phenomenal! Because the food was so perfect, we will be returning for another visit. They really did a nice job with the decor . We liked the bar and on a Friday night there was actually dancing. But it was loud in the dining area adjacent to the bar as you might expect. Read reviews on Yelp and was worried. Could not have been more wrong. Very happy with food. There are a lot of italian places on mainline. Teca stands out. Really innovative food. Had the Frita Mista to start and the short rib - both Awesome. Wine choices were great - lives up to its name of a wine bar with a great selection . Sons had steaks which were done perfect. Wife had Branzino - also great. They completely updated decor and have - with good use of space. (Bar, Tables, Pizza Bar...) All in all a GREAT addition to the Main Line restaurant lineup. read more

Well, I had heard nothing but good things about Teca in the past. So My wife and I were happy that we decided to give them our business for our son's wedding shower. Our meeting with the manager to plan our party was a pleasant surprise. He seemed genuinely interested in making our big day a special event. Planning went well until the day of the event. This is when it all fell apart. It all started wrong when our entertainment was turned away and was told they did not have our party listed. This not only happened to our guy but to several of our guest as well. For $34 a head we decided not to have a typical dinner menu and to create a butler atmosphere with a table of appetizers - cheese, vegetables, meats, butler boards (4) total with 25 pieces per board, then pizza & stromboli hot table. We had to plan for and pay for a 35 party as a minimum which we met and enjoyed their company. We planned to have gluten free & vegen pizza - which we had to order and remind the team. After letting the manager know we were informed that they do not have gluten free stuff - but was planned for at our orginal meeting. Instead of enjoying our day and looking forward to not having to control the party, we had to focus on communicating throughout the time which was overloading and left us very stressed as our guest did not receive enough food that was paid for and planned. The only good part of our day was were the 2 young ladies working the party. They were very professional and helpful as the business put them at a disadvantage for not having a better controlled party planning and execution from the manager on duty. Now, if you think after all of this Teca worked with us and did everything they could do to make us feel special and correct some of their missteps, you would be 1/3 correct. After repeated emails, phone calls, and messages we did get a call back with an almost insulting resolution to our complaints. To finish up our review- if you are looking for someone to take an interest in your day and control your party so you can enjoy you guest I would not recommend Teca. read more

My daughter' s wedding was scheduled for December 12 at an indoor restaurant. Unfortunately on December 11, all indoor dining shut down . I reached out to Teca, knowing they had an outdoor area , hoping they had Saturday afternoon available . Kurt reached out to me within an hour and 24 hours later we had the entire event planned . I can say enough great things about Kurt and the employees at Teca who went above and beyond for my daughter and her fiancé. Everything from the setup , to the ceremony, and the venue was beyond our expectations. The food was amazing and everyone raved about the venue . Thank you for all you did for us !!! read more

Second visit in 3 weeks. Last time a brick oven pizza, this time the fried pork chop. Everything was very good, the bread with sun-dried tomato pesto pre-meal was nice. Same server, Julian, both times and he def. made both visits enjoyable. Attentive, funny without being intrusive, knowledgeable, good suggestions. Two complaints, $9 for a light wine pour, $9 for a salad of half a bag of spring mix, a few halved cherry tomatoes and a few kalamata olives. Throw in a cuke or carrot, would ya?Loud on a Saturday at 730p but we're young enough that doesn't bother us (yet). Will be back for sure. read more

i had a baby shower here. the food and service was very good. very pleased and everyone had a great time until the end. the only thing that ruined the event is once the time was up the staff literally started cleaning tables moving everyone's stuff walking into my guests trying to clear and set up tables. it could have been more organized and done in a polite manner. it is like u have a party at u house and u host pushes u out the door. there was not another event we were told they were setting up for dinner reservations and it was only 3 pm. because of that I will not have another event there. if u plan on having something there u better make it clear u don't want u and your guests pushed out the room rudely read more

So We went to the Disco Party for New Years Eve. $115 a person, plus tax, and added on gratuities. Was supposed to have full buffet and open bar. Open bar consisted in low end alcohol, the bar was limited in drinks, which resulted in use have to buy drinks at the bar. Buffet was horrible, tasted like reused meals from other customers. Music was so bad, and ambiance was terrible. What a waste of $400 dollars. Went home before 12 and celebrated at home. read more

I've seen a lot of so-so reviews about this place, but honestly, it's the best restaurant in the area. The service was friendly and prompt, and the drinks at the bar were reasonably priced. One of the owners has a vineyard in Tuscany, and many of the wines are imported directly from the vineyard to the restaurant. The food was amazing. We sat at the pizza bar and ordered a Neapolitan pizza with slow-cooked chicken, basil, and pine nuts. It was expertly hand-crafted by an insanely attractive sous chef, who engaged us with pleasant conversation while we enjoyed the atmosphere. I ordered a cod special for my entree, which was perfectly cooked. My friend ordered the bucantini with clams and chorizo. She said she was coming back for it. Went here for brunch at 10:30am and it was empty!! I was actually shocked because it was a beautiful restaurant and had excellent service. I had the Eggs Benedict and it was divine! the crowds started coming around 11:30. There were also two private parties (one upstairs and one downstairs) for a bridal shower and a baby shower. Very refreshing to be able to eat out again, and feel such at ease and comfort going into the restaurant. We went last week, and They labeled and spaced out everything properly, and made it so easy using a digital menu! Our server Nico was so sweet and helpful, and even brought out a lemon Parmesan risotto that's normally not on the menu (but absolutely DELICIOUS)! Food was served in a timely manor, outstanding as always, and they never made you feel rushed with over serving multiple courses. They had a nice summer specialty drink list of craft cocktails that were amazing and even kept some traditional favorites with fun names (who doesn't love an espresso martini after diner?). The vodka lemonade was a hit with us- served in a mason jar for a southern touch, everything was mixed perfectly and the muddled strawberries and basil were the right combo! The drinks came out so quickly and went down just as fast! I could have stayed there drinking those for a few more hours! Had a reservation for 7 pm on a Friday Evening. Did not get seated until after 8 pm. Did enjoy the food or else review would be one star. I understand businesses get crowded and things happen. The most frustrating part of this was the complete lack of communication from management. Not 1 time did they stop over and check on us. Our waiter was an excellent guy who just moved back from Hawaii.(forget his name). Teca please do not take this out on him. Your management team has a problem with communication and customer service.
