Here's the Nitty Gritty on Tech Air, if you don't want to be treated like a novice in a used car lot----Collin is your man. You just don't get that Old Fashioned service from the other big guys. Their goal seems to be on how much to charge you. Understandably, they have huge overheads and many workers to keep busy. And that is not a guarantee on quality work as they seem over scheduled and want to push the brand of furnace they carry. I was referred to them by Home Depot for a Home Depot stocked furnace and then they try to sell you another brand, not highly recommended by Consumers Report, that they carry. Some Mumbo Jumbo on they're all , more or less, the same..... It just depends on the correct installation. Collin, on the other hand, acquired and installed the top of the line furnace I wanted at a very fair price. No ifs and buts about it. With Collin, he makes you feel like you are an equal and he listens to your concerns and answers them on a personal level.....as if it was his home. You can't beat that. Colin and his team were amazing to work with. We first had Colin over to get us a quote, and it came in more than competitive with the other contractors. Given he's a certified Mitsubishi installer, I felt I was getting a great price, warranty, and equipment. Installation date was set, and my old existing furnace started getting worse, banging and clunking -- he was so kind to offer to help me diagnose the issue and even offered to help me keep it running at no extra cost until the new system was available to install. The installers were very professional, they kept the areas immaculate where they worked, were very polite, and were happy to work with me to get me what I wanted, vs doing the easy quick way on many occasions. I ended up with a five cassette heat pump system, and am very happy with it. When I needed some fine tuning on operation for it, Colin didn't hesitate to come back and the tweaks for me. Honest, Responsive, and Thorough. Colin at Tech Air really helped us in a difficult time. Our furnace went out over the weekend. I called Colin first thing in the morning on Monday, thanks to several recommendations on NextDoor. Colin came out to access our furnace issue that same day. He advised me that we could repair the circuit board or replace our 23 year old furnace as it was on its last legs. Choosing to replace our furnace, he was able to secure and install our new furnace the next day with Hannibal, who was also fantastic to work with. He and Hannibal even let us know that the wholesaler (2 hours round trip) gave us a dinged up furnace and returned to the wholesaler to exchange it that same day. Our new furnace is working well, and we are pleased with the 10 year warranty for the furnace and 5 year warranty for Colin and Hannibal's workmanship. read more

Our heater stopped working one night and we woke up in a frigid house. Our thermostat reported an error, so I followed the online troubleshooting steps and even watched some videos online to try and solve it myself. After wasting at least a few hours over two days, I called a handful of local providers but Colin was the only person who picked up the phone. I described the issue and he offered to come by the house that same day. He arrived as promised within in a few hours, and solved the problem after only 15 minutes. He went above and beyond by quickly checking the filters on our vents and suggested that I change them every couple of months. These Yelp reviews don't lie - Colin at Tech Air is the only one to call for HVAC work. A couple of months ago, our heater wasn't working and our house was freezing. Called another company first, who 1) couldn't figure out what was going on, and then 2) recommended we do full duct work to see if that would fix it. What?? As soon as Colin came in, he diagnosed it super quickly and had our heater back up and running. No duct work needed. And he was super transparent and fair about pricing. Tech Air did a great job with our 4 zone mini-split system install! Colin responded very quickly to all of my inquiries and gave me the most competitive quote of the 5 installers I talked to. JC and Rudy did excellent work on the install and did a great job minimizing the appearance of the lines. They were friendly and kept up good communication throughout the install. When we contacted Colin about buzzing coming from one of the units after the install JC and Rudy came out the same day and replaced a defective pump with a new one which fixed the issue. Fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. I noticed the smoke had come from the furnace. Shut it off and in the morning called Tech Air. Colin came by and was quick to determine the circuit board had burned out. Given that the furnace was 22 years old, I decided to replace it. Colin was able to provide a new furnace the very next day at a fair price. He and his coworker are both incredibly kind. They came over right when they said they would, kept the place very clean and had the new furnace installed and running in just a few hours. Highly recommend. read more

Don't go with anybody else. A San Rafael HVAC company originally installed our high-efficiency furnace five years ago. It recently stopped working. I requested a service call; they came several days later and misdiagnosed the problem. I called them back and they said they could not come for two weeks. Enough is enough. He was at our house within a half hour, diagnosed the problem and repaired the furnace (replaced hot surface igniter) in short order. This is the first review I have ever written a review for anyone. Colin Hallatt of Tech Air had scheduled an appointment to come to my house and replace AC filters. I had mistakenly scheduled the appointment for a Tuesday when it was in fact scheduled for Thursday. I called Colin on that Tuesday to see where he was. He explained that he had it on his calendar for Thursday, not Tuesday and that he would nevertheless come over to my place at the end of his day to do the work, which he did.
