I used tech one automotive a while back to fix an issue with my motor, and I was very unimpressed with their quality of work and customer service. Something else I found interesting was their post activity on their FB page. This business celebrates everything from "National Anthem Day" to "Parents Day." However, when it comes to various widely known and celebrated days of diversity and inclusion, there's nothing other than a single "Cinco De Mayo" post. I think it's disconcerting for a business to actively go out of its way to minimize diversity and inclusion, and this may be the answer to why my experience was so negative. They're also offering people discounted services in exchange for five-star reviews, which I believe is very dishonest of the business and possibly a violation of Yelps TOS. I took my car here due to some starting issues I had since late last year. I had taken it to another place that checked out the car including testing the battery, alternator and starter. They told me everything was fine and charged me $30. Ultimately, the car's starting issues returned. When I had a chance, I took my car to these guys. They double-checked everything and found out a dead cell in the battery could cause it to test as being okay but prevent it from being charged. I've been taking my Mazda 2 to Tech One for the past couple of years for oil changes and inspections. This summer I finally had a real repair to get done, and went there again. As usual, the people there were super-nice and helpful, and I really like the fact that they offer you free rides to and from their shop while your car's there! Because of post-Covid supply chain issues, there was a bit of a delay getting some hoses ordered from out of state (and country!), but they kept me informed the whole time and all was resolved to my satisfaction. Brought my 96 mustang cobra here and after I told him what car I had, his response was "I have one guy I trust to work on that hold on let me see how busy he is" that was a sigh of relief immediately. It told me he knew it wasn't your average v8 and it's tricky and he wasn't just giving it to anyone just to make some money. I really respected that. Autozone gave me an incorrect fuel pump and that turned out to be my issue ‍‍ mad because I could do this easy job myself (with correct parts) but they saved me because I have a huge LMR mustang event to go to just days away and I was in a panic lol. He had the correct part overnighted and installed the very next day. Not to mention they order you an Uber if you don't have a ride. I thought that was pretty cool. Really nice waiting room as well. Come to find out they discovered that my ECU was the culprit. After a fews days of waiting, due to the part had to be ordered, I came it and the car was ready and running like a top. I learned about this place from my BF. His dad recommended this place saying they seemed trustworthy. I've brought my car here a few times. Prices seemed a bit on the higher side compared to Google searches, but I was willing to pay the extra amounts since I'd rather pay more for services I need than get scammed at other mechanics. Yesterday, I brought my car in to fix the driver's side lock. The total cost was $400. When I brought the car home and tried to lock the door, it would not lock. The key would go in (it didn't before) but the locking mechanism seemed like it wasn't attached. While this isn't a life or death situation, $400 and a day without my car is a steep price to pay. I would have expected the mechanics to take two seconds to make sure the problem was solved. It is under warranty, but taking a car in is a huge hassle. Also, overlooking a simple check is a huge red flag: what if they miss checks on more important fixes? I've lost trust in this place and will not be returning. read more

Hands down one of, if not the, best repair shops I've dealt with. My daughter is a student at UT Austin and is over 2000 miles from home. We had issues with her Explorer prior to her going to Austin the local dealer couldn't figure out. I did some research and decided based on reviews to try Tech One to see if they could figure it out. From the get-go, they were courteous, professional, and reasonably priced. The specific issue we had was a true gremlin, but Trent, Danny, and techs all kept after it trying to resolve. Along the way, I also had them perform other services which were done timely and reasonably costed. After several attempts and following all codes to the sources, Danny advised we probably needed to go back to Ford...I have to say this impressed me tremendously as he was showing they truly cared and wanted this resolved for us. Local Ford dealer took two attempts to resolve, but finally did. Weeks later a new problem arose that sent us back to Ford. An aftermarket part Tech One had replaced had failed. Tech One immediately went into action, having the Explorer towed from the Ford shop to theirs, covering the Ford diagnostic fee, replacing the part under warranty, performing another service I requested, and even performed an oil change...all under warranty! Since this, the AC went out and Tech One took care of that for us as well...timely and at reasonable cost. I can't say enough good things about Tech One. I feel confident in their work, especially being so far away and having to deal with these problems from OR. This place was the second place I took my car to, after the first place messed up twice and didn't fix the problem. After my experience with the first place, this one answered all my questions and addressed my reservations on making promises to get to the bottom of the problem. After explaining the issues with the first place, this one advised nothing was thoroughly checked with the first place and they made assurances they would take time to look and check everything. They were extremely nice and assured the problem was finally fixed. I brought my car to them almost 3 weeks ago now and the a/c is still working like it should, blowing cold air. I've been bringing my car here for its yearly inspection/maintenance for a while and they've always been great, but this last visit was outstanding! I have some family at risk for Covid-19 complications so every outing is super stressful. Tech One goes ABOVE AND BEYOND. They wear masks, gloves, put paper on the floor of the car and plastic on the seat before working on it, and disinfect the vehicle before returning it. They even have a lock box and waiting area outside, and allow for payment over the phone. This may not seem like a big deal to many, but for me and my family it makes a world of a difference. They are also fast and great at what they do. This is the absolute best place in ATX to bring your car. 10/10 could not recommend more! read more

I bought my car in to replace both of my headlights. I had gone to another place first but they didn't have time to replace them so I came to Tech One and I am glad I did! They quickly gave me an estimate for the cost and time it would take to replace the headlights and it was very fairly priced and quickly completed. They also checked the notice lights on my dash and explained what those were, how much each thing would cost to complete and which things were most urgent, but there was no pressure to do these things then and there. I've brought my car here a few times and I am always impressed with the quality of service, the friendliness of the staff, and the value. Most recently, I had glass in the side of a tire and figured it would need to be replaced. I even noted in my online booking that I needed a new tire. Imagine my surprise when they called me and said they were able to patch it! They could have sold me a tire (or tires) and I wouldn't have thought anything of it. They are so very honest! The service is quick, too. All three times I've visited them, my car was ready the same day, and Danny (the owner?) followed up by phone/text to make sure everything was working. Never again. Tech One is my fave forever and ever. I called and made an appointment easily for an oil change and an inspection. Their waiting area is clean and spacious with two comfortable couches, a soda machine, a television, free wifi, a table with coloring books & colors for kiddos and outlets. They've got all the stuff covered that I normally look for. Even the bathroom has nice TP. TMI? Never. The spot is owned by two brothers and has been for 15 years. David was my primary contact and he was really kind. The cost for an inspection and a synthetic oil change was $93. Pretty average cost with above average service. Where do I even begin to tell the tales of the above and beyond stellar service at this place?! I moved to Austin 7 months ago and I was leery that I'd find an auto shop as great as the place I left behind in Minneapolis. Lucky me, Tech 1 is just up the road from where we moved and their great yelp reviews lead me to give them my business. After driving 2 cars (an '08 Prius and a '99 Lumina) cross country oil changes were soon needed and that's where my journey began with Tech 1. I'm always greeted by the friendly folks at the front desk, never feel rushed or like I'm an inconvenience. The customer service makes you feel like you have friends and family taking care of you and looking out for your best interests. No over charging or pushing unnecessary repairs/products; just to the point and honest. They let me know if there's issues that may need to be addressed in the near future, the cost and answer any questions I have with patience and sincerity. Also, the waiting room is very comfortable and stocked with coffee, water and I believe at least one vending machine. Here's where they really knocked my socks off to the moon. After getting a flat tire about 2 miles away from Tech 1, failing to change the tire myself and dealing with over priced roadside assistance, I called Tech 1. I had no idea if they could help me out but it never hurts to ask. Oh did they ever help! Within 15 minutes they sent the wonderful Arturo over to change my tire on a swampy gross day. He took my tire off, to the shop to repair where a nail punctured my tire, came back and put it back on. Smiling and pleasant as ever the whole time. When I asked what I owed their response was "Oh no we're not charging you for that." My jaw must have hit the floor because I still can't believe they did all that for me free of charge!!! The next week my old car wouldn't turn over. Went back and they ran the diagnostics to find that my starter had died. It was time for me to say good bye to the old Lumina and donate her to a better place. I was only charged for the tow to the shop (which insurance reimburses me for) and they were so kind to let me leave my dead car at the shop for charity to pick it up another day. If I wrote out every interaction I've had with the crew at this shop it'd be a mini novel on excellent customer service as well as talented mechanics. Always professional, organized, honest, friendly, easy to get in & out, knowledgable, reasonably priced... Give this place a try and you'll never go to another shop! read more

I've been loyal to this shop for years now. They're super honest and straightforward. Definitely what you're looking for in a mechanic.

I would trust these guys over just about any other shop in town. They charge me a very fair rate on doing my oil change when I provide the oil and filter, which is kind of rare, most people want to add to the labor cost to make up for what you're not paying them in upcharges on the oil and filter. These guys only charge me around $17. In the past, they also repaired the AC compressor on my old Saturn by simply replacing the O-rings on the compressor for around $100. That was 3 years ago. It was non-functional before they repaired it. It has blown cold ever since. Most car repair shops that I have dealt with in the past would not have done this. Instead, they would have gone straight to trying to replace the entire compressor, because that's where they make their money. If nothing else, the guys at Tech One are very honest. If my car broke down tonight and I needed to get it towed somewhere to be fixed ASAP, this is where I would send it. Unfortunately, if I had some time, this is not where I would go. That's because, when comparing prices, Tech One is sometimes not competitive. In a few cases, where I've called around and gotten quotes on a job, they were quite a bit more expensive than some other shops. I'm not saying they're not fair. I'm saying that you pay for the quick turnaround, and I can't always afford it. If money wasn't so much a constant issue with myself and my family, I would always use Tech One. Then again, I have the luxury of knowing a bit about cars. I'm hard to swindle, and I generally know exactly what any repair entails, or at least have the knowledge to know what to look up. I called (7:50am) about a problem with what I thought was my alternator, but wasn't. I was told they could take me that day & to drop the car off for a diagnostic test. I dropped the car off @ 8:45am. I called for an update at 11:12am, 1:25pm, 2:35pm. On the 2:35pm call, I was told they were just now pulling my car in to check it. Only took 6 hrs. I got off work @ 3:30pm & headed straight there & arrived around 3:40pm. I asked Brian @ the counter about my car & he said he would find out. Then I received a call at 3:44pm from the tech on my car with an update. He obviously didn't know I was there. I told him on the phone that I was there, then hung up to talk in person. I approved the battery around 4pm. I saw the mechanic pull my car out & park it around 4:35pm. I waited for my name to be called, and I waited, and waited. I finally went to the counter around 4:45pm & asked if I could have my car, its parked right there. He went to get my paper work & came back for me to make the payment. Came to Tech One to have them check my tie rods and lower control arms. Turns out the Mazda dealership was recommending something I didn't need, but did need my front brake pads replaced. Dropped off the car early with Andrew. He set me up with a free Uber back to my place and I got the car back the same day. A couple days later I heard something grinding and called back to voice my concern. Tech One sent a mechanic, Alex, to my place of work to pick up my car and check it out. Seems the shield behind the rotor was slightly bent and making contact. Alex fixed it and returned my car back to my work within 2 hours, no charge. You don't find these type of businesses anymore. Truly amazing service. We bring my husband's car in for oils changes and service checks. I was taking my car to the dealer but just switched over. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and helpful. It's not always the least expensive quote, but I never feel as though they're trying to take advantage of us and the work is always quality.
