I love Teddy's - everything here is good. This place has one of the only Italian Beefs that I think even come close to Portillo's and in the summer the Italian Ice can't be beat. However, I do think that it is overpriced. Other area hot dog stands are much cheaper. Not to mention that everything is ala carte here and you will pay extra for just about everything (peppers, cheese, etc). But when you really want a good Italian Beef or a good hot dog, Teddy's is going to beat anyone else in the area in flavor. read more

Came here with my 20 month old. He's pretty energetic so I wasn't reading the menu so I just asked if they have a hot dog special with drinks and fries. The guy says two hot dogs. Dogs and Beef are great. They make it quick and they make it right. While there are many places around to get the same fare (Maxwells, Portillos, etc.) what really makes Teddy's stand out for me is their Italian ice. You can tell its homemade, its got real chunks of fruit in it, and it is the best I've ever had. I've never been a fan of their burgers, but they have enough items to keep me satisfied. read more

The food here is top notch. The facilities are very clean. The staff is friendly. You cannot ask for more. The food is very, very good in my opinion. I especially enjoyed the Italian Ice. Independent businesses like this need to be supported. Believe me you do not want our neighborhood to be taken over by large franchises and chain restaurants, While they have their price wars the quality of the food continues to get worse at the big chains. Stick with the smaller guys that offer quality over price. I will continue to support businesses like this. I hope this place can stay open for another 30 years! The food was overpriced and disgusting. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place and we both regretted it. I had a beef sandwich that was flavorless and soaked in grease. It was by far the worst Italian beef sandwich I've ever had. My boyfriend had the Philly Steak and had similar complaints. His sandwich was extremely dry with very little meat. The prices are extremely high. For two meals and two drinks we spent $30. Additionally, the service was very poor. Please save your money! read more

I just went here for the first time about 2 weeks ago and have returned twice since then. I've been to the other Teddy's in Darien, which is very good as well, but I was way more impressed at this Teddy's. The service is friendly and excellent. The pretzel buns are delicious. And the homemade soup is so good. The first time I went there they had beef vegetable soup and I decided to pass because I'm not a huge fan of beef soup. But they gave me and my girlfriend a sample and it was so good that I had to get some. The fresh ingredients make a difference. Had the Chicken and rice soup yesterday and I was very satisfied. Just ate here for the first time and will absolutely NOT be back. The person at the cashier was rude, and the prices are absolutely outrageous. I wouldnt have minded the price so much if the food was good, but it wasnt. I got a chicken sandwich and it was burned and tasted like it was cooked on a dirty grill. The fries tasted like they were cooked in oil that had not ever been changed, and the beef sandwich that my boyfriend ordered was terrible. The french bread was hard as a rock and the mozz cheese (that we had to pay .59 extra for) wasnt melted. Have gone there for years, never thought to write a review before. Teddy's has long been our 'standard' to compare against for Italian Beef (they have it for catering, too). Today I bought the beef/sausage combo and the sausage was actually better than the beef, which was surprising but in a delightful way. I haven't been there recently (several months) but noticed when I came in they take Groupon (limited to 1 per visit but still). I had not thought small businesses would make use of it, but it is fantastic that they do. :) They remodeled fairly recently (the last photo shows some of it), the new decor is a significant improvement over the original.
