This has become my Sunday morning brunch spot. The food service is quick, albeit the wait staff is inconsistent. If you get Anthony, expect top notch service - he is attentive, always there with a smile and will come back tot he table to thank you for the tip - Like who is his mom and does she offer parenting classes? I have a group of friends who, when we get together in this area, like to meet at Ted's for breakfast or brunch, and this review is based on a couple of visits there for just that. The menu is a combination of traditional items kicked up a notch with a bit of eclectic and fun added in. And I believe the phrase "boozy milkshakes" was repeated numerous times. Among us, I got to see and sometimes taste a wide variety of these entrees. Mine included the pancakes with strawberry tart pieces mixed into the batter (delicious, but HEAVY), and the breakfast burrito with "even more chorizo!" The coffee here is very good and also plentiful. Service was excellent and friendly for both visits. It's like they're trying to subliminally say, "We want to be your only local breakfast spot." Located in the beautiful Reston town center. Easy to find and abundant parking available in the area. They do take reservations so if it's not available online on the app, call them. More chances of finding tables and reserving it that way. They do accommodate walk-ins. Ambiance is nice, wooden seats are but hard, tables heights is decent and atmosphere is not too loud. Great view of the kitchen for majority of the tables. Bar seating is available for those interested. Food is decent. Overall it will leave you satisfied. Menu has a lot of items to select from. You're spoilt for choices. In as many visits, I have tried all the burgers from the menu but nothing that will blow me away but service and friendly staff will definitely will. You can distinguish subtle differences in different items. A good experience overall, I will go back again to try different items on the menu and update the review. read more

Check the other pictures of pot roast and decide for yourself. Unfortunately I think overall this location is overpriced for what was served. My prior visit there were also issues with our lunch including; extremely overcooked wings and grilled cheese where the cheese was barely melted. Came in for brunch. The food is fantastic. The ambiance is enjoyable. The service was average. To begin, we loved our waiter. He was very kind and always made sure that we had everything we needed. The reason I say the service was average is because he was all over the place. It was horribly understaffed. I felt bad. Be prepared to potentially have to take a little extra time because there is simply not enough staff to manage the volume. Having to wait a little extra? No worries at all because the restaurant is a fun environment. It has a rustic feel and was playing classic movies on one of the big screens in the main dining area. Seats were comfortable and distancing was in full force. It is a great place to sit back and relax. Now what you all have been feverishly waiting for: the food. Everything was delicious. Personally, I got the T.U.B.S. (Ted's Ultimate Breakfast Sammy). This phenomenal sandwich featuring eggs, bacon and cheese on perfectly griddled toast and a side of hash browns was the perfect order for someone that wants a hearty breakfast. It featured a perfect blend of flavor. I also added a side of tillamook cheddar grits. Whatever you order, ADD THIS AS A SIDE. They are a must try as they are a bowl of creamy goodness. My table also got the Ted's Tart Pancakes. While good (they are basically pop tart pancakes), they were a little sweet in my book. Being Sunday morning, I ordered a mimosa. I went for my birthday after work and have been hearing good things about the milkshakes ever since I was in high school. The inside of Ted's is nice and I ordered the pasta my coworker always gets. I found the dish to be underwhelming though it wasn't necessarily bad. The waiter wasn't the best, but he struck me as new so nbd. I asked him about the Ted's Tarts and he seemed confused. This is hands down one of the best brunch spots in NOVA; probably third on my list. I am giving four stars because the service is so hot and miss... sometimes it takes them 10 minutes to even come to the table and same to get your check at the end, sometimes the servers don't come back to check in after the runner brings your food, and so on. If their service was consistent I would give five stars. I've dined here probably a dozen times and only had a problem with my food once. Last time I went the eggs on my Benedict were not poached right. They were super hard and rubbery. (which, c'mon if you can't poach an egg get the f- out of a restaurant kitchen!). I stopped into Teds for a Sunday Brunch and was met with great service and surprisingly, a lack of wait for a table. The weather was perfect and the tables were set up to be socially distanced. We got a table near the bar next to the window. Everything felt safe and everyone wore masks. I decided to go against societal Sunday traditions and take a leap of faith to branch out and try the Chicken Parmesan at a non-Italian restaurant. Man, what a hidden gem I found. First, you're met with a garden side salad, I'd recommend the avocado vinaigrette for anyone willing to try something new. I wasn't given the option and it tastes just as good as it sounds. Someone get me that recipe! Next, what you get is a hand breaded chicken cutlet fried to perfection, mixed with a sweet tasting marinara, mozzarella and topped with basil shavings. I wasn't expecting such a great tasting sauce, seriously, I will go back to get this again and order extra sauce. You're also served with a massive portion of fettuccine noodles which is way more exciting than your typical noodle number nine, also more filling. I could only finish half of this and I took the rest home for a snack. The garlic bread served with it is a perfect size and presents the eater with the opportunity to use the two slices along with the fettuccine and chicken to make an exquisite concoction of an Italian fettucchicksean sandwich. I can't take credit for this, I have my son to thank for creating such a fascinating and combination. One of my favorite things about Teds is the setup. The inside is styled with a retro feel and offers patrons the bar style seating setup indicative of the diners lost to American history. In the past I've had Ted Tarts and the Steak Frites. One is a great tasting sweet snack and the other is a delicious entree I'd recommend to anyone. read more

I LOVED Ted's Bulletin. From the food​ to the service and the ambiance, everything was great. I'm so thankful to our waiter Samir and the manager, Ray, who were both incredibly kind and attentive. I had the Steak Frites, which included a 10 oz strip steak, house cut fries and a side salad. I was starving and it hit the spot, it was a ton of food! The salad came with a choice of dressing - I was skeptical about the creamy Vidalia​ bacon dressing but Samir assured me it was delicious and he was right, it was great! I also liked that the salad was a good mix of greens, tomato, and a few cucumbers - not a basic romaine salad. The steak was not over seasoned and it was cooked exactly the way I like. The fries were tasty, crunchy, and came with ketchup in a ramekin, I should have asked if it was special, it tasted better than your average Heinz. Here's where Ted's got better. My friend who I am traveling​ with is gluten-free​, we asked Ray about the veggie burger and he explained that the veggie burger could be made gluten-free​e with a gluten-free bun. When she ordered, Samir took her allergy extremely seriously and confirmed each part of her meal with the chef to ensure it was gluten-free​. The veggie burger is usually made with a little gluten but they made it custom for her, he also recommended the Brussel​​l sprouts which were gluten-free. Finally,​ he recommended the chicken soup as an appetizer, as she was also VERY hungry, and they made it with gluten-free​ noodles. It is advertised as the "World's Best Chicken Noodle" and it definitely delivered, it was tasty! Samir was so great and he was extremely patient, we took longer than we should have probably to decide on menu items and he had suggestions and gave us time at least 3 or 4 times while we settled on items and focused on what to get. To close out our great experience, I asked Ray if I could have a "Ted's Bulletin" pen we signed our checks with for my friend Ted, Ray gave us the pen out of his pocket without hesitation and told us to have a great day. I LOVE Teds Bulletin. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly. You can sit in booths or tables or at the counter. It has a vintage diner feel without the grease and dirt. It's like an upscale diner. Tons of comfort food. They are known for their milkshakes. My personal favorite is the s'mores! Adults can jazz up their shakes with a liquor as well. They also make homemade pop tarts! Parking is available for street or in garages. Pre-corona the garages started charging for week days. I hope this changes once everyone is fully open again. Some items can be a bit pricey like the avocado toast. My suggestion is just go all out and get those comfort food plates. So worth it! read more

Third time is a charm. I will no longer support Ted's. Walked into Ted's on a beautiful Friday evening at 7:05 PM. I entered the bar where a couple was seated and there are about 15+ empty seats. I took a seat at the bar, looked at the bartender, gave a quick wave. She then spent the next 11 minutes counting receipts or some type of paperwork before she acknowledged me and took my order. I ordered a mixed drink and two appetizers (deviled eggs and five wings). The meal took 22 minutes to serve. I could not see the restaurant but I ordered appetizers because I just assumed it would support my desire to be served in a reasonable time. My bill after tip was just over $40. I believe that the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the workers in restaurants is real. This was not a particularly busy evening during my visit but I can only imagine how tough it is to work in a recovering business. What I experience tonight could be associated with the post pandemic affects or it could be just poor service. The demeanor, the lackadaisical attitude, and the inattentiveness of my bartender is indicative of someone who prefers not to be in the service industry. I'm not picking on the bartender in particular just in this restaurant in general. Hence, I am done with Ted's. read more

Honestly, I'm annoyed. I had much much higher hopes for my first time going here. 1st problem: I'm in a party of 2, we arrive, get to our table and my seat back is broken. Not a huge issue but it's worth noting considering the price I paid to eat here. 2nd problem: ordered a mimosa along with breakfast and what I was given is absolutely laughable. I'm a cocktail enthusiast, I order drinks everywhere, I make drinks at home for dinner parties with friends, I know what a proper mimosa is. This isn't it. What I received was a wine glass serving of champagne (5oz) with just enough OJ to give it a slight orange tint. Look at any recipe online and you'll see the ratio is 1-to-1. Make one on your own and taste it. Go to any other brunch place. This is pathetic for $10. 3rd problem: I ordered the Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich and a side of biscuits and gravy. The biscuits and gravy were fine but the sandwich was also pathetic for $12. Plain toast, cheddar, a few slices of bacon, sausage, and unseasoned eggs. This is as basic as it gets. I make better breakfast sandwiches at home. I'm glad it only took 1 visit to figure out I never need to come back. The food wasn't distasteful and the service was standard but my god I'm not spending $30 for borderline hospital food. read more

Delicious late breakfast & Excellent service. My spinach omelette was light with fresh spinach, bacon yummy, my husband's ham & cheese omelette was fat with its ingredients. Booths nicely spaced for us heavier folks. Coffee was strong without a particular flavor. Peach Bellini was heavy on the prosecco - wished for more of the peach nectar. Despite the late morning and light crowd, we were impressed with the smiles & eye contact/nods we received from every staff member we passed. We've agreed that this combination of food, service, friendliness and comfort ticks all our boxes for our new favorite place for easy meals. We look forward to trying it for lunch and dinner next. Can you say "ALL DAY BREAKFAST"?! SCORE!! Okay...I have officially become a born-again Ted's fan - a convert. Came here (walk-in party of 3) on a Saturday around 1PM without high hopes tbh - years ago, I tried the Ted's at Mosaic when it first opened to rave reviews and I was underwhelmed. Did the same when the Reston Town Center (RTC) location opened up years ago - once again, just couldn't understand what the hype was about. So I hadn't been back and have walked past this location always and forever since that first try. I guess it was just time to give this place another try.... And, boy howdy, what a truly pleasant surprise that was! First off, the place on a weekend late lunchtime on a bright, beautiful and sunny day was relatively quiet. The place was hopping but there was no wait and still plenty of walk-up counter seating and 2-person high top seating available. We were seated immediately at a nice cozy booth. The layout of the restaurant and seating is PERFECT. The tables may be a tad close to one another but there's a decent amount of buzz and action going on that you won't feel like your neighbor tables are eavesdropping in on your convo. Lots of nice primo seating along the loooooooong window side of the restaurant - great for people watching. The decor and ambience has a clean, classy old-timey diner feel - lots of dark wood yet spacious, clean, and open with lots of natural light that makes it a perfect meet-and-hang-out spot - even just to sit-and-convo or read a paper over a coffee or latte and a Ted's Tart (their twist on the classic Pop Tart - baked fresh right there at the restaurant and beautifully and enticingly displayed on raised platters as you walk in). Our food was brought out without much of a wait - hot, fresh and DELICIOUS - EVERYTHING we ordered - and we each ordered something different. - Make Your Mark breakfast platter - 2 eggs, applewood bacon, toast (lots of bread options) and hash browns - they give you 4 (!!) strips of bacon (love my bacon crispy!) and got my hash browns crispy too - perfectly done! At $10.50, well worth it and plentyyyyyy of food. - Blueberry Pancake Stack - holy cow 3 (!!) large pancakes (delish and take-home-able for later-munching), 2 eggs and hash browns - for $11.50; the blueberries were $1 extra - worth it! Eating the leftovers as I write this. :) - We wanted to try the Biscuits and Gravy and knew we would be ordering too much food but YOLO kicked in. :) Fortunately, it was on the list of side items so we ordered a side - plenty for sharing - $6. 2 of their housemade biscuits SMOTHERED with thick, rich gravy and a small bowl of extra gravy on the side! - Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich $14 included fries, we subbed in Parmesan Fries YUM for a $1 upcharge (ask for them crispy!). The chicken was thick, juicy and breaded and deep fried crispy to perfection, flavorful and just-the-right spicy. Highly recommend! - In addition, I'll add that the coffee was dark, bold and spot-on for diner coffee. A whole carafe was placed at my side. My friend got a vanilla latte - a huge cup, hot and delicious - the latte art was a nice added touch! The service was wonderful. Our server was pleasant, friendly, efficient and responsive. Bravo to her! As I said at the beginning of the review, you're looking at a Ted's-convert here. Regrettably I stayed away longer than I should have. But now I know. Reston so sorely lacks good quality, good-value-for-the-money breakfast spots. The choices are lackluster. Famous Toastery is overpriced for what you get and doesn't come close to the food quality, freshness (piping-hotness), service and ambience. Silver Diner has seen better days (many moons ago) and although still a Reston landmark that has tried to cash in on the sustainable-farm-to-table craze, still leaves much to be desired comparably. Community Canteen, steps away, is also a miss hit. Hate to say it but even a breakfast sandwich and a flavored latte at Starbucks (recommend the spacious RTC West location) is a very reasonable runner up to Ted's over these other places. There is plenty more to explore on the Ted's menu to bring us back again and again but now knowing I can get a hot, delicious, high quality and filling breakfast plate and a bottomless cup of coffee for a reasonable price in a beautiful setting at RTC here at Ted's - what more can one ask for?! Pretty decent spot, here, and I certainly appreciate the hours that mean it's open when I get out of work, because some morning you need a snack and a drink. Sadly, the one drink that really caught my eye on the menu involved ingredients that were unavailable, but the grapefruit spritz I ended up with was all right, if not the intense flavour I was hoping for. The salmon toast was similarly decent, but seemed to be lacking something- tomato maybe? Or maybe frying the capers killed too much of their salty, vinegary snap, I'm not sure. Service was fine, he seemed to understand I didn't want too much attention, just food and drink and peace. I love breakfast food so this place is one of my favorites. I took my sons for the first time and they are now hooked. The wait staff was friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is relaxed and the breakfast is all day! The grits are delicious and the French toast was a hit. I took my blueberry cheesecake tart home and put it in my toaster oven and it was delicious. So I must admit, I'm not a foodie. I have never actively went looking for new food places to go. I've been to Ted Bulletin before and it was good like any other place. I don't know what it was now, but this particular breakfast, something changed. I was entranced from the moment I walked in. I ordered a meal I had never had before. Crab Poached eggs Benedict with a side of grits. When I tell you I attacked this plate, let me just say I cleared it in 3 minutes flat! I've only had their breakfast meals but my dishes came out lukewarm. I felt like it lacked flavor. It's not horrible but it's nothing special. Great service with mediocre food. I've been here a few times for breakfast and lunch. I do think their breakfast is better that their lunch. Recently, I opted for Jon's Omelette came with a choice of meat, spinach, mushrooms, swiss, hash browns. I chose ham as my meat, it was flavorful and had a honey taste to it. The Omelette was just OK. It was fairly bland, as were the hash browns. The portion was huge, I couldn't finish the meal. The service is always great, their staff is very attentive. The other pro is that there is never a line to be seated and you'll get seated promptly. I don't think I would go out of my way to come here as it's nothing out of the ordinary.
