We've been Ted's fans for years and years from our visits to the Tempe location and we've been waiting for the new Chandler location to open. The food was just as good as we remember from our Tempe visits. Perfectly chargrilled hot dogs, tasty fries and onion rings and, of course, the Loganberry drink.  The service was so friendly (but a bit overwhelmed). Keep in mind longer wait-times should probably be expected at the new store. Plan accordingly. Our wait was on the longer side but reasonable with how busy it was. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with misters (but we tend to take our Ted's to go and eat it at home). It's all nostalgic foods that you know and love and so happy to have another location in the Valley now. read more

This is a try it once and never again place. Way over priced and ultimately just fell flat. Polish dog had way too thick of a casing. Couldn't even finish it. Fry's were soggy. What a bust They only serve Pepsi products. Their kids meals are advertised as $7 but then they charge you $8.25 for them. And sides. Who in the world charges $1.39 for each ranch!!!! This place was highway robbery. Service was fine. They came around to our table at one point and asked us how everything was. Also for being 106* outside there were not enough tables inside to seat everyone. Standing room only indoors and groups waiting for tables because it was way too hot outside. Also looking over our receipt I think we should have been offered combos. Ordered quite a few items here. I liked the burger though it could've used more sauce. Both hot dogs were good. I think I prefer the sausage dog over the other one though. The fries were probably the worst part. Although the chilli cheese was decent tasting, there wasn't much on the fries. I think ordering regular fries and having aioli on the side would've probably been a better idea. Had to sit outside because this place is pretty bustling and there were no seats. I've lived here for 35 years and never been to a Ted's, but my first experience was a sneak peek of the new location in Chandler and now I'm definitely a fan. This is just good, solid food made with care. The all-beef hot dogs hit the spot, and the burgers are great. We tried the loganberry milkshake--definitely a unique offering--and we loved it! Brand new place, just getting grounded, so I am being open minded in my rating. Have been going to the Tempe location for years. Favorites have been the white hot dogs, rings & loganberry drink. Pros... dogs are charcoal grilled. Loganberry drink is still good. Employees seem friendly. Cons... this menu does not include all items. Ordered at 3:35pm, received food at 4:05 We both had foot longs, and they were generous size! Unfortunately, not much flavor. Got the split order of half fries half rings. Fries below average, and barely warm. Rings also barely warm & more crumble than onion. Bland! Sat there for a half hour watching the bun prep guy wipe his face & nose with the back of his gloved hand! Carefully read all the reviews, and I wish I had the apparently superb 5 star experience as most of those reviewers!!!! Doubtful that we will return here. Glad to see Ted's get their new restaurant opened and running. Beautiful restaurant and certainly no expense spared on the setup and design. Got through the line fairly quickly. Amazed they had mostly one talented guy grilling up the dogs and burgers and our order was ready in less than 15 minutes. I had expected longer as they were very busy.. We had a foot long with chili and onions with a split of fries and onions rings. Perfectly done and as tasty as I'd remembered. Looking forward to the upcoming steak sandwich and trying out some sausage. Pretty happy the Ted's is right between my house and my girlfriend's. read more

Food was average, the dogs are better than a ballpark dog but not better than what we can make at home. Just didn't taste the appeal. The onion rings were like eating fried batter with very little onion. It was a busy afternoon that didn't impact the review. It's understandable they need to work out the kinks of people standing around waiting to pick up the orders and the drink area. Never been to any location and this will be our last time visiting. The four of us went today. We order a variety of dishes. Hot dog, burger, fries and onion rings. None were excellent. It seems if you are going to open a hot dog centered restaurant you would at least nail that. Burger bun was refrigerator cold and they forgot the cheese. You know it's gonna be great when you walk in and there is an instant undeniable vibe AND everyone is smiling. From the inviting dining room, to the cute picnic tables outside, to the gender neutral bathrooms to the friendly employees to the delicious iconic Teds food, you definitely will not be disappointed. Let's call it "Newstalgic"! I grew up on Ted's in Tempe and this is even better than I remembered. I loved the open kitchen where you can see them making your food. They announce your name when your food is ready. So fun!! The employees are working hard and still take time to greet you with a smile. The new Teds is located on the Chandler/Gilbert border in a brand new facility with open beams on the ceiling and some pretty fantastic retro decor. We tried a variety of things from the menu. Everything came out looking like food porn. The Double burger with Ted's aioli burger sauce was cooked to perfection. The hot Italian sausage was especially good with grilled onions. The polish and all beef dogs were hot and fresh and had the iconic casing snap (yes!) but my favorite was the split onion rings and fries. We couldn't leave without getting a chocolate shake. Good service, clean environment, safe and sanitary. Great facility. The burger was tasty, but they forgot my sauerkraut and the fries were kind of soft and didn't have much flavor. I would go again, but I'm hesitant to try their sides and add toppings that I may not receive on my food. Ordered a chili dog with mustard.when they finally called my name, my dog was covered in cheese. I said I didn't order cheese and I didn't want it. The kid asked me for my receipt and then looked it over very carefully, as if he didn't believe me. He apologized and said it would be a few minutes. Ten minutes later I asked an employee about my food and her reply was " I don't know I wasn't working on it." I said I was aware that she wasn't working on it but could she please check on it. She kind of rolled her eyes and walked away. Several minutes later my food arrived with no apologies for it taking longer than the original order. Food is just ok and definitely not worth the price. Food was consistent to other Ted's locations: meaning it was great. Hot dogs remained the perfect about of crips and char to go with the fixings. Son loved his cheeseburger with minimal toppings because of being picky about what he puts on them. Everyone we dealt with at the restaurant was friendly and helpful. Line was long as this was Day 3 of this location's opening. We waited 35 mins in line but thankfully the delivery of food was a non issue. Thrilled it's made it a bit closer to home. Stopped by Teds Hot Dog drive thru to grab lunch for my kids. When I arrived on Saturday the drive thru was non-operational. I waited in line for approximately 45 minutes. When I ordered the cashier was pleasant and helpful especially as it was my first time there and seeing the menu. I then waited for approximately 25 minutes at the pass to receive our food. When it came it was set up for a dine in experience and I had asked for it to be to go. The pass worker, a female whose name i missed, didn't miss a beat. She pivoted and packed up our lunch in a fast and professional manner. She apologized and thank me for my patience. I thanked her for her great work! The food: I have never had Teds before but i have had good experiences with food from Buffalo, NY: wings from Anchor Bar, pierogis, etc. I did like the aroma of hot dogs cooking on the charcoal grill and they did not disappoint. The all beef hot dog had a great taste and texture. My son had the polish sausage which he said was the best he ever had. The onion rings were not what i was expecting and I was pleasantly surprised: they were well seasoned, perfectly cooked and were definitely NOT a gut bomb. I will definitely try them again. The chili: i grew up with Tommy Burger chili as my ideal chili for any burger, hot dog, or fries. I also enjoy chili from Douglas Burger in LA and Bens Chili Bowl in Washington DC. The chili from Teds was different, a little sweeter and more cumin forward. Fortunately i like cumin and found Teds chili a refreshing new experience. Great balance of sweet, savory, and spice. The overall experience at Teds was great. Food was worth the price and time investment, staff was excellent, being helpful, pleasant, and professional for being such a busy day. Went to the newly opened Ted's today for lunch. I was impressed with the outdoor covered seating with misters! The line went out the door but I was impressed as to how quickly we got through it. Every worker I encountered was friendly and helpful. I ordered an all beef hot dog with onion pickles and mustard. It came out hot and juicy with a really soft bun. Just the way I expected it to be. My partner ordered a chili dog and a split fry's and onion rings. All was hot and delicious. I was not disappointed and am so glad Ted's opened in my area!!! I'll be back! read more

$40 for four hot dogs. They got the toppings mixed up from me and my nephew. They even charged us a dollar for water from the machine. Unlike the old one on McClintock, they're charging 99 cents for most of the toppings except the basic ketchup and mustard. This will be my first and last visit here. read more

The ambience is fun and casual with great outdoor seating. BUT! We have gone to Ted's in Tempe for years, being from near Buffalo NY, to eat Ted's White Hots. So excited when we got a Ted's in Gilbert (we live in QC). Went in today.... They don't serve White Hots!!! Booooo! Just your basic hot dogs and sausage... not the specialty they are known for! Will never go back because the prices are sky high... for a hot dog!! Never been to the Tempe location so this visit was a first for us. Got there 20 min after opening and the place was a zoo! Good sign, right?! Wrong. Upon walking in there is no order.. people lined up to order in multiple lines... people standing in a jammed circle to get their order in the same area where the napkins are.. how about give people a few napkins with their order like most other places? Fries were not even hot or salted well and the chili had a manwich tomato flavor. Please don't say onion rings when they're not. They were onion shreds doused in oil. Was so excited to try this place but IMO the quality of food for the cost isn't worth it. If you're gonna charge $7 for a hotdog it better be pretty good. These are not. I have gone to Ted's a few times. Every time I have gone, I have had amazing service. Especially with Cody. He is really an amazing person and very knowledgeable about what Ted's is. Cody made me and my son welcome and helped us. I will always go back and ask for Cody. The store is in great condition and I just love the whole vibe. Love ready the news papers from Buffalo there. We have visited Ted's in Tempe a few times and was excited to have one nearby but we waited a couple weeks before going to the new Chandler location to give time to work out the kinks. We arrived at just before 11 which was a very good decision because we were 4th to order and by the time we ordered and sat down the line was 30 deep. I was disappointed they did not carry the fish sandwich no the smaller skinless dogs we like to treat our dogs to. Our food did not take long to get and everything was correct in our order but my husband got a footlong chili dog and the bun was very hard but the hotdog and chili were good. Overall it was a good lunch. Oh and do not leave without an order of their onion rings, they are extremely addictive, a must try!! read more

I will update this review after we try it again. Ordered couple dogs and a split and fries. Both my wife's and my fries were cold. The onion rings were hot and great. Hot dogs were undercooked which was weird as I was watching the grill and most dogs were looking burnt. Big issue was nobody was consistently cleaning tables, a lot of dirty tables. We definitely will come back as my Grandfather frequented the first one under the bridge in the 1930's and loved Ted's! read more

Ordered a hot dog Chicago style... it had ketchup & mustard on it- which isn't Chicago style. The wait was too long to get it re-made. The onion rings were not rings- they were pretty similar to the French's brand onions that you shake out of a plastic tub. No rings- just crunchy, greasy, fried shavings... strange if that is what they were going for- but not appetizing at all. We also tried the carmelized onions on one hot dog and they were mushy. We asked the girl at the counter what she recommends- her answer: "I honestly don't know". I asked a few other questions, her answers were all the same. I got the impression she has never tried the food. Service was friendly but slow, and I get it- they are figuring things out... Overall, disappointing. read more

My wife and I brought our daughter here to try it out. First off I think the buildout turned out very good. I really love what they have done with the interior and think it is a very nice buildout. It was clean and so points for them on that. I loved the vintage mini boards. All of the workers were very nice so no complaints on that. Our food took a long time. Granted they're new and have only been open for a few weeks but nonetheless, they were not very busy and I just thought that the food was taking a while not that big of a deal. My daughter ordered the mac & cheese and french fries. She absolutely loved the mac & cheese. She liked the french fries but my wife and I both thought that they weren't the best. I got a hamburger which was OK. Nothing to brag about but certainly a good burger. My wife got a corn dog and did not enjoy it at all. To me the Absolute miss of the night was the onion rings. I'm just gonna say it, they were nasty. They honestly have a similar look and taste as French dehydrated and onions and if I'm being honest, I would rather eat those dehydrated French onions. I do not say that to be mean that is a very honest opinion. This would not be an establishment that I would consider trying again. I do wish them the best of luck. read more

Sorry but everything is wrong with this place. You don't order like a normal Teds. You order, sit and they might call your name to pick up, they might not, so it might sit on the counter getting cold. After I got my cold food they started calling names. It is soo loud, it stops all conversations. I actually went outside, it's soo loud there to. Hot dog had less than a teaspoon of chili. I took it back and asked for a chili dog, they simply put chili on my cold dog, I watched it pass through four sets of hands, two weren't gloved. I threw it out. Burger was burnt bad. Outside was designed by someone from Buffalo. The tables have umbrellas, they're too small and don't tilt. At lunch there is very little shade. Not once did I see anyone who might be in authority, these kids need more training. There's more but I'm done. What happened? Both Ted's have gone down hill drastically. We were very excited to try a Ted's that was much closer to our house. Unfortunately, they missed the mark on many fronts. The location is nice and the decor is great, and the service was friendly, but the one key thing they had control over, they completely dropped the ball on! One of the toughest things at the Ted's in Tempe was the line blocking things. They addressed it somewhat by moving the register, but they had to make do with the layout they had. Walking into the new place, it's even worse! I'm not sure any thought went into the layout of the restaurant. Or, maybe they only planned on having 10 people in there at a time? Anyway, the line extended out the door and completely blocked the access to seating. You need to snake between the line multiple times to get your food, drinks, condiments, plastic wear, and napkins. Even the only garbage cans in the restaurant are trapped behind the line right at the door. The worst part is, everything I mentioned is located in one 10x10 space in the front corner of the restaurant. Couple that with people standing in front of the machines on their phones while waiting for a pick up order, and it's just annoying. There is absolutely no space. I can't believe they didn't address this at the initial design phase. The food was mediocre at best. Our hot dogs were charred on one side, the bun was somehow over-baked and dry and was very dark, the chili topping was cold, and the cheese was room temp. It was nothing like the Tempe restaurant which we have been going to for many years. I'll give it some time before returning, but for now, we'll stick with Tempe if we need our fix. read more
