I just noticed this place in a strip mall, located next to Lowe's. I ordered a Reuben dog with pastrami, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, spicy brown mustard, mugsy sauce, and fry sauce. The sauerkraut was warm and a tad bit charred, and not too briny. All of the sauces played nicely with each other. Great snap on the hot dog. The service was ok. The hot dog was amazing. Mugsy Dogs came to my son's school on their half day so I couldn't help but to order a few to support them on a hot day. It was $7 for a mugsy dog and they have toppings you can add on yourself such as onions, jalapeños, cheese, sauerkraut, relish and a few sauce options. Super disappointed with today's visit. This once local spot has severely neglected. The restroom was filthy and vents were covered in dust. Dining room booths had food in them at 1030a, Light bulbs out, windows gross. So disappointing. Food was subpar and not great. Overall disappointing and won't be back. Mugsy Dogs is always my go to for hot dogs, they have a ton of options and they are the only place around that does a solid fry sauce that reminds me of home. I always get the Arizona dog and my husband always gets the Mac n Cheese dog. They also have deals for everyday of the week I believe and Mondays are half off kids meal which was great! I think its a Chicago thing. the hot dogs were terrible, chili from a can. i had 2 bites from the kraut dog and one from the chili dog and tossed them out. even the fries were under done. Staff was nice, place was clean, but the hot dogs were terrible. If they are vienna beef, Vienna beef hot dogs suck. The first time I ate here my initial impression was that is was pricey. The second time I ate here a few days ago all I could think is the two kids shooting the breeze up front when I walked in to this otherwise empty restaurant should try wiping down a table. Or the floors. Or clean the bathroom. Or the soda and condiment station. Nope, they just leaned up against the counter the entire time I was there, talking music or movies or whatever. Now if it was six at night when I swung by I could have understood the mess, but this was first thing on a Tuesday morning, like literally half an hour after they opened. So this disaster has been sitting around since at least the night before waiting for a visit from the health department. I would like to say the food was good, but the fries have some sort of a chili powder on them I wasn't expecting and didn't care for. As for the hot dogs ... they might have been better if I hadn't been sitting there contemplating how clean the kitchen was considering my current surroundings. And then I went to use the restroom ... Seems very unfamiliar to me, relish was off, lack of sport crispy sport peppers and pickle slices instead of a standard spear were all unexpected. Bun was more stale than soft. First time trying this place out! I asked the cashier what was the best thing on the menu, he said the Chicago dog, I said DONE! Then I or the Mugsy burger with it with a side of fries... I wanted the Tots but they were sold out which tells me they must be good... next time I guess... they atmosphere was cool... Guns and Roses, sweet child of mine was playing in the background! The food was good...the Chicago dog had pickles chips but it cooked to perfection. The fries are super crispy and perfectly seasoned. The burger wasn't bad! I want to start my review off by stating, I'm from Chicago. I am also a HUGE hot dog lover. With that being said, I, of course ordered the Chicago Dog. I liked it, it was different. I don't feel like it was a true Chicago Dog, maybe an adaptation of a Chicago Hot dog. I say this because it did not come with the traditional pickle spear, it came with sandwich pickles on top which was a bit of a surprise to me. Overall, the hot dog was tasty. I believe I would go back to try a different hot dog, maybe even a "build your own". The service was quick, which was good. They seemed somewhat busy, but the workers were working. Brought a friend here tonight for dinner as he's never been there. I tried a new hotdog called a Gringo Dog! What's in a Gringo dog you ask? Well it has a bacon wrapped hot dog, baked beans, onions, tomatoes and this green gringo sauce that's sorta a avocado sauce. It's most spicy just fresh. So this sounded like a wild combo of ingredients so I had to try it. Well..... it totally worked! I ate the whole thing! I also got tater tots and onion rings on the side because I couldn't decide. The young kid working tonight was very helpful and answered all our questions. I forgot to get his name but he was great! We came in at like 4:40 ish so it wasn't crowded. But as we were leaving the firemen came in as well as multiple other customers. Obviously this was a happening place. You should try it for sure! read more

My kids wanted hamburger today and yes I could make it but I was in a hurry between sports so went and grabbed the Muggsy dogs. The burgers can be made with whatever you want on them based on their menu options (lettuce, tomatoes, bacon etc). My kids are simple and one wanted a bacon cheese burger plain and another just a cheeseburger. Both wanted A side of fries as well. The burgers were good, they ate and my daughter was only able to eat half as it is too big for her. Neither liked the fries as we asked them not to put any seasoning yet they did add to it and tasted awful. I tried and I didn't like it either. Otherwise the burger is pretty good and I like that they are a smaller place. Gave 4 starts bc of the fries with the weird seasoning, we threw that away. Go for the burger! read more

I stopped in here on a whim as it was near where I happened to be. I was less than impressed with the service from the guy who took my order, he was quite bored and not very friendly. I felt rushed and not listened to while he was taking my order. However, the guy who gave me the food was very friendly and nice. Maybe guy #1 was just having an off day? Either way, it was off putting. I got the build your own dog with a bratwurst, cheddar cheese, bacon, and onion along with onion rings and a coke. The food was really good! I also got a strawberry shake and it was super delicious. I was very impressed with how good everything was. All in all I spent about $15 and it was worth it. The place itself is nice and there's inside and outside seating. The restaurant was clean and well stocked and the music wasn't too much. All in all, I'd recommend coming here and giving them a try! Our family was craving some quick and easy to eat tonight and have seen Mugsy Dogs near our house but have never had a chance to try. Tonight was the night! We arrived around 6:30pm and was greeted by a lovely young lady. I wish I had gotten her name but she was absolutely wonderful. She gave us suggestions, tips and told us what she preferred off the menu. We ended up ordering a Gringo burger, Arizona hot dog , two American hot dogs and a chocolate milk shake. The total came to around $20 (due to it being Weiner Wednesday 50% most hot dogs). What a bargain. The food came out promptly and it tasted great! Could not fault it at all. My 3 year old daughter smashed down her hot dog and as per usual, it's always enjoyable watching your child finish their meal. We'll be back! The choc shake was delish! Service was friendly and genuine. Bathrooms were replenished and clean. Definitely recommend for a quick pit stop meal. read more

If you just order meals the way they come, they are just ok. But what makes Mugsy Dogs so great is the fact you can customize your order any way you want. For example, I always order my hot dogs butterflied, well done as well as the buns and fries also well done. I get the fries without salt and always taste great...be sure to get some fry sauce. Higley hot dog stand was closed, so came here to try this popular place. Friendly counter service. Ordered All American dog, and chile dog, rings, and fries. 2 Jones sodas. Onion rings excellent. Fresh hot and crunchy. Fries were also very good. Unfortunately, the buns for both dogs were hard and stale. Dogs themselves were not hot. Pretty good hot dogs. First time visiting today with my daughter and we were each craving a hot dog. I like the interior of the space - reds and whites, kind of like 5G's vibe. They have daily specials, but we chose to get signature dogs and opted for combos. I had the chili dog and my daughter had the mac and cheese. Good tasting hot dogs. Fries were generous and we liked the seasoning salt on them. Will definitely try out some of the other dogs (and polish sausage) and maybe try the burgers, too. I was super excited to find this place and it's super close to home. Not just that but it's not pricey either. We went in around 730 on a Friday evening and there was only one person in line in front of us. There are only a handful of tables to eat at so happy that we were able to snag a table rather quickly. We ordered and only waited about 10-12 minutes for our food. My daughter got a waffle dog kids meal which came with fries, and a drink. My son got the Mac n cheese hotdog and I got the Gringo minus onion and tomatoes. My daughter devoured her waffle dog. She made me try it dipped in syrup and I have to say YUM! The fries were tasty but nothing special. The fry sauce was a nice addition for dipping. My sons hotdog was topped with Mac n cheese, Mugsy sauce, bacon bits and cheese crackers. He also added fry sauce and he devoured it too. We always joke that when my son is quiet when he eats it means he likes what he's eating... he was damn near silent LOL. I did ask if he liked it and he said it was fine but he said next time he will probably create his own since that is an option here. My Gringo dog was a bacon wrapped dog topped with Mayo, mugsy sauce, baked beans, and Gringo sauce. It was real good! The Mayo could have been left off as you don't really notice it. The mugsy sauce is a sweet sauce and definitely added to the overall flavor. The baked beans tasted like the kind I had as a kid; The Van Camps pork n beans kind. It was a unique addition to this hotdog. And lastly the green sauce. It tasted like a combo of cilantro and avocado sauce. Someone said it was like a chimichurri but I don't agree. It wasn't garlicky or oily like a chimichurri but it was tasty. We also got a side of onion rings and they were very good especially dipped in the fry sauce. Our burgers were yummy but so greasy and sloppy and hard to eat, like running down my arms messy. But that isn't the worst thing... Mugsy Sauce was delicious. Green sauce was divine. And fry sauce.
