We sat at the bar during the Kentucky Derby and had a great meal. They're famous for their bison and the bison burger was delicious! The bartenders, Sinclaire and Morgan, were fantastic! Very personable and fun. The ambiance in here is nice. One issue is that the parking lot is for all of Avalon and they don't have designated or reserved parking for the restaurants at the front. Even if Ted's is empty, every spot in front of it is taken. They should consider validating tickets for those spots, so people don't have to park a mile away. read more

Ted's at Avalon is absurdly expensive for the quality of food you get. I would be fine paying $18 for a single crab cake if it was good, but it was dry and not good! It tasted like it was frozen and then microwaved or something, we couldn't put our finger on exactly what was wrong with it, but it was gross. The ribeye was tough. The hot honey chicken sandwich was a special and was actually pretty good, definitely the best thing we ordered. My youngest son wanted a burger but we ended up just taking him across the street to NFA burger for an incredible $5.50 smash burger instead of a Ted's burger after seeing the prices vs. quality. Again, I don't mind paying more if the quality is high! But Ted's just isn't it. The server was polite, but not particularly accommodating and the dining area is fine. It seemed clean. The place was busy even at 8:00 pm, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation -- otherwise, expect a long wait on the weekend. Once we were seated, our waitress was friendly, but it seemed like her section was pretty large, so we didn't see her very often. The wait for our food was longer than expected, but that wasn't the waitress's fault -- the kitchen was clearly backed up, and our food was brought out by kitchen staff. The food itself was fine. My steak was cooked exactly as requested. My wife felt her burger was a bit dry, though I had to remind her that bison is leaner and really needs to be cooked less than a typical beef burger. One thing my wife pointed out was that the menu listed prices for everything except the non-alcoholic beverages, which we thought was a bit odd. Have been wanting to try Ted's. Love the sign outside, somewhat nostalgic. Always have seen it at the Collection in Forsyth but we were closer to Avalon. Upon entry, we waited to be seated with others. When the host came to seat, he didn't ask if any one of us waiting were on the waitlist, we were. However others went before us. It was quite crowded in the inside dining area. We were seated at a table for four in the middle of the dining room. It felt very cramped and also very stuffy and hot. We asked to be seated outside on the patio which was much better and more open. Our waiter came and greeted us then took our drink order and appetizer order. The Homemade chips were good but the dipping sauce was very thick and mostly tasted like seasoned mayo and a lot of it. They did offer us a free refill on the homemade chips not sure if that was complimentary since we waited quite a while before our meals arrived just like we waited for our drinks. Come to find out our waiters did a shift change so that could have been the issue. Finally our orders were taken. Unfortunately three out of four of us wanted a chicken dish. What?? No chicken we were told...ran out. Such a let down!! Never heard of such a thing in all my dining out. We changed courses and ordered the fish sandwich as well as the other dishes in the pics. Once again, it seemed way too long for our dinners to arrive. Unfortunately my fries were not hot enough. The fish seemed over breaded and the sauce was very rich. It did taste delicious while enjoying it. The fish pieces were very large and the waiter was kind to give us two separate buns since we were splitting it. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed their dinners. One of the most appallingly bad meals I've had in a long time. Water tasted like mildew. "Homemade Chips" were soggy and floppy. Kid's Mac and cheese showed up room temperature and soupy. Steak was basically a salt lick. Caesar salad was lettuce, dressing, and ultra dry ultra salty chicken (no cheese or croutons as in the menu description). I am a fairly regular customer at this restaurant and have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. However, I wanted to share some feedback about a disappointing experience during my visit last week at the Avalon location. I ordered a salad that came with the wrong dressing. I had ordered ranch on the side and the salad came with the ranch but was also covered in balsamic vinaigrette; which I hadn't requested. My steak, which I asked for medium, was served well-done. Service was also below the standard I've come to expect. We were there for about an hour and a half--during that time, our water was only refilled once, and our iced tea was never refilled at all. We all but had to beg for our check to come to the table. The restaurant wasn't busy; the server was just not very attentive. I understand that occasional mistakes happen, but the overall experience--from the kitchen to the table--fell short. I hope you'll take this feedback in the manner that it was intended. read more

When they are good they are great but sometimes the kitchen suns out bad food. When you get takeout you don't really expect to think you have to inspect your food as soon as you get it before you leave. My boyfriend had heard of it while on vacation in Colorado and we don't have one near our home in Florida, so when we saw one near our hotel in the Atlanta area, we had to check it out. First off, we were excited to join their mailing list in exchange for a coupon -- never received a coupon after we signed up. The food is decent but nothing spectacular, though we loved the chips and dip. Service was extremely good to the point where we were hoping for more alone time. Went for dinner on Thursday evening @ 6:30 and the restaurant should have been full or at least pretty busy - all the others in Avalon certainly were - but then I understood why. Whenever we're in the area we usually try to grab lunch or dinner here and each time it has become less and less enjoyable. When we were ordering, we noticed that two tables near our booth were having issues w/their meals and were sending things back to the kitchen. When our order arrived, it too had to be returned. The chili bowl was room temp - not even warm; the nachos w/chili were the same. Appetizers were not good - while we asked & were told they were fresh, it certainly seemed they were left over from lunch at some point. The bison burger was small and had absolutely no taste and it, too, was not even warm. When the gal was cleaning the tables after customers left, I swear it sounded like she was intentionally throwing them! Sad to see the continuing decline of this once good restaurant. read more

Kealey is a doll! Her service is wonderful so genuine, and sweet. My husband loves the Teds center cut fillet, consistently cooked to perfection. As far as cheesecake goes... the flavor is definitely good. The whipped cream toward the back adds a subtle addition without overpowering. The berries taste fresh and cool, maybe even a bit of a pucker. It's definitely a great dessert. I don't like to leave negative reviews. I can say I had a lovely time with my family the two times we have been here. The first time we weren't pleased. I guess the second time was just to remind us of why we don't eat here. Our shoes literally stuck to the floor. Which is fun if it's a hole in the wall college bar. I do expect more from a proper restaurant though. The bartender was nice and made a decent Bloody Mary. The rest of the staff doesn't seem like they really want you there. The host couldn't have been less helpful or friendly. The food, my mashed potatoes were good. I'll leave it at that and continue to wonder how they are still in business and looking busy all the time. Why one would want to eat here amongst the many other choices in Avalon is puzzling to me. My cousin (who's really my aunt but because we are the same age and want to ward off confusion, we stick with cousins ) and I were awaiting our movie reservation and wanted to get something to eat and a drink before it started. Well we walked through Avalon and fell upon Teds. I LOVE bison. I think it's an awesome meat that's sweet and full of flavor. So what better place to get some from? Let me share with you our experience. Parking: We parked in the parking deck. Parking is free but you may have to circle a few times because it can get crowded. I always pray before I leave for a first or close spot so I didn't have any trouble (LOL) Location: There are many shops and live music along the Avalon strip, so enjoy the walk to Teds. Atmosphere: It was nice and chic. The greeter accommodated us by finding us better seating inside since it was about to rain outside. Experience: Our waitress Hannah was so awesome! She knew her menu, offered suggestions that made sense, gave us time to decide and also was very funny! We were in a booth so I felt it was a great transition spot for being back out in the public during our pandemic LOL The food was really good - especially the Bison Nachos! Wow! I stopped in here last night and asked the server what she recommended. My coworker did indeed get the salt and pepper trout and reported it was very good. I tried the Bison brisket and enjoyed it. When the food was delivered the food runner spilt my blue cheese dressing in the salad and said oops you like blue cheese. She never apologized or asked if I wanted a new salad. When I cut into the salad the core of the lettuce was in it. We also ordered a burger medium and it came out well done. No one ever checked if it was cooked properly and I didn't have time to ask them to fix it as it took about 25 minutes for the food to come out in the first place. I was extremely disappointed. So I was at the Avalon and decided I wanted the sliders. Ordered it to go. I specifically asked for no cheese and there is cheese. On top of that you can see the quality of what I received. I didn't check my food before leaving (next time I will) so when I saw this it was already late. Called the next morning and spoke to a manager who was very apologetic and sent my request for a refund to corporate. Received in a few days. Customer service excellent. Dined at Ted's Montana Grill as I had a hankering for a primo burger. I don't believe I've ever had Bison, so after learning about the meat from my Bartender Ryan I ordered one with grilled onions and mushroom and selected the 50/50 fries and onion rings. I must admit this burger was really tasty, not a lot of difference from beef but a bit more of a sweet flavor. I did notice how it "seemed" to be rarer than a normal beef burger, but it was cooked perfectly. I believe I need to try an actual Bison steak to see how it compares to beef. The fries were good, the onion rings were OK but I'm not much of a fan of big thick onion rings anyway. Overall a good burger and Ryan took great care of me. read more

This place needs an overhaul. The bar is dirty, the service is terrible and the food is just mediocre. We sat at the bar for almost 10 minutes before the bartender Ryan even acknowledged after I had to flag him down. I first asked him could he wipe down the area where we're sitting and he responded that he would whenever he got a free moment. The bar was full of crumbs and the previous patrons napkins. I state okay and thanks, and we ordered two drinks, a strong lemon martini and an old fashion. My husband specifically asked him if he had the Luxembourg cherries and he said yes and disappears to the other end of the bar for about another 15 minutes. In the meantime more diners are sitting down, people waiting to place to go orders and the phone is ringing off the hook. This is too much for one person behind this bar. Finally a colleague shows up and addresses the couple next to me and places napkins down on the bar in front of them along with silverware and water. Before she walks off, I asked could we get a setup and water as well? She kindly did so.As we're still waiting on our bar drinks, the new couple next to us is enjoying theirs! Make it make sense! We finally get our food onion rings which came after our entrees we're almost done (they comped them). They were very good but very salty. I couldn't eat but a few. I had the crab cakes, they weren't bad but didn't understand what the guacamole was for, and my broccoli was room temperature. My husband's blue cheese buffalo burger lacked any flavor whatsoever, and who brings fries with no ketchup! Oh, and the old fashion that he promised would have Luxembourg cherries had one maraschino cherry, so of course he sent it back. The lemon drop was good. Finally two more couples sit down, and I see Ryan giving them the complimentary pickles. We were never offered pickles or even a slice a bread, let alone a bar setup. We ate here for lunch with a couple that likes to eat lunch here. First of all our server was very nice and friendly who knew our kids from high school. We all went the light lunch route. I ordered a small salad and bison chili. My wife ordered the regular chopped chicken salad with basil vinaigrette dressing.
