I walked to this restaurant and was a little confused about where to enter. There are apparently two entrances but one goes directly in and I thought it was just some side door. I was eating solo and was seated really quickly. It was a while before anyone came up to the table to start taking my order. I was going to go with a lower rating, but they redeemed themselves enough. I went pretty simple, a bacon cheeseburger and fries. I did opt for bison since I had never eaten it. My waitress, once she came to the table, was incredibly nice and did check in a few times - not overly so like some can do. I appreciated that. I did order the burger medium and it came out medium well to well, but I attribute that to bison cooking quicker and it really didn't matter to me anyway. Burger was good. Fries were good. I contemplated dessert, but the cookie they serve with the ice cream is oatmeal, but I was told they have a brownie and ice cream option. Sign me up! The waitress brought it out a little later, the brownie nice and warm. It was good. No complaints. This place is t great, but it is good and the food is less expensive than some of the options I had around here. I'd definitely go back if I am in the area again. I might even have to try to get some bison meat at home. read more

Great menu and totally satisfied my craving for a delicious burger. Many burgers to choose from and option of beef or bison & one side. I chose the 1977 AMERICA'S CUP (American, bacon, grilled onion, mushroom, fried egg) with a side order of grilled asparagus that were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Claire was very friendly and attentive to our needs. She kept our water glasses and drinks filled despite the large groups she also had to attend. Fairly noisy w the NCAA Championship being displayed on the screens. I would definitely come back to try the other items in the menu when back in town visiting! read more

Fantastic bison burger grilled medium rare w/ grilled onions, bacon, and cheddar cheese. Garnished with lettuce tomato, pickle & onion but I only added the tomato. Fresh cut French fries, iced tea & water, then there was pecan apple crisp w/ vanilla ice cream -- it was big enough for four to share! Ted's is normally our go to steakhouse while visiting from out of town and unfortunately, it will be my last visit. While my first experience was great, each visit since has gone downhill, and this most recent one was incredibly disappointing. We waited 30 minutes just to get drinks from the bar. Our server seemed overwhelmed, and it was clear the restaurant was struggling to keep up. Our kids were starving, and it took an hour and a half for our food to arrive. When it finally came, I ordered the ribeye, which was completely flavorless--definitely not what I expect from a place known for steaks. At the end of the meal, I brought up our concerns to the server. She apologized and offered 10% off the bill. We were charged, signed, and ready to leave after a 2.5-hour dinner. However, we noticed the discount hadn't been applied, so we stayed behind while the bill was corrected and reprinted. Days later, we noticed an unauthorized charge on our account--for the full amount of the bill. We've called the restaurant multiple times to speak with a manager, and no one has returned our calls. As someone with 15 years in the restaurant industry, I find it unacceptable that no one from management addressed our concerns at the table or has followed up since. We'll be disputing the charge with our credit card company. It's unfortunate, because Ted's used to be a great spot, but the service and accountability have gone severely downhill. If you're looking for a good steak and a smooth dining experience, I'd recommend going elsewhere. read more

Hmmm I really hate being that guy as it seems in today's world all people do is write negative reviews but sadly my experience was less than stellar at Teds. I came in for lunch around 1:00. They weren't overly busy but had a decent crowd. I was eating alone and was set relatively quick. However sat there waiting for close to 10 mins before someone came to take my drink order. Daryl was very polite. For an appetizer I ordered the wedge salad and for a main I ordered the Delmonico rib eye with the 50/50 fries and onion rings. After what seemed like a long wait the appetizer arrived with the main. I ordered the salad with no blue cheese and ranch dressing instead. Well the salad had blue cheese dressing. I didn't send it back as I already had been waiting for a while and I don't hate blue cheese just wasn't craving it. Now to the steak... wow it was as crazy tough and absolutely flavorless , the fries and onion rings were cold and greasy. When you pay that sort of money you definitely expect better quality. Hell for the price Texas road house has better taste , flavor and value. When I come down to Bozeman for work I will definitely not be going back. Things were just wrong from the beginning. The restaurant itself is nice and a good ambiance but that's where it ended. I sat at the bar and asked the bartender if she wouldn't mind turning the tv to the NBA finals. She then came up 10 minutes later noticing I was watching it on my phone and finally turned the channel. I ordered a glass of wine then dinner a few minutes later. Asked to keep the menu for the wine list. After ordering she grabbed the menu and walked away. I ordered the filet medium with broccoli and asparagus. The asparagus was cooked perfectly. The broccoli was one small piece and then an entire bunch so big it wasn't cooked all the way. When I ordered I asked for sautéed onions and mushrooms. I also asked for bbq sauce. Neither came when the main course was delivered. The steak was so well done I only ate half. The onions and mushrooms came out 10 minutes after the steak. Overall, this place is located in an ideal area, it's just too bad they can't get out of their own way. read more

The service at this place is absolutely terrible, more specifically at the bar, they were extremely rude and tried to pretend that we weren't there. We waited for 20 minutes to try to get one of the bartenders to just look at us and take our order but they just ignored us. Several nights spent here having dinner and drinks. Fantastic martinis. I made the mistake of ordering an old fashioned. First one was not the one I ordered (they have their own version on the menu which was overly sweetened) but not horrible so I drank it. Ordered a second one and clarified that I wanted a traditional one. It came and was the single most disappointing drink I've ever had. Didn't drink it. Every night I was there my experiences went down in quality. Whether it was the drinks, then the food, then service, each visit was progressively more disappointing. The ambience was fine~ it's giving old-timey with a little cafeteria sprinkled on top. Overall I'm averaging my multiple experiences there with my rating. read more

We were a group of five dining at Ted's Montana Grill and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. It took over an hour for our food to arrive, which would be understandable if the restaurant was packed -- but it wasn't. There were maybe five or six tables occupied in total. It was clear the staff was overwhelmed or understaffed. We saw new customers come in and stand around waiting, with no one greeting them for several minutes. Eventually, a server came out and explained she had been helping in the kitchen. That honestly made me wonder -- was my steak cooked by a chef, or by one of the servers? I ordered my steak medium rare, but what I got was at least medium, if not more. For a place that positions itself as a steakhouse, that kind of mistake is disappointing. All in all, the restaurant wasn't busy, yet service and execution were far below expectations. Sadly, we won't be coming back any more. read more

I have been receiving email ads for their new Smash Burger. It looks incredible. I have had Smash Burgers before and agree they are more juicy and tasty. Both my wife and I ordered it along with onion rings and fries. There are no words that can describe how terrible they were. First of all the food was cold. The meat was overcooked and the sides were simply bad. We were so disappointed. We expected a much more tasty meal. Shame on Ted's. It will be sometime before we ever go back. read more

When in Rome, I mean Montana, you must try Ted's Montana Grill, right? It was a rainy early September evening, we quickly were seated but it took a while to get service and our drink order. We were told they were short staffed. We were patient/ no problem. Our server was exceptionally friendly and helpful with suggestions. All four dinners were good. Two of us enjoyed the bison meatloaf which was rich and delicious and it came with so- so sides of mashed potatoes with gravy and buttered carrots. The bison was the highlight. The vibe is a true western old-timey feel. Lots of wood everywhere. Restrooms were located adjacent in the connecting hotel. It was a nice experience. read more

We've had several friends recommend Ted's and the food left a lot to be desired. We had a reservation and we were seated promptly. The atmosphere of the restaurant is excellent although it was extremely hard for us to hear each other at our own table. I do think they need to do something for more of a sound barrier it was very loud and the restaurant was not full. Our server was kind, helpful and diligent making sure we were taken care of. The food was a disappointment. My husband I and I each got a ribeye with sides. The steaks were cooked correct, unfortunately they lacked in flavor & they did not have a sear. My husband got the chipotle corn and onion rings for his sides. He liked the corn but the onion ring batter was too thick it made them mushy. I got the asparagus and mashed potatoes, the asparagus needed flavor (garlic or lemon or balsamic -something) & the potatoes were very lumpy with a lot of skin left in, they were flavored well. Overall for the cost we were disappointed and we will probably not return. We did hear another table say the burgers are the best thing they've had off the menu. read more

Nice steakhouse right in the middle of Bozeman on Main Street. Made reservations and walked right in and we're seated. Service was excellent, prices were a little high, as is everything now. I had the Bison Meatloaf, loved it! The rest of our party had Steak, Burgers and the salads. Nothing but positive reviews of their food. The ambiance inside was really cool, almost like a cabin feel. 4 stars instead of 5 is mainly due to price, otherwise highly recommend. read more

Loved this place for the past 15 years... until now. Last couple times I went, the food quantity and quality was terrible. They are no longer cooking using large size meats, and even the classic red rock chicken sandwich was sad. The chicken breast was dry and half the size of the bread it was on. There was not much in the way of sauce on there. The fries weren't even good somehow (dry and clearly not home made). The smash burger sadly was a regular burger, not much smash to it and it was also overcooked and dry. The wait staff was however, very nice, but unable to rectify the situation. It's sad to see this Bozeman staple hit the lows many other places in town have. Ted's used to be the most consistent restaurant in town. RIP. read more

I thought the service was amazing. From the moment we walked in, the staff were friendly and attentive. The overall restaurant has a romantic atmosphere to it and it's perfect for a date night. We passed it on Valentine's Day and it was packed! However, I didn't absolutely love my food, though my partner did love his Bison steak. I ordered the Bison brisket with garlic mashed potatoes and buttered broccoli and out of everything my favorite were the mashed potatoes. The brisket just tasted bland, unfortunately. I also found the lemonade to be quite flavorful and refreshing, so highly recommend trying it! read more

My husband and I went to Ted's and sat at the bar this past Monday night around 7:45 Ordered a couple martinis and a burger to split with a salad The food was pretty good but the service was horrible. The bartender I feel was a little inexperienced and was more interested in taking shots with his friends at the bar. We ordered our food before the other patrons at the bar but his friends/co worker who were sitting at the bar got their food WAY before us. He did say our burger will be out soon...while our first drinks remained empty without him actually coming over again. We got our burger and gave up on any more service. So we sat there trying to close out while him and another bartender/ maybe even a female manager made more complimentary shots for friends and some other people at the bar while we waited for someone to pay attention and close us out. Finally after seeing how frustrated we were getting he came over and I just gave him my card without even reviewing the bill because I was afraid it would be another 25 minutes before someone came over.
