Wonderful Pinot Noir Magnum suggested by our Sommelier, Jen. Excellent recommendations!

This place is top shelf! You feel it the minute you walk in the upscale restaurant and bar area. We came in Saturday 12/13 with a large group (15). We could only get 12 on one large table so 3 were seated on a table close by. That was fine, we are just happy to get us all in together. The service was Outstanding! From our waiter, Dillion, to our sommelier Jen, to the bussers, everyone worked together to get the plates and utensils cleared and replaced, and the wine glasses filled. Our food was amazing! The Beef tartare and the oysters were a hit. The steaks were cooked perfect, and our sides (Asparagus, Brussels Sprouts, Broccolini, and Whipped Potatoes) were excellent. For dessert we had the Baked Alaska & Butterscotch Chantilly. The Chantilly was my favorite and was so good. See my pics for a view. Love this place and will be back! Cheers!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]If you're looking for a more upscale or nicer spot for a steak type dinner with a business crew or fam or sheer adulting vibes with a nice bar, this is your spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Average meal pp is probable $80-120 depending on what you choose to share. Eg steak dishes are $80-100. We got the 18 oz ribeye medium rare and it was more rare than medium. Easily shared between 3. Flavor was good tho. Also got the salmon which was cooked medium and super tender and yummy. Best for one person. Spinach salad was meh. Broccolini was good, but Asparagus was thick and seasoned amazing. They ran out of mashed potatoes. The baked potatoes tasted microwaved and was super dry. The beet appetizer deserves a 5 on its own! The crusted pistachios are crazy good as is the creamy sauce that is at the base. The mushroom topping is yummy too. The service was good too. Parking on the Main Street is ok but prob busy on a weekend night at prime time. Nice spot, especially in a small town, as for me, not in a rush to come back but would if others wanted to.

This was probably the best ribeye steak I've ever had. It had an amazing thin crispy texture across most of the steak and was juicy and flavorful. I had heard that Montana was known for their beef quality and that was accurate AF. Their roasted beets were good too. We didn't expect there to be a goat cheese spread along the bottom of it and had to remove that since we didn't like goat cheese. They were happy to adjust the dish for us which was nice of them.

TL;DR: classic steakhouse with some nice modern upgrades. Inconsistent cooks and somewhat inexperienced service leaves us a little disappointed Ordered: - 4 tomahawk steaks for the table all medium rare. 2 were perfect while 2 were overcooked. We mentioned it, and even showed it, to the server who essentially said "sorry, nothing we can do about it". The perfectly cooked ones were so good but the other two were just slowly picked at. - Tartare was forgettable. Not enough mustard in the mix and way too much bread. - Wedge salad was better than the table salad. Definitely enjoyed the bleu cheese dressing as it stands up next to the meat. - French onion soup was a sleeper. Get it. - Baked alaska could've been great but the server literally poured on half of the dish so while one side got toasted, the other was completely untouched. Overall, a good steakhouse but improving the consistency both in the food and the service can really take JW to the next level Cheers, JW

    Short rib.

Party of eight on a Friday. It was a celebration and everyone was in a great mood. Downtown Bozeman was beautiful that evening. We were sat with in 10 minutes. We had reservations. We started with various apps and drinks. The servers were great. We had oysters fresh and Rockefeller, calamari, shrimp and fried deviled egg. Everything was served fast and fresh. The servers did a great job with explaining the menu. I ordered the short rib. Which is the definition of too much food. It was quite tasty and I finished it. I could have and should have taken half to go. I got to try a mate's the ribeye. Delicious. Tender, fatty and smokey. They did a great job. I'd give it 5-stars, it it weren't really over priced. There are much better values in Bozeman. Our bill was eye-watering. The food was great, the staff excellent, but this place is for those who aren't looking for a deal.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]From the moment we entered I knew it was going to be an upscale experience with top notch steak![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Found this steakhouse from a TikTok recommendation. It did not disappoint and Stephanie our server was on point with suggestions! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atheistic is a classic old-school steakhouse with dark wood, and the staff is all dressed in uniform.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The steak was like butter. One of the best steaks I have had. I highly recommend.

Feels Like Royalty in a Hunting Lodge - Plus That Butterscotch Budino! J.W. Heist Steakhouse in Bozeman is a place that knows how to do it right. We sat at the bar, and from start to finish, the experience was fantastic. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is something special--it feels like you've stepped into a fancy hunting lodge with a touch of royalty. The warm wood tones, elegant decor, and upscale-yet-cozy vibe make it a perfect spot for a night out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our bartender, Jenna, was awesome--friendly, helpful, and happy to walk us through the drink options. My girlfriend, Heather, ordered an Old-Fashioned, which was smooth and well-crafted, while I went with a delicious IPA that hit the spot. And then came the dessert. We ordered the Butterscotch Budino, which we already knew was going to be dangerous because we had popped in a few months ago, right around their opening weekend, and had it then. One bite, and yep--just as good as we remembered. Creamy, rich, and absolutely addictive. We tried to resist, but... we ordered a second one. No regrets. Whether you're in Bozeman for a visit or you're a local looking for an elevated night out, J.W. Heist Steakhouse is a must. Sit at the bar if you can--the service is top-notch, the atmosphere is unbeatable, and that Budino? Game-changer.

We had a reservation, walked there from our hotel was seated within 5-7 min of arrival. Our server Lindsey was Excellent! She knows the menu, the history of the place, the staff and beyond. She was very detailed and knowing it was our 1st time she encouraged us to go see the kitchen, and we did! My 1st drink way strong, so I cut it back on #2. The food not as impressive as some steakhouses I've been too but not bad. The main issue we had was our steaks Filets were not hot, not even really warm. They had a smoky taste and I kept mine but my bf sent his back and was still unhappy and chose not to eat it. The grilled asparagus was hot & tasty, The whipped potatoes just that smooth & creamy. Not a fan of the French onion soup, had an odd color. Very greasy and did not taste like house made French onion soup, But it was bloody hot! The bread basket kinda disappointing looked like Hawaiian bread rolls, tasted like a potato roll. Nothing to rave about. Crème Brûlée dessert was good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's kinda loud inside, dim lighting, seating is very close to your neighbor at least where we sat. Tight walkways to get towards the kitchen and bathrooms[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]we always make a "quick" friend no matter where we go, and tonight was no different on our way to the kitchen a man named Scotty at the bar stopped us to say hi, ask where we're from and have a quick chat. (He was not a local either on a business trip ) so it was fun to see friendly people inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] To be frank, the service was the best, Lindsey is a Fantastic & knowledgeable server. We'd probably come back if we were in the area, try it again and make different choices. But for now we are on steakhouse scavenger hunts so tonight we will find another new place here in Bozeman before we head to Billings.

The wait is not that long.. we came here as walk in's 2x on our 1week stay that started in Bozeman, went down to Yellowstone, then to Idaho for UTV riding and then to Jackson Hole WY to go see the Teton National Park. It was nice to walk around the local shops while we waited and then afterwards to work off those delicious carbs. Thin crust pizzas clean, fresh, not heavy and seasonal ingredients. The crust is soooo good. Chewy and some char. We had: Montana Burger Royale My teen son dreams about this. Yes its 27.00 and he said its the BEST burger he's ever had. I would have to agree (and we live in Austin TX where there's great cow) -the burger meat melted in your mouth -the egg dripping as you break the yolk was perfection. The bacon so juicy, the brioche bun (that was the winning touch) We shared: Hot Honey Pizza- so good 9/10 Spicy Burrata- also great. 8/10 Mac n cheese- that was the only miss. Way under seasoned and the white sauce seemed to get sucked up by the pasta so the dish was super dry. 3/10 Frites and Fondue- fries were great. Thick cut with finely shaved pecorino. Could have used a heaping more of the shaved cheese. -the fondue was ok, seemed still under seasoned or just not creamy enough? I'd swap that for some roasted garlic with the truffle oil. 6/10 Local brews and ciders were great! 9/10 Huckleberry Cheesecake 9/10 save room for this bad boy. We split it between 4 people. Not too sweet. Tart and delightful! The world cup was on the TV so it was a hopping place even as it rained during a late June evening. Parking garage nearby is free for 2hrs so thats cool! Wasn't sure if we should order one or two because the sizing wasn't clear, but a lot of reviews mentioned the pizzas are more around the personal size. I'd say two people could probably share a pizza no problem. We got the vodka pizza, added Italian sausage, as well as the pepperoni. The three of us nearly polished off both pizzas. The pizzas were good, but the undercarriage was pretty floppy, which made me think it probably could have cooked maybe a tad bit longer. They have some good looking pasta dishes as well!

I was eating solo and was seated really quickly. It was a while before anyone came up to the table to start taking my order. I was going to go with a lower rating, but they redeemed themselves enough. I went pretty simple, a bacon cheeseburger and fries. I did opt for bison since I had never eaten it. My waitress, once she came to the table, was incredibly nice and did check in a few times - not overly so like some can do. I appreciated that. I did order the burger medium and it came out medium well to well, but I attribute that to bison cooking quicker and it really didn't matter to me anyway. Burger was good. Fries were good. I contemplated dessert, but the cookie they serve with the ice cream is oatmeal, but I was told they have a brownie and ice cream option. Sign me up! The waitress brought it out a little later, the brownie nice and warm. It was good. No complaints. This place is t great, but it is good and the food is less expensive than some of the options I had around here. I'd definitely go back if I am in the area again. I might even have to try to get some bison meat at home.

But, my husband and I decided to bite the bullet. There aren't many options for Christmas Eve dining in town anyway. Our waitress, who seemed to also be one of the bartenders was very sweet. We sat close to the entrance so we got a little cold when the front doors opened but it wasn't bad overall. The interior was very cute and inviting. We ordered way too much food but I'll break it down dish by dish... * Lemon Drop: Worth every penny. I wish I had more in a glass. * Bone Marrow: Not bad. It could have used a tad more seasoning but the sourdough bread definitely helped elevate the flavor. I wish the bread was toasted but no big deal. * French Onion Soup: Delicious! My husband hates onions but loved the soup here. It was especially tasty on a semi-cold Christmas Eve night. * 16 oz. Ribeye: Cooked perfectly. I love a cast iron seared steak and the beef tallow made it even better. We decided to split a steak - already knowing we'd order way more than two people could eat. * Lobster Mac & Cheese: It was much better than I was expecting. * Heirloom Baby Carrots: There was something about this dish that just didn't do it for me. I'm not sure if it was the spices, or lack of, but still better than others. * Cornbread skillet: A reliable side if it's something you're craving but nothing to write home about. * Cookie skillet: Not very exciting. The cookie was okay but the huckleberry ice cream made it much better. * Dow's 10-year: Treat yourself! This port was the perfect balance of sweet and smooth. My husband also ordered french fries and there was nothing special about 'em. He's not a fan of truffle fries so these were plain. I personally think the truffle fries would have been a better option. All in all, our bill was about $240. Definitely not an every day dining experience for us but we're happy to come back, with a few menu alterations, on special occasions.
