Less than a quarter mile from the I-75 highway, an egg sizzles, a crowd of Sunday church-goers mingle, and arteries clench in the blue-collar watering hole that is Tee Jaye's Country Place. The echoes of simpler times are alive and well. Tee Jaye's feels like a restaurant chain that was never fully thought out. Aside from a lone shelf with antiques, there was nothing (other than the menu) that told the story that Tee Jaye's was a place for comfort food and home-cooking. The bare walls leave you feeling like you're inside the love-child of Perkins and Bob Evans, trapped in the body of a 90s cookie-cutter chain restaurant. The delayed service at Tee Jaye's feels less egregious an offense than the 45 minute wait for a table at Cracker Barrel across the street, while the biscuits and gravy feels more egregious a sin than anything I had eaten in the last month. While the food is hearty and comforting, there's nothing that left me with the feeling that I couldn't have made it at home, myself (even the coffee brewed is Folgers). With a spattering of hangover-curing dishes on the table, our crew got to sample a few of the dishes on the breakfast menu (breakfast wrap, sandwich, biscuit and gravy, and the fried chicken). Tee Jayes also certainly scores bonus points with the free dessert check-in offer on Yelp. With it's highwayside location, it could probably get by with its comfort foods, or with the slow service... but when paired together it just becomes a super mediocre experience (which feels generous to say). Our server, Chad, was polite and apologetic for the long wait times. It felt that a need for more staffing was the issue while we were there (which feels like it should be anticipated on a Sunday morning). While this time we opted to try somewhere new, I think If I were back in the area in need of some highway-side grub, I'd wait for a table at Cracker Barrel.

Cheyenne was our server she was not on her "A" game was served food but no silverware. Waited then had to remind her to bring hot sauce and ketchup twice. The tea fresh brewed! Breakfast was ok. Had been here before but today was disappointing.

it is Tee Jaye's country place so you have to set you expectations accordingly... I give 4 stars because our waitress, Brittany, was a rock star. The food was marginal. I had the eggs Benedict which were disappointing at best. Wifie had hen house special which looked good. The sausage gravy was ok - bacon was awesome - the real salvation of this breakfast was the service. It is a less expensive alternative to cracker barrel or Bob Evans but there is a difference.

Hands down. The best biscuits and gravy on the planet. Friendly service, albeit a bit slow, but worth the wait.

The server was very loud and expressing how bad she didn't wanna work there and how they were hiring how she needed help and how she don't make enough as a customer. I thought it was very unprofessional. After awaiting at our table for 20 minutes, she finally access what we wanted to eat and we place an order. She never brought our drinks out so after we received our food, our food was wrong. I asked for a pepperoni pizza with bacon and ham and extra sauce, she brought me out a pizza with ham and extra extra cheese. It just looked a mess and I asked for her to take it back. I didn't want it and she had an attitude the cook had an attitude so bad that they came out and said something to me my friend ordered her food and it was wrong but she still ate it. It was the perfect spot for a relaxed, drawn-out dinner where we could enjoy drinks, take our time, and really soak it all in. We had a reservation and were seated right away, which set the tone for the night. Everyone ordered cocktails (I've heard the espresso martini is one of their best, even though coffee isn't really my thing), and honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the drink menu. We started with the Meze, which included house-made falafel, tzatziki, hummus, sun-dried tomato couscous, assorted vegetables, and naan--everything was fresh and so flavorful. They also brought out complimentary focaccia right away, which was such a nice touch. For my main, I ordered the seasonal scallops, and I also tried the chicken thighs with fig, goat cheese, asparagus, parmigiano reggiano, and couscous--both were absolutely amazing. I'd go back in a heartbeat just to try more of the menu. We were there for about 2-3 hours, and at no point did we feel rushed or like we were inconveniencing the staff. The entire experience felt thoughtful, welcoming, and just really special. Highly recommend The Sycamore for your next date night or girls' dinner!

I was a bit worried as it looks more like a night club from the outside, but the food was fantastic! We ordered the popcorn chicken, the Shanghai noon burger, mama Chien's dumplings, drunken noodles, a cobra old fashion and a local beer (paper cloud?). The chicken had some unique seasoning and the drunken noodles were phenomenal; the noodles were giant and cooked perfectly and the dish has some unique touches like pea pods that you don't usually find. You order at the bar, but even with that the service was great! A server brought out an herb for us to try that is in many of their dishes. This actually surprised me (see my previous review) and that's what made me order it four times in a row even though I normally like to switch it up. I tried the pastrami and it was pretty decent. It was thick cut and tender. Not as salty as I anticipated. I prefer the more fatty cuts but you can ask for lean or full cut. The pulled pork has been less dry than it used to be and I've ordered the Lolo's pulled pork a handful of times because of it. The slaw and swine wine are a good combo in my opinion. Half chicken is still good and even though it seems smaller lately it is still filling, plus I love Texas toast! My current favorite sides are now the corn pudding, the collard greens, and the mac. The green beans are also flavorful. I haven't had the ribs, turkey, sausage, or pulled chicken in a long time so I can't speak on those. All in all, I'm still very happy with this location.
