I went to this office for the first time after finding it through my dental insurance, and I trusted the high Google rating. That was a mistake. I was there for over 1.5 hours and saw at least five different people. All they did was X-rays, then immediately started telling me I had a lot of problems and needed many treatments. I only came for a regular cleaning and to replace one crown. At the end, they gave me a very high estimate and with almost $3,000 out of pocket. No one clearly explained what my insurance actually covers. It felt like they were just trying to scare me and push expensive treatments. When I questioned it, one dentist said if I only wanted the "cheap" materials covered by insurance, they could do that--but they never explained that option in the first place. This place feels like a scam. They are not honest and seem focused on getting as much money as possible rather than helping patients. While waiting, I checked Yelp reviews and saw many people saying the same thing about unnecessary treatments and upselling. I do NOT recommend this place. Staff was polite and professional during all my visits; however, I started to question their sales tactics. I was told I was in the early stages of periodontal disease and they recommended I see their periodontist. After a quick consult, the periodontist recommended an $8,000 surgery. Prior to this visit, I had no significant dental issues. I honestly spent more time with the office staff than the periodontist as they explained the pricing and insurance coverage. I questioned the periodontist's findings as I read that the surgery she recommended was for more advanced/severe cases of periodontal disease. I got a second opinion from another periodontist who found that my teeth and gums were healthy and I did not need the procedure. This experience caused me to no longer trust the practice. Be wary of upselling, do your research, and get a second opinion. read more

I had been a patient of this practice for years. At one time both my husband and I had been patients, until he had an unpleasant experience there too and found another provider. The hygienist was great! The last appointment was terrible. Came in for my regular scheduled appointment with my hygienist and my dentist was on maternity leave for another dentist completed the exam. I was told I needed a cleaning that would cost aprox $3k (my out of pocket would be closer to $1k) because now I needed a very deep cleaning, after coming in regularly for normal cleanings every 6 months. I was shocked to say the least. Come to find out my hygienist was not even working that day so even my regular cleaning wasn't even going to happen. I literally got up and walked out and said I would be seeking a 2nd opinion. The dentist was condescending stating that what my insurance pays is not under her control. Flash forward - went for a 2nd opinion to another dental office and was told the deep cleaning was not necessary. My teeth are in great shape and the work Modern Dentistry stated I needed is completely unnecessary. Always listen to your gut! read more

I arrived and wasn't kept waiting at all. It's a lovely modern dental office. I was very impressed with Dr. Price, she really listened and took extra steps to make sure I was comfortable, I'm a nervous patient. I had an amalgam filling that had cracked which needed a crown. I also had a crown replaced, they did digital impressions, no gunk. Then made both the crowns on the premises and fitted them the same day. I had a deep cleaning. So I'm all done in 1 visit. The hygienist Candice, was great, very patient with me, least painful cleaning I've ever had. Jenny the assistant was friendly too. I love this place and these wonderful people. Phenomenal experience with Dr. Price and the team. I was incredibly impressed with how kind, professional, informative, and accommodating Dr. Price was. My mom had an emergency, and I suspected she'd need a crown--which she did. Although the process took a while, it was an emergency appointment that turned into treatment, so the time was understandable. The office was clean, and even though they were super busy (which I take as a good sign), they kept checking in on us regularly. While we were there, I overheard another patient upset about a billing issue--just a reminder that most of those problems are caused by dental insurance companies, not the office staff. Despite the situation, the team remained calm and professional. They also offer a great discount plan, and their prices are fair for the area. After this visit, my entire family has decided to transfer here--leaving behind our longtime dentist in San Diego after 15 years. I cannot recommend this dentist office and all the staff enough. Thursday night I had a cavity fall out and I called to make an appointment figuring I would get an answering machine. Instead I got a live person and an appointment the next morning. I've had a LOT of dentist anxiety and it's kept me from getting treatment. Immediately I felt ease and friendliness with Dr Ashley Abram's. She took time to get to know me and her entire team was warm welcoming and gentle. I ended up having a root canal and two crowns and it was the easiest appointment I've ever had. Everyone listened to me and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. We are in search of a new Dentist. We've been with this Dentist for a couple years now and every time it's nothing but high-pressure sales making you feel like if you choose what the insurance is gonna cover you're giving yourself subpar coverage and care.. I was just in there this week. They said I needed a crown taken out because I had a cavity or leakage.. They charge my insurance, but they were still extra fees associated. They added something called a buildup which is supposed to be extra buildup that they do in your mouth if there's not enough material left for a crown to attach to what they claim was, they added it to the crown regardless I lost all faith and trust when I question them the manager there was snippy at me the Dental tech right in front of me asked the dentist are we doing a buildup? She said no no need. They also didn't drill out any cavity or put any fillers in a cavity. Like I said every time we go in there it's almost like a fear campaign to get you to pay more. There's three different crown prices there's you can pay for this laser, but it's not included, but it's highly recommended because you have all this bacteria in your mouth.. and I've done this treatment paid for it before notice. No difference on my return trip and since then have stopped in my gums this last trip were actually better but again was that because they take their little probe in your gums and just start announcing 3345 on your teeth right before the Sales Rep comes in and says well you have a lot of issues in there. You have a lot of bacteria everything is inflamed you need to do this laser that's what it feels like so I do not recommend this Office. I will not ever be going back and I am warning y'all to steer clear.. I've never experienced it's a high sales environment and I don't understand why dentistry has turned into this in the Navy for 24 years never experienced this. Maybe this is some type of civilian sales but I've been retired since 2018 and my other Dennis never acted this way. I seen the reviews here that a lot of people go and get second opinions and find out that they're diagnosis from this office was incorrect and they didn't need that work anyway so did they just wanna break my old crown out to charge me for more money? I've been a patient here for years and never had any issues before until the last year or so. The staff has always been very welcoming and professional so there is no complain there, this review is in regards to their lack of communication between the dentist and the specialist who only go once a month. The first few times I was asked to reschedule, I was frustrated but understood that life happens. However, they do seem to charge a fee for no shows out of courtesy to the Dentist's busy schedules. I'd like to know what sort of reimbursements the patients will receive when they take time off work, get a sitter, or make other arrangements only to be rescheduled FOUR times now. So many of my colleagues have also had this issue and truly hope they take on specialist who can be there more than once a month, if not longer. It's very frustrating because The staff is very friendly and both family dentist are great, it's a shame they can't add more specialist or have a better communication / scheduling system. read more

1 Star -- I Had to Save My Own Tooth in the Dental Chair My visit to Temecula Modern Dentistry was one of the most disturbing healthcare experiences I've ever had -- and I say that without exaggeration. I was scheduled for a dental checkup and was told I needed a filling. What should have been a straightforward procedure turned into something far worse. The dentist began drilling into the wrong tooth. Not once -- TWICE. If I hadn't been fully alert and spoken up, they would have continued treatment on a perfectly healthy tooth. That is not a minor oversight. That is a deeply unsettling breakdown of clinical care. There was no clear verification process before the drill came out. No double-check. No confirmation with me -- the patient. Just a rushed push forward, and it was only when I insisted something felt wrong that they stopped. I left the chair shaken, wondering what would have happened if I had been less confident, younger, sedated, or simply trusted the provider without question and I wonder if they would have drilled more deeply into my non-anesthetized tooth! To their credit, the front desk staff was kind and professional, and they did explain the approximately 30-minute delay at the beginning of my appointment. But once the drill came out, that professionalism ended. In the end, I received a refund of only $23.55, my copay for one filling, and I and my insurance company had to pay full price for the rest of the visit. That gesture, paired with what had happened, felt dismissive and insulting. What happened during my visit wasn't just inconvenient -- it was alarming. A patient should never have to be the final line of defense between a drill and the wrong tooth. If there are not systems in place to prevent such an obvious and harmful error, what other mistakes are slipping through? I'm sharing this because people deserve to know the risks. In my opinion, what I experienced reflected a lack of attentiveness, follow-through, and patient safety standards that no one should have to accept. Was kept there for 2 hours just to be told that they refused to do the no charge, included cleaning, but would do the upcharged deep cleaning only. Dr Price was very honest in her diagnosis. They also have many payment plans which makes it very easy to get same day treatment without the financial stress. I now know the importance of a healthy mouth and the connection to overall health. Our mouth/teeth are priceless and I am ready to take care of it, even if insurance doesn't cover everything. Their dentists and hygienists do good work. It's a shame they have incompetent staffing who unable to provide you with a good faith statement of how much you'll owe for your appointment. They have zero ethics; they lie about being in network providers only to show they're out of network when you receive a bill for services provided. When inquiring about that bill, your insurance provider will say you owe one amount while the office lackey's say you owe hundreds more. They hound you every single day to pay your dues, but do not acknowledge when they owe you services or a refund. I was scheduled an appointment for a periodontal checkup that never happened. Sat in a chair for over an hour, while the office noted in my file that I had a full visit with their periodontist. The periodontist was busy with an "emergency". The office barely batted an eye at me after I told them I was leaving with no services and never offered me a second appointment. I've filed a complaint with consumer affairs to handle them going forward. So, if you'd like to be out hundreds of dollars while not receiving services, proceed at your own caution. I have been with Modern Dentistry since 2020, and started the implant process in early 2022 and have payed close to $4,400 to date yet when I walked in for the fifth stage in the process they stated I still owed another $1900. When I paid for the implant and the sinus adjustment the additional follow on costs were never discussed and I was misled to believe that the $4000 paid during the post installation was the entire amount. I have had implants done before and it was under $3k back then so why would I think it would be any other charges. The verbiage on the invoices are misleading and I would not recommend this dentistry for cosmetics. The dental experience is good, my issue is the billing. After the exam, you are shown on a screen the cost of entire treatment. The total price is extremely high, but then, they offer you Smile Generation. They tell you it's not an insurance, you pay to join for a fee for a year contract. Once you agree to join Smile Generation during the conversation, your entire amount quoted is now reduced.. In my opinion, the reduced amount is what is normally charged anywhere else. My suggestion is to do your research, read reviews on Smile Generation. I asked for an itemized receipt of my bill and was not given one, which I find unusual, that's the negative of the office experience. The only time you see the bill in its entirety is on the screen while they are selling you the Smile Generation contract. The majority of the staff, but not all is very friendly. Frustrated and disappointing. I should've know from the moment I walked in, the interaction with the front desk check in woman. She was very rude and short. I'd ask a few questions and she completely ignored me. As time passed while trying to e-check in on their website that didn't work before the appointment, she condescendingly asked if I was done yet. The dentist comes out and walks me to a small office room. Saying he wants to "get to know me". I thought I scheduled a regular cleaning, but I was wrong. I was there to get to know this office at 8:30AM on a Saturday morning. I expressed my frustration with dental offices refusing to clean teeth and push an obscene amount of money for a regular visit. He agreed with me and told me he'd be "transparent". I was brought to another small room where they did more than normal x-rays. I expressed that I didn't want to pay out of pocket costs and only wanted what my insurance would cover. The man who did my x-rays was very kind, and we chatted a little. I was then taken to the actual exam room where the dentist met me. Asking if he was able to come in yet? I'm not sure what this meant but I wasn't there to chit chat or wait a long period of time. I just wanted my teeth cleaned and taken care of. I understand the necessity of oral hygiene, so I was baffled when he told me he would grab the office manager to go over my quote. Once again, I was met with the rude, condescending woman from the front. I asked her if she had the quote. She said no, I'm here to meet you then we can "schedule" your cleaning with the hygienist. I'm not sure why I have to meet with so many people for a visit that should've been quick and easy, but this not that. Ten minutes later she walks back in and shows me my quote. Charging my insurance $2,400 and I am to pay $426. The dentist claimed I needed a laser treatment and needed a full panel saliva test to be tested at a lab. I told her I did not want any of this. I just wanted a cleaning. She went over my quote once again adamantly, that the doctor is pushing for this. I looked at her and said so I can't have a normal cleaning? I just want a normal cleaning. She said NO. I said okay, we're done here. I got up and left the office. Ridiculous. Upsetting. And a complete waste of my time to wake up early on my day off to meet all these people to be over charged and scammed. Before I allowed them to do their exam i asked them to confirm our cleanings would be done afterwards as scheduled. The tech said "No" because both Hygienist called in sick and there was an emergency patient that bumped us that takes priority so we simply left. This place is strickley in it for the money. They overbook and an appointment MEANS NOTHING YOU STILL HAVE TO WAIT AND WAIT. I cracked my tooth Christmas time and made an appointment. They get you in quick for Xrays and then I waited almost 2 hours before I left and rescheduled asking for an early morning appointment on a Saturday. On the Saturday appointment I was told that I had to come back for the oral surgeon. I showed up yesterday for my appointment with the oral surgeon and I was told that I got bumped back because they couldn't reach me to confirm my appointment. Three strikes you are out.
