Irvine Spectrum Center has many restaurants to visit. If you want a Japanese restaurant that has nice ambiance, outdoor and indoor seating, as well as tasty food, then Robata Wasa is definitely a good choices. I haven't gone to too many restaurants in the Spectrum since I don't live anywhere near Irvine. I enjoyed my time here. It's a nice, cozy place to get drinks and eat food. My favorite was definitely the Chirashi Don, since I am into sashimi, so it's a no-brainer for me. The yellowtail serrano is not too far behind. I took a chance with the sweet potato, since it is a new menu item, but I didn't regret it, because they were very tasty. Overall, a very nice experience. I wouldn't say that it's Michelin level cuisine, but I would definitely come back again if I am in the area. My best recommendation is to come weekday during lunch to avoid the rush since this place can get busy. read more

Came here for Father's Day late lunch at 3pm. We walked in and got a table straight away. We ordered some apps like the shishito peppers, calamari and chicken gyoza. All were crispy and fresh. We ordered the bento box for the kids which was a great portion and good mix of items. Also ordered the miso cod which came with rice. It was lightly flavored and I would've liked more of the sauce. The tuna was finely minced and well seasoned, and the rice had the perfect thickness and crunch. We've had crispy rice that was too thin and practically jaw-breaking, but this one was just right. Since our family loves sashimi and sushi, we ordered a wide variety. The standouts for us were the salmon belly sashimi, salmon belly sushi, and the sea urchin -- all fresh and satisfying. The spicy tuna crispy rice is perfect, the rice is fried to perfection, crispy on the outside and soft and sweet on the inside. And the tuna is very fresh and topped with Serrano peppers for that little kick. We get it every time we go. We love the volcano roll as well. The tasting menu is fun, try it before it's gone. There are a couple of dishes on there that I hope they keep. One is the sashimi in a green sauce and I can't remember what it is. But it is delicious, like impeccably delicious! Everything tasted a bit fishy which threw me off, for the prices and how nice the restaurant looks you would assume it would be good quality. Can't recommend anything we ordered. The shishito peppers were good last time but today they were not very tasty and had a weird aftertaste. The spicy tuna was very fishy. And why do 70% of the rolls have fake crab in them. My coworker got the Deluxe Bento and said it was decent with some things good like the teriyaki chicken and other items meh like the croquette. I got the Sushi Gozen Bento and found all the fish except the salmon slightly fishy or tough. The shrimp sashimi piece still had shell and tail on it which was annoying. The ambiance was fine but for a higher end restaurant I think I would have expected the bathroom to be nicer. The outdoor seating area was really pleasant.
